Time Period: A Flashback- An Alternate Different Universe
Situation: Destiny's homebirth
John's p.o.v
Due to accountability purposes and a desire to help my wife, I am allowed to witness the birth. "Push again, Gwen. You can do this" Judah motivates my wife. Gwen has reached the end of her strength. She fears she may die in childbirth. I provide encouragement and extra body support for her. She cries, screams, and pushes until she feels a great release. Anxiously, we wait to hear our baby cry and to bond with him or her. "My baby is not crying. Why can't I hold my baby? What is wrong with my baby?" Gwen questions Judah. "The baby is deformed. She has Down Syndrome" Judah reveals. Gwen and I cry both sad and happy tears.
Time Period: The Present Reality
Place: A Local Market
"It has Down Syndrome. There are places for its kind" a man remarks in passing. "What do you mean there are places for its kind?" I inquire. "People with special needs don't belong in society. You should send it away to a mental institution" the man recommends. I am offended by his words. "My baby's name is Destiny Iris Gwen Watson. I am not sending her away" I politely close our conversation.
