Sophia's POV

I gasped shooting upright looking around noticing I was on Nik and I's bed in our room, changed out of my dress into some shorts and a singlet top but with the sun outside I knew I'd been out all night and that's when the feeling and memory came back to me getting my neck snapped and...Kol!.

"KOL!" I yelled getting up and sped downstairs finding him sitting with Nik and I charged towards him but he moved out of my way. "You snapped my neck, you asshole!" I picked up a book and threw it at his head but he dodged it.

"Come on darling, no hard feelings"

"No hard feelings?" I spat picking up the next closest thing and threw at him but stupid original reflexes meant he easily moved his head out of the way which is what I was aiming for. "You snapped my neck for no reason!"

"You would have ratted me out darling" he smirked like the smug little bastard that he was and I picked up yet another thing and threw it at him but it was just a pillow and this one he just caught further sparking my anger.

"God your such as arse!" I seethed before I huffed sitting down on the couch next to Nik who was smirking clearly enjoying this whole thing. "So did you kill the poor quarterback?" I asked after a few tense minutes of silence.

"No" Kol scoffed taking a seat on the chair across from us again seeing as I wasn't going to attack him anymore, at least not right now anyway. "Your bloody twin got in the way and snapped my neck" I raised an eye at that but couldn't help the smile.

"Well good, for once my twin was good for something" I crossed my arms and leaned back against the couch before I turned to Nik. "It better have been you that changed me"

"Of course, you'd think I'd let any of my siblings see what's mine" he replied still enjoying this and I rolled my eyes a little as I moved my legs over his lap and one of his hands immediately came down to rest on them while he leant his art pad against my legs to continue whatever sketch he was currently working on and I grabbed a random book opening it to read in order to distract myself from waiting to kill Kol right now.

"Well, well, well there's our girl" I looked up at Kol's words seeing Bekah walking in still in her dress from last night and Kol blocked her way.

"Get out of my way Kol" she warned him.

"Out all night, what a scandal I trust you did better than that commoner, Matt was it?" I rolled my eyes at Kol's antics since he just couldn't help himself.

"If you don't shut your mouth the next thing to come out of it will be your teeth" Rebekah argued and I saw Nik smirk over the top of my book so I kicked my foot out. "Don't start Nik"

"I didn't say anything" Nik replied still smug trying to contain his laughter.

"I'm bored, our sister is a strumpet but at least she's having fun, like you used to be Sophia" Kol said falling into the armchair across from us and I glared at him as I threw my book aiming it for his head but he moved out of the way just in the nick of time again angering me even more. "I need entertainment not books thrown at my head"

"What are you waiting for, have at it" Nik told him still sketching away.

"It's no fun to go alone, join me Nik or has Sophia finally turned you into a doting house husband" Nik and I both glared at him for that one. "It's the least you could do after sticking a dagger in my heart" he added and Nik's glare fell looking up at him.

"You snapped my neck!" I shouted at him and he smiled clearly just enjoying the attention he was getting.

"I'll buy all your drinks as forgiveness" he shrugged and I scoffed rolling my eyes before I turned to Nik and we shared a look since we could use the relaxation of getting drunk.

"Okay, why not?" he put down his sketch pad and charcoal. "I didn't have nearly enough to drink last night with you trying to murder Rebekah's date" he moved my legs off his lap and stood.

"Yes please go, this house has enough men rolling around in it" Rebekah retaliated and I chuckled as I stood up and started following Nik and Kol out.

"Just like you Bekah" Kol turned having to have the last word.

"Good riddance, both of you" Bekah exclaimed throwing her heel at him but she too sadly missed and I frowned since seriously I was gonna tie Kol down just so we can throw things at him without him dodging it...Mm that's a good revenge idea, I smirked as I followed them out to Nik's car.

"In the back Kol, I get shotgun!" I called stopping him from getting in and pushed him out of the way.

"No way, I'm older!" he argued.

"In vampire years" I smirked since I was technically older in human years before I turned being 25 where Kol was 19.

"That's still older" he spat making me smirk when Nik looked over rolling his eyes at our bickering.

"Kol get in the back" he told him and my smirk widened. "My car, my wife, my rules"

"Ha!" I spat laughing as I got into the passenger seat while Kol grumpily got in the back.

"You two are children" Nik rolled his eyes again.

"Are not!" Kol and I both yelled before we laughed, I was seriously incapable of staying mad and either of them and I hated them for it.

We arrived at The Grill and headed inside walking towards the bar but frowned when we overheard Alaric Saltzman talking to a woman about some serial killer running around Mystic Falls, we knew about the killings being all members of the absurd founders council and now they were thinking it was a vampire...aka-one of us.

"You think the killers a...vampire?"

"There are no other suspects, it's the obvious conclusion" the woman replied right as we stopped at the bar.

"Oh come on now, lets not go blaming the new family in town just cause you lot have got a psycho killer at large" Nik interrupted him while I smirked a little stopping between the brothers when Alaric turned towards us. "Don't mind us, my brother, wife and I are just here to let off some steam, right Kol?"

"Right" Kol agreed looking straight at the woman with Alaric and I rolled my eyes since he was such an idiot, I could tell exactly what he was thinking without even it needing to me said.

Alaric and his friend quickly left making me smile as I ordered another round of tequila shots since the moment we had our first it turned into a drinking contest between me and Kol and we were well onto our tenth round while Nik stood by drinking bourbon which Kol and I had on the side.

"Give it up Kol" I sang downing my eleventh shot biting into the lemon sucking slightly on in before I dropped it into the empty shot glass.

"I can do this all night darling" he smirked stepping closer as he threw back his twelfth.

"Well so can I...darling" I smirked back grabbing two and did them immediately one after the after before throwing my hands up.

"You two are ridiculous" Nik rolled his eyes at our antics.

"Aw feeling left out Nik?" Kol laughed at him.

"Say another word and I'll tear out your liver" Nik replied and I rolled my eyes turning to Nik.

"Don't worry Niklaus, you and I can do body shots later" I winked at him and heard Kol let out a disgusted noise behind us before I threw back one more coughing slightly since I hadn't had salt in the last 3 shots so I quickly grabbed a lemon and sucked on it to help with the taste while I kept eye contact with Nik who smirked at me and winked back.

"Now I remember why you and I went out alone darling" Kol said getting my attention back to him.

"Because the party doesn't start until Kolphia walks in!" I whooped slightly drunker than the boys and Kol high fived me laughing his ass off while Nik just rolled his eyes when we went back to our shots and I was dominating as we went down the line of 15 more shots and just as I finished my last one first I turned only to glare at Kol when he stood leaning against the bar, all shot glasses upside down already done with a smirk on his face. "You cheated!"

"I did not" Kol argued shaking his head with a Kol dashing smile.

"Rematch!" I exclaimed and started signaling down the bartender.

"I think that's enough" Nik cut in but I waved him off.

"No Kol's cheating, I demand a rematch!" I yelled not caring that multiple people were watching us now.

"Okay love that's definitely enough, lets get you some air" Nik cut in again and grabbed my waist starting to lead me out.

"No hard feelings darling but you always were quite the lightweight"

"I am not!" I argued glaring at Kol's stupid smiling face trying to duck under Nik's arm but he grabbed me around the waist lifting me up and carried me out of The Grill over to the town center where he sat me down on a bench.

"Sober up love"

"I was so about to beat his ass" I argued before everything started spinning a little and I laughed since it was kind of cool, I haven't been this drunk since Kol was un-daggered the last time and we bar hopped through New Orleans. "I've missed him like...so much"

"I've noticed" Nik laughed sounding amused as he sat down next to me and I sighed leaning my head on his shoulder.

"I love you" I announced randomly.

"Both of me?" he asked and I nodded making him laugh.

"Am I a good wife?" I suddenly asked and felt his head turn towards mine, his lips pressed into my hair.

"The only one I want which makes you perfect" he replied and I smiled snuggling my head into his shoulder. "You sobering up yet love?" I looked up noticing things were clearing up, my healing sobering me up faster than any human.

"Little bit" I nodded before I turned my head looking up at him. "This is nice, feels almost normal for once" I laughed quietly and went to grab his hand but Nik suddenly pulled it away from mine and towards his chest over his heart. "What?" I asked suddenly very sober thinking he was hurt. "Nik talk to me!" I said getting up as he did but he turned towards The Grill.

"Kol" he said and my eyes widened taking off in and instant seeing Alaric and his friend dragging a desiccated Kol out of the lower entrance of The Grill with a dagger in his heart with my brothers clearly here to pick up the body so I sped down and immediately ripped the dagger out of Kol before throwing Alaric to the side knocking him against the wall glaring at my brothers.

Stefan suddenly sped towards me but I moved out of the way and used his own momentum against him knocking him over into the stairs before meeting the eyes of my twin feeling Nik behind me watching my every move with a smile.

"I should have killed you months ago" I glared at Damon.

"Do it, that's not going to stop Esther from killing him" he spat nodding behind me at Nik and I turned sharing a look with him before both of us turned back to Damon.

"What did you say about my mother?" Nik demanded walking towards him and Damon cowardly moved back keeping distance between them.

"You didn't know I was friends with your mummy?" Damon shot back and I glared at him since I should have trusted my instinct, I should have told Nik that I'd had a bad feeling since I've never been wrong before. "Yeah we have a lot in common, she hates you as much as I do" Nik went to attack Damon.

"Leave him!" Elijah's voice stopped him and we turned seeing him a top the stairs. "We still need him Niklaus"

"What did mother do?" Nik asked him walking away from my twin but I stayed close since I wasn't done with him yet. "What did she do Elijah?" Elijah didn't reply but walked down and headed for my twin pulling out his phone from his jacket.

"You tell me where the witches are or I'll have my sister kill Elena right now" my eyes widened a little since Elijah wasn't usually the type to threaten people.

"You told me we had until after 9" Damon argued after looking up at the clock tower.

"I'm sure Rebekah would be more than happy to start her work early" Elijah countered and I smiled a little crossing my arms as I turned towards Damon as he has no choice but to tell us exactly where Esther is with Bonnie and her mother before they left to do what had to be done.

"Kol!" I exclaimed when I noticed he'd woken up and I rushed over to hug him tightly.

"I'm quite alright darling, thanks to you" he smiled at me and I laughed before I turned to Nik and Elijah.

"So what's the plan?" I asked them and they all shared a look.

"You're going back to the mansion love" Nik spoke up and my eyes widened.

"You're not serious right?" I asked but he just looked at me. "No, I'm not waiting around at home while you...all of you risk your lives, I'm coming with you" I insisted and started to walk up the stairs.

"It's for your protection" Nik argued.

"Nik's right darling which is why I'm sorry for this" I heard Kol say and before I knew it I was again felt my neck snap before everything went black.

I woke up once again finding myself on Nik and I's bed and sat straight up feeling angry that Kol had snapped my neck again, I swung my legs over the side of the bed ready to give him a piece of my mind but my hand came in contact with a piece of paper and I frowned recognizing the handwriting spelling out my name on the front so I flipped it open.

My Darling Sophia,

I am sorry that I had to be the one to snap your neck once again but I could not let you get hurt by involving yourself in our family mess, I understand that you probably very upset with me now now and for that I'm sorry but I had to keep you safe and it's because I care for you as your my best friend darling and I love you like a sister.

Your probably wondering why I'm saying all this in a letter and probably freaking out thinking that something bad happened tonight but I assure you I am writing this to you after we confronted my mother and failed to take care of her as she has fled with our pathetic brother Finn so please I must ask that you be careful and promise me that you'll take care of yourself because I have already left Mystic Falls.

Yours
Forever & Always
Kol

I re-read the letter a few times frowning that he just left without even saying goodbye or giving me the chance to scold and throw things at him for once again snapping my neck but the part about their mother had me a little worried so I stood and went in search for Nik to get more answers on what the hell happened.

"I thought you'd have gone by now" I heard Nik's voice from his art room so I headed in that direction hoping that he was talking to Kol since he was not leaving like this. "Elijah's leaving, Kol has fled" I stopped just outside the door since it was obvious he wasn't talking to Kol. "Esther and Finn are gone too" I frowned since Kol had been right about that part in his letter.

"I hated you when I learned you killed our mother...but I realize now that after a thousand years together as a family, you're the only one who never left me" I heard Bekah reply, the only one that hasn't left apparently.

"Well, aren't we a pair?" Nik replied and I could hear the smile in his voice and I sighed knowing I'd hid long enough and walked in.

"Guess it's just us three then, just like old times" I smiled at them as I walked over to Nik and hit his arm. "That was for standing by and letting Kol snap my neck again"

"Sorry love" he smiled pressing a kiss to my forehead. "We just wanted you safe" he added and I tried to keep the frown off my face.

"There's something I think you need to see" Bekah suddenly said and pulled out her phone turning it towards us.

"Come to brag about your skills as a torturer?" Nik smiled walking over and took the phone from her.

"Look at the images on the wall behind Elena" I moved closer to stare at the phone too but all I saw was scribbles and drawings. "The natives told the story of our family history, look at the images on the far wall"

"What is it?" I asked since clearly this meant something to them which meant it must be Viking script or along those lines.

"A native worshiping at the white oak tree" Rebekah replied.

"And?" Nik pressed not seeing the relevance since I knew the story on how they burnt that tree after they discovered it could kill them. "We burnt that tree to the ground"

"Look at the markings that precede it, that's the native calendar" she went on and Nik studied the phone for a second.

"This can't be right" he said and I frowned confused as hell as all I saw were swirls.

"A white oak tree 300 years after we fled back to the old world" Bekah nodded and my eyes widened. "There must have been a sapling, a new tree to replace the old" I turned sharing a look with them since that meant... "That tree could kill us, it's not over, Nik" Rebekah spoke the words that none of us wanted to hear and when I turned to Nik I saw the one expression that almost never thought I'd see from him because he rarely ever felt it but it was there…fear.

A/N: Please review, I'm losing faith that this story is even any good.

A lot of ghost readers, post a guest review if your more comfortable but I like reassurance that my stories are good by people telling me their thoughts even if it's corrective criticism since it helps me become a better writer I'd hope.
