JPOV

Leaving Bella behind in Forks was the worst decision we as a coven have ever made. Emmett and I were the only ones who seemed to have an issue with just packing up and leaving without even saying goodbye to her. For a coven that claimed they loved her so much, they sure did a piss-poor job of showing that love.

Honestly, certain people in the coven seem to forget that I am an empath. There is nothing that gets past me. Since Alice had been giving off vibes of deception since before Bella's birthday, I decided to play things cool. Frankly, I didn't trust her.

Alice seems to think that she can "see" everything, but that really isn't the case. I have had fifty years to figure out how her gift of sight works. During that time, I mastered the ability to thwart it. Normally, I wouldn't ever hold someone's gift against them, but Alice tries to force her visions and has no issues with invading other people's privacy. Let's not forget that she uses her visions in order to manipulate others. That is something I abhor greatly.

I also spent that time figuring out how to keep Edward out of my thoughts. While he cannot shut his gift off, he walks around like he is entitled to know every thought a person has at all times. The number of times I had to teach him to mind his own business is incalculable.

When Emmett suggested we all head to the Tang Soo Do competition in Florida, we all looked at him as if he had lost his mind. Florida was sunny, very sunny. How the hell were we all going to pull that off?

He told us it would be fine since it was going to be raining non-top for three days. Alice confirmed that there would be no sun, so we would be able to go and enjoy ourselves. The family agreed, and everyone was excited.

What the family didn't know was that Emmett and I would often meet in secret when we were both out hunting. Our secret meetings have been going on since the family abruptly left Forks. Neither of us was too happy about what had transpired, and both of us were very suspicious about the family's ability to forget the human they had all claimed to love so much.

"Em, what the hell were you thinking?" I asked him as I hopped up on a boulder to sit.

"Bro, listen, I'm not going crazy, at least no more than unusual," he replied with a dimpled grin. "I have made a discovery that should be a huge help to us." With that, he pulled out his cell and opened up his YouTube account. He quickly loaded a video and handed the phone to me. "Watch," he ordered.

The video was from two years ago and was recorded during a martial arts competition. I watched as a younger Bella Swan went up against a guy who was almost as big as Emmett. Bella's speed was impressive for a human, and her flying back kick was perfectly executed. She managed to quickly score three points and won that match. Little Bella Swan beat an Emmett-sized giant. I was impressed.

I paused the video and looked up at Emmett. "When did you find this?" I asked with curiosity.

"I found it last week. I can't tell you how shocked I was. It was so difficult to play it cool around the family when all I wanted to do was yell and cheer. Bella Swan is badass now."

"You have been hiding this for over a week, and Edward never picked up on it?" I asked more than impressed with what he managed to pull off.

"Yea, and hiding it was the hardest thing I have ever done. Besides Edward's guaranteed temper tantrum, Rosalie would have been pissed," he admitted to me with an eye roll and a sigh.

Rosalie was jealous of Bella Swan and has been from day one. All her claims about disliking her because she posed a threat to the family were nothing more than utter bullshit. Rosalie was jealous that Bella had managed to attract Edward when he never even looked twice at Rosalie. She was spoiled and expected everyone to fall down at her feet and worship her beauty. Her ego was bruised, and she decided to take it out on the human.

"I can imagine. Rosalie is still jealous of Bella. That's one thing I don't think will ever change," I told him.

"Yea, I know, and I have told her multiple times that Bella didn't do a damn thing that would have given Rosalie a reason to hate her, but you know Rose never listens to anyone," he said sadly as he sat down next to me.

As an empath, I feel what everyone is feeling. Feelings cannot lie. "Em, you know I'm here for you, right?" I asked him knowing that he was having his own doubts about his relationship with Rosalie.

"Yea, I know, man, and I appreciate it. It's just hard putting up with Rose just as much as it is to put up with Edward and Alice," he said sadly.

"Yeah, I'm with you there. Alice has been lying her face off and still thinks I don't know. Every time she tries to pretend everything is alright, I just want to haul off and beat something," I admitted to him.

"Honestly, man, I don't know how much more I can take. I am disgusted with the coven and Carlisle's inability to do any actual leading. This whole situation is a mess," he grumbled.

"I feel the same way, Em. I have had it. I think it's time we reach out to Ms. Swan and let her know the truth. She deserves it," I said looking back at the video I had paused.

"Good, so how do you want to do this?"

"We go with everyone to the competition. I have a feeling Edward is going to flip his lid when he sees Bella competing. I don't trust him, so I would feel better if I was there," I replied thoughtfully.

Emmett nodded in agreement. "I agree with you there, brother. There is just something about this whole mess that makes me very uncomfortable."

"No kidding, Em, the whole thing is suspect," I replied still not at ease with any of it and not likely to be any time soon.

"Jas, man, I have to tell ya. I'm concerned about the possibility of the Volturi finding out about Bella. I would hate to see her killed because Eddie is a controlling asshole and Carlisle doesn't have the balls to stand up to him," he said with a shake of his head. "I mean, how the hell do you become the head of a coven but let others make all the decisions?"

"I've had the same concern. I can tell you that Bella was wholeheartedly ready to become a vampire. She accepted that as her future. Regardless of how many times Edward tried to claim that she couldn't possibly understand what she was choosing, she knew. Her feelings were so strong on the matter," I told him in all seriousness. "I would be pissed if they found out and killed her because Edward is a douche."

"They better not even think it," he said while cracking his knuckles. "That's my baby sister. I may have done a poor job at protecting her before, but I have learned from my mistakes."

"Honestly, EM, I don't think it's a matter of you not doing a good job of protecting her. I think the wonder twins had something to do with it," I told him with a pat on his back. "Listen, we need to do something asap in order to make sure that whatever Edward and Alice have planned doesn't come to fruition."

"It's been five years since we left. Do you really think they are still up to something after all this time," he asked.

"Em, I can tell you that both of them have been giving off deceitful vibes since almost immediately after we met Bella. The fact that those vibes have not dissipated in five years screams that they are still plotting something," I said as I stood up and began to pace in front of him. I was thinking about how to go about getting in contact with her when an idea came to mind. "Hey, Em, does the video happen to mention which karate school Bella goes to?"

"No, it doesn't, but there are several videos with her in them. Maybe we can find out it if we watch them all," he suggested as he began to scroll through YouTube in search of more videos.

I felt my cell vibrate in my pocket and I fished it out to see who sent me a text. Tell Emmett to watch the video titled World Tang Soo Do Comp. 2021 The Swan the text read. "Hey, Em, Peter says to watch the video named Tang Soo Do Comp. 2021 The Swan," I told him.

"On it," he said absentmindedly as he rapidly typed the title into the search bar. "Ah...here it is," he loudly proclaimed. We watched the video in awe of Bella's skills with the Si. Watching her wield such a weapon while demonstrating her martial arts skills was very exciting. Honestly, she looked hot. When the video ended we paused it so that we could get a look at the description. Bingo! Master Joon's Tang Soo Do was the name of her karate school. "Remind me that we owe Peter a favor. He literally just cut down our search time."

"Yea, his gift does come in handy. Now, all we have to do is Google to see the address," I said as I pulled out my cell and typed the name into Google.

The address that came up was in Port Angeles, Washington near the shopping district. "We should have no issues finding the place. It's in Port Angeles," I told him feeling slightly relieved.

"So how do you want to go about doing this? Should we show up at her competition and try to talk to her, or do we wait until she's back in Forks?"

"We go with the family to Florida. I think it's important to get an idea of what Alice and Edward are going to do once they see Bella. Plus it will give us a better idea of Bella's mindset regarding the family," I told him.

"I can tell you what her mindset is. She hates us. I know damn well that if I was ditched the way we ditched her after claiming she was family, I would want to see us burn," Emmett admitted sadly. "Man, I just wish were had been able to sneak back to Forks like we wanted to."

"I do too, Em, but we are playing a dangerous game here. Something is going on with Alice and Edward and we cannot trust them around Bella. Look at what happened at her party," I reminded him.

"That's another thing. Why the fuck did they always try to control her? Bella hates parties and made it abundantly clear that she didn't want one, but they just ignored her. I don't get it," Emmett said in frustration.

"You know, Em, I have my suspicions. I can tell you that beyond a shadow of a doubt that Bella was never Edward's mate like he tried to claim," I said.

"Even I figured that out, and I'm not the most observant individual. Anyone with two eyes can see how much he was hurting her. It is a well-known fact that mates can never harm each other in any way. Eddie boy seemed to get some sick pleasure from making Bella miserable," Emmett replied.

"That's the point. His feelings regarding Bella were not lovey-dovey at all. In fact, his feelings carried with them a very malevolent edge," I explained.

Emmett thought about it for a moment. "Whatever we do, we cannot let those two find out. This brings to mind another question I had for you. How are you going to handle your mate? Doesn't this put you in an odd spot?"

"Now that is the big question. It has come to my attention that Alice is not my mate. Of course, her coming home from hunting smelling like a whorehouse screamed volumes."

"Wait! When? I didn't pick that up," he said.

"She tries to sneak into the house through the upstairs balcony. I didn't become the youngest major during the Civil War because I was unobservant. I have been spying on her for quite some time, and she still has no clue," I said with a sly grin.

"I meant to ask you about that. How the hell are you flying under her radar?" Emmett asked me.

Instead of giving him a reply, I pulled a key chain out of my pocket. There was nothing too special about it apart from the fact that it had a very large fang dangling from it. "This is my secret," I said as I waved it in front of his face.

"Whoa, is that what I think it is?" he asked in excitement.

"If you are thinking that it is a fang from one of the Quileute wolves then you would be correct," I said smugly.

"Do I even want to know how the hell you got your hands on it?"

"Peter," was my only response.

"Enough said. I swear he's more accurate than Alice," Emmett said with a laugh.

"That's because he is. Alice's visions are based on decisions. When Peter gets his 'feelings' they tell him the actual future, what really is going to happen."

"OK, so now that you have that lovely trinket, you are completely blocked from her," he said.

"Not just me, Em, but anyone who is with me which includes you," I told him.

Emmett smiled, "Perfect," he said. "It feels like forever since I had any privacy."

We made tentative plans since everything was hitching on the family's reaction to seeing Bella Swan in a martial arts competition. We both agreed that we needed to keep a very close eye on the wonder twins. They were the key that would unravel whatever was planned.

We took a flight to Orlando almost immediately. The family was excited to be able to go to the competition. We all loved martial arts, so this was a good plan.

It was during the sparring competition when Alice screeched and started pointing in the opposite directions. We all looked over to where she was pointing and saw Bella. She was dressed in her dobok with a black belt tied tightly around her waist. The single white stripe on her belt indicated that she was a first-level black. It was very impressive that she managed to get that far in five years.

"Check it out! Bella's competing," Emmett yelled out in excitement.

"Who cares?" Rosalie replied with an ugly sneer.

"I care," Emmett retorted sharply. I could feel his anger and the growing hatred he had for his wife. I sent him a wave of calm so he wouldn't blow our cover.

We turned our attention back to Bella to see her step up to the platform for her match. Watching her spar in person was way different than watching a video on YouTube. She was fantastic. She was also surprisingly fast for a human.

Her match was over in no time, and she was the winner. She received her trophy which was taller than her and made her way over to the other students from her karate school. The final competition of the tournament was up next, and she was preparing for it.

We moved up closer so that we could get a better visual without anyone jumping in front of us and blocking our view. Emmett was cheering loudly, and Rosalie continued sneering and bitching the entire time. "Rose, shut it. If you don't want to be here then leave. No one is forcing you to be here," he said angrily.

The feelings the family was giving off were concerning. Rosalie's hatred toward Bella was spiking. Esme was feeling guilty. Alice and Edward were still giving off suspicious vibes, and Carlisle was shocked.

It was Bella's turn, and she walked up to the platform with her bo staff in hand. After bowing to the officials, her music began. What proceeded was one of the most impressive displays I have ever seen. Bella was a master. There was no doubting it. How she managed to be both graceful and deadly was astounding especially when you consider how clumsy she use to be. This Bella was an entirely new person. I had a feeling the Cullens are not going to be prepared to handle this new version of Bella Swan.

And what do you know, I was right. They insisted on waiting for her by the locker rooms where they could pounce on her the moment she walks out. Emmett and I stood back to watch their foolishness.

She was not happy to see them. The amount of disgust she was emitting was intense. Her hatred of both Alice and Edward was almost palpable. She laid down the law and didn't give a damn about how they felt nor did she care for their lies. She saw right through them. She saw through Edward's empty apology.

It was glorious to watch her put Rosalie in her place as well. Five years ago, she never would have even considered it. She was so shy when we first met her. Now, she didn't put up with anyone's bullshit.

She was very gracious to me when I apologized for my part in her birthday disaster. Her feelings were honest. She really didn't blame me and was never upset with me. She blamed the blunder twins. That much was obvious.

After she said her piece, she left with Master Joon. She never looked back. Alice and Edward were pissed. Yea, they were definitely up to something.

DPOV

It wasn't often that we the guard were given some time off to pursue our own projects. After completing our last mission in record time, the masters agreed that the elite guard had earned a brief respite from our usual day-to-day activities as the enforcers for the Volturi.

We had all gotten together and agreed to watch the Tang Soo Do competition that was being televised from Orlando, FL. The competition was said to be the final one our favorite fighter was competing in. We anticipated a spectacular performance from Isabella Swan.

Both Jane and Alec managed to coax masters Aro and Caius to watch. Caius was sure to enjoy the fighting given who he was in his human life. Aro just loved the martial arts in general. Master Marcus refused to join us which was very typical for him. He preferred his solitude.

There was loud cheering as we watch the Swan step up to the platform for her final sparring match for the competition. The camera panned closer to her, and I noticed something peculiar. "Hey, does anyone else notice that Isabella Swan bears a striking resemblance to Master Caius?" I asked no one in particular.

"Yes," Felix shouted. "I noticed it a while ago, but thought I was just seeing things," he admitted.

"You know, she really does look like you, brother, just with dark hair and more feminine features," Aro agreed.

"Hmm… I wonder. Demetri, I want you to find my genealogy I had Chelsea complete for me a few years back. I put it down somewhere in my office and haven't even glanced at it yet," Master Caius ordered.

"I'll pause the Tivo while you go find it," Jane offered while grabbing the remote.

I sped out of the room anxious to get back and finish watching the competition. Master Caius's study was located in the east wing of the castle one floor down from his personal quarters. Once I opened the door, I shuddered at the mess that greeted me. Master Caius was not known to be very organized at all.

I got to work immediately looking through all the papers he had strewn everywhere. At least none of them were on the floor. After looking at all the loose sheets that were everywhere, I went to work on searching through his desk drawers. I finally found a folder in the bottom right-hand side drawer that had the words "Genealogy" printed on it in beautiful calligraphy.

I took a quick look inside and was pleased to find that it was what I was looking for. I snapped the folder shut and darted out of the room. I had already taken longer than I wanted to, but it couldn't be helped. Master Caius was not very patient so it was best to do as he orders immediately.

I made it back to the room swiftly and handed over the file to Master Caius. He took it and opened it up. Every one of us, including Master Aro, was leaning forward and watching him closely. There was a very real possibility that our favorite martial artist at the competition was a direct descendant of one of our masters.

Over the millennia, the Volturi guard has been charged with the protection of the human bloodlines of all three of our masters. Since they are each over three thousand years old, any descendants that still exist are to be protected from any and all threats. We had all thought that Master Caius's last descendant had passed away nearly fifty years ago. However, it seems that we may have made a mistake.

We all just sat there and waited while master Caius read. Finally, he closed the folder with a grin and placed it down on the side table. He sat back and stretched out his legs.

"Well, Caius, is she your descendant?" Aro asked after trying to look over Caius's shoulder to get a glimpse of what was printed on the paper.

Master Caius smirked at Aro's impatience. "She most certainly is," he said with a smile.

Aro clapped his hands in excitement. "That is wondrous news."

"It's not surprising when you think about it. Isabella Swan is a fighter. She also happens to be a weapons master. I have seen videos of her using various weapons, and I was impressed. It only stands to reason that Master Caius's descendant is a warrior like he was," I pointed out to everyone.

"Can you imagine her potential if she were to be changed? She would make an amazing guard member," Jane pointed out. We all nodded our heads in agreement. Isabella Swan has a lot of potential.

"Demetri, I want you to research my granddaughter. I want to know everything you can find out about her such as parents, schooling, talents, etc," Caius ordered. "Let's finish watching the competition, and you can start afterward."

Jane pressed play on the remote and we all watched very closely. While there were many talented martial artists competing, it was obvious that Isabella Swan had the superior technique. She was the best there.

It was now the weapons competition, and Master Caius kept making snide comments about how one competitor was holding their sword incorrectly, or their wrist wasn't straight when it should have been. He critiqued every one of them. None of us wished to challenge him, so we sat back and listened to Caius's commentary. If you wanted to continue to exist, you didn't challenge Caius Volturi.

Finally, the queen of the entire competition stepped up to the platform. Isabella Swan bowed in respect and got into her position. It was obvious from the start that Swan was one with her bo staff. It was an extension of herself.

Her choice of music was fantastic. Requiem For a Tower was the perfect fit to express how one feels as they enter into battle and the subsequent feelings of triumph when experiencing success. Her routine began slowly following along with the music. As the tempo increased, so did her speed. She performed various kicks, blocks, and strikes with accuracy. The speed at which she spun her bo was impressive even for a human. We all admired how deadly she could be if ever put into the position where she would have to fight for her life.

She just completed her signature scorpion kick which was as impressive as always when she lifted her right arm to spin the bo staff above her head. The sleeve of her dobok slipped down a little and we all saw a tell-tale scar on the inside of her wrist.

Caius roared throwing the side table across the room. Someone, some vampire, harmed his granddaughter. Someone was going to pay dearly for this.

"Find out who did this? I want their head brought to me on a silver platter so that they can watch me as I burn their dead carcass," Caius demanded angrily.

"Brother, calm yourself. We need to plan how we are going to handle this. It's clear that Isabella Swan knows of our kind. We need to find out who it was that broke our most sacred law and then we need to find her," Aro suggested trying to calm Caius down a bit.

"Of course, you are correct, brother. We need to do damage control, and I need to damage the bastard who is responsible," Caius agreed with a sneer. He was pissed and out for venom.

Our pleasant gathering quickly turned into a manhunt. The master gave us an assignment and expressed the importance of keeping Isabella Swan safe. We were broken up into teams of two and sent out immediately.

We all couldn't wait to get our hands on the fool that clearly stopped Bella Swan from transforming into a vampire. That act alone was also against the law. A transformation is the highest form of agony. However, removing the venom once it is in the bloodstream is a hundred times more painful. That is why the brothers passed that particular law. To torture someone in that manner was the greatest cruelty. Whoever the fool was, their time was now very limited. We would find them one way or another.
