Sophia's POV

This was all tuff to swallow seeing my husbands dead mother who I'd never met since she's supposed to have died 1000 years ago and I felt like the odd one out amongst them as they were all staying here and next to the original family, who was I but Nik's side piece which made me feel incredibly awkward and despaired since this was not the reunion I had been hoping for.

I poked my head out of Nik and I's room checking that the hallways were clear since I've been trying to avoid my in-laws especially Esther before I made my way out when I saw no one in sight and headed down towards the kitchen since I needed a blood bag given I was feeling a little famished and just as I had opened the fridge and grabbed one out I spun when I felt a presence and nearly had a heart attack.

"Kol!" I laughed when he pulled me to him and spun me around. "What are you doing?"

"You ran off last night, we never got to have a proper hello" he replied and I laughed again hugging him tighter before he put me down. "So be honest, how much did you miss me?" he asked leaning on the counter as I grabbed two glasses.

"Of course I missed you Kol, you're my vampire in crime and mischief" I smirked pouring the blood into two glasses and slid him one. "I don't think there was a moment of peace for Nik where I didn't pester him about un-daggering you, you are after all my favorite brother-in-law"

"You could always leave Nik and run away with me" he joked and I hit his shoulder.

"I'm impressed you waited this long to throw that out there" I laughed rolling my eyes.

"Well I am the better looking brother" he smirked.

"I won't encourage that" I laughed and he soon joined in.

"We both know you love me Sophie" he smiled and I rolled my eyes since he was the only one that called me Sophie and got away with it.

"As a brother Kol, you know I like blue eyes" I winked at him before I picked up my glass and walked out of the kitchen.

"Save me a dance at the ball, would you darling?" he called out after me.

"Maybe" I shrugged without turning back to look at him but had a smile on my face as I headed back upstairs seeing the black ball gown laying on Nik and I's bed for the ball tonight, Nik had gotten it for me and while I loved it I wasn't particularly looking forward to this ball and had no idea why Esther thought it would be a fantastic idea to throw a ball introducing the complete original family to Mystic Falls once again, I mean the woman is back to life in 1000 years and the first thing she does is throw a party, it made me even more suspicious of her meaning I didn't want to go but Nik was kind of being forced to and had already asked me to accompany him as his date so of course I couldn't not go.

I had a quick shower to get ready for the day putting on a simple pair of black jeans with a grey sweater which hung off my shoulders leaving them bare and showing off the bird tattoo I had gotten as my own symbol of freedom to sort of match Nik's before putting on a pair of high heeled boots and applied my usual amount of make-up before I got the courage to leave the room heading downstairs hearing music playing so I headed towards it seeing all the siblings being fitted in tuxes for the ball and Rebekah was getting her nails painted.

"Sophia, join us" Elijah smiled as I entered but I hesitated since seeing them all together still made me feel like the outsider given I wasn't an original.

"Yes, join us" Kol added not letting me argue or escape as he came over and grabbed my shoulders leading me to the couch and pushed me down next to Rebekah then snapped his fingers at another compelled woman who immediately rushed over. "Fix those nails, would you sweetheart" he told her before he went back to the mirror and I frowned looking at my nails, granted I did need a good manicure but that was harsh but I let her give me one anyway.

"Just a clear coat with French tips" I told the woman who nodded and got to work while I looked around still feeling a little awkward sitting here surrounded by the siblings, even more so given Nik was nowhere to be seen.

"Rebekah, tell me how handsome I am?" Kol suddenly spoke up.

"Oh Kol, you know I can't be compelled" she replied and I sniggered as did the others.

"Sophia?" Kol turned his head to me clearly wanting me to object.

"I'm a happily married woman Kol, it'd be rude of me to give compliments to another man" I replied smiling at him but it immediately fell when a door slammed open and Nik barged in.

"You went after Elena?" he snapped looking straight at Rebekah and I rolled my eyes since what did he expect, the bitch literally drove a dagger through Rebekah's back, she deserved everything she got. "What is wrong with you?"

"Here we go" Rebekah smiled having known this was inevitable.

"Do you want another dagger in your heart?" Nik threatened.

"Again with the dagger threats?" Kol cut in. "Don't you have any other tricks?"

"Oh go back to staring at yourself" Nik snapped back at him.

"And who are you, my father?" I rolled my eyes at Kol since he just never knew when to shut up.

"No Kol but you are in my house"

"Then perhaps we should go outside" Kol argued standing upright to square off with Nik.

"Enough" Esther interrupted walking into the room and I immediately lowered my eyes as if to make myself invisible, the woman just gave me the wrong vibes and I didn't want to have any interaction with her no matter if she was Nik's mother or not. "Niklaus…come" she ordered and Nik followed after her as Kol smirked deviously.

"Rebekah wasn't out of her box a day before she tried to ruin my life" I heard Nik complain from the other room. "What happened to peace, acceptance…family?"

"You put daggers in their hearts" Esther replied and I sighed knowing it was wrong to eavesdrop but what can I say, I'm protective over my husband and didn't trust his mother. "…you need to give it time Niklaus, I've had a thousand years on the other side to be angry and to heal" I frowned since that still didn't sit right with me.

"I just don't understand, I killed you and still you forgive me" I heard Nik reply and my heart broke knowing how hard it was for him to accept that he was capable of being forgiven, even by me.

"It's been my dream for a thousand years that this family could be as one, forgiveness is not a chore it's a gift" I heard Esther say once I listened in again. "Now are you escorting Sophia to the ball?" I heard her ask him.

"You're lucky we're even going" Nik replied after a small chuckle and my frown deepened since I could tell this is what he wanted, his family but I couldn't help what I felt and that was that we shouldn't be trusting Esther.

"I look forward to meeting her properly" Esther replied and I froze a little with a frown before I turned stopping myself from listening in any further and as soon as my nails were done I excused myself getting up and went back upstairs where I began pacing since I couldn't stop feeling like something bad was about to happen and everything in me wanted to tell Nik but if I was wrong then...he could see me as if I was trying to tear apart his family and I couldn't do that to him.

"There you are" I stopped mid-step turning to see Nik walk in with a smile and I immediately knew that I would just keep my mouth shut, I was probably just adjusting to having his family around all at once and that was all this feeling was so I was gonna push it out of my mind. "What's wrong?" he asked and I cursed how well he was able to read my moods.

"Nothing" I replied forcing a smile as I moved towards him and wrapped my arms around his shoulders. "Just a little nervous about this ball" I admitted since I was for more than a few reasons, one being I was never really that great a dancer and we were supposed to do this fancy old style waltz which I really had cared less learning about in my human years being taught etiquette. "We both know I'm not a great dancer and this waltz were supposed to do makes me nervous that I'll be the most uncoordinated vampire in history and fall flat on my face"

"You've danced with me before" he argued and I sighed.

"Yeah simple a simple waltz or 1920's swinger but nothing like what I have to do at this thing tonight" I argued shaking my head. "In my human years, whenever I had to dance Damon used to pick me up and put me on his feet so that it looked like I was dancing and George never cared enough at parties to dance with me so it's never really been an issue until now" I argued knowing I was ranting as he chuckled letting go of me and I thought he was walking off but he pulled out his phone swiping the screen before suddenly there was a soft ballad playing and he put it down on my vanity.

"Come here" he walked back towards me and pulled me close so we were side by side. "Just focus on me and follow the steps" I frowned since I did not want to make a fool of myself but he held me so I couldn't escape and I found myself being pulled around the room with him leading us and although he had to keep lifting my eyes off my feet I wasn't doing as bad as I thought I would be. "You're a natural my love" he smiled and I couldn't help smile back.

"Shockingly" I laughed as he spun us before taking my hands and we danced in a more traditional waltz style before he spun me out again where I was supposed to swap partners but being we were alone thank god he pulled me back and we kept going and I was barely looking at my feet anymore.

"So you want to tell me what your really worried about?" he suddenly asked never stopping as we danced around our room.

"Nothing important right this second" I protested before leaning up and kissed the corner of his mouth before I stepped back and curtsied making him laugh as he bowed.

"You'll be fine tonight" he kissed my forehead. "Rebekah was looking for you"

"She was?" I asked since so far she's been ignoring me.

"Yeah, needs your help delivering more invites for mother"

"Alright, I guess I can help since it'll give me a reason to talk to her about why she's been giving me the cold shoulder" he nodded his head so I kissed him quickly one last time before I went downstairs seeing Rebekah near the front door.

"Finally" she snapped and I frowned.

"Sorry I was just...never mind" I shrugged seeing the invites in her hand. "Shall we?" I nodded to them and she turned without a word and started walking out so I followed her and I grabbed Nik's car keys on the way out driving to all the places she told me to, the mayors, a few other founding families before finally The Grill and I followed her in. "Bekah why are you mad at me?" I finally spoke up.

"I'm not mad at you" she huffed.

"Really, giving me the cold shoulder and ignoring me is not mad?" I asked her.

"Did you know what Nik had done to our mother?" she suddenly stopped and turned so she was in my way and my eyes widened since was that what this was about.

"Not until Elena returned your body to him, she mentioned that you had found out what Nik had done and I was confused since I didn't even know the original witch was your mother until then, he kept it from me so that you guys didn't find out by compelling it out of me and trust me I was plenty pissed at him about it as well" I explained and watched as she studied me looking to tell if I was telling the truth.

"Not well enough given your still with him" she snapped but I could tell by her eyes that she'd forgiven me already so I chuckled.

"Wasn't it you who once told me that we couldn't help who we fell in love with" I shot back at her and she huffed but I saw the small smile on her face. "Come on Beks, it's you and I against all the boys remember?"

"You have the memory of an elephant" she bit back clearly surprised that I remembered what she used to say when we first met.

"Are you calling me fat Bekah?" I asked mocking hurt placing my hand over my chest before we both laughed and headed into The Grill but our mood instantly dropped when I saw Elena talking to Caroline.

"I can't deal with either of the Salvatore's right now, whatever Stefan's feeling he's channeling it all against Klaus and Damon...it's just not a good idea" I heard Elena say and I glared harder at her wishing I had the ability to make her spontaneously combust.

"Why cause you two made out?" Caroline spoke up and my eyes narrowed even more. "Bonnie spilled the beans"

"I was gonna tell you, it's just after everything happened with your dad..." yes we had heard the news of the founding family members death.

"Elena when you and Matt kissed for the first time freshman year, you called me the second it happened, I don't hear about this till now from somebody else?" I scoffed since I never was one for teenage drama, barely had it in my days.

"I'm sorry, it's just I...I don't even know how I feel about it yet, all I do know is that...it just used to be so much easier" Elena argued and I'd had enough and headed over with Bekah.

"Careful Caroline it's all well and good till she stabs you in the back" Bekah spoke up drawing their attention to us.

"Come on Rebekah, we both know stabbing people in the back comes natural to little tramps" I smirked watching Elena attempt to glare at me which I just smirked at since she was about as intimidating as a kitten.

"What are you doing here?" she demanded looking at us. "I know your mom's rules, no hurting the locals" she added and my glare returned.

"Get over yourself, Elena it's not all about you for once in your life" I spat bitterly at her before I leant down. "What my brothers see in you goes beyond me but keep pining them against each other and I'll make sure to show you your own heart as I rip it from your chest and feed it to you" I spat at her before Bekah and I walked off so that she could give her invitation to Matt inviting him as her date while we smirked at the reaction it got from both Elena and Caroline.

"Oh my god, she's inviting him to the ball, why is she inviting him?" I heard Caroline ask making me smirk.

"Probably to get this reaction from us" Elena replied and once again I rolled my eyes since she really thought everything revolved around her, when I knew Rebekah was actually inviting Matt because she liked him.

"What time is this stupid dance?" Caroline asked making me smile since that meant she got my gift since I had invited her, I was determined to show her what life out of this town could be for a vampire since Nik and I had fun in the 1900's compelling ourselves into parties and enjoying the lavish life of pretending we were royals and Caroline deserved more than to follow Elena around and be collateral damage again for the doppelgangers sake.

When Rebekah and I returned to the mansion we went our separate ways to get ready and I stood in nothing but a set of black lace undergarments staring down at my dress on the bed as I had already done my make-up with a black smokey eye and red lips and my hair was pulled up into and intricate bun with braids holding it in place.

"I hope that's not all your wearing to the ball love" I smirked not turning as he entered the room.

"Yeah you know I was just thinking about it, definitely an eye draw don't you think" I laughed knowing full well where his eyes were resting, on my ass as these were more lingerie than they were undergarments.

"I don't think so" he argues and I feel him against my back as his hands wrap around me from behind laying across my stomach as he pulls me back into him. "This is a sight only I get to see" he whispered leaning close to my ear and I smiled leaning my head back especially when his hand dipped lower.

"Nik..." I breathed my eyes involuntary closing as I took a deep breath to calm my racing heartbeat down. "I have to finish getting dressed"

"Later" he remarked and before I knew it he had me across the room and pressed against a wall. "You expect me to walk away when I enter our room and see you looking this...amazing" his lips were an inch away from my neck and I pressed myself back against the wall standing at full height to try and compose myself but his presence and scent was intoxicating.

"Nik...please" I stuttered out breathlessly as he cupped one side of my face tilting my head to give him more access before his lips were on my neck and I let out a deep sigh his lips sent an instant shock wave to my nether regions. "Nik...god...kiss" I was an incoherent mess and felt his smirk against my skin before he pulled back but was right back pressing his lips against mine and I moved my arms around his shoulders into his hair. "Five minutes" I told him and that was all he needed to hear since he had ripped my underwear down my legs before lifting me up against the wall with my legs moving around his waist.

I shook my head at Nik as we were both in a bit of a rush now to get dressed since we were late, all because I'm not able to resist to his charms and I had to fix my hair and make-up which is what I was doing already in the sleek black ballgown in which he'd gotten me to wear tonight.

"Ready, my Angel?" he asked as I finally finished fixing my make-up and I smiled at the nickname as I stood nodding my head looking him up and down in his black tux and god did I just want to skip this entire dance and stay up here in bed with him but I knew we couldn't so I plastered a smile on my face. "Well almost" he suddenly said and reached into his pocket pulling out a jeweler box and opened it, my eyes widened at the sight of the gorgeous necklace resting inside, it was a pear shaped black diamond.

"Nik" I choked up a little since it was absolutely beautiful and would be wasted on me. "I can't wear that, it's gorgeous"

"Nonsense, it was made for a queen and tonight you look like one so it's only fitting" he pulled it out of the box and turned me around to face the mirror as he placed it around my neck clipping it together and my hand touched the huge center diamond before I turned to him.

"You spoil me Niklaus" I smiled at him.

"You deserve to me spoilt" he replied before holding his arm out for me and I smiled taking his arm as we left our room and headed downstairs smiling and exchanging pleasantries even though I barely recognized any of the people here. "Drink?" Nik asked reaching for a passing waiters tray and grabbed two flutes of champagne and I smiled taking it. "You okay?" he asked as I continued to look around.

"Yeah, just getting used to all this again"

"Yes it has been quite a while since we've attended a party this lavish" he smiled with a small chuckle.

"Do you remember when we crashed the royal ball in England?" I asked unable to stop myself from that memory.

"1868, if I remember and you got quite blistered with drink and danced on the throne" he laughed as I blushed since it wasn't my finest accomplishment but it had been so much fun especially when we compelled everyone to laugh and ignore our antics even the queens guards. "The first of many times where I began to fall for your charm, your grace and you humility since you fell flat on your face"

"I wasn't the most coordinated vampire in the beginning, I'll admit it" I laughed before smiling at him just for the way he was looking at me.

"It's apart of the reason I fell head over heels in love with you" he admitted and I smiled shyly.

We continued to move through the rooms continuing our part as welcoming house owners since this was Nik and I's place before I finally spotted Kol amongst the crowd and he was heading for the mayor who was next to my twin and I frowned since Kol had to know by now that they'd been filled in on the drama which meant I wouldn't put it past my best friend to get protective so I excused myself from Nik's side for the first time tonight and walked over to him.

"Mayor Lockwood, we haven't formally met" Kol interrupted their conversation and grabbed the mayors hand brining it his lips making me smile since he could be a gentleman when he wanted to. "Kol Mikaelson" he kissed the back of her hand. "I hope your lovely town embraces us just as much as we plan to embrace it"

"Damon Salvatore" I saw Damon interrupt and hold out his hand to Kol who just stared at him, his eyes shining with a small glare. "Have we met?" Damon asked and I frowned since I bloody hope not, it was bad enough my little brother once had a bromance with Nik, I couldn't bare it if yet another Mikaelson in which I'm close to had a past with one of my brothers especially my twin.

"I've met a lot of people" Kol shrugged towards the mayor before looking back towards Damon. "And you don't practically standout" he told him without ever taking my twins outstretched hand making me smirk a little as I walked up.

"Kol, play nice" I smiled at him and stepped up towards him.

"Sophia" he greeted smiling at me before turning back to Damon, mischief in his eyes. "I'm sure you've met my sister-in-law, the lovely Sophia Mikaelson"

"Of course, in fact I've known her longer than you have" Damon glared towards Kol before turning to me.

"Don't flatter yourself Damon, you only knew me as the pathetic girl who followed her twin brother around like a little lost puppy, the Mikaelson's know me for me" I spat before Kol began to lead me away to calm down before I did something that would ruin their mothers party and that wasn't the impression I wanted to give.

"That's your twin brother?" Kol asked as we walked away.

"Unfortunately not by choice" I laughed a little turning around to see Damon's reaction but he was already gone and when I looked around for him of course I'd find him with Elena who had clearly just arrived and was now on both my brothers arms which made me glare at her since she was such a bloody whore.

"So where's my brother, he's an idiot for leaving you looking this...ravishing"

"Kol, knock it off" I shoved him, a smile back on my face at his compliment. "I simply saw you approaching him and I didn't trust you not to create a scene"

"Ouch, Sophie...that hurts" he feigned hurt putting his hand over his heart.

"We both know you would" I remarked.

"Your right I would" he agreed putting his arm around my shoulders but I pushed him off shaking my head at him.

"Your bad tonight"

"You like it when I'm bad" he remarked and I hit his arm.

"Kol!" I laughed looking around and that's when I spotted Caroline walking in and I smiled since she'd actually worn the dress I gave her. "Excuse me" I spoke to Kol before I headed towards her. "Hello" I stepped in front of her and her eyes widened a little. "I knew that dress would look great on you"

"Why'd you give it to me?" she asked looking down at herself.

"I told you there's a whole world out there and dressing up in the finest of silks and fabrics is just the beginning Caroline" she seemed like she didn't know what to say. "Perhaps one day I'll even take you to Paris, they have the best boutiques" I winked at her before I left not letting her have a chance to argue, I don't know why I was being so nice to her but apart of me saw a little bit of myself in Caroline and so far she's been trapped in this town with my brothers telling her how to live her vampire life when there is a whole world out there to explore and enjoy.

"Uh...if everyone could gather please" Elijah began and my eyes widened quickly heading for the stairs where I found Nik.

"Cutting it close love" he smirked at me but I just smiled taking his arm as we ascended the stairs standing with the rest of his family and once again I felt slightly like an intruder but Nik had told me that this is what he wanted, me standing by his side and it was kind of a given being that I was his wife and a part of the Mikaelson family even if I wasn't an original.

"Welcome, thank you for joining us" Elijah continued speaking to the crowd gathering at the bottom of the stairs. "You know whenever my mother brings our family together like this, its tradition for us to commence the evening with a dance" I felt Nik's hand tighten around mine and I smiled at him recalling our practice earlier and hoped I didn't make a fool of myself.

"Do you see who I see?" I heard my twin's voice through the crowd and looked out finding him leaning into Stefan who was standing beside him.

"Oh yeah" Stefan replied and I saw they were looking above us so I followed their line of sight and saw Esther before I turned back to my brothers and saw both their eyes on me meaning they'd seen me look and knew I'd heard them.

"Tonight's pick is a centuries old waltz so if all of you could please find yourselves a partner please join us in the ballroom" Elijah finished making me turn back to him as he started leaving towards the ballroom and Nik drank the last of his champagne.

"Shall we love?" Nik asked holding out his hand and I smiled a little before placing my hand in his and he lead me down the stairs into the ballroom.

"Do not let me trip" I whispered towards Nik as we got into position.

"I've got you my love" he assured me before the music began and we started, side by side with my hands firmly gripping his as we danced matching everyone else around us before Nik spun me and we were facing each other smiling like idiots but I was actually doing this. "Your quite the dancer my love" he smirked as he moved us around the ballroom.

"I've had training and my teachers quite the dancer himself" I smiled at him.

"I know" he replied cockily but my smile just widened as we stepped back extending arms and I took a deep breath knowing this was the pass off and he pulled me back with a spin before I found myself in a different set of arms and I laughed when I saw brown eyes of my best friend.

"You planned that one, didn't you?" I asked with a small laugh as he started to lead me in the dance.

"Well you know me, any chance to annoy Nik by stealing you away"

"Good to see you haven't changed Kol" I smiled letting him lead me through the rest of the dance before another pass off happened and my eyes widened before I frowned when I fell into Damon's arms. "Really?" I asked as he spun me around effortlessly, he always was the better dancer between us.

"Don't look so upset, you used to love dancing with me at the founders balls and I used to have to pick you up on my feet because you were horrible at it remember" I frowned at him bringing that memory up again.

"That was before you turned into a dick" I spat looking around the room, anywhere to avoid looking at him.

"Sophia-"

"Don't, seriously" I snapped turning back to glare at him. "I honestly have nothing to say to you Damon"

"Alright I'll ask a question then, what's Esther want with Elena?" he asked and my brows furrowed.

"How would I know, I haven't spoken to the woman" I bit back annoyed that everything always came back to poor precious Elena Gilbert. "Now I'll ask a question, are you really that stupid to let history repeat itself and be lured into yet another feud between you and Stefan over a doppelganger?"

"Do you really care what either of us do?" he asked and I remained silent refusing to answer that question. "Besides your one to talk little sister, you're here shaking up with the original family"

"Yeah because I'm married to Klaus remember" I snapped at him with a glare. "I love him Damon" I admitted and his eyes locked with mine since that's the first time I've openly told him what Nik meant to me. "I know that may be hard for you and Stefan to believe but he came into my life when I needed him and I fell head over heels in love with him, so please if I ever meant anything to you please stop this war because the only one your going to continue to hurt is me" I told him right before the song ended and I stepped away with a small curtsy before I turned and left the ballroom fighting back tears since that's the first honest conversation I've had with him and it brought too many feelings in which I'd kept buried rushing to the surface.

I made my way to the bar to grab another glass of champagne needing the alcohol spotting Kol and Rebekah so I headed over towards them grabbing the glass right out of Kol's hand and drank the rest of his drink while they both looked at me especially when I grabbed another off the bar and drank it down in one go.

"What's driven you to drink darling?" Kol smirked amused by my behavior.

"Talking with my twin, thanks for passing me off to him by the way" I bit at him but he just shrugged with a smile. "You guys seen Nik?" I asked since I haven't seen him since the dance.

"No" Rebekah replied and I noticed her looking around for someone too, probably Matt who I'd seen her dancing with.

"Where's your date?" Kol asked probably seeing the chance to tease her about inviting him here.

"Flirting with his ex" Beks replied and I frowned feeling a little sorry for her, she tried so hard with guys even when she didn't have to.

"You've changed Bekah, you know settling for mortals is the first sign of weakness" Kol sang so I hit his arm.

"It is not" I argued since I'd been mortal once and Nik had taken a chance and turned me so it was possible.

"I'm not settling" Bekah argued before she turned to us. "I brought him here to kill him, he's Elena's friend if he dies she suffers" she added making both Kol and I turn to her a little surprised especially when Esther has forbidden them and extendedly me from hurting the locals. "But I've already been scolded once so..." she turned to Kol. "...I was hoping you'd help your baby sister out?"

"And spit right in the face of mothers rules?" Kol asked sounding like he was arguing but I knew him better and rolled my eyes when he suddenly smirked. "I'm in" he turned towards me. "What do you say Sophie, want to help?"

"No thanks, I'm staying out of this one Kol" I shook my head since the last thing I needed was that impression. "I'm gonna go find Nik"

"You used to be more fun" I heard Kol call out after me making me smile a little as I went in search of Nik but he'd disappeared and all these people were making me feel closed in so I went out the front for a quick breather smiling when I saw the horse drawn carriage and approached the horses, I missed horse drawn carriages.

"Hi sweet boy" I smiled patting it's nose, he reminded me so much of one of our horses that my father had for our carriage and I used to always visit the stables to give them treats since it was never appropriate for me to ride and he'd punish me if I even attempted it so I never dared but had always loved them anyway, I laughed when he nudged my side. "I don't have any treats for you"

"I never knew you had a soft spot for horses, love" I turned seeing Nik behind me as I pet the horses nose one last time before I stepped away so I didn't get my dress dirty.

"I used to love the horses my family owned, I'd give them treats even though I wasn't supposed to go near them" I admitted and he smiled a little as he turned towards the horses.

"You know horses are the opposite of people, they're loyal" I nodded my head but noticed his look sour a little. "As you know my father hunted me for a thousand years and the closest he ever came was the day he killed my favorite horse, he...he severed its neck with a sword as a warning"

"That's just cruel, to hurt and innocent animal like that, god your Dad was such an asshole" he laughed as we smiled at each other.

"I saw Kol passed you off to Damon love, are you alright?" he asked as we started walking out in the brisk air, I was glad that vampires didn't feel the cold since the night was actually beautiful.

"Nothing I can't handle" I replied since I didn't even want to think about my talk with Damon. "We should probably go back inside" I sighed since I wanted to keep an eye on Kol, he nodded reaching his arm out for me making me smile as I took his arm and we walked back into the party.

"Good evening, ladies and gentlemen waiters are coming round with champagne, I invite you all to join me in raising a glass" Nik immediately grabbed two off the waiters tray handing me one making me smile again. "It provides me with no greater joy than to see my family back together as one, I'd like to thank you all for being part of this spectacular evening, cheers" she raises her glass and everyone say cheers and raise their glass as I smile at Nik and clink glasses before we take a drink.

"I want you to see something, come" he grabbed my glass placing it onto a passing waitresses tray along with his before grabbing my hand leading me up the stairs.

"Are you whizzing me off to have sex during your mothers party, shame on you Niklaus" I laughed as he did pulling me into a room in which I hadn't come in before and my eyes widened when I saw art supplies, easels and artworks hanging on the walls. "You set up an art room" I stared around in amazement seeing all Nik's artwork since he was just an amazing artist.

"You know I wouldn't be opposed to what you had insinuated up the stairs love" I turned seeing him smiling and I rolled my eyes.

"I'd rather not be caught fornicating during your mothers party, I think she already doesn't like me" I argued looking through some of the drawings on the table.

"What makes you say that?" he questioned walking up to stand next to me as I smiled down at a portrait of me that he'd drawn.

"I guess it's my fault as well, I haven't really spoken to her because well..." I trailed off since I still didn't want to bring up my feelings, my suspicions in case I was wrong. "She scares me a little" he laughed and I turned hitting his shoulder. "It's not funny Nik, she's this all powerful witch and I'm...a nobody infiltrating her family"

"Hey your not nobody" he placed his hands on my waist and turned me around. "I don't bloody care what my mother thinks, you are my wife and nothing can change that whether my family like it or not"

"Well we definitely know Kol doesn't like it" I joked and he rolled his eyes before he ran his fingers over my cheek before cupping it in his hand.

"You are a Mikaelson my love" he smiled before kissing me and I smiled wrapping my arms around his neck.

"You know technically I'm a Salvatore-Mikaelson" I laughed as I pulled back. "We kept my name in case Mikael-" he cut me off with his lips and I smiled against his lips as his hands gripped my waist and lifted me to sit on the table after he'd knocked a few of his art supplies and drawings aside.

It was pretty naïve of us but I couldn't wipe the smile off my face as we emerged from his art room looking like teenagers fresh from a closet romp session and I furiously smoothed out my dress while he fixed his bowtie and I quickly fixed his hair as it was a little out of place while we laughed like a couple of kids.

"I'm gonna get us some drinks, I'll be right back" he told me once we were presentable and we had headed back down to the party luckily where it seemed we hadn't been missed.

"...I was waiting outside for you, where's Matt?" I heard Kol's voice and looked up seeing him and Bekah under the stairs and frowned when I remembered their plan to kill the human just because of Elena and I knew I couldn't let it happen so I approached them.

"About that, I uh...I changed my mind" Bekah replied so I stopped since clearly she's had a change of heart. "I don't want to ruin mothers night"

"Don't tell me you like this boy?" Kol asked her making me frown again as I rolled my eyes, Kol's view on love was the only thing we ever disagreed with. "And what did he do, he gave you 5 seconds of his attention?" my frown turned into a glare since that was another thing I hated about all the Mikaelson boys, they picked on Rebekah's desperation to be loved when I knew how hard it was for her to actually find genuine love and she'd told me about the boys she thought she'd found it with...and her brothers ruining any shred of that love by killing them. "Don't be so predictable Rebekah"

"You don't have to be rude about it Kol" I stepped in making them both turn to me as I moved to Bekah's side, us girls have to stick together after all.

"Just leave him be, okay" Rebekah added glaring at her brother before she walked off.

"As you wish sister" Kol replied and I instantly knew he wasn't going to drop this.

"Kol don't" I warned him and he turned to me.

"You used to be so much more fun Sophie" he said and I rolled my eyes before I turned to go and find Nik but just as I turned I felt Kol move and my head snapped to the side where everything went black.

A/N: Ouch...who thinks Sophia's not gonna take that one laying down :')
