Stranger From Anther Realm
On the city-planet of Acmetropolis, in the old part of the city, a man-size two-side door appeared out of thin air in the form of Japanese sliding door as it opened up releasing mist all over the alley next to an abandoned factory next to the city. Among the white heavy mists, an old man jumped out of the door and swiftly landed on the ground, with the door shut closed and disappeared behind.
The mist faded and the old man stood up, patting his old robe with hand and slapped all the dust off. The old man himself stood tall and straight, with no hunch back problem or overall any health issues. He was an Asian, but more of a mixture of Japanese and Chinese per se in appearance, with white long hair that was pin into a bun in the back and beard long to reach the chest. For what he was wearing, a simple Chinese-Japanese mixed outfit with both elements of kimono and hanfu could be seen on him, and he was wearing white socks with black Chinese cloth shoes. His eyes was sparkling, given him a sense of handsome and charming despite being old.
There was a moment as he looked around the interior of the abandoned factory, which was fully deserted and covered with dust. No machines or living beings were in sight.
"This is something, a modern factory abandoned by its society..."The old man murmured to himself, lightly shaking his head and pity for the past glory became forgotten dust. He then walked out of the alley.
Upon reaching the street, the old man saw that he was among several abandoned buildings that were in the terrible conditions, which he wasn't expect of. Looking around while raised an eyebrow, he saw newer buildings down the street.
"Such a tragedy….The old era left those buildings, and the people forgot that history." The old man gave his long white beard a smooth long touch. "Alright, Chang, let yourself to see those new buildings. I know you hate the society, but learning is always inevitable."
Chang, the old hermit, started walking down the sidewalk and heading to the newer buildings.
As he walked, he suddenly stopped his track, stood his ground like a statue, with no any muscles moved by this moment. That moment, Chang's mind and brain suddenly appeared a series of memories and flashbacks when he was younger and bolder.
He raised up his head, looked up to the sky, and slowly closed his eyes while recalling every piece of his life that made up today's him:
"I'm tired of all this modern reality! From now on, I'm no Canadian or Chinese or Japanese nationality! I am Tenjū 'Chang' Ryunosūke! I betrayed the society and forever banish myself out of the mankind start from today!"
"Father! We the sons of you shall always remembering you in our heart…You shall always be our dear father, always, even we are all from different dimensions or timelines or universe…"
"Boss, we shall always thank you with our heart, for providing us support, even we are all the crime syndicates and means to disrupt the society."
"The Corps all shall remember a true saint, who is you! Everyone, salute to this young kind man with all our heart!"
"Chang and the principal of the Dragon Soul Academy, Cody Akira Ling, who was an Asian born African. "Cody, I shall never forget you even after we depart from the graduation!" "Chang, stop crying like a god-damn baby! WE are ALL grown-ass men, so cheer up!"
"I may be the very first governor of all Taiwan, but still…Thank you."
… …
All the memories flushed back into Chang's mind, retold the entire life of him like a biography story, and reminding him who he was, and shall always be.
Closing his eyes, Chang dropped some tears from his eyes, cheering on these precious moments that meant more than real gold and jewelry.
He released a long exhaled breathe, relived from such a marry-go-round that he always hold of.
"…My sons…My brothers…All of them…" He made a promise to himself in the heart that one day he and everyone of them shall meet up again altogether, and he shall cherished and keep up all the family bond with especially his dear sons.
Chang opened up his eyes while the tears still dropping down his cheeks; he look to that sky, it was not blue, yet he could felt some comfort.
Returned back to the reality, he wiped off his years realizing his situations.
'No time to cry, I still have to learn about this world.' His thoughts were determined and full of will. "I promise myself one day, I will live the rest of my life in peace."
Then, he continued his walking, roaming on the streets while admiring the landscape. Eventually, he came to the new buildings, which had a lot of lights, flashy signs, and interesting names.
All those city's environment reminded Chang of Japan's towns and streets, especially Tokyo; flashy neons illuminated the night, there were different shops and restaurants, and people's night life lighted up those dull darkness. And of course, these made him very uncomfortable as the signs kept hurting his eyes, the lights were too bright, and the interesting names started to ignite his hatred towards modern society.
But still, he kept calming himself down through deep breathes and thinking about some happy and positive thoughts
As he walked down the streets, still with his memories in his mind, he soon noticed among the new buildings a bookstore selling electronic calendars, books and magazines. Chang figured that he may learn about the date and place from this store, despite his hatred towards technology. "…I better give it a try." And so, he walked over, and entered.
As the door swung open, a bell jingled, signaling the owner that a potential customer had entered. "Why, good morning sir!" He said as he came out from around the counter. "How may I help you?"
Chang looked up at the man, and responded. "nah, I'm fine, I just looking around." The man nodded, and went behind the counter.
"Well, if you need anything, just ask." He said, getting a silent nod from the customer.
Chang breathed in, and out deeply, calming himself. He loved reading books, as this bring him a good feeling among words and literacy. He looks around, the noticed the a stack of newspaper near him.
'These old-school reports always tell with the date and place.' He thought, then proceed to pick up one, and quickly read it, wanting to figure out where or when he could end up in.
He eyes widened, his eyebrows narrowed, there was a feeling of disbelief came into his chest and fill up him at what he read. He was on a city-planet called "Acmetropolis" and the year was…2772.
He was in another world in the far future.
Such information caused Chang to breathed fast and be anxious, his eyes widened even more and his eyebrows narrowed so much they were forming a V.
Then suddenly, he felt a discomfort all over his body, both physical and mental, and heard voices in his head; they were his soul forms, trying to calm him down.
"Calm down, Chang my brother…"
"Control your breathes, clear your mind…"
"This is blasphemous! Erase that shock!"
He putted down the paper, stood still shaking his head. Then, he turned around, and went out the door, ignoring the owner's goodbye.
He walked and walked until he came to a park, distraught by the information he received. The soul forms continued calming him down, which he didn't heard them all as he was too distraughted.
Chang read the sign on the front, it said "Acmetropolis Park." "What I need." He remarked as he went into the park into the park.
He walked a good distance into the park, and sat down on a good spot of the grass field. He sat cross-legged, took off his upper clothes while checking no one if nearby, then went into deep meditation to calm himself.
Under the true meditation, his soul went out his body as his physical body remained still like a perfect statue. He was quickly calmed down while feeling the elements all coursing up his body, in his veins: the fire, the metal, the wind, the water, the earth, and other elements…
'I am Chang, The One, The Myself…" he kept repeating himself in the head, feeling the harmony in his soul, and the faith boosting up his will.
He was floating from the ground, and there was a golden light glowing out from him; first, is the halo light appeared in the back. Then, the golden divine light shines from him, lighting the sky with a bright light than the sun. As he opening up his eyes, the inside were shining with golden light and fire, completely covered up the real eyes.
Then, upon reached the top of divination where he finally cleared out his mind and see the truth. Chang clapped his hands together and did the prānāmāsama hand gesture. Then spread his arms wide open, as the lights burst out around.
He finally felt the harmony inside his heart and veins, as he slowly floating down to the ground and stood on their feet, with a smile on his face.
He putted back his upper clothes on him, tidy up himself.
"finally, inner harmony and peace." He could felt he was no longer stressed out nor anxious by the current, and remained a positive attitude.
Then, his expression turned determined. 'I still have to find out more about this Acmetropolis place, and figure out a way so return back to my beloved bamboo forest.' He looked around, he still in the park, and there no one around.
'I could just do my old way, wandering around like a vagrant like I used to be in the world of JiangHu.' He thought to himself, but with hesitation. 'I could also find a good place to settle…But who can accept me, an old hermit from away the society?'
Two weeks later…
Chang closed his eyes and felt the harmony within him as he stand around in the park. The first week he decided to wandering around this city-planet like he was in a RGP adventure game: collecting information as he moved all around the city, and learned about some of the rules in this futuristic society.
Then, on the second week, he had gotten himself situated in a small hotel for a decent price. He would change to his younger Chang Soul Form and helping out around the place, and he also work as a jack of all trades, doing this and that occasionally.
He learned that Acmetropolis's local money, or currency, was called credits. He found out first when he went out to pay for his room at the hotel. Luckily, despite he was old and a hermit, he was still able to work something out with the nice elderly man at the hotel.
He stood near the lake and he looked at it, the water was harmonious, and the perfect silence built up more harmony in his heart. Occasionally, he would do some of his martial arts self-training in the park, rather it would be ancient martial arts from the past, or modern fighting styles he learned by self-taught. He would also summon out his weapons and do checking, maintaining them to keep them in the best and the most perfect shape.
The park provided him a quiet place to release his negative emotions and thoughts, while also allowing him to find himself with deep thinking. Reality could be not perfect, that's true of course, but sometimes you could always find the beautiful parts to make your life colorful. In other words, what kind of life you want to live out? And this question, you could answer yourself.
Now, although he was away from the society for so many years, he was still able to adapt to this city-planet Acmetropolis, just sometimes he would need to watch out all those technology stuffs.
He breathed in, and exhaled out. "Ahh…now that's the feel." He murmured to himself while gave his long white beard a smooth long touch. He was like a hermit, and a grandmaster from the mountains.
At this very moment, Chang suddenly opened his eyes and narrowed his eyebrows and he sensed danger nearby, and he finally heard, "HELP ME! PLEASE!"
Upon hearing someone's cry for help in the distance, he realized something was wrong. He immediately jumped high in the sky, then used up QingGong as he flied fast and swiftly to the source of the sound.
During his QingGong and searching for the faint cry, he couldn't help but wonder why only him could heard this, ignoring the winds blowing on his face. He flied and jumped through buildings and streets, landing on rooftops to jump and fly while looking down at the bright city.
Soon after, he came to one of the abandoned buildings, where the cry for help was coming from. It looked like any abandoned building, but one floor had a light on. He could see it, near the bottom of the building. This led Chang to raise suspicions, as this meant some shady people were committing crimes.
He took a deep breath. 'Those fools shall regret.' He headed into the building, with a heart ready to kill.
Upon entering the building, he immediately saw the elevators were out, to which he only rolled his eyes.
'I knew those technologies are nothing but trash.' He thought in frustration. 'Beside, you're already learned QingGong technique, why you need those elevators?'
In one second, he jumped with great height silently, and then moving up the floors with silent yet swift movement without alerting the people inside. Such swiftly movement was even more effective than the aerobatics.
Eventually, he reached the third floor, and lay low and be stealthy. He saw that the light was coming from a room down the hallway, which had its door open, allowing the light to escape into the hallway. Chang narrowed his eyebrows, and moved very stealthy like a true ninja, toward to the room while watching out the discarded boxes, bottles, and papers scatted across the floor. While he was reaching closer to the room, he clenched his fist, ready to show up in the moment and fight with his martial arts.
As he got closer, he could hear a conversation in the room up ahead.
"C-come o guys. P-p-please don't hurt me!" A nervous voice, a male by sounding of voice, stuttered.
"No way man! You fell into our trap! Now you have to pay us to get out of it!" A rough male voice said, causing Chang to felt his rage of fire burning up.
Taking some poor soul's advantage in their most dire situation?! They'll never see it coming.
Once he made it to open door, he closed his eyes and felt the flow of Qi energy inside the room. He saw three burly men, each wearing ski masks, boots and dirty clothes, pointing guns at a young man, approximately in his mid-twenties, kneeling on the floor while shaking in terror.
At first, Chang was having thoughts to kill, then he realized his mistakes in the past; something he would always remind himself what happen if he killed someone innocent by accident.
'I would NOT let it happen again.' He thought to himself, then shift into Younger Soul Form, while his voice warned him in the ming.
"I leave this rescue to you, young-me, but no matter what you do, do NOT kill any single one of them."Chang warned his younger soul form. "Remember, we are saving people, not going to start a brutal war."
'yeah yeah, I know it, old-me.' Young Chang replied back with thoughts. 'I'll show those bad guys what is called fighting spirits.'
He controlled his breathes through special technique, and unlocked his brain's sealed potential, causing him to felt the time slowed down in a sudden.
With a teleport-instant move, he immediately appeared out in the back of the masked men, and delivered a powerful karate kick right in the back head of one of them, knocking him out cold!
"Run, you idiot, just RUN!" He shouted at the terrified young man. "I'll take care of the rest and I'll be okay, you have to go!"
"Alright man, you don't have to tell me twice!" The terrified young man said as he ran away. He didn't know who had knocked one of the hoodlums, but he wasn't going to look a gift horse in the mouth. Soon he was out of the building, heading home. 'That's the last time I answered a random "wanted" ad!'
Meanwhile, Young Chang swiftly took down all the thugs thanks to his masteries in all combat styles, as the thug landed on the ground unconscious and probably won't wake up days or so. He picked up the guys, examining them.
"Laser guns, sci-fi tech." He said. "Heh, but why they are useful to me?" He destroyed them and crushed all those guns into bits and dust.
He took some robes and tied the thugs up together. "My job here is job."
And so, Young Chang returned to the Soul Realm, and Chang changed back to his original old man self.
Chang then felt an unknown sensation he turned around the looked at his surroundings as if someone were nearby. But there was no one except him, and the thugs out cold on the floor. 'Weird, but why do I keep feeling I am not along after all?'
He looked at the thugs on the ground, still unconscious, probably won't be able to wake up for days. Still, he decided to bring them with him, as at least someone needed to close them up in jail.
Chang took them out of the building, which collapsed and turned into dust. He looked back, only to saw a rubble now where the building has stood. "Yep, Jerry-building, or maybe I just used up too much power."
'Now the problems are solved, and I could finally relax.' He signed with relief. 'Now, what should I do now? I am hungry of course, but where I can find something that fit my taste and appetite? Or maybe, I could just buy myself some good snacks to eat…nah, those junk food won't bring me some good taste, '
While he was thinking about his meal plan for the night, he was shaken from it when he heard the sounds of motorcycles, causing him to turn around. Once he did, that sight caught his attention.
Six different colored motorcycles with six different colored drivers had pulled up, with the drivers jumping off the cycles. Each one is different, not just in color, but in size and species as well.
The first driver was a hulking creature, wearing a black jumpsuit with purple trim, a purple belt, and a purple triangle in the center of the chest. The helmet was rather large and close to the shoulders like a person under it had ducked their head, and for some reason, he couldn't see into the helmet at all in normal eyesight. Chang also noted that this driver had purple hair on their hands and a stubby purple tail.
The second driver was a female, he deduced by her slim feminine figure, and it was enough to call her sexy. She also wearing a similar jumpsuit but with pink. Her helmet was smaller, and a pair of pink bunny ears with black backs stuck out with a point, along with a light green ribbon. He also couldn't see into her helmet as well. He noted as well that she had pink fur on her hands and a bright pink bunny tail.
The third driver was a male with similar body shape with the previous second driver, wearing a similar jumpsuit but with yellow. His helmet was also small, and a pair of yellow bunny ears with black backs stuck out as well. He noted that he had yellow fur on his hands and a jet-black bunny tail.
The fourth driver was smaller than the rest and was wearing a similar jumpsuit but with orange on it. Chang sensed his Qi is male. His helmet was small, but not as small as the rabbit's, with a wide front and a long bottom. He also noted that he had orange feathers on his hand and a small black bird tail.
The fifth driver, who Chang deduced was a male when he sensed his Qi, was also wearing a similar jumpsuit but with red. His helmet was small, with a short narrow front, and allowed a red feather crest to stick out on top. He had red feathers on her hands and long red tail feathers that stuck straight up. He also had three toed boots that kind of looked like bird feet.
The sixth and final driver, which Chang deduced was a male with Qi detection technique, had similar body shape with the rabbits and was wearing a similar jumpsuit but with green. There was also a green computer screen on his left arm. His helmet was longer than the others, and had two green canine ears with black backs sticking out. He had green fur on his hands and a bright green canine tail.
Overall, their appearances reminded of Chang of some cartoon characters he used to watch in younger days.
The yellow rabbit came up to him, causing him to raise his caution. What was he going to do?
"Eh, what's up doc?" He said with some sort of accent. He wasn't expecting that.
"I'm fine, young man." Chang replied with the best way he could find, acted cool while gave his beard a long smooth touch "Just some old guy walking around the street and admiring and city. And yeah, stopped those jerks from hurting a poor guy."
He nodded. "Alright, so you stopped them. How do you do that doc?" He asked, crossed his arms.
Chang raised an eyebrow. "young lad, you too eager to know me, doesn't it? However, I don't want to say it, as I would not wish to spill out my secrets. Just, it's not the time yet."
He nodded in understanding. "Alright, I get it doc. We can discuss this back at our base." He said, getting a serious look while smoothing his long beard. From what Chang could tell by the other's body language, they were shocked by this.
"Ace, are you sure about this? We don't know anything about this old man." Said the canine, catching the yellow rabbit's attention. From just the way he spoke, Chang got a feeling that he was a scientist, or rather, an intellectual for now.
"Yeah!" The red bird said excitedly. "Whatdoyouwanttobringastrangertothebase? WhatwouldZadavidasay?" He spoke rapidly. Almost too rapid for Chang to follow, but he still able to.
"Rev, calm down. I can barely understand you when you're excited like this." The yellow rabbit, now identified as "Ace", said to the red bird. "And to answer your question Tech." He continued, looking at the green canine. "I'm invited him because I want to know how he beat those thugs, and he said he'll tell us when it's the time. So why not on our home turf?"
"Plus, I only choose some worthy ones to heard me out." Chang interrupted in this moment, causing all the drivers to look back at him. "If I just talk it out loud in this place, someone in the darkness might overheard us, and I don't wish to cause some troubles."
"Tech" was silent for a few seconds, and then nodded. "Alright, after hearing those arguments, I don't see what's wrong with bringing him back to base." Ace nodded, and then looked at the other three drivers.
Meanwhile, Young Chang's voice appeared in Chang's mind. "Geez, man, we finally have some good place so we could call home."
'Not for permanent, young me. But may let us to settle down.' Chang replied with thoughts. 'Anyway, how's your injury?'
"Thanks for the I.S.C.I. Corporation's healing systems, it was fully healed. However, next time warn me about the upcoming danger… at least."
Back to reality, Ace spoke up, causing Chang to opening up his eyes.
"Do you guys have a problem at all with bringing him to our base?" He said, jerking a thumb at Chang. They shook their head, seeing that Ace has made up his mind. "Well alright then," he said, turning to look back at him. "You ready to go?"
Chang touched his chin. "I would, with pleasure." But then, he turned and looked at the unconscious thugs. "But first, I need to let the justice system take care of them."
"Alrighty then doc, I'll have them taken care of for you. Ace said, before turning to Rev. "Rev, ready to make a delivery?"
Rev nodded, and Chang watched in silent as Rev became a red blue that shot over to the thugs and disappeared with them. A few seconds later, he returned, causing a gust of winds to hit him in a few seconds. The white long hair flew with the wind, yet Chang remained unmoved.
"Super speed!" One of Chang's old friend, Captain Hook of the Golden Hook Pirate Gang, shouted with delight in the realm.
'Shut up!' Chang yelled at him, then turned to Ace. "I guess I don't understand this, maybe you'll explain for me."
"Of course doc, but you gotta tell us some stuff in return, alright?" He said with a grin. He slightly nodded.
"No argument here young lad." He said. "So those fools took their lessons, are we ready to go?"
"Yes we are doc." Ace said with a thumps up. "So, who you gonna pick to ride with back to the base?"
"Heh, don't need this." Chang said with a smile.
"Don't need this?" The six looked at him with confusion.
Then, Chang made some Taoist hand-gestures, murmuring ancient Mandarin spell.
"Wind, blow for me!"
In one second, strong winds blew around them without warning, and as the six watched in amazement and shock, Chang flew up in the sky and floating as the wind heard his command and carrying him while he was standing in the thin air.
Ace's eyes widened. "But…How…"
"Ancient Eastern magic." Chang explained. "But that's just one little tip of the my iceberg."
"Ancient Eastern magic?" Tech repeated in disbelief. "But, there are technologies and science, magic don't exi—"
"Magic DO exist, from where I came." Chang interrupted with a stern voice. "Now then, lead the way young lads, I'll follow up."
Ace and the rest all came to their senses, and took off while Chang followed in the same speed in the sky. They were heading to some location he was interested to see.
This is the beginning of a new version of the Loonatics Universe.
I made Chang himself a character from the Eastern part, and one who mix both ancient and future, tech and magic into one, creating a new way.
Also, although this story took inspiration from PuzzleMaster1998's story, but it contains no Harem, gender-bending, and transformation, but does include magic.
I hope you readers enjoy the stories so far. I'll write more stories and updating them whenever I have free time.
