Sophia's POV
I was rudely woken up by my phone ringing with my little brother practically demanding that Nik and I had to meet with him and although I had been ready to hang up since I owed them nothing it was Nik who had taken the phone from me having woken up and agreed to meet him at the Boarding House which is how I'd begrudgingly found myself walking into my families home where we saw Caroline cleaning up red cups and a hell of a mess that told me there had been a party.
"Desperate times I take it" Nik spoke up announcing our presence as she drank out of a cup she'd picked up.
"What are you doing here?" she asked not even looking back at us.
"Well considering this is my family's home I should be asking you that" I remarked.
"Not judging you for starters" Nik stated clearly talking about her drinking out some random cup since that was completely disgusting and unsanitary.
"If you are determined to get drunk then perhaps I'd recommend something a little more sanitary" I suggested but she glared and grabbed another drink tipping it back into her mouth glaring at us.
"Well then you showed us" Nik shot at her while I rolled my eyes since this was wasting my precious time.
"Shouldn't you be out chasing Tyler to the ends of the earth or are there some hopes and dreams you want to crush around here?" she asked looking at Nik.
"Depends, do you happen to know where the young Brutus is?" Nik asked her and I shook my head as I started walking over to Damon's liquor cabinet but frowned when I noticed most of it was empty meaning the delinquents that attended the obvious party had gotten into it.
"I know where he's not...with me, he gave Matt the deed to the house so he's gone for good" she replied glaring at him.
"Tyler made it his life's mission to kill him, consider it a gift he's not dead" I cut in glaring as I finally found a bottle of bourbon near empty but I grabbed it and drank some knowing I was gonna need the alcohol to get through whatever this was.
"Well if you don't mind, I'd like to get back to spiraling so go away" she spat at me but I noticed Stefan walk in.
"Actually, I asked them to be here, we need their help" he spoke up but I glared at him since if he thought I was going to help... "I think Silas is in Mystic Falls" my face fell as all anger dropped and I turned to Nik sharing a look, that can't be good for any of us if a sliver of what Kol feared was true.
"How can you be so sure?" I asked turning to Stefan.
"Entire blood supplies have gone missing from three hospitals all surrounding Mystic Falls" he replied but that wasn't exactly solid evidence that it was Silas.
"So some blood went missing from a few hospitals" Nik argued walking over to where I was and took the bourbon from my hand pouring himself a glass before putting it down. "What about Elena, don't vampires with their humanity off tend to overindulge in human blood or were you the exception?" he added and I turned towards him.
"Wait, wait...Elena's flipped her humanity off?" I asked looking between the three of them before my eyes settled on Nik. "You knew about this and neglected to tell me?" I asked him and he frowned but didn't answer.
"It's not Elena" Stefan spoke up answering Nik's question ignoring me which made me turn to glare at him.
"Seriously, none of you thought to tell me this?" I went on angry. "Wow, at least I know where I stand" I spat shaking my head.
"We'll talk about it later" Nik spoke towards me in Aramaic which had Stefan and Caroline sharing a look. "Well let's say for a moment that it was Silas, I'm struggling to see how this affects me" Nik spoke up taking a seat on the couch.
"Look Silas wants to die and be reunited with his one true love but he's supernatural so if he takes the cure and dies he gets stuck on the other side" Stefan replied and I frowned picking up the bottle again drinking straight out of it.
"How Shakespearian" Nik smirked clearly amused.
"But if he destroys the other side altogether he can take the cure, die and pass on but in destroying it, every dead supernatural being will return to our side" Stefan went on undeterred by Nik's comment but I looked up since that could mean...I could see Kol again.
"That means every werewolf, every witch, every vampire, I wonder how many of those you personally killed, care yet?" Caroline spoke up glaring at Nik while I hung my head since that was the downfall to the Other Side coming down.
"My interest is piqued" Nik responded looking up towards me like he had read my mind and frowned making me lower my eyes to the ground. "How do we stop him?" I looked back up.
"Bonnie said Silas needs to complete 3 massacres to do this spell, before Professor Shane died he convinced the pastor to blow up the council, next he had you kill your hybrids" I gave Nik a look since I knew that had been a set up. "And now he only needs one more massacre, so if he's here that's what he's doing, we need to find him"
"Well great, any ideas brother?" I spat glaring at Stefan since he was the one to drag us into this.
"Professor Shane's office, maybe there's something there that can tell us what this third massacre is" he replied making my frown grow since I hadn't actually thought he'd have an answer.
"Whatever let's get this over with then" I let out a sigh as I started walking for the door before they started following and we all left heading for Whitmore College letting ourselves into this professor's office but I frowned since seemed he was quite the collector which meant this could take some time, meaning I was stuck with my backstabbing, uncaring little brother.
"What are we even looking for?" Caroline asked as we walked into the professor's office, the first thing I noticed was a whole bunch of artifacts from all over the world.
"Well if Shane really was working with Silas, chances are he was helping him plan his next move" Stefan replied and I scoffed.
"That didn't really answer the question Stef" I protested as I started moving a few things around trying to find anything that looked like it had anything to do with magic which could pretty much be everything in this room but expression had it's own look on paper.
"Where, on his evil villain-to-do list?" Caroline added from across the room. "Steal blood, perform three massacres, pick-up dry cleaning"
"Actually not to nitpick but we evil villains usually use minions to pick our dry cleaning and that sort of thing" Nik spoke up making me bite back a snigger seeing Stefan roll his eyes but I didn't care, he was right technically since when we had the hybrids we'd never had to do crap like that.
"Why are they necessary again?" Caroline asked looking over at Stefan as Nik and I glared at her.
"Well we don't know what Silas can do, so if we do have to go head to head with him, an original hybrid who can't die might come in handy" Stefan replied so I turned my glare to him.
"My husband is not cannon fodder for you two idiots, ask your doppelbitch about what happens for the next time you think you can try to kill him or me for that matter" I spat at him before I stormed to the other side of the room.
"What are you talking about?" I heard Stefan ask but I ignored him.
"Besides that, Stefan and I work well together" Nik added more than most likely to change the subject. "Or at least we did in the 20's"
"Well granted my uh...my emotions were off" Stefan argued with him taking the baited subject change.
"And that's why you were more fun" Nik replied making me laugh having to agree with that, my emotional little brother was a bore even I'll admit that but my attention quickly went to a book which looked promising. "Just as Damon is probably relishing in Elena's emotionless company in New York" I looked back over raising my eye, Damon was in New York with Elena.
"My brother knows what he's doing" Stefan spat back at Nik and I frowned looking down, they honest didn't even care that I was their sister, that I was apart of their family.
"Does he?" I turned my head grabbing the book off the shelf and flipped through it seeing if there was anything about massacres. "Don't underestimate the allure to darkness Stefan, even the purest hearts are drawn to it" I looked up feeling Nik's eyes move over to me and smirked a little. "Still I'm sure it will all be fine"
"I think I found something" I spoke up just because I was over this conversation and I walked over to the desk with the book laying it out. "...'Symbolic figures in the dark arts'..."
"Didn't Bonnie talk about expression triangles?" Caroline added coming over as Stefan looks down.
"...'in some schools of magic such as expression, human sacrifice can be used as a focus for power, it's rumored that the addition of two supernatural sacrifices compounds the mystical energy, creating an expression triangle'..." Stefan read out the passage.
"Humans...that was the council fire" Caroline pointed to one of the symbols on the drawing of an expression triangle. "Demons...Klaus' hybrid failure" Nik looked up with a small glare.
"Well, I wouldn't exactly call it a failure" he retorted.
"What's the third?" I asked to keep us on track since the faster we got this done, the better.
"Oh, no" Caroline stated taking a step back.
"What Caroline, spit it out!?" I exclaimed rolling my eyes.
"Witches" I looked back at Nik for a second before I turned my head towards Stefan.
"You need to call your witch" he nodded and quickly left to get a hold of her. "You blondie find a map in this junk, we need to figure out where this could go down" she glared at me but left to do what she was told leaving Nik and I behind and I sat down in his lap.
"Your very bossy today"
"The less time spent with my brother, the better" I sighed letting my head rest back.
"I know what your thinking Sophia, we can't bring him back"
"But we could Nik, what if we found a way to just let him come through...I could, I mean we would have him back"
"Sophia-"
"There's been two massacres" Caroline's voice suddenly interrupted us and I sat up as she walked over with a map laying it out on the desk. "Pastor Young's farm is here and the old Lockwood cellar, where you spitefully slaughtered 12 of your own hybrids is here" she marked them out on the map then linked them with a line. "According to the book, the expression triangle is equilateral, putting it here" she drew another mark and connected them all into a triangle but she was failing to see the other.
"Somebody's been skipping their geometry classes" I stated taking the marker off her "There are actually two places where the third massacre could be" I drew it the other way then connected it up making a diamond shape.
"Well, you didn't let me finish" she stated making me roll my eyes for the lie but before I could call her out Stefan came back in. "Hey, what's going on did you find Bonnie?" Caroline asked him.
"No but I talked to her Dad, I think I found Silas" he replied and I frowned confused.
He told us about Shane supposedly still being alive but Damon was sure that Shane had died on the island which meant that he was Silas and the cover made sense if he needed Bonnie to commit the third massacre so we split up to get to these possible places but Caroline and Stefan seemingly decided they couldn't trust us to save the teenage witch so they split Nik and I up meaning I was forced to walk through the woods with my little brother who had called Damon on our way to fill him in on the progress back here.
"So Silas is appearing as Professor Shane, wouldn't be my first choice"
"Well it would be if you needed to brainwash Bonnie into committing a massacre"
"You need me to come home?" I heard Damon ask him as I continued walking following wordlessly behind Stefan.
"No, we got it" Stefan replied and looked back as if checking to make sure I was still here making me roll my eyes at the clear distrust even though I was helping and have proved more useful than any of them having found the book leading us to here and now. "How's the cure search going?" I quirked an eyebrow my interest suddenly piqued.
"Well not great, I mean it's no massacre in the making but Rebekah trailed us here" Damon replied and I smirked since leave it to Rebekah to know where to be to get this cure and I hoped she was the one to get it and not Elena but either way she wasn't going to live long enough if I had anything to say about it. "In addition to my buddy being a brilliant identity thief he's also a hoarder"
"What are you trying to find?"
"Will had a repeat customer, 5'7 brunette, said she was a runner" Damon replied.
"Katherine" Stefan pointed out stopping.
"Turns out I was helping her run from me...ironic" I scoffed rolling my eyes since what had he expected. "Problem is I'm pretty sure that this filling system goes by birth date and for the life of me I can't remember Katherine's"
"June 5th, 1473" Stefan answered instantly without missing a beat and I raised my eyes at him since even I hadn't cared enough to remember Katherine's birthday.
"And that brother is why you are the better boyfriend" Damon praised him making me roll my eyes.
"Or because you suck at dates Damon, you probably don't even remember mine" I spat trying to throw him smirking to myself.
"June 18th, 1839, at 11:26am" I stared at the phone wide eyed. "Of course I was born at 11:14am making me the better twin" I could hear his smirk making my eyes narrow into a glare towards the phone. "Well you look at that, I made our sister eat her own words and found all of Katherine's former addresses...including a couple from the last two months, they're mostly P.O boxes but hey it narrows down the search"
"Well your welcome" Stefan replied. "So you headed back now?"
"Yeah, tomorrow morning got to keep up the ruse for the terrible twosome outside, pretend like I'm having a good time"
"And your not?" Stefan and I both asked him at the same time since I found it hard to believe that Damon wasn't enjoying a humanity-less Elena and partying with her.
"I'll tell you tomorrow" he replied then hung up making me scoff and roll my eyes as we continued forward to look for this sacrifice spot.
"What did you mean back there?" Stefan asked as we walked with him checking our position to make sure we were headed in the right direction.
"I don't know what your referring to exactly" I argued playing it off.
"Come on Sophia, are you ever gonna just be serious"
"Excuse me" I spat at him stopping.
"Your never gonna forgive us-"
"Don't spout that crap Stefan, you and Damon couldn't give a damn about me"
"Yeah sure that's what Klaus makes you believe right"
"Klaus doesn't make me believe anything, unlike you he doesn't have to compel my loyalty and devotion Stefan because I love him not that either of you really care because then you wouldn't have spent so much time and energy trying to kill my husband"
"Because he's not right for you"
"Don't try and tell me whose right for me, especially when you two are constantly fighting over a girl who isn't right for either of you especially Elena" I spat glaring at him. "At least Katherine was honest about herself" I scoffed as I continued walking trying to get this over and done with already so I could leave.
"What the hell does that mean?" he asked following me but I ignored him watching his eyes roll. "You hardly even know Elena-"
"I don't have to know her to notice how whiny she is and to know that she thinks the world revolves around her, not to mention the fact that she thinks she's some innocent little damsel by having you idiots do all the heinous acts for her, oh yeah...and the fact that she killed my best friend for no reason other than so she can selfishly get a cure she doesn't even deserve!" I exclaimed unable to hold my tongue any longer. "Have I missed anything...oh right...she also tried to kill me not that you or Damon would care about that"
"What'd you do to her?" Stefan asked and I stared at him.
"She'd just killed my best friend right in front of me, what'd you think I did but the fact that you just had to ask me that proves my point Stefan, it's always gonna be Elena" I spat hearing chanting ahead so I sped the rest of the way finally spotting the teenage witch tied down and writhing on the ground with exactly 12 witches performing some kind of spell.
"Stop!" Stefan yelled speeding into the circle. "It's not what you think"
"This is no place for vampires" the witch performing the spell on Bonnie spat glaring right at us.
"She's working for Silas" Stefan argued and I quickly rolled my eyes especially when I saw the witches eyes widen in realization and recognition over the name 'Silas' since it probably wasn't very wise to mention that if he wanted their teenage witch to stay alive.
"Silas?" she asks looking at him before her eyes drop to the teen witch.
"He brainwashed her to kill you" Stefan went on as the teen witch whimpered right as the other witch pulled out a hunting knife. "Wait, what are you doing?" Stefan asks noticing it and steps closer.
"If Silas has her, she's lost" the witch replied looking up at us. "We can't save her"
"Wait!" Stefan said stepping closer but the witch threw out her hard and I felt the vessels in my head burst giving me a bloody brain aneurism.
"I have the power of 12 witches, you don't stand a chance!" she yelled at us.
"I wasn't even trying" I groaned holding onto the sides of my head trying to fight against the power bursting my brain open.
"Sophia" I heard Stefan groan before his hand grabbed mine and pulled me and himself out of the circle which seemed to break the spell and I felt the pain in my head disappear.
"Phesmatos repallus tantian..." the witches began to chant right as I felt someone speed up behind me and place a hand on my back and with the way my body instantly relaxed under the touch I knew who it was and turned my head seeing Nik letting out a sigh.
"You alright, love?" he asked, I nodded my head standing up straighter looking back at Stefan a little surprised that he'd pulled me out of the circle before we turned to Nik and Caroline to fill them in on the fact that the witches were linked and wanting to kill their friend.
"They're linked, Bonnie's gonna kill them"
"Not if the witches kill her first" Nik argued with Stefan pushing him up against a tree to stop him from doing something stupid.
"Klaus, we need to save her" Caroline protested making me roll my eyes.
"How?" I spat turning to glare at her. "The only way to stop the witches is to kill them and then Silas gets what he wants" I added since I was gonna make damn sure that didn't happen since it'd been exactly what Kol had warned us against and we hadn't listened.
"Spirits, take her soul, free her from darkness" the witch kneeling over Bonnie suddenly yelled out and raised the knife above her head about to kill Bonnie who screamed but before the witch got the chance Caroline sped towards her and turned the witches hand plunging it into her heart instead of Bonnie's.
"NO!" I yelled moving towards Caroline knocking her away from the witch who fell to the ground dead and her companions all started to drop too linked in death.
"Bonnie...Bonnie!" Caroline calls out after watching all 12 witches die.
"The triangle is complete" Bonnie replied smiling, her eyes pure white.
I left with Stefan who was taking Bonnie home since I wanted to know more about what Silas had told her so that I could stop him no matter the cost because that's what Kol would have wanted but she'd passed out and I was stuck waiting outside her house since I hadn't been invited in and began pacing annoyed while Stefan waited inside for her to wake up.
"How you feeling?" I heard Stefan ask along with the sounds of rustling meaning Bonnie must be awake.
"What are you doing here, how'd I get here?" Bonnie replied making me stop my pacing turning to the sound of the voices in confusion.
"What do you mean?" Stefan asked her in his own confusion. "I...I brought you home, the witches almost killed you"
"What witches?" she asked him furthering our confusion.
"You don't remember?" I moved towards the house but had to stop at the threshold. "Whatever the witches did must have messed with your memory" Stefan realized.
"How did I get off the island?" Bonnie suddenly asked him and my brows knitted together since what the hell did she mean by that.
"Wait Bonnie...what's the last thing you can remember?" Stefan asked her.
"I guess I remember being in that cave and Jeremy was trying to pry the cure out of Silas' hands...please tell me he got it" she replied and just by the sound of her voice I knew she was serious, what the hell has Silas done to her. "We didn't get it, did we?"
"Bonnie, there's something you need to know about Jeremy" Stefan sighed and I turned letting him tell her since it was obvious she was useless for information and when Stefan finally came out I followed him back to the Boarding House to find out what his next plan was since he seemed to steamrolling this quest to defeat Silas so for once my brother and I were on the same side but before I could even ask what that step was his phone rang.
"Damon, what did you do?" Stefan asked him the moment he picked up.
"Let's just say it involves a 5'7" brunette and her blond accomplice"
"Please don't tell me this is going where I think it is" Stefan groaned while I just rolled my eyes since leave it to Damon to underestimate Elena.
"Wrong fantasy brother, unless you're into betrayal and snapped necks" Damon exhaled loudly. "The lead I had on Katherine Elena stole" he told us and Stefan let out the sigh this time. "If you're searching for the words to tell me how badly I screwed up, save your breath"
"I didn't stop the massacre" Stefan told him and there was silence from Damon for a few seconds.
"Guess Silas has everything he needs"
"Everything but the cure" Stefan replied and I rolled my eyes since my brothers were absolute idiots and I had to see this though, for Kol.
