Sophia's POV

It's been a few days since Nik finally removed Mikael from our lives forever and since Stefan had stolen the coffins out from underneath our noses which I was still seething about but we were letting the Mystic Falls gang suffer by not immediately going after them from their own paranoia since they had tried to kill Nik and knew he wasn't going to resist revenge so we let them stew a bit in fear waiting for the day we retaliate and it was kind of fun considering Nik's hybrids kept us informed that they were in fact worried about our lack of retaliation so far but we'd had more important things to attend to.

Against my wishes now that Stefan had the coffins we weren't leaving Mystic Falls until we had them back which meant we were staying and so Nik had gotten the mansion for us and we were in the minx of refurbishing it and getting a few more things for ourselves which we had in many abodes all over the world collected up by hybrids and I smirked when I had my closet stocked with clothes on one side and even some on Nik's side of the master closet since he didn't need much room and he of course didn't mind given majority of my clothes he'd bought me.

"Your daydreaming my love" I snapped out of my thoughts and I smiled at him rolling onto my side as we laid in our bed ignoring the noise of the construction below us which the hybrids were in charge of for now.

"I'm just thinking of a few things" I remarked moving my fingers up his chest to his left shoulder where I began to trace the new tattoo on his arm/shoulder, a feather turning into birds...a symbol of freedom and I smiled at it since he'd gotten it just a couple of days ago and I loved it, made him even sexier.

"Like what?" he questioned moving his hand along my hip beneath the sheet that was covering our bare bodies.

"That if this place is going to be home until we get the coffins off my brother than we need to make it more open and let some damn sun in" I smirked as he rolled his eyes since he knew that was not what I'd been thinking about. "And that it's time to finally make our move so that can happen" I added pressing a kiss to his lips quickly before I got up.

"I thought we could just stay in bed all day?" he replied and when I sat down at the vanity desk I saw him still lying in bed with his arms behind his head smirking.

"We've barely left that bed in days Nik, it's time to make our move" I reminded him and he sighed finally getting up and he walked over to me leaning down eyes locked with mine in the mirror.

"What move would that be?" he asked before kissing my neck as I was trying to put eyeliner on and he was making that a tad hard.

"Confronting my twin" I sighed since although Damon was one of the last people I wanted to see if anyone knew where our petulant little brother was it would be him.

"You sure you want to face him"

"I can't put it off forever especially if were gonna stay in this town for a while" I argued and saw him frown in the mirror making me put down my eyeliner brush and turn towards him. "What?"

"Nothing love" he said heading towards the closet and I watched him go with a frown before I finished applying the rest of my make-up, I didn't wear a lot and kept it minimal since that's just what I liked to just wear enough to brighten up my face before I went into the closet seeing Nik pulling a grey v-neck over his head.

"We'll find Damon at The Grill most likely day drunk" I informed him since although I've barely seen my brothers since coming back I'd already picked up on their habits and Damon was definitely a moody alcoholic and given his latest loss I knew that's where he'd be.

"He's there, Tony has been following the doppelganger and she's there with him now" he nodded at me making me stop as I was pulling on some underwear as I frowned since that doppelganger bitch better not be pulling a Katherine right now because I wouldn't hesitate to snap her bloody neck, I was not letting history repeat itself.

I pulled on the rest of my clothes keeping it simple with a pair of black jeans, a black singlet with some studded boot heels before I grabbed a leather jacket from the rack and pulled it on turning to see Nik had done the same before we headed downstairs where he told his hybrids to continue working while we headed out driving to The Grill meeting up with Nik's hybrid Tony before we headed in and I impatiently felt the familiar feeling drawing me to my twin and easily spotted him at the dart boards with Elena and I glared at the sight of them looking mighty cozy.

"...your day drunk, I'm just saying it's not your most attractive look" I heard her say and my glare hardened even more.

"Oh, what is my most attractive look?" Damon asked her and I recognized his flirting look, it hasn't changed at all since we were teenagers and he used to flirt with all the girls in Mystic Falls before Katherine showed up.

"Uh-uh I'm not saying you have any attractive looks, I'm just ...saying this is my least favorite one" she replied breathlessly clearly affected by him and I clenched my fists.

"Noted, see if I can make any improvements" Damon replied as we headed over and I rolled my eyes since I wasn't blind, he had feelings for the doppelganger bitch but didn't he learn from the past at all.

"Don't mind us" Nik spoke up startling them and Elena spun around and I glared as Damon immediately put himself between us and Elena.

"Klaus?" Elena said looking scared which at least made me smile that he still scared her.

"Your gonna do this in The Grill, in front of everyone?" Damon asked and his eyes met mine which I just smiled at. "It's a little beneath you, don't you think?"

"Oh brother, you know nothings beneath me these days" I smirked at him. "But we don't know what you're talking about"

"We just came down to our local pub to grab a drink with a mate" Nik added before I heard Tony step up behind us. "Get a round then, would you Tony?" Nik asked him and Elena's eyes widened at the sight of him, no doubt she'd seen him following her.

"I'm surprised you stuck around town long enough for happy hour?" Damon asked and once again his eyes were on me clearly he was trying to find the sister he once knew but I smirked just to remind him that she was dead.

"My sister seems to be missing, need to sort that out" Nik told them since they obviously had something to do with it.

"Cute, blonde bombshell, psycho...shouldn't be too hard to find" Damon replied and I glared at him.

"Truth is, I've grown to rather like your little town thinking I might fancy a home here with my wife" Nik replied taking the darts out of Damon's hand while I watched amused as both Damon and Elena's eyes widen as Nik said wife since they didn't know that. "I imagine you're wondering how does this affect you and the answer is, not in the slightest as long as I get what I want and everyone behaves themselves, you can go on living your little lives however you choose, you have my word" he added turning to Elena as he gave his word.

"What more could you possibly want?" Elena asked looking at Nik.

"Well for starters, you can tell us where we might find Stefan" I spoke up before Nik had the chance and was looking at Damon.

"Stefan skipped town the second he saved his ass" he replied nodding his head at Nik.

"Well you see that is a shame" Nik spat annoyed and threw a dart at the board hitting a perfect bullseye. "Your brother stole from me I need him found so I can take back what's mine " Nik added.

"That sounds like a Klaus and Stefan problem" Elena spat bitterly and I glared stepping towards her but Damon moved in my way and my glare turned into a smirk as I chuckled a little at him before I turned back to Elena.

"Well this is us broadening the scope, doppelbitch" I spat at her ignoring Damon's glare at me. "Find us Stefan because you really don't want to see me when I'm angry Elena" I smirked before finally turning to Damon. "Good talk brother" I slapped his cheek as I passed and heard Nik laughing a little as he followed me towards the bar and I smirked when I saw Damon and Elena leave. "Looks like we rattled a few nerves" I spoke up drinking the burning amber liquid down dropping the glass back onto the bar. "So what's the next move?" I asked Nik as I motioned for a refill.

"Drink" he replied and I rolled my eyes but didn't need to be told twice as I threw back the drink as the bartender refilled my glass since which actually felt good since I hadn't fed in a few days so I was a little hungry and this was curbing the cravings for now.

"Time to check in" Nik spoke up after a little while and I looked up. "You coming luv?"

"I might stay here a bit longer" I replied and he turned to me. "I'll see you back at the mansion later" he stared at me for a second before he nodded and leant down to whisper in my ear.

"Alright, charge the costs to me"

"Was planning on it" I remarked with a small smile and he smiled rolling his eyes kissing the top of my head before leaving. "Tequila" I held up my hand signaling her down and she came over with a shot glass quickly pouring the liquid and I downed it. "Just keep 'em coming" I smiled at her since very rarely did I let myself have fun these past few months so I was gonna enjoy myself to distract myself from everything that was going on right now especially as it's still hard seeing Damon and dealing with my conflicting emotions over him.

Third Person's POV

Damon is pouring himself a glass of scotch in the library of the Salvatore boarding house when he he senses something and turns seeing Klaus standing on the upper level and Damon frowns at the sight of him, his emotions troubled especially with what he'd revealed in The Grill about him and Sophia.

"I think it's about time we had a drink, don't you?" Klaus smirked as if he could read Damon's mind.

"I'd say we're overdue" Damon replied offering a smile.

"Well, you've been so busy, what with all your plotting and scheming"

"You know me...never miss a chance to plan an epic failure" Damon scoffed taking a drink from his glass.

"Don't be so hard on yourself, who could have guessed your own brother would betray you?" Klaus argued walking down the steps towards his wife's twin.

"Well, I did have a front row seat when your sister lied to you" Damon reminded him.

"Yeah, well she's fickle that one and you say you have no idea of her whereabouts?" Klaus asked him with a small glare .

"That's the thing with younger siblings, you just...never know what they're going to do" Damon smiles and drinks. "Like marry an utter and complete psychopath" he added with a glare. "Drink?" he asked holding up his empty glass turning to the decanters of liquor while Klaus glares at as soon as his backs turned as he poured them both a drink before turning and handed Klaus one of the glasses.

"Cheers mate" Klaus smirked at him.

"Down the hatch" Damon added before they both drank with Damon finishing his completely while Klaus only took a sip.

"You know, we've actually got a lot in common you and I" Klaus spoke up.

"Really?" Damon asked as Klaus moved walking over towards the couches. "Well, yeah. maybe we can...bond over our mutual loathing of my brother" Damon replied pouring himself another drink. "Why are you so mad at him, he stole something?"

"My family, the originals, I had them daggered, boxed up, awaiting the day when I saw fit to wake them and he went in and pinched the bloody lot"

"Of course he did" Damon laughed walking over to the window staring out. "Ah, such a buzz kill, my baby bro" he turned and walked towards where Klaus was. "Well, I'd love to find him just the trouble is I sure as hell don't work for you"

"You know, your drink stinks of vervain, so I can't compel you." Klaus turned to him with a knowing smile. "There'd be no point in killing you because you're actually the one with the most hope of getting me what I need, not to mention I promised Sophia she got that privilege and yet, it would seem a demonstration is in order, perhaps I wasn't clear enough when I told you to find Stefan, oh well it seems you people respond best to displays of violence why don't you take this as an example of my reach?" Klaus added as he takes his phone and calls someone. "There he is, so that thing I told you to do why don't you go ahead and get on with" it?"

Sophia's POV

I walked into the house finally coming home from The Grill, I hadn't had nearly enough to drink but I wasn't my twin and didn't drink myself stupid especially when I needed to remain sober enough to help Nik find my idiotic little brother so we could get his family back.

"Compel the men to open up this wall, we need sun I want a fortress not a bloody dungeon" I heard Nik say so I went in that direction smiling at his words since he'd listened to me this morning. "There he is the man of the hour"

"So everything went okay?" I heard Nik's first hybrid ask, Tyler.

"Well Tony ran down Alaric instead of Jeremy but apples, oranges message lands the same" Nik replied right as I walked into the room.

"You said you were sending them a warning" Tyler protested.

"And I did, an effective one" Nik nodded as I walked towards him, that wasn't exactly the plan but it was definitely a motivational one. "Elena's family suffers, she's motivated to get me what I want"

"I didn't think that we'd actually have to kill anyone" Tyler argued and I scoffed, who the hell did he think he was talking to.

"Tyler mate..." Nik sighed. "What your feeling is the remnant of a guilty conscious, I need you to get over it okay?" he grabbed Tyler's shoulder and turned him. "End of the day, human life here is just a means to an end, our means to our end, you'd do well to remember that" he told him before he looked at me and we started walking away leaving Tyler to think about those lessons.

"I heard you took my advice with opening the place up" I smirked letting him know I'd overheard that.

"Thought I'd do something to please my wife especially knowing how much you hate this place" he replied and I smiled a little at him.

"You do plenty to please me, how was the chat with my twin?" I shot back and he looked almost surprised that I knew. "The fact that you didn't really protest to leave me in the bar gave away where you were going" I added and he smiled a little.

"Well we had a lovely chat about family-"

"He didn't give up Stefan, did he?" I asked cutting him off to get to the point.

"No but he seemed pretty adamant to hold a grudge over the fact that I stole and married his 'little sister'" he quoted using hand signals as he said little sister and I scoffed rolling my eyes.

"Yeah well you threw the bombshell at him" I remarked and he pulled me to a stop turning me to face him before he pulled the chain out from under my shirt and I looked down at my wedding ring and the vial of blood I was still wearing since you never could trust especially when I was literally surrounded by hybrids.

"We don't have to hide anymore" he pointed out and I felt him pull on the chain that held my ring snapping it then slid my ring off the broken chain before smiling at me. "It's time you start wearing this again, so everyone knows that you are mine" he grabbed my left hand and held it up and I smiled when I saw the engraving on the inside of the band. 'Always & Forever'

"It still feels so surreal that we don't have to run anymore, we don't have to look over our shoulders and we can finally just be us, it's...peaceful" I smiled as I played with my ring a little since that to felt so weird to be wearing it on my finger again after nearly 80 years of wearing it around my neck.

"We are free" Nik smirked and I smiled looking up at him as I moved my arms around his shoulders and his wrapped around my waist lifting me up so that we were eye level and I pressed my lips to his but before we could go too far his phone rang and he groaned at the interruption answering it and we were shocked when it was the doppelganger asking us to meet her at the Salvatore Boarding House which made me frown but we went.

I looked up at the place as we approached it since I've never really bothered to even come here except for my brief capture and I didn't exactly stick around to see the legacy that became of my families name and wealth but I pushed those thoughts aside as Nik knocked on the front door and it wasn't long before Elena was opening the door.

"Thank you for coming" she said and I waited for my twin to come out but I couldn't sense him which meant that she was meeting us alone.

"I trust you have news of Stefan" Nik said as we walked inside.

"I couldn't find him but I have something else" she replied and started walking somewhere so we follow her down to the basement and enter the cell with her that I'd been held in but what we saw was Rebekah dead with a dagger in her heart from behind and I glared at Elena knowing she would have had to do this, backstabbing little bitch.

"My poor sister, I can't turn my back on her for a moment" Nik said as he approached her.

"You have Rebekah, a deal is a deal" Elena spat and I clenched my fist that she thought she could talk to us this way, she had some guts I'll give her that.

"The life of my sister in exchange for your brother, yeah I'd say that's a bargain, consider him spared" Nik nodded agreeing with her and although I didn't like the fact that she thought this made us even at least we had Rebekah back.

"You should know, I was the one that daggered her when she wakes she'll come after me" Elena spoke up and I scoffed since I hoped Rebekah did as she bloody deserved it.

"I can control Rebekah" Nik insisted kneeling down beside her. "Besides I still need your help finding Stefan" he added looking back up at Elena.

"I told you, I don't know where he is" she argued but I could tell she was lying and watched as Nik removes the dagger from Rebekah out of the corner of my eye.

"You're lying" I spat at her and she turned to me. "Fortunately, you have no shortage of loved ones" I smirked since we just spared Jeremy, that doesn't mean everyone else is safe.

"If I don't find my family, the question you should be asking yourself is who's going to die next, Bonnie, Caroline...Damon?" Nik added and I saw Elena's eyes look up at me but I remained impassive. "It's only a matter of time before Stefan gives me what I want"

"He doesn't care about me anymore, you made sure of that you turned him into a monster, now he's your problem" she spat back and I raised my eyes since she seriously knew nothing, it doesn't matter if a vampire has their humanity off, humanity always has a way of slipping back in and I knew Stefan wouldn't have done this if he didn't feel something, he was running on rage right now and that was emotion. "And just so you know, I'm not the only one Rebekah wants dead she knows what you did to your mother, she knows that you killed her" she scoffed in his face before heading for the door but stopped and turned back. "You can let yourselves out" she added before leaving and I turned towards Nik confusion written all over my face as he looked scared.

"What's she talking about?" I asked him since I've never heard any of them speak about their mother before. "Nik?" I called and he finally looked up at me but he just frowned before grabbing Rebekah and left the cellar making me frown since what the hell was all this about and why was he afraid of what Elena had said.

I quickly followed him seeing him put Rebekah into the back seat before he opened the passenger door and gave me a look telling me to get in and although I wanted to protest and ask him what the hell was going on I knew it wasn't the place so I wordlessly went over and got in before he closed the door and moved around the car getting in and started driving back to the mansion while I fought with my own curiosity.

"Nik talk to me" I tried and reached for his hand but he moved it making my frown deepen for the fact that he was pushing me away. "Please don't do this Nik, don't shut me out" I protested and he turned to me. "Talk to me"

"I can't" he replied and I sighed lowering my head.

"I've never heard anything about your mother, none of you have ever mentioned her to me" I went on even though he wouldn't. "Who was she?" I asked and watched his frown increase.

"The Original Witch" he finally spoke after a few seconds and my eyes widened in shock.

"Your mother put the curse on you?!" I asked and he nodded his head. "How come you never told me"

"I don't want to talk about this" he snapped and I frowned but decided to drop it for now especially when we arrived home and he was out of the car before I knew it taking Rebekah's body inside and I let out a heavy sigh as I got out and followed him inside noticing everyone was gone, no builders and no hybrids.

"Here we are Rebekah, home sweet home" I heard Nik as I walked in and saw Rebekah laying on a table, she hasn't woken up yet. "Only took 1,000 years and to think, I was counting on you being here with me but that's all ruined now, isn't it?" I moved closer when I noticed her fingers move. "I'm so sorry,,," he runs the back of his fingers over her face. "...sister" I frowned knowing what he was going to do, he was re-daggering her. "We'll meet again one day" I turn the moment he puts the dagger in her heart again and went upstairs I wasn't gonna keep pushing him.

I showered and changed into a pair of sweats and one of Nik's shirts before heading over to our bed sighing deeply before I opened my side table draw and pulled out an old worn brown leather covered journal, I used to write in it all the time but the last few decades I haven't really felt like the write down your feelings kind of person but today was making me feel a little reflective so I flipped through it finding the entry I was looking for.

October 9th, 1910

I can't believe the days have passed so quickly, was it really only a month ago that Niklaus had proposed to me in the courtyard of the The Abattoir, our homes in which they had built up from nothing and where I had made my own home now that I'm with Niklaus.
Rebekah has pretty much forbidden us from spending the night but of course Nik and I are never one to follow the rules and he's currently passed out beside me in bed looking oh so adorable and soon we'll never have to ever be apart from each other again.
In all the happiness though there is a hint of sadness that my brothers are not alive to see me get married or Damon isn't able to walk me down the aisle like I'd always imagined if I got the chance to marry for love and not for status or my father's wishes which thankfully I am since I love Niklaus more than anything in this world, I just wish that they were here to see it.
On a positive note Kol has asked for the privilege of giving me away and after much protest from Nik I finally got him to agree since Kol was my best friend and I wouldn't want anyone else to give me away in Damon's absence.
Anyway I guess that's all I can write since it's already late and Rebekah will be barging in before dawn which will no doubt end in yelling and things being thrown once she discovers Nik and I had spent the night together which was gonna be entertaining...my next entry I'll be a married woman to the man I love most in this world and I cannot wait to start married life together with Nik.

I ran my fingers over my own words smiling softly to myself, I'd been so happy but sad at the same time because I'd thought my brothers were dead but they'd been alive and Damon hadn't been the one to give me away, not that I regretted honoring Kol with that privilege especially since he'd been on his best behavior surprisingly with very minimal comments about me choosing the wrong brother which was really just to get a rise out of Nik which never ceased to make us laugh when Nik ended up chasing Kol around the house.

Although I thought I'd known the man I was marrying, I thought Nik and I had no secrets and that he had told me everything about his past since he promised me that there'd never be any secrets between us and what's worse is that none of the others told me that the original witch had been they're mother, why did I know everything else but that.

"Luv?" I looked up instantly closing my journal and held it in my lap as I avoided looking at him as he walked in. "I haven't seen you write in years" he pointed out.

"I wasn't writing, just looking back" I argued putting the journal back into the drawer closing it before I grew the courage to look at him.

"What entries were you reading?" he questioned sitting on the edge of the bed next to me.

"The night before we got married" I replied playing with my ring with my hands in my lap. "The night you ignored Rebekah and had to climb in through my window to spend the night even though she told us we had to be apart and was pretty much guarding my door from you"

"I remember that, she threw a boot at my head to wake us up" he smiled and I smiled too at the memory of Nik's yell of protest to be rudely woken up by the flying boot and Rebekah's screaming.

"She did warn us" I reminded him before the smile fell from my face and I looked up at him and he immediately noticed the change. "Why didn't you tell me about your mother?"

"I never wanted you to find out"

"Nik it wouldn't have changed anything for me" I told him and he looked up eyes wide like he couldn't believe I just said that. "But you should have told me, the day we got married you promised me no secrets but lately I just keep finding out about things that you've lied to me about"

"Soph-" I head up my hand to stop him.

"You know I'm big on promises Nik"

"I know love" he sighed before he moved and laid down on his side of the bed pulling me down with him. "You know that Mikael's not my father"

"Obviously" I stated nodding my head furrowing my brows in confusion on where he was taking this.

"My mother had an affair with a werewolf and that's how I was born" I nodded since that was already obvious by his hybrid nature. "When I made my first kill as a vampire and triggered the werewolf curse, Mikael discovered that I wasn't his and he made her place the curse on me, afterwards I got angry and in a rage I killed her, I ripped out her heart before I realized what I doing and I...told my siblings that it was Mikael who killed her"

"So that's why you daggered Rebekah again, because she found out?" I asked and he nodded. "Does anyone else know?" I asked but he shook his head.

"That's why I couldn't tell you love...I couldn't trust that one day they'd-"

"Find out and compel the answer from me" I finished for him and he sighed bringing his hand to my cheek.

"It was never about wanting to keep secrets from you Sophia, I've never wanted to keep secrets from you because I did promise that we had no secrets but that was wrong and I'm sorry" he replied and I smirked.

"I forgive you Nik" I leaned into kiss him but stopped just as our lips were about to touch. "So long as there's definitely no more secrets between us?"

"No more secrets" he smirked so I smiled and leaned down kissing him as he rolled us so I was straddling his waist. "I don't know what I did to deserve you Sophia"

"You saved me" I smiled at him moving my hands to his shirt and pulled it over his head. "You cared for me" I kissed his left cheek. "You gave me life" I kissed his other cheek. "You gave me a love that consumes me and that's all I've ever wanted in life, you gave me everything I ever dreamed of Nik and I fell in love with your inner kindness, your passion, your heart and I'll never not be in love with you, you changed me into who I was meant to be and that's why we deserve each other" he sat up wrapping his arms around my waist.

"I love you"

"I love you" I breathed as he started kissing my neck before I pushed him back and pulled the shirt over my head watching his eyes drop to my chest and smirked before I lent down and grabbed his face. "You are mine and I am yours, Always and Forever" I smiled at him as his eyes flashed with memories since those were our wedding vows.

"From this day forward, no secrets, no lies and I promise to always be yours" he added saying the rest of what we had promised to each other 100 years ago before our lips met and the rest of our clothes came off and we made love.
