Sophia's POV
Rebekah had a right fit with her necklace being gone and I knew why since she'd once told me that it was her mother's so I understood why she was upset it was gone since I had nothing of my mothers and often wished I had to remember her since I'd been close with my mother before she had died from consumption in 1858, I was 19 but it didn't make it any easier so I knew how Rebekah felt.
"Bekah, why don't we go shopping, you need to change?" I spoke up in hopes to cheer her up and she nodded since we used to have girls day out all the time where we'd get new dresses and actually get to be girls given we were both the only girls in our family surrounded by brothers which is another reason why Bekah and I were once close before Nik daggered her.
I showed her to an expensive clothes shop with Nik and Stefan begrudgingly following us and I quickly dived in showing Rebekah everything fashion in the 21st century had to offer picking her out a few options before sending her into the changing rooms before I sat down on the chairs provided next to Nik right as a girl working here refilled his champagne glass, he and Stefan drinking to pass the time making me roll my eyes but I stole Nik's glass and took a sip before handing it back to him while Rebekah began trying on the clothes I'd given her.
"There has to be more to this dress?" Rebekah called out and I sniggered a little.
"There's not" Nik replied before I could and she opened the curtain stepping out in a tight black dress and I smirked since she looked good in it even if it was a little short.
"So women in the 21st century dress like prostitutes then" Bekah complained and I couldn't help laugh a little but she was sort of right.
"Not all women, you just have to know what you're looking for" I argued since I never looked like a prostitute, at least I hoped I didn't and found myself looking down at the black singlet, jeans and heeled boots I was wearing.
"You know I got dirty looks for wearing trousers" Bekah went on complaining.
"You wore trousers so women today could wear nothing" Nik remarked and I turned hitting his arm making him recoil away laughing.
"And what is this music?" Rebekah went on, I smiled since it was entertaining to watch her discover everything that's changed since the 20's. "It sounds like a cable car accident"
"It's dance music" Stefan replied.
"People dance to this?" she asked surprised.
"Are we done?" Nik asked sounding impatient and I rolled my eyes at him.
"And why are you so grumpy?" Bekah asked him.
"I needed one thing from you for my witch to find out why my hybrids are dying, one thing, your necklace and you lost it" Nik replied and I sighed.
"I didn't lose it, it's just been missing for 90 years" she argued with him then turns to look at Stefan. "So what do you think?" she asks him.
"I like it" he replied and I rolled my eyes since men were clueless which is why I never shopped with Nik, I shook my head at Bekah who huffed seeing my look knowing Stefan was lying as the dress was good but not for her. "What, I said I like it?" Stefan added seeing her look.
"I can always tell when you're lying Stefan and Sophia shook her head which I trust her opinion more" she replied then goes back into the fitting room while Stefan turns to me as I smirked at him.
"Nice one, good work" Nik laughed.
"You're the one that pulled the dagger out of her" Stefan shot back and I turned to glare at them.
"I heard that" Bekah called from the change room.
"All right, I'm going to get some fresh air" Stefan suddenly says and gets up as Nik pours himself some champagne making me roll my eyes again.
"You men are hopeless" I spoke up and Nik looked at me offended by that statement as I stood and moved towards the racks again flipping through the rows of clothes finding a nice white top with a gold sequin overlay and some denim shorts and smiled since they'd be perfect for Bekah so I headed back to the change rooms. "Here Beks try this" I held them through the curtains and she took them before I felt her pull on my hand forcing me into the change room with her. "Bekah!" I exclaimed when she stood in front of me in just a bra and underwear and I covered my eyes as it was more revealing then the old undergarments we wore.
"Please your my sister-in-law and we've seen each other naked before"
"What?!" I heard Nik call out and I glared at Rebekah.
"Shut up!" I called back out at him before turning to Beks seeing her smirking. "Just try them on" I grabbed the clothes I'd brought her and pushed them into her hands.
"Only if you try this on, I want to see it on you first" she pushed a red dress with a black sash around the waist into my hands.
"You know there's a mirror right?" I pointed at the mirror.
"Just do it" she told me and I huffed rolling my eyes humoring her and stripped down changing into the dress while she changed into the outfit I'd given her and we stood side by side in the mirror. "I knew that dress would complement you, red suits you better than me"
"That's not true"
"You don't believe me, go ask Nik" she argued and before I knew it she pushed me out of the changing rooms as I stumbled a couple of steps before standing upright and locked eyes with Nik whose eyes were wide and staring me up and down.
"Rebekah's right luv, red is your color" he smirked.
"I gonna kill you Beks" I growled under my breath before I went over to Nik and stole his champagne glass.
"I'm buying you that dress" Nik said pulling me to sit on his lap. "So I can tear you out of it later" he whispered close into my ear and I found myself smiling leaning back into him.
"Gross!" Rebekah called from the changing room and I rolled my eyes but couldn't wipe the smile from my face.
We spent about another 15 minutes or so as Bekah and I picked out a whole new wardrobe for her and Nik graciously paid for it since I made him as a sorry for daggering her and he actually bought the red dress I had tried on and was wearing out of the store with Bekah wearing the white top and shorts I picked for her out and we dropped everything off at the warehouse before we went to Gloria's and broke the news of the necklace being missing but Gloria said she could probably find it and got busy with a locator spell.
"You left us" Rebekah spoke up and I looked up seeing Stefan walk in having disappeared and I gave him a suspicious look, I still didn't trust him half the time.
"Yeah sorry" he replied walking down the stairs towards us. "Retail therapy was making my head explode"
"Tell me about it" Nik sighed taking a drink out of his glass and I rolled my eyes since it wasn't that bad especially since he'd sat and drank the whole time.
"What is she doing?" Stefan asked looking over at Gloria who was doing the locator spell.
"She's failing" Nik snapped clearly frustrated with the lack of answers and progress.
"It's hard to find something when you don't have anything to go on" Gloria snapped back not taking his crap which is why I always liked her.
"So use me, I only wore it for 1000 years" Rebekah suggested jumping down from the bar.
"See now this one offers a solution, alright give me your hand sweetheart" Gloria stated as Rebekah went towards her sitting on the table and held her hand out for Gloria to channel her.
"She's uh…she's looking for the necklace, huh?" Stefan asked and I turned towards him, he sounded nervous which had me even more suspicious since he's been acting weird lately.
"I can sense something" Gloria spoke up after a few minutes of silence and we all moved closer as Gloria went back to chanting something still holding onto Rebekah's hand. "I found it" she finally stated and I saw Stefan's look making me narrow my eyes at him, he knew something.
"So where is it?" Rebekah asked anxious to get it back.
"It doesn't work like that, doll" Gloria argued. "I get images, there's a girl with her friends-"
"Yes a dead girl with dead friends if I don't get my necklace back" Rebekah cut her off impatient.
"Well I'll have to dive back in and get the details"
"So dive" Nik told her as he walked towards her.
"I need more time" she argued as Nik stopped behind her and lent down against the table right behind her. "And space, your harshing my juju" she waved him away.
"We can wait" Nik insisted.
"I'm sure you can but that's not what I asked" Gloria replied and I saw Nik glare, he was definitely impatient today.
"Hey, hey you know why don't we just come back later I'm hungry anyway" Stefan spoke up and placed his hand on Nik's shoulder. "I'll let you pick who we eat" I rolled my eyes but it worked as Rebekah and Nik shared a look before they followed Stefan out and I followed after them.
It wasn't long until Nik had four girls follow his beck and call by compulsion and we went back to the storage warehouse with them and while we enjoyed our meals with Rebekah killing hers quicker than they us but mine wasn't far behind as I was hungry and I let her drop to the ground before I turned to Nik.
"My girls dead, I'm bored" Rebekah spoke up.
"You weren't kidding about being hungry" Nik spoke up ignoring Rebekah as he looked over at Stefan.
"It's been a long day" he replied detaching from his victims neck having blood running down his face.
"Try being related to her" he replied nodding at Rebekah.
"Try being related to her" Stefan repeated Nik's words as he laughed nodding at me and I glared at him.
"You're being mean" Rebekah remarked towards Nik then turned to Stefan. "Why are you being mean, you used to love me?"
"It's been 90 years Rebekah give him a minute" Nik replied.
"Why are you taking his side?" she asked whining.
"Because my dear sister I feel pity for any man who doesn't give you what you want" Nik shot at him and I rolled my eyes since Nik was really in a mood today.
"Will you stop making me out to be a brat, I am not a brat!" Rebekah exclaimed glaring at him.
"A thousand years of live experience says otherwise" Nik sang looking back over at Stefan as he laughed.
"Well your no picnic either, I've only spent one summer with you and I feel like I want to blow my head off" Stefan replied and Nik stared at him betrayed as Rebekah and I laughed since I couldn't help it.
"Fantastic" Rebekah laughed harder.
"I need to go" Stefan said after putting his lifeless victim on the ground and stood walking out.
"Where's he going?" Rebekah asked sounding like a desperate clingy girlfriend.
"To write a name on a wall, it's a long story" Nik replied then looked over at where I was sitting and I stared back at him.
"Do you two have to stare like that in front of me, it's disturbing" Rebekah groaned and got up walking away to somewhere else in the warehouse and I laughed getting up walking over to Nik and he pushed the dead girl off his lap before pulling me into it so I sat across his lap and I saw a small trail of blood in the corner of his lip so I brushed it off and licked my finger, she tasted like alcohol which wasn't surprising considering he picked them up outside a bar.
"Do you trust Stefan?" he suddenly asked me and I turned to look at him.
"I've never trusted Stefan, why having second thoughts about bringing him along?"
"He's been moodier than usual" he replied and I scoffed with a small laugh.
"I did tell you not to bring him, he's barely been any help and frankly I think he knows something since he's been acting strange ever since Rebekah woke up and I know it can't be his memories since he's still hung up on the doppelganger" I argued running my hand through his hair massaging the scalp a little and he leaned into my hand making me smile a little as my mind was unable to stop thinking it was like petting a dog.
"You haven't mentioned this" he pointed out.
"Haven't really had alone time with you to mention it, you and Stefan have been quite content to bromance and tease Rebekah" I argued shaking my head at him. "You don't have to be so mean to her you know, I can't imagine it's easy to wake up in a completely different time period to find everything's changed from the world you'd known" I added and he frowned seemingly seeing it from that perspective.
"Fine I'll lay off, for you"
"Good boy" I laughed and pet his head before I went to stand only to get pulled back into his lap.
"Did you just degrade me like a common mongrel?" he asked and I bit my lip.
"No, of course not" I replied but couldn't stop myself from smiling and he glared at me with a low growl coming from his lips before I felt his hands on my sides and he started tickling me, I screamed and started trying to escape but of course Nik was stronger than me. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry Nik...stop!" I yelled kicking as I fought to keep myself from laughing. "I couldn't help it, dog jokes are hilarious in front of werewolves...okay, okay I'll never say it again just stop!" I yelled and he finally stopped smirking in satisfaction. "I hate you" I stated getting off his lap and he stood up beginning to laugh himself. "You know I hate being tickled"
"Oh I know" he smirked and I glared at him crossing my arms as I stared at the ground but he hooked his fingers under my chin and tried to lift my head so that I'd look at him. "Angel" he said and I frowned at him using his nickname for me knowing it was a weak spot for me and he finally lifted my eyes to meet his blue eyes and my anger dissipated instantly at his look.
"I still hate you" I mumbled but less convincingly this time and he smiled.
"No you don't"
"I should" I stated trying to keep strong even though he was making it extremely difficult and he smirked smugly knowing he had me done for already so I rolled my eyes. "Whatever, let's go hybrid" I pushed him back and started walking out of the warehouse since we ought to check up on Gloria and see if she's made any progress.
"We both know you can't stay mad at me, my love" god he was really groveling if he's used both of my nicknames and I smiled at the thought.
"I might not but we both know there are more fun ways that I torture you Niklaus" I smirked and his eyes widened knowing exactly what I was talking about which lifted my mood since I now had the upper hand.
"You wouldn't" he goaded me and I scoffed.
"We both know I will" I shot back before I started using my speed to get us to the bar faster and heard him behind me enticed with the chase which made it even more fun and I dodged and ducked as he tried to catch me only succeeding once we had made it to the bar but our eyes quickly widened and the fun was over when we saw the bar empty and Gloria was gone. "What the hell, she left?!" I yelled since why the hell would she do that and Nik's response was to throw a tantrum once again this time trashing the place trying to find anything but everything was gone, Gloria had split on us.
"We're leaving, if I have to torture every witch we know I will to get my answer!" he grabbed my hand and pulled me out of the bar leaving his mess behind as we went back to the warehouse to leave Chicago. "Gloria's gone she's cleared out, we need to find a new witch immediately" Nik states as we walked in but he stops and looks at Rebekah and Stefan standing facing each other. "What's going on?" he asked them since clearly something was.
"Something's wrong, he was asking about Mikael" Rebekah replied and I flinched at the mention of that very name shuttering and Nik's hand tensed around mine. "He's not with us Nik, I can sense it" she added and I glared at Stefan since I'd been right.
"She's wrong" Stefan tried to argued but it was pointless, his look already said it all and Nik rushed towards him and snapped his neck before he could even blink.
"I told you not to trust him" I spoke up and Nik turned to glare at me telling me now was not the time. "I have a theory" I ignored his look and they both turned to me. "My brothers not stupid but he's always had one weakness and it's the only time I've seen him willing to lie and it all comes down to one thing...love" I smirked.
Nik believed me so we packed up and I picked up Stefan's lifeless body carrying it into the truck with the coffins and just let him drop smirking as he landed on his head and I heard Nik laugh before we all piled into the car and he had a compelled human drive the truck behind us and once again I found myself back in my home town which I had hoped to never see again but I was determined to prove my theory.
We parked in the in the town center before Nik and I climbed into the back of the truck seeing Stefan was still out cold and I rolled my eyes since even though he spent the summer drinking human blood he was still weak as a broken neck shouldn't keep you down this long so I impatiently kicked his foot before I sat next to Nik on one of the coffins and Stefan finally woke before jerking upright looking around seeing where he was before his eyes settled on us.
"Just give me a chance to explain myself, ok?" he spoke up and I scoffed since little too late little bro.
"No need I'm not mad, I'm just curious, Sophia and Rebekah seem to think you're holding onto something a piece of your old life, the thing is they've got flawless instincts, borderline supernatural" Nik smiled at me as I smiled at him. "So I thought I would check it out, see for myself what it is you've been hiding" he adds going over to the door and rolls it up blinding us with light for a second before Stefan gets his first look at where we are
"Welcome back to Mystic Falls, little brother" I smirked moving towards Nik as Stefan walked to the edge staring out at the town.
