A Double Twisted Nightmare Chapter 24
February 1st 2001
Spencer was waiting for Albert and Alex to arrive. They told him that they have something that can help him survive the virus that they took, so he wouldn't die due to his frail body.
'I do hope the virus can reverse my age.' Spencer looks down at himself. He was by a table with chairs.
Alex and Albert arrive, Albert is carrying a suitcase. "Welcome, my children." Spencer greets them.
Both Wesker siblings had to fight back their words. 'We are not your children.' they both think with angry.
".. Mr. Spencer." Alex greets halfheartedly.
"Before we get to business, we would like to know how our family is doing." Albert said. He forgoes a greeting.
"Albert.." Spencer gives him a warning about his disrespect.
".. Mr. Spencer." Albert reluctantly greets him.
"Very good." Spencer said. They sit down at the table.
"Now," Spencer says, "About your concern for your family, they are doing well. Christopher and Claire have adjusted to being apart of security. Ashlyn and Austin are growing like they are suppose to."
"You haven't done anything to them?" Albert asks.
"No, your children are fine. They will not have anything done to them." Spencer tries to reassure them, that nothing has or will happen.
Neither Albert or Alex were entirely convinced. "What about our spouses?" Alex asks. They both knew, that they were the most expendable in Spencer's eyes.
"Unless you decide to backstab me again, nothing will happen to them. If they disobey, they get punished accordingly, but nothing of the sort has happen. Likely in fear that the children will be taken away. Sergei is watching over them." Spencer said.
Hearing that Sergei was in such close proximity with their family made them tense. "Is Sergei behaving himself?" Albert asks.
"He knows better than to touch them. I have warned him, that unless they are disobedient, that if they are harmed in anyway, I would have doubled the hurt he did to them." Spencer said.
Again, the siblings were not reassured.
"I have to say though," Spencer says, "They are excellent in the kitchen. I've had a few meals made by them."
Albert ad Alex get more mad at hearing that Spencer was treating their lovers, like they were servants, but knew that they were powerless there. It was a way to show control.
"Down to business. Do you have the virus?" Spencer asks.
"Yes." Alex said and Albert puts the brief case on the table. "Here are vials of the medicine, you should be taking one, once a month." Albert said.
"This will ensure I will not die, after I take the virus?" Spencer questions, grabbing one to look it over.
"Yes, you need to take at least a year's worth. During that time, me and Albert will continue to break down the virus that William made." Alex said.
"Oh?" Spencer asks, intrigued.
"William work on the virus solo. Any components and bases that he used, will take time in breaking down. In order to make sure, that the virus is compatible with you." Albert said.
"He made it completely from scratch? Even though the main base was the progentive virus?" Spencer asks, surprised.
"Yes, what is in the case is as far as we got." Alex said.
"I see. I take it, these other vials contain the virus?" Spencer said, seeing different color vials.
"Yes, we know you would like to have it looked at." Albert said.
"You are right. Now I know that you've taken care of... There are still many more to get rid of and remember, I won't let you see your family again, until all the executives are dead and I'm a tyrant." Spencer reminds them.
"We understand." they both said, standing up.
"Have a good night." Spencer said, as they leave.
Albert and Alex get in the car. As they drive, Albert speaks, "What we gave him, should satisfy him for now."
"Yes." Alex agrees.
They both knew, Spencer would want what was in the vials tested. Both, to make sure they weren't lying to him and to make sure they weren't going to betray him.
However, they both have given Spencer lies in this case. The so called 'medicine', was actually a nutrianal drink with some virus compounds. It would, at least extend his life. They despised that fact, but when he has people look at it, he would see that they were right.
As for the virus, they had made some progress on it, but had given him a watered down version on what they had. He would also give it to his scientists, but they doubt he has anyone to help with it. Thus he would have to rely on them, to make the real one.
"Ironically, William dying, ensured the virus can't be copied right, like his g-virus." Alex said, praise in her tone. She could admit, that William out did her in the virus, that he made them.
"Yes, rare to hear praise for him from you, but this in turn affects us. We needed him." Albert said.
"I know, because of his knowledge about the virus, he could've helped to where, we don't need to rely on a serum." Alex said.
The virus was still giving them trouble, in trying to figure it out, but they have developed a stronger serum recently.
"To another subject, how in all the world were you able to get his favor?" Alex asks, about the one Albert said, owned him.
"Sorry, but that will remain a secret, between him and I." Albert responds.
"Hmph. Fine, as long as he helps us get our family back, I won't care." Alex said, even though she was curious. They drive to an airport.
March 11 2001, Somewhere in Europe
Chris and Claire were in the same unit as they make rounds in the lab. They look over things, make sure things are on schedule and that people are doing what they are suppose to.
This day, they are watching a scientist inject a t-virus variant in a human. They have been doing this for four months, but they are still are uncomfortable with watching these things.
After the first one was done, he was taken to a room and another takes his place, for a different variant.
"Would you like to participate?" a doctor asks, holding a syringe to them. It was a different doctor than the one from before.
Both of them recoil at the question. "No." they said.
"You are the husband and wife of two of Umbrella's greatest scientists, surely you have done this. Here." the scientist tries to give one of them the shot, so they can inject it, into the person.
They both shake their heads and try to back away but the others, in the security group, stop them. Then one of them turns to the scientist, "They are here to observe, not to be apart of the project. We can't have a mess up. Do what your suppose to or you will be reported to colonel Vladimir." he said.
The doctor sneers, before turning his attention back to the man, who was to be infected.
The man who spoke, then turned to the former Redfield's, "He's not suppose to that, would you like us to inform the colonel?" he asks.
The other armed men let them go, once they see, Chris and Claire weren't going to flee the room. "No, he didn't do anything threating." Chris said.
He and Claire had no desire to make enemies, they were trying to make sure that the people around them, were in the neutral zone.
"Fine, though he does bring up one point. Did you not partake in this?" the leader asks.
"No. We only did combat data. We.. won't do this." Claire said, gesturing to the now infected man.
The man was taken away and as another person comes into the room, a new mercenary comes in. "Wesker? The colonel wants to dine, with you both." he said.
"Tell him that, we aren't interested." Chris said. Both Chris and Claire shift uncomfortably. Sergei has been asking them on a regular basis, to eat with him or accompany him.
"He says, if you continue to refuse him, he will make sure you regret it." he warns them.
That got their attention, but then they remember that Spencer told them, that Sergei is not to punish them, unless they have doe something that required them to be punished. It seems unlikely Sergei would punish them, for declining his invitations.
"Tell him, his threats are of no concern." Claire said to the man. The man leaves the room to pass on the message.
After some hours have passed, the leader of the group takes them aside. "What you did was not wise." he said, meaning the messenger from Sergei.
"What do you mean?" Claire asks.
"Sergei is Lord Spencer's lapdog, there is no doubt about that, but he does think and has his own actions. He will enact his threat. I suggest, you let me get in touch with the colonel and tell him you've changed your minds." he said.
Both of them think about what they just heard. ".. Let us go see our children." Chris then said. He needs to check on Austin and he knows Claire wants to check on Ashlyn.
"I insist you give me your answer." he said.
Claire sighs, "Our answer is yes then, we will eat with him."
In truth, both of them wanted more time to think it over, but their temporary team leader was being stubborn. "All right. I'll let him know, you may see your children." he said.
The leader leaves and the remaining group escort them to the play area, Spencer had it made for Ashlyn and Austin, where their children are at. They arrive and the group leaves, their part done and the guards over the playroom, they were stationed outside, let them in.
"Mama!" Ashlyn says, happy at see her. She gets up from her play mat and tries to run to her but falls. "Ow!" she said, about to cry.
"There, there." Claire said, walking over to her. "It's ok, Mommy is here." she said, getting on her knees. Ashlyn siffles and sheds a few tears, she then gets up and Claire brings into a hug.
"Hey there, little man." Chris said to his son, picking him up. Austin looks at his father, "Dada." he said happy.
'I wish Albert/Alex was here.' are their thoughts. There children had started talking about a month ago and Ashly has started to walk a little.
"We're going to have dinner, with colonel Vladimir." Claire let's the nannies know about the change of plans.
"We understand." they said.
"How have they been today?" Chris asks about the kids' welfare.
"They are doing well. As you've seen Miss Ashlyn is still learning to walk and Mr. Austin is still trying to stay on his feet." Ashlyn's nanny said.
"That's wonderful to hear." Claire said, giving Ashlyn to her nanny.
"Before we know it, they will running everywhere." Chris said, with a smile. He hands Austin to his nanny.
"About tonight-" Claire was about to suggest what the kids should have for dinner, when the door is thrown open.
Before Chris and Claire could shake off their surprise, they are grabbed and pinned against the wall. "Wha-What are you doing?!" Claire asks, alarmed, as she and Chris struggle to free them selves.
"What is the meaning-?" one of the nannies tries to ask, but both are grabbed.
"You and the children coming with us. The colonel orders it." one of the armed men said. Hearing that made Claire and Chris panic and they try harder but they are held fast as the nannies and children are taken away.
"No!" they both shout and still struggle against their captors.
"Enough." the leader says, "My men will let you go. You are to turn around, slowly, and I will tell you what this is about."
Both of them reluctantly stop moving and the men let them go, they turn to face the leader of the group.
"Colonel Vladimir says, while he accepts that you are coming dinner, that you can't play games with him. He had us take the children away, as a means of a warning. You will see them after you dine with him." the leader said.
"What games?" Claire asks, confused.
"Saying no at first, then changing your minds." he said.
They got the message, don't play him like an yo-yo. "Fine.. Nothing will happen to our children?" Chris asks. Both he and Claire are concerned and scared for them.
"Nothing will happen. This was just a warning. I suggest you don't test him." the leader said.
"When can we see our kids again?" Chris then asks.
"The colonel said, that as long as you cooperate, you'll see them after dinner." the leader said.
".. Ok. Can you let us go back to our rooms? We need to change." Claire said. She and Chris didn't want to wear their uniforms to dinner.
"You may go." the leader says, his men get out of the way. They find the ones who escorted them here, still outside the playroom.
The siblings head back to their rooms and change into informal clothing. They then head to the dining hall, where they are stopped by their leader from today, outside the hall.
"I apologize." he said to them. This made the two surprised.
"What for?" Chris asks.
"I thought that you agreeing to have dinner with the colonel would satisfy him. I did not think he would take the children out of spite." he said.
"We understand. You said it yourself, he has his own actions." Claire said.
"True, though next time you go to dinner with him, I recommended that you were something more presentable." he said, upon seeing what they were wearing.
"Next time, we will." Claire said. They hadn't want to dress up for Sergei, but if their leader was saying that they should, they will. There is no time for them to change again. They knew that they couldn't keep Sergei waiting for too long.
"Good, after dinner, I'll send someone to bring you to me, so you can meet someone. He's been wanting to meet you." he said.
Both of them are surprised, but sees that this someone was important, if their leader's words are anything to go by. "All right, we'll see him." Chris said.
The leader backs away and they head into the dining hall, where Sergei was waiting for them. "Welcome, comrades." Sergei greets them and they take their seats.
"Since you decided to join me at last minute, you'll have to eat some cuisine from my home country." he said, as the servants bring out food.
When they were served, they begin to eat. Nothing looked too familiar, but Claire and Chris knew, that if they said no, they would offend him. "Come, let us have, what you call, small talk." Sergei says, encouraging them to talk.
Reluctantly, Chris and Claire talk to him about what they do in their spare time. ".. cooking was something we took up, shortly after arriving at the island." Claire says.
"I see. I know that you have made meals for Lord Spencer while he's been here. How would you like to make me something?" Sergei asks, more like a demand.
Chris and Claire can hear that he won't tolerate them saying no and, even though they really don't want to, as the one who said back in the playroom, it would not be wise to test him.
"..That's fine." Chris said and Claire nods. They couldn't kill him, given their situation.
"Excellent.." Sergei and them, talk for about an hour, before they excuse themselves.
They meet an officer outside the hall, like their leader promised. "We know, he wants us to meet someone, but we need to check on our children." Claire tells him.
"He said you might. Let's go see them." he said.
They follow him to Chris' room, where he finds Austin and his nannie safe. He checks him over, before they leave the room and go to Claire's. She opens the door to see Ashlyn with her nannie. She also looks her over before they leave with the officer to where their leader is.
It took about fifteen minutes, then they find themselves, outside of the training grounds, with him standing in front of the doors. He dismisses the officer and addresses them, "Welcome here, he is waiting inside."
They head in and both Chris and Claire see a man, with a gas mask on his side. "Thank you Vector. Stay outside the doors and alert us to any, that have no business with us." he orders Vector.
"Yes, sir." Vector said, before leaving, pulling the doors shut.
"So, you are Claire and Chris Wesker. I have news for you, your spouses know where you are." mystery man said.
"Really?!" Claire asks, as she and Chris shake off their shock.
"Yes, however, they cannot extract you or the children at this time. This place is too heavily guarded, you may get caught in the crossfire, should Spencer and Sergei realize they are trying to free you." he informs them.
"That is the unfortunate part, your right." Chris admits. There was far too many guards here, and there would be no doubt that Spencer would have them moved, should their lovers come knocking.
"Yes. Thus there is a plan, that will take time. Using third parties, the Wesker's will attack Umbrella facilities, to draw troops away from here and to other facilities to reinforce them. The real issue, however, is to make sure that neither Spencer or Sergei are here. As long as one of them is here, any remaining troops will put up a fight, for they know the risks, if they fail them." he said.
"I see.. Why are you helping us?" Chris asks.
"I owe Albert Wesker. He called in that favor and I have my own reasons, as to why I'm leaving Umbrella in the future. Now, we talked long enough, I'll let you know when the time comes, when Wesker and his sister will come. Go rest and tomorrow, I'll see to it, that you are under my wing for training." he orders.
"Before we do, please tell us your name." Claire asks.
"My name is one you will never know, but you shall know my codename: Hunk." he said.
May 5th 2001, somewhere in Europe
Jill was currently trying to hack through a computer in an underground compound that her group had found in the mountains. There had been some issues, regarding the nearby towns, that people ended up being infected.
To her surprise and disappointment, it was not a Umbrella facility or hideout for the Wesker siblings. 'I knew that other people would seek to make B.O.W's, but I didn't think it would be now.' Jill thinks.
The ones who were behind this, were a minor company that never made it pass the borders of their country. Clearly, they decided to make their own bioweapons, in hopes of making enough money, to become an international enterprise in Europe and beyond.
'Still, this is minor, compared to what happened to Raccoon City. All these people did was teak the virus a bit, all the people that weren't turned, are cured and there was only a small percentage that had to be put down, for it was too late for them.' Jill was sad with those that died to this company's stupidity. The reason why the nearby towns were infected, was because they did not keep up on security.
'At least, this inhumane company is done.' she finishes analyzing the data and downloads it unto a flash drive.
As she grabs it, she thinks, 'Too bad Umbrella can't become dead like this.'
Umbrella was still putting up a good resistance in the courts, but there has been damage. Very little consumers buying their stocks, though they are told other reasons as to why Umbrella is burning.
'Bioterror has not completely reached the public yet, so any country involved with it has been keeping quiet about it.. Though I can't honestly say, that it's a good thing.' Jill thinks as she leaves the room.
The incident of Raccoon City, was labeled as a nuclear meltdown, not a missile, and anything about it being infected was never spoken about. That did upset Jill, for she lost a lot of friends to the virus and she still believes that there were people still not infected, left in the city.
However, she knew that if she went after the government like that, they would try to get rid of her. They had offered her money, at first, to keep quiet about it. She, disgusted, said no and that they needn't worry about her mouth. She'll keep quiet, not in fear of her own life, but because she has work to do.
That was why she said she would go to the press to tell them about Leon saving her, instead.
'Chris.. Claire.. I will not give up. I will find you, the Wesker's will pay, and Umbrella will fall.' Jill has not forgotten her vow.
'Still,' she continues to think, coasting to a stop in a hall, 'The reason that Umbrella is still fighting, is because they have gone underground to make money and we have not found a person who can direct us as to where they are still making bioweapons.'
All of a sudden, there is an explosion. "What?!" Jill said, in alarm as the building shakes.
Her radio comes to life, "Valentine! Some idiot set off a bomb, that released the B.O.W's! We already have our explosives set! Get out of there!" Claude orders.
"Is everyone else out?!" she grabs her radio and shouts.
"Yes! It had to have been one of the scientists! He hid himself quite well! Now hoof it!" he said, before connections gone.
"Vermine?! Damn!" Jill said, putting her radio away and taking out her gun.
She runs to the end of the hall and hears something like a clicking noise. She peeks her head around the corner and see a skinless creature with a brain exposed.
'That's.. a licker. Leon said they are an annoying pain in the ass. He also said that, though they are blind, their hearing is something else.' Jill quietly, moves around the corner and shoots it in the head, a couple of times. It falls down dead but a screech is heard.
Another licker emerges from the shadows and it knocks Jill's gun away, when she turned to shoot at it. Before it could kill her, another shot from behind it, got it. The shots continued until it was dead.
Jill watches as the mystery person comes to where she could see them and recognizes her, from descriptions that Leon told her. "Ada Wong." she said.
"Jill Valentine." Ada said in response, holding her gun on her.
They stare at each other for a moment.
"There is no time for us to squabble. I'll let you get back your gun, on the condition, you don't shoot me." Ada said, still keeping her gun on Jill.
"I promise I won't. I need to talk to you." Jill said, honestly. Not to mention, she knew Leon was fond of her.
Ada lowers her gun and Jill grabs her samurai. "What brings you here?" Jill asks, approaching her.
Ada stays where she is, "My clients asked me to look into this company and see if they head anything worthwhile, from their experiments." she said.
"And your clients are Albert and Alex Wesker." Jill says as a statement.
"No telling that." Ada said. They both knew that is was true.
"Let's continue this talk as we get out of here. There will be more than two monsters here." Jill said.
"True. I'll answer your questions as honestly as I can." Ada said, in warning. They walk to the next hall.
"Did you find anything substantial?" Jill asks as they turn a corner.
"No. There was not a decent mind, behind this place." Ada said, deadpan.
"Given what I looked through on their records, that does not sound surprising." Jill said.
They come to a stop in the next hall, where they hear moaning. Readying themselves, they move forward and see some zombies. They shoot at them until they all are dead, before heading into a side room.
They find ammo in there, and head through the door on the other side, to find more zombies. They shoot them in their heads, leaving behind their bodies, once they were no longer a threat.
"Thankfully, this place isn't too big and this company, only had like fifty B.O.W's." Jill said.
"Yes, but I think there is a little more to the number you said. Like fifty-five." Ada said as they turn another corner.
They move along the hall, when they hear clicking noises again. They each take one licker and get them, before they could retaliate.
"We're almost out of here." Jill said, turning into a new corridor.
As they were approaching the entrance, a different creature appears. It was one that neither of them have seen before. It had tentacles and seems to be based off a hunter, but had gotten an overhaul.
"This won't be easy." Ada said, holding her gun.
"No, it won't." Jill said, she also holds her gun on it.
It attacks them first, shooting it's tentacles at them. They dodge them and separating, make their way in a circle, shoot at it. It roars at them before running towards Jill.
She gets out of the way, barely managing not to get scraped by it, and shoots as she turns around to face it again.
It howls with agony, but takes Ada by surprise, by grabbing her. It brings her closer to it, opening it's mouth, which was twice as big as a normal hunter. Ada struggle, even though it's tentacles were like steel.
Then a shot is fired into the creature's mouth, making it roar again and drop Ada. Jill had found a grenade launcher, likely left behind by one of her teammates, and fires at the monster's mouth again.
It did not like that and tries to go after her, but Ada, who had recovered, shoot at it from behind.
It took five minutes, the woman taking turns at shooting at it, until it finally fell down dead. They head back to the entrance and leave.
Jill grabs her radio and says, "I'm out. Make some fireworks."
"Understood." Claude said. No sooner than that saying, the facility starts blowing up, taking nightmares with it.
"Not bad." Ada said, watching it. She then turns to leave, when Jill speaks, "Ada, tell me where Chris and Claire are."
Ada turns back to her, "I was wondering when you would bring them up. I'm sorry, but I can't help you."
She turns once more to leave, when Jill grabs her by the arm. Just as Ada was about to remove Jill's hand, "Ada.. Please." Jill pleads with her.
'She is our only link to know where they are.' Jill holds Ada's arm firmly.
Silence.
".. Very well, you saved my life, this will be my repayment, but I'll give you the same warning I gave Leon. You won't like what you find." Ada said, looking back at her.
Jill lets her go and Ada turns to face her. "Umbrella has them, but-" Ada tries to say, but Jill interrupts her.
"What? I thought the Wesker siblings had them?" she asks, confused.
"They did, however Umbrella found out where the Wesker's main base of operations was. They attacked the base and took them, however I can't tell you where they are right now." she informs her.
"Why not?" Jill asks, getting frustrated.
"They are being guarded by elite USS troops and there is a lot of them. If you and Leon go there now, you will die. I've seen enough of the both of you, to know that you'll take the risk." she said.
"..True." Jill reluctantly admits. She and Leon had been looking everywhere they go, in hopes in finding either Ada or the Redfield siblings. Now, Jill finally is getting Ada to talk, but according to her, it would suicidal to after Chris and Claire now.
"Here." Ada said, handing her a communications device. "This device, is a one way, one time, communications relay. I will contact you, to let you know when it is time to go get them as well as their location. You can't contact me, but I recommended not trying to take it apart. Do that or after I contact you, it will be inoperable. And I can't grantee that I'll run into you or Leon, before the Wesker's go after them."
"..Why are Chris and Claire important?" Jill asks. She had been thinking over as to why the Wesker siblings had them and now Umbrella.
"That relates to the warning I gave you, at the start of the conversation." Ada said.
Jill got the message, find out yourself. "Another reason, I told you this, is because Umbrella is not on my list of clients. If the Wesker siblings get them, don't expect anything, even if you save me again." Ada warns.
"I understand." Jill said, unhappily. 'Sadly, that makes sense. You don't do the line of work she does, by ratting on the clients.' Jill keeps that thought to herself, even though she's pretty sure, Ada sees right through her.
"Time to go." Ada said, turning to leave, this time for real.
"Thank you Ada." Jill calls after her, as she reaches the tree line, nearby.
Ada turns for the last time, before disappearing. Jill's team then finds her, "Valentine, are you all right?" Claude asks.
"Yes." Jill said, turning to them. She had already hid the device and purposefully, leads her team away, before they see a second pair of footprints in the snow.
Spencer has another meeting with the Wesker siblings.
Chris and Claire are being pursued by Sergei.
And Jill meets Ada.
I wonder what happens? Find out next week.
I tried tweaking the hunter monster a bit, to give some action... I'm not sure I pulled it off.
