Chapter 7

SG-1 led Edna Winchester through the gate to the rendezvous point. The paramedic was given plain battle dress and a basic vest with radio. She was supplied with a small first aid kit and a meal ready to eat as a standard practice.

Eddy emerged without any gate travel side effects. She mentioned. "That was kind of neat."

"Neat?" Jack asked as he looked upon her.

"Kind of." she shrugged.

Daniel mentioned. "Usually, it's described as a rush."

She disagreed. "No rush. Kind of like an amusement park ride."

Sam suggested. "Like an intense rollercoaster ride."

"Not really," she shook her head. "Kind of like a slip and slide."

"Slip and slide, Winchester?" Jack gave her a cocked eye.

She shrugged unsure how else to describe it. "Kind of." She looked about, "Where is Thor?"

"In orbit." Sam told her. "He will beam us up as soon as he locks onto us."

"How long will that…" Edna stared and then the group suddenly disappeared as Thor had beamed them up onto the ship.

The O'Neill

"Be?" Eddy finished her sentence. She was facing away from Thor.

Sam smiled and motioned for Eddy to turn.

Jack greeted. "Thor ole buddy!"

Eddy turned and her eyes landed on a small grayish being. She knew the Asgard were clones and was told they were dying but didn't expect to see such a drastically different looking being. "Um…" she froze wondering what to say. "Hi." she gave a wave.

Thor stood at the controls. He knew Edna was not entirely human the moment his ship locked into her. He spoke softly. "How are you, Edna?"

"Good!" she replied awkwardly. "You?" she winced with no idea what to say. She had so many questions but couldn't not recall any.

Jack asked. "You really are her father, Thor?"

"Yes." he confirmed. "Decades ago, the Asgard had a clandestine genetic program to attempt to create a hybrid that would be used to replace the cloning process. The program failed. The offspring produced were weak. Many did not survive the gestation period. Edna was the only specimen that did survive and the only specimen we spliced with genetic material from both the Nox and the Furling. Her mother carried the Ancient gene which I believe stabilized her enough to survive. When the program failed, it was halted and the specimens in gestation were destroyed. Edna is the only surviving specimen from the program."

Jack stated. "She's not a specimen, Thor. She's your kid."

"Indeed. She is a child of all the Asgard. But she can never return to the Asgard. She will only be seen as a failed specimen." he explained. "Thus, it was decided to leave her on Earth with her mother." Thor asked, "How is your mother?"

"She died years ago." she told him. "What about the visions of you being this great big six foot tall guy with a beard telling me to go find the Stargate?"

Thor blinked. "I have no idea what you are talking about."

"No implant was found." she stated. "I get these visions of a big guy with long hair and a beard, says he's you and tells me what to do."

Thor insisted. "That was not me. I have had no contact with you since we ended the program. I can scan you is you wish for any anomalies."

She looked to Sam for her thoughts.

Sam stated. "Are you aware that Eddy can heal by touching people."

Thor nodded. "That is a side effect of the genetic splicing."

"It drains her blood sugar levels." she told him.

"I am aware." he agreed.

"You just left her behind knowing all that?" Sam gasped.

Thor insisted. "She will never be accepted as an Asgard. The best place is with her mother's people. The fifth race."

"That's it?" Eddy sighed. "I'm just a genetic experiment and I was abandoned?"

"I'm afraid so." Thor confessed.

She grew upset. "You arrogant assholes! You knew I could do this shit, that it tanks my blood sugar, it put me in a coma and you just left me because I'm not Asgard enough for ya. Well! Fuck you!" she huffed angry.

Sam stood wide-eyed.

Daniel pleaded, "Calm down, Eddy."

Jack winced. "Yikes."

Teal'c lifted an eyebrow rather amused.

"Calm down!" she huffed angry. "Fuck no, I won't calm down. What kind of bullshit is this?"

Thor calmly stated. "You have every right to be angry. The project was a failure and was unethical on many levels. And for that, I am sorry."

"Sorry!" she miffed. "You abandoned me. I'm nothing than a genetic specimen to you. Do you even see me as even half human?"

"Of course. That is why I would not let you be destroyed. The council wanted all the specimens destroyed including you." Thor informed. "The project was a dark spot on our people."

Jack stated. "Hey Thor! Not only did she survive, she has saved countless lives. She used that ability to heal to help people."

He replied. "I am pleased to hear. She also has the potential for great destruction which is why the council voted to have her terminated. Officially, she was terminated. I told them all specimens were destroyed in an effort to protect the sole survivor." he confessed. "I ask you to keep her hidden safely with your people, Colonel. She will never been accepted by the Asgard and possibly sentenced to death." he pleaded.

Jack asked, "You want us to hide her?"

"Keep her safe." he clarified.

Eddy asked. "You mean the Asgard will kill me if they find out I'm still alive?"

"Indeed." he explained.

She huffed, "Fucking assholes."

Sam insisted. "Eddy could hold the key to saving the Asgard. She's a mix of all five races."

"I am aware of that." Thor agreed.

"But they would rather kill her?" she asked shocked.

"Yes." he told her. "Her potential for great harm outweighs the potential for helping reverse the cloning issue."

Eddy stated. "All I can do is shock people. Like zapping them."

Thor countered. "You have not unlocked all abilities then."

"I heal people when I touch them." she stated. "I can zap someone with electricity. That's it."

Thor stated. "You have the mind and capability for much more."

"Like what?" she asked annoyed. "Don't tell me I'm psychic! I can't even pick a winning lotto ticket."

Thor paused for a moment and cocked his head. "You are half human. You will make childish mistakes."

She narrowed her eyes. "Fuck you."

Jack quipped to Eddy "Will you be nice?"

"Her anger is understandable, Colonel. She is projected to have a much longer life span than humans. She is in her rebellious adolescent stage. She will eventually outgrow it and become more mature."

Eddy blinked. "What? What do you mean?"

"You are in essence a rebellious teenager." he explained. "Your life span is double a normal human's." he told her.

She asked. "Are you telling me that I am a dumb kid?"

"Indeed." he confirmed.

Her mouth dropped. "You are a master at this shit."

Jack requested. "Can you clean up the language?"

"Fine." she rolled her eyes.

Thor looked at Jack. "I have one personal request, Colonel."

"Shoot, Thor." he agreed.

"I ask you to help guide Edna through her life. Mentor her. Be a parental figure to her as I cannot be." he requested.

"Sure. I can look out for her." he agreed.

"I am grateful for your assistance, Colonel." he thanked Jack.

Jack assured him. "Anytime."
