It turns out that Chaos, Graves and Nomad were paying Roach a visit at his grave in Scotland when Makarov and Yuri pulled their plane crash off. As soon as word about the terrorist attack got out, which took no time at all, they piggybacked every single surveillance camera in London and found Czar 9-1 just as his former best friend and business partner disappeared.
Eager to get to the bottom of Operation Lethal Passenger, they quietly extracted Yuri from St. Thomas' Hospital and kept him in their nearest and most used black site. August 29th, 2026 - 00:10:13, Rogue Team Temporary Headquarters, Outskirts of Oslo, Norway, Czar 9-1 finally wakes up, and his rescuers are prepared to welcome him back to the land of the living.
[Yuri gasps and controls his breathing]
Chaos: Rise and shine, Yuri Volkov. You got some serious explaining to do.
Yuri: Americans? *looks around* Where am I?
Graves: If you cooperate, we'll tell you. Consider yourself lucky because I doubt the British Government would be as attentive as we are.
Chaos: Besides, hospitals can be some of the most dangerous places you'll find yourself in. Especially when you've committed the terrorist attack that started World War 3 or tried to expose the Deep State's latest master plan or both.
Yuri: Then you should listen to me very carefully. If we are to stand a chance against Makarov and his shadowy friends in the West, then I must take you to the very beginning.
Chaos: Go on. We're listening.
Yuri: I was young and patriotic... *sighs* and foolish when I first met Vladimir Makarov.

Makarov: (flashback) (Russian) Yuri, wake up. Zakhaev wouldn't want you to miss this.
Yuri: (flashback) *yawns* (Russian) Of course. Damn, it's hot out here. Can you tell me again why this shithole desert is so important?
Makarov: (flashback) (Russian) Ah, the extended reach of our military thanks to this place, the oil beneath the ground we walk on, and much more, young apprentice. The complete capture of Afghanistan will generate billions for our cause. Money can buy many things, even power. The road to our future begins here, my friend.
Yuri: (flashback) (Russian) I see.
It turns out Yuri was there when Captain Price broke Marshal Farah Karim and her old squad out of Russian Armed Forces custody and almost killed President Imran Zakhaev. He and Makarov were the ones who saved him from death.
Imran Zakhaev: (flashback) *nods* (Russian) Makarov. Volkov.
Makarov: (flashback) *nods* (Russian) Mr. President.
Yuri: (flashback) *nods* (Russian) Mr. President. Don't salute in country, kids. Are you trying to get your president killed?
[explosions]
[Imran Zakhaev painfully screams]
Viktor Zakhaev: (flashback) (Russian) Yuri, what is happening?!
Yuri: (flashback) (Russian) We are under attack! Your father was caught in the blast of a hidden bomb! He WILL live, but his left arm is gone!
Viktor Zakhaev: (flashback) (Russian) Give him most of the base's medical personnel and equipment and put him on a plane back to Russia immediately!
Yuri: (flashback) (Russian) Yes, Prime Minister! *helps Imran Zakhaev up* (real-time) (English) Zakhaev never forgot what we did for him that day. Our reward was power. But power corrupts.
He tells Rogue Team that he was at the Wembley Stadium when the Ultranationalist Inner Circle attacked it six years ago.

[British Crowd cheers and claps]
Makarov: (flashback) (Russian) Today, we show the world our true strength. Perhaps it will give you some as well.
Yuri: (flashback) (Russian) How?
Makarov: (flashback) (Russian) You'll see. Get your bag. (text message) (English) Gear up.
Kamarov, Yuri, Ivan, Andrei and Hadir: (text message) Ready.
Makarov: (text message) God is with us. No English.
Yuri: (real-time) (English) The seeds of a future World War... planted and flourishing... by the pull of a trigger.
Makarov: (flashback) (Russian) Understand, Yuri. This is only the beginning.

He also reveals that he tried to get him killed before and was the reason why the F.S.B. and O.M.O.N. responded to the massacre of Sheremetyevo Alexander S. Pushkin International Airport earlier than expected.

Kamarov: (flashback) (Russian) Senior Lieutenant Fyodor Kamarov.
Yuri: (flashback) (Russian) It's Yuri Volkov. Don't hang up. Listen, I know you have no reason to trust me, but there is a limit to what one man can do alone. You were right to capture Makarov, but he's free now and planning an attack on Sheremetyevo Alexander S. Pushkin International Airport today. You need to get all of Russia's finest there now.
Kamarov: (flashback) (Russian) (sarcastically) Oh, now that is serious. Let's see if I can convince Russia's finest to walk into one of the Ultranationalists' death traps and not tell you to fuck yourself.
Yuri: (flashback) (Russian) God dammit, Kamarov! This is real! I need your help!
Kamarov: (flashback) *laughs* (Russian) Real?! What the fuck is real?! Real because it's you?!
Yuri: (flashback) (Russian) Real because— Shit! Just get there! Makarov is going to wiretap me now! *hangs up* (real-time) (English) This wasn't war. It was madness.
Makarov: (flashback) I know what you have done, Yuri. I know what you wanted the C.I.A. and MI6 to do to us in that elevator. I know what you have told F.S.B. and O.M.O.N. My friend, my ally, my betrayer. What just happened here, Toronto, Sydney and Moscow today will change the world forever. Nothing can stop what is coming. Not even you. *reveals Desert Eagle Mark XIX*
[Desert Eagle Mark XIX fire]
[Yuri painfully grunts and heavily breathes]
He was there, for all of it, slinking behind, just out of view.
Graves: Shit. That's one hell of a way to gain a conscience and switch sides. Lucky for you, we know not everyone from the other side is bad and we can read between the lines well. But despite all these answers, there's still one more question. What are you gonna do now?
Yuri: If I were given a second chance in life, I would become a soldier of Russia. Not a taker of innocent lives. Even if it will make me the enemy in the eyes of those I used to call "family". I would rather act and make things right in spite of my past than hide in shame. Will you help me?
Chaos: Nomad?
Nomad: Rogue Team is yours. I'm just its teacher. You pick the mission. Don't let it pick you.
Chaos: Congratulations, Yuri Volkov. You're being saved by a group of big believers in second chances. *extends right hand* Welcome to Rogue Team. Don't waste it now.
Yuri: *shakes Chaos's hand* Thank you, my friends. You won't regret this. I promise.
Chaos: The name's Major James Ramirez, callsign: Chaos. The man in black is Commander Phillip Graves, Shadow Company. And the teacher with the blade scar across his face is Major Franklin Keener, callsign: Nomad.
Graves: Glad to have you in our corner, Yuri.
Yuri: Hi. So, what kind of medical movement am I looking at?
Nomad: You were in a medically induced coma for nearly two days. I took out the shrapnel. The bullet went through you clean. You would've died in St. Thomas' Hospital's waiting area if we didn't get you outta there.
Yuri: Thank you, sir. Do I still need some time before I can work with you?
Nomad: Just a few more hours and a couple of meds for full functionality, and you'll be fine. Get healthy first, but do it quick. *turns TV on* The fire Makarov started is consuming the world as we speak. Chaos, Graves, ready up. We're leaving in seven hours.
Chaos: You got it, Nomad.
Graves: *nods* Oh, by the way, Yuri, we're in a temporary HQ of ours just outside Oslo.
Yuri: Norway?
Graves: Yeah. We're about to take a big step, boss. We'll be hitting Task Force 141 and the Deep State directly. No more working from the shadows.
Chaos: Then it's time to reorganize into a unit that'll really give 141 a run for its money. I'm activating Task Force Rogue. Effective immediately. I'll pass the word once everyone's up.
Graves: I'll rally everyone on you.
Nomad: *pulls out smartphone* Access Code: White Ninja. Get me a secure line to asset: Unseen Handler. Yeah. Task Force Rogue is active, and Yuri Volkov is on board.

MAJ. James 'Chaos' Ramirez
Delta Force, Shadow Company, Marine Raider Regiment, 1st Bn., 75th Ranger Regiment, JTF 2, Australian S.A.S.R. Task Force Rogue
20 Miles West of Oslo, Norway
--
After spending the dark early morning watching Top Gun, Top Gun: Maverick and Top Gun: Lonestar (fictional third movie) consecutively and remembering his fallen friends and loved ones simultaneously, Delta Force Major James 'Chaos' Ramirez soaks in his blue, pink and violet neon-lit room for the last time while listening to Alan Walker's "Play (Alan Walker x Niya Remix)". Then, he gets to the hardest shooting gallery/course Nomad created.
A training ground with close, mid and long range engagements, up close and far away targets, obstacles that require flawless parkour in full gear, and a long final section that can only be cleared by firing while at full sprint and some more acrobatics. A test that demands everything an Operator has and then some.
And Chaos is determined to complete it the fastest with a particular piece of movie soundtrack playing in his headset.
Chaos: Just like in the dry run. Use the first 20 seconds to get hyped. Begin on that mark. Give it everything you've got. Have fun out there.
[The Super Mario Bros. Movie Soundtrack's Superstars plays]
[Ramirez presses the start button]
[door opens]
[buzzer sounds off]
[M4V9 fire]
[Chaos jumps through door gaps and checks all sides and corners simultaneously while keeping his M4V9 up]

Chaos: (mentally) Final section. My favorite.
[Chaos climbs up to a mock-up outpost building's roof Assassin's Creed style]
[X-45 Tactical fire]
[Chaos grabs, swings and slides down the mock-up outpost building's rooftop winch with one hand and shoots more targets below with the other before jumping off, switching back to his REAPR midjump, landing and rolling, and continuing to run and gun all the way to the end]
[REAPR fire]
[Chaos hops on four obstacles and backflips over the last one before sliding across the finish line]
[buzzer sounds off]
[song ends]
As the dust settles, Rogue 1 learns that he now holds the shortest time of completion, 1:10, beating Nomad's record of 1:20.
Chaos: Thank you, Delta Force.
Nomad: *claps* *laughs* I knew you could do it!
Graves: Whoo! Great runnin' and gunnin', Tex.
Helen: Good thing I recorded that run. There's so many picture-perfect shots here.
Frost: Shit, dude. I thought beating Nomad's record was impossible.
Jackson: Did you just turn Major Nomad's hardest test into a Super Mario Bros. level?
Chaos: Maybe. I even had Superstars playing in my headset.
Blizzard: Keith, Barry and Joseph would've loved that, kiddo. So, is it official?
Chaos: Given current events, yes. Task Force Rogue is up and running. Let's finish this.
Task Force Rogue: HOOAH! OO-RAH!
Chaos: You holding up alright, Yuri?
Yuri: Yes. Thank you.
Nomad: Come with me. I'll show you around.
