Absolutely love the idea here and I hope to write more for this...maybe.
Safe House
The team climbed out of the two cars and headed up to the front door. The house was pushed off the street and had high hedges, to keep prying eyes away. The neighbours were near enough to make it a very close community, but everyone was far enough away from each other, that you didn't have neighbours leaning over your garden wall, neighbours were kept at a healthy distance for privacy.
"So this is the safe house?" Fitz asked as they all walked up to the front door. "This is the safest place I know." Phil admitted as Melinda pushed the door open and they all stepped into the house. Within seconds of closing the front door, a small Asian woman appeared at the end of the hallway. "Qiaolian." She says and Melinda hangs her jacket up before hurrying up to her and the two start speaking in quick Mandarin. The rest of the team all turn to look at Phil as the two women walk away. He instructs them to move into the living room on the left.
"This is May's home. Her childhood home anyway." Phil explained quietly as he dropped heavily into the chair in the corner. He hadn't been here for years, but everything was still the same. He used to visit all the time when they were still at the academy, but obviously, it quickly dwindled, once they graduated. He knew Lian would allow them to stay because she would do anything to protect Melinda and that hopefully included, housing her daughter's team. Phil wanted to go and argue his case, but knew Melinda would have a better chance without him.
"Was May a gymnast?" Skye asked from where she and Jemma were standing, inspecting the trophy cabinets of Melinda's youth, on either side of the large fireplace. "May did everything." Phil said as he got to his feet and moved to stand behind Skye. "She started off Ice Skating at about 7, then started Gymnastics at about 10." Phil explained and pointed out the different images and trophies. "She stopped Ice Skating because the Ice was too hard to be falling on. So she quit Ice Skating and moved onto Martial Arts, where the floor was padded." Phil explained with a smile. "She quit Gymnastics, shortly after she started martial arts, because she was too violent, to the other gymnasts." Phil said and the group all chuckled.
"I was not too violent Phil." Melinda said entering the room, her mother right behind her. Lian moves to stand next to Phil and smiles at one of the photos and then turns to the rest of the group. "She was a little violent." She admits and Melinda huffs annoyed. "Okay, for the first and last time. I was not violent, everyone else was weak." Melinda pointed out and everyone laughed. "Come, everyone, I will show you where you will be staying for the time being." Lian explained and the rest of the team got up and followed Lian out of the room.
"Think you can manage sharing a room with me?" Melinda asked as her and Phil were the only two left in the room. Phil steps closer, until he's near enough to wrap his arms around her waist. "Just like the old days then?" He comments quietly and Melinda smirks. "Although we're not 20 anymore, but we'll still have to sneak around behind your mother's back." Phil says and Melinda smiles and takes his arm and two head for the stairs. Knowing that Lian will keep the group occupied for a little while, meaning the two of them can re-settle into Melinda's old room, which probably looks the same as it has for the last 20 years.
