Sophia's POV
Of course things continued to not get any better and delayed us going to Mystic Falls since as we woke up this morning, news quickly spread that Davina had flown the coop when Nik went to invite the little witch to breakfast which was shocking for the fact that she had slipped out right from under our noses and unfortunately with the Casket Girls celebrations taking over Main Street right now, tracking her down was going to be difficult.
I walked down to check up on Hayley since we didn't need any more wayward disappearances but when I tracked her down I stopped just outside the door when I heard Elijah's voice alongside hers and peered into the room seeing he was doing up the back of a lace white dress.
"Thanks" Hayley said looking into the mirror at him before she smiled. "Not too many pregnant casket girls, I guess"
"I think you look lovely" Elijah argues making me smile a little, these two really had an unspoken thing between them. "Only I would-"
"I know, keep the freaky werewolf birthmark covered" she finished for him.
"Well, I don't suspect any of the riffraff here would dare lay a hand on you knowing that you're under the protection of my family, still we shouldn't take any chances" Elijah replied and I frowned knowing that Hayley's birthmark tied her to the werewolves in the bayou and put a heavy target on her back.
"All knocked up and nowhere to go" Hayley smiled as she turned and caressed the bump making me frown as I turned and walked away not wanting to hear anymore, I still couldn't believe that I couldn't experience the joys of pregnancy because much as I wished it could be true I feared that I never would, like the witches said this was a miracle conception and one that would probably never happen again.
"...you don't have to be Sherlock Holmes to know the obvious, our secret weapon has escaped"
"She wouldn't just leave, she knows the witches want her back" I heard Marcel argue with Nik as I headed towards the upstairs study.
"Her violin is missing, she may have left of her own volition" Elijah cut in walking into the room and I soon followed him in.
"What did you say to her in the attic?" Marcel asked turning to him. "She lied to my face so she could stay up there thinking that you'd help her control her magic, how do we know that you didn't take her?" I rolled my eyes at Marcel.
"I have no idea where Davina is or why she ran away" Elijah argued and I frowned as I thought back to last night, listening in on Hayley and Davina's conversation...she'd found out that Agnes was dead and that Marcel hadn't told her perhaps she figures that means she's safe and that's why she left...I knew that would come back to screw us. "Can I suggest you take a step back" Elijah added nodding to Marcel's position which was right up in his space and Marcel did as he was told but not without glaring. "I can assure you, I have absolutely no desire to see that child come into harm's way, she's suffered enough with this Harvest ritual nonsense"
"That child to whom you refer so affectionately is the most powerful witch in New Orleans, if she's fled what's to stop her from destroying us, in fact destroying all we've worked for?" Nik spoke up and I frowned since that wasn't really what's important right now. "No, if she's not a friend to this family then she is our enemy" I narrowed my eyes since she was a 16-year-old girl.
"She is a friend, Klaus" Marcel argued.
"Well let's hope so, lucky for you I know how to get her back" Nik replied and started walking for the door. "Follow my lead" he gestured for Marcel to follow and I let out a sigh already knowing this wasn't going to end well for anyone but Elijah held up his hand stilling Marcel from following.
"You know how Niklaus operates, if he perceives a threat he can become quite ruthless, this will not bode well for Davina"
"I'm not gonna let anybody lay a finger on her" Marcel agrees and I frown especially when Elijah turns towards me.
"Nor will I" Elijah says agreeing with Marcel while still looking at me. "You stay here Sophia, keep an eye on Hayley"
"Why, I'm the best person to rein in Nik" I argued glaring at him.
"Unfortunately that hasn't been the case of late, matter of fact your behavior lately is unbecoming and we could do without you and Niklaus together right now" he insisted before walking out with Marcel following him.
"What the hell does that mean?!" I exclaimed walking out after them but was ignored so I huffed and walked down into the courtyard, since if Elijah didn't want my help with Nik then let him suffer the consequences of that choice and quickly spotted Rebekah and Hayley looking through trunks of old dresses for the Casket Girls celebrations.
"So you are the reason she's run off" I heard Rebekah whispering as I approached them.
"Hey I was just telling her the truth, she's the one who realized they were just using her to keep their control over the witches" Hayley argued making me frown looking up at Nik on the balcony, the search party growing by the minute.
"Yeah well I've never been a fan of the boys club" Rebekah added looking up as well. "Just wait Elijah will join them and the 3 of them will be impossible"
"That ships already sailed Beks and I've been benched from Klaus patrol" I scoffed crossing my arms and I sat on one of the trunks.
"Used by the witches, lied to by Marcel, manipulated by Elijah, threatened by Klaus...she's like a modern day Casket Girl" Rebekah sighed and I frowned looking over at her.
"Are you talking about Davina, or yourself?" I asked her.
"Does it matter?" Beks asked turning towards me. "Either way, us girls have got to stick together" she added and I smiled looking up at the boys again, for once I could agree with my sister-in-law with that.
I left Hayley and Rebekah especially when the latter left somewhere and wandered up to the second level seeing Elijah, Marcel and Nik about to leave and couldn't help the useless feeling as I watched them go, as far as everything going on here I felt like the odd one out and it honestly made me miss the chaos of Mystic Falls since at least I was involved but I was still getting no calls or texts from my brothers and was seriously considering just leaving as it's clear I wasn't needed here.
I pulled my phone from my pocket figuring it doesn't hurt to keep trying and scrolled through my contacts stopping at Damon's and clicked on it placing it to my ear listening to it ring...and ring...ringing...'This mailbox is full'.
"Of course it is" I scoffed ending the call before I tried Stefan's but his just went straight to an automated message saying this number was now disconnected. "What the hell?" I asked myself since I haven't tried to call him but I never expected his phone to be disconnected since it was very unlike Stefan...I'm so done of this mediocre phone tag with my brothers, I scrolled through my contacts again and found Nik's pressing call but his too went straight to voicemail. "Men..." I rolled my eyes. "Nik, I'm tired of feeling useless, I'm going back to Mystic Falls to find out what the hell's going on with my brothers, just take care of Hayley and make sure she's safe and please...try hard not to kill anyone while I'm gone, I love you" I hung up then headed for our room to throw together a bag but stopped seeing Hayley walking through the courtyard with two vampires following her making me frown.
"I know Klaus told you to follow me but does it really mean you have to follow me to the bathroom?" I heard her complain turning to the two of them before her phone rang and she looked down at it. "Just give me two minutes, it's my gynecologist" I furrowed my brows since when the hell did she get a gynecologist especially after her last trip to a doctor ended in her almost getting killed which quickly led me to believe that it was a lie and so I walked down the stairs.
"Leave her with me, you two can go" I told them and they seemed to hesitate so I glared at them. "Leave, now!" they walked off with my warning and I waited for Hayley to come out of the garage which added to my suspicion as that definitely wasn't the bathroom so I leaned against the wall and pulled my hair away from my ear to help me hear.
"...you need to listen, everything is about to change Davina's on the loose" I frowned narrowing my eyes when I heard Sophie Deveraux's voice.
"Figured that out on your own huh, remind me again why I should give a damn?" Hayley asked her.
"I need something from you so that the witches can complete the Harvest" Sophie replied and I rolled my eyes for the audacity of these witches.
"On what planet would I help you witches get more power, all you've done is hex me left and right and impregnate with me with another woman's baby" Hayley exclaimed.
"You'll help me because if we don't complete the Harvest, our access to magic will fade for good, which doesn't bode well for your family" Sophie argued and my frown deepened.
"What do you know about my family?"
"You're from the Crescent Wolf bloodline, Marcel forced a witch to curse them so they'd be trapped in wolf form" Sophie replied and I raised an eye since was that really how Marcel got rid of the werewolves that once roamed this city.
"And I should keep listening to you because...?"
"Because my bloodline executed that curse, help me complete the Harvest and I'll undo the curse for you" I shook my head since there was no way Hayley could trust a word Sophie says, nothing good ever came from trusting witches.
"But what can I do?" Hayley asked and I rolled my eyes at her stupidity for even continuing to entertain this witch.
"I need to consecrate the remains of a powerful witch so I can absorb their magic, I know of one whose body was never found, her name is Celeste DuBois" my eyes widened as I recognized the name, she was an old lover of Elijah's...he'd told me about her once during the years that I had known him. "I believe you and she have a friend in common?"
"Elijah" Hayley said.
"Story goes that when she died, he buried her in a secret spot at her request, all you have to do is find out where" Hayley hangs up and sighs which I take my cue to walk in.
"I do hope that your not entertaining the idea of working with that witch" I spoke up making her jump and turn towards me. "You cannot trust a word Sophie says whether she's actually telling the truth or not"
"But what if she is telling the truth, it might be the only way to help my family" she argued and I glared at her.
"Just think carefully Hayley because if anything happens to that baby then I'll personally make sure your family remains fury for the rest of their lives" I remarked before walking away feeling the confliction taking hold since as much as I wanted to go to Mystic Falls if Hayley was on a suicide mission than I had to stay here and that really pissed me off considering Nik was distracted with this Davina mess so he couldn't exactly help while I took off meaning I was stuck here.
I walked out of the compound since to hell with what Elijah said, I slipped into the crowds pushing through the crowds of people all dancing and celebrating looking around for any signs of Nik, Elijah or Marcel...hell I was even hoping to come across Davina at this point if it meant getting this mess dealt with already.
"You look stressed doll, try some of this" I was stopped by some random guy stepping in front of me and pushing a jar towards me and from the smell coming from it I knew it was moonshine...New Orleans specialty.
"No thanks, I'm kind of busy" I stepped around him but he grabbed my arm.
"Come on doll, come and have some fun like a good Casket Girl" I turned to glare at him.
"I said no thanks, no kindly remove your hand before I remove it myself"
"Don't be like that, this is a party!" I grabbed his arm and turned him around bending it behind his back pulling his head back with my other hand.
"When a lady says no, she means no"
"Let go of me you crazy bitch!" he exclaims which only angers me further and I let him go but turned him around and pushed him into an alley holding his throat.
"What you don't like me now, you wanted me to have some fun with you...this is me having fun" I replied before letting my eyes change and his widened as his body flooded with fear as I smirked showing off my fangs. "Don't scream but this is going to hurt" I compelled him before smiling and moved forward sinking my fangs into the side of his throat drinking down the warm blood which was so much better than blood bags which is all we've been feeding on lately.
"Ah you two look rather cozy" I heard the unmistakable voice of my husband which made me pull my lips away from the guys neck turning back towards the festivities.
"Hardly, I was just telling Elijah how we're wasting our time" Marcel's voice replied and I frowned rolling my eyes as I turned back to my meal as he stared blankly ahead, his body shaking.
"You don't like festivals?" Nik asked him.
"I don't see why not?" Rebekah suddenly joined them getting my attention so I sighed and met the eyes of the guy.
"Forget this happened but never again hit on a girl after she's said no" I compelled him before I let him go walking out of the alley towards where I heard them talking and saw them gathering in the middle of the street.
"Sister, come to help us find our stray?" Nik asked looking at Rebekah right as I walked up stopping beside Bekah. "And you brought my wife" I rolled my eyes since she didn't bring me.
"We can't your secret weapon get in the wrong hands, can we?" Rebekah answered and Elijah turned to share a look with Niklaus.
"For the record, we are moments away from retrieving her" Nik added smirking at us.
"I recognize that tone of voice Niklaus, clearly you have some diabolical machination, what is it?" Elijah asked him making me roll my eyes especially when Nik smirked and walked away from us heading towards a band group towards a young teenager.
"Timothy, might I have a word?" I raised an eye at Nik wondering why he was talking to a kid, I frowned already having a bad feeling about this turning my head and shared a look with Rebekah. "Joshua, my most disappointing minion. I suspected you wouldn't answer the call were it from me" I turned back to Nik seeing him now on the phone.
"Klaus hey, what up?" Josh's voice greeted back making my frown deepen. "Guess what, I just moved to Turkey, weirdly they don't eat turkey here go figure"
"You're lying, in fact Marcel and I were just chatting about your failed double agent status and we've surmised that you're likely still in town and in the company of a friend...a young, angry witch"
"Nope, nope no witches here, totally digging Turkey though" Josh replied stuttering nervously clearly lying through his teeth.
"Are you really going to leave Davina's fiddler soul mate, Timothy alone with me?" Nik argued with a smirk. "Oh Josh, what would she think of that...I assure you I just wanna talk to her, Tim and I will be at the compound I really do hope she comes home soon" he hangs up and I share another look with Rebekah before nodding my head at her knowing she was against the boys this time and I was with her since I just knew this wasn't going to end well and so we left the boys blending into the crowds.
It didn't take us long to track down Davina seeing as Nik had put her on a war path and the fact that she was heading straight for the compound and we weren't the only ones following her since just as we were about to approach her Josh showed up grabbing her and pulling her to the side.
"Hey it's just me, don't like melt me" Josh quickly said before she even thought of firing a spell at him.
"What are you doing, you're supposed to be hidden?" Davina asked him.
"Yeah so are you remember but you're kind of working that whole 'girl on a mission' look that makes me nervous, are you sure that you really want to mess with like the baddest dude in all of history?"
"He messed with me when he took Tim, I'll kill him...all of them" I raised my eyes at the little witch since she seemed to be too big for her boots. .
"Davina, Originals can't be killed" Josh protested.
"Maybe they can, I have so much power I've never felt anything like it before, it's growing, gathering inside me, I'm strong Josh-"
"If you kill them, then-" Josh cut her off but stopped and I scoffed rolling my eyes.
"What?" Davina urged him to continue but Josh let out a sigh.
"If you're gonna do it, don't hold back you hit them with all you got" he tells her and I roll my eyes again since Davina has no idea that if she does this she'll be killing her friends, Marcel and Josh was clearly not telling her, when Davina leaves Rebekah move forward as Josh begins to leave and he jumps as we startle him from appearing suddenly.
"That was very sweet, not telling Davina that if she kills Klaus, you die too, very noble" Rebekah smirks crossing her arms while I just glare at the young vampire.
"Problem is she goes after my husband, she'll be the one who ends up dead" I added since I never betted against Nik and not to mention she'll have me to deal with. "A very unnecessary end to an already tragic story"
"Perhaps you'd like to help us help her" Rebekah added stepping towards him and he very much reluctantly agreed but we all wanted the same thing here, our loved ones alive and this mess dealt with with no one dying so we headed to the compound.
"How, by threatening my friend?"
"Actually, that was my idea. Apologies. I've been known to go too far to make a point, But I do always get results" Nik replied answering Davina's question and I rolled my eyes since he really needed to learn how to filter his mouth.
"You pretend to be so confident, but I know the truth. You're afraid everyone can see what you really are, an animal" she retaliates right as Rebekah and I stood in waiting but the moment she started to use magic that bought Nik to his knees by breaking them and he screamed out which had me reacting but Rebekah grabbed my arm stopping me. "A beast" I glared towards the direction of the little witch as she easily knocks away Marcel and Elijah while still torturing Nik by breaking his bones like he was turning into his wolf form. "Why don't you show us your real face?" Nik continued to scream out as she brought out his hybrid face leaving me to widen my eyes. "That's enough of you" she added twisting her hand and I listened to Nik's neck snap before he slumped to the floor.
"Davina, you don't have to do this" Elijah spoke up trying to be the voice of reason as always.
"You-" she turned her glare onto him. "You looked me in the eyes and lied to my face, pretended you wanted to help me-"
"Listen to me-"
"You call yourself the noble one but you're a killer just like your brother" she cut him off and used her magic to lift Elijah up. "For 1,000 years, you've fed on innocent blood...why don't you choke on it?" she added before Elijah began to choke up blood, it pouring out of his mouth before he too falls to the ground and I turn to Rebekah starting to fell conflicted but she was still holding onto my arm and focused on the sight in front of us especially seeing as Davina turns to face Marcel as he gets to his face. "And you...I trusted you, I loved you but you were just using me to stay in power, you don't care about me"
"You're wrong"
"When you lost to Klaus, you handed me over like some trophy maybe I should boil you in bronze" Davina argued close to tears.
"I care, I took you in like you were my own blood" Rebekah finally let go of my arm and sped forward stabbing Marcel through the chest and he falls over.
"Come on now luv, don't tell me you were falling for that" Rebekah speaks up as Davina looks at her. "Isn't it time for us girls to have a chat?" I sighed and walked out which drew Davina's eyes and she gave me an untrustworthy look so I held up my hands in surrender signaling that I wasn't here to hurt her. "Now, that is impressive and well-deserved, in my opinion" Rebekah points out looking around at all the boys out cold. "Now, before you turn on us, I have a surprise for you" I turned to Beks as Josh enters the courtyard.
"Josh, what are you doing, get out of here" Davina exclaims at the sight of him but Rebekah speeds over and grabs Josh by the throat.
"What are you doing?" Josh chokes out.
"Now if I were Klaus I would rip Josh's head from his neck, feed it to a nightwalker and that would be the end of your friend" Rebekah says looking at Davina before she lets Josh go. "But hurting people is such a boyish thing to do, like how Klaus compelled your fiddler on the roof" we all looked up at where Timothy was sitting perched on a beam. "And while I am many things I'm certainly not my brother" Beks adds while I look up at Tim again.
"It's ok, Timothy you can come down, no one is gonna hurt you" I told him.
"He told me I couldn't climb down off this beam" Tim argued and I rolled my eyes since the answer was simple and an easy work around given Nik is like always not careful with his wording.
"Then don't climb, silly" I told him looking at Rebekah. "Are we the only smart ones in the room?" I asked her before looking back up at Tim. "Jump" I told him and he took a deep breath before jumping down right into Rebekah's arms as she sped over there to catch him before putting him down and Tim goes straight to Davina.
"Davina, how did you do all that, how did I even get here?" he asked her and I let out a sigh since clearly he had some things to learn about our world.
"I'll explain everything I promise" Davina tells him before turning to me and Rebekah. "Why are you doing this?"
"Seems to us that you're the one holding all the cards but you don't know who to trust" Rebekah replies as I nod my head.
"We've just proven that you can trust us"
"Now we'd like to show you one more thing, won't take long you can bring your friends" Rebekah adds before she takes Davina, Tim and Josh and I to some underground place and even my eyes widened at the many vampires all desiccated and rotting in the walls and buried in bricks.
"Oh don't worry, they're not really dead just really hungry...and I'm not helping" I heard Josh say making me turn to see Tim looking fearfully at a few of the hungry vampires reaching out from their holes.
"You think" I remarked clapping Josh on the shoulder before turning to Tim. "It's okay Tim, they can't hurt you" I added before walking further in.
"You think my brother Nik is awful, Marcel learned from the best...this is how he treats his so-called friends who betray him, most of what these poor souls did is no worse than what Josh did" she paused next to one of the vampires. "Take Thierry, for example" she pointed at him and my eyes widened since I didn't even recognize him. "He was Marcel's most trusted friend, Klaus tricked him into breaking one of Marcel's rules, Marcel knows this and yet he keeps Thierry locked in here day after day, suffering"
"This is insane" Tim spoke up sounding confused and shocked.
"Why are you telling me this?"
"Because you need to know who you're dealing with, who you can trust" Rebekah told her and she looked around at all the vampires again.
"Hey, hey it's gonna be ok, I mean you're gonna be all right" Tim spoke up and walked towards her with a bottle of water, I raised my eyes at his encouraging little speech. "Here, drink something" he handed it to her and she took a sip from it.
"Davina, both you and I have been lied to and taken advantage of by Marcel and Klaus, maybe together we can get a little payback" Rebekah continues but is cut off when Tim starts coughing and falls to his knees.
"Tim?" Davina asks kneeling down beside him as he continues to cough and gag.
"It was Klaus he made me do it, I didn't even know what I was doing until I made you-" he trailed off and I frowned narrowing my eyes wondering what the hell Niklaus has done now.
"Made her what?" I snapped to get an answer from him after he trailed off and he looked up at me before he turned and met Davina's eyes again.
"Drink" he breathed out and my eyes widened when I realized.
"Tim?" Davina asked still confused especially when Tim gagged again.
"Klaus poisoned the water" I said and they all turned to look at me as Tim fell back almost going still, the poison taking its affect.
"Tim?" Davina asked him again before she began choking as well.
"Davina...oh no" Josh exclaimed and I glared at the scene as she laid down next to the young boy, Rebekah was the first to shake herself out of the shock and quickly pulled out her phone calling Nik since if he did this then he was gonna tell us how to fix it.
"Feed her your blood, Josh" I told him kneeling down next to Tim and bit into my wrist forcing it to the boy's lips but he was still and wasn't taking it in.
"Rebekah, where are you?" I heard Nik's voice and looked up with a glare towards Rebekah's phone.
"I'm with Davina and she's dying because of your treachery" she told him.
"Well, I tried to talk to her out of respect for Marcel but she made it quite clear she is not our friend, my apologies is you thought she was yours"
"Just tell me how to cure her, vampire blood isn't working" Rebekah demanded.
"No it wouldn't" he replied and I could hear the smirk in his voice. "You see, the poison I compelled Timothy to feed her is quite potent it's just a matter of time for her"
"For both of them, you diabolical bastard they're children we could've dealt with her fairly" Rebekah snapped at him while I gave up trying to feed Tim my blood since it wasn't going to work.
"There is no dealing with those who threaten us, Davina sealed her fate when she stood against me, this was her choice not mine" he replied before hanging up and I couldn't believe this, Nik's done some things but I never thought he'd sink this low to murder innocent children and I felt a single tear slip out as the life left the two teenagers but it wasn't long before I heard my phone ringing and I looked down seeing 'Nik' flashing, I glared at the phone and debated ignoring it but answered it.
"What do you want?" I snapped at him earning a look from Rebekah.
"Davina will live, Marcel double crossed me...bring her home love" he replied before hanging up and I pulled the phone away from my ear glaring down at it right as Davina revives, gasping and immediately she turns to Tim's body.
"Tim...Tim...Tim, Tim wake up, Tim please wake up" she cried trying to shake his shoulders to wake him up. "Open your eyes, no, no please wake up, please don't leave me alone" she continued to cry until Josh pulled her away into a hug and she broke down in sobs.
I stood up looking down at the girl crying her eyes out before I shook my head and turned walking out needing fresh air as I felt the suffocating loss and even felt a few tears slip out of my eyes for the clear unnecessary loss of life and the betrayal that Nik would do this since I never imagined he'd stoop this low to murder children especially when we had our own on the way, did he have no empathy for life...was he so lost and I'd been too blind to see it.
It wasn't long before I heard movement behind me and was Rebekah walking out with Davina in her arms passed out from clear exhaustion of crying and from the shock of everything and when her eyes met mine I found myself unable to hold it as I felt partially responsible because I hadn't seen Nik's plan...maybe Elijah was right and I'd been blind to his behavior wanting to see something that wasn't there and soon just found myself following Rebekah as she carries a sleeping Davina into the courtyard and Marcel rushes over once he sees her.
"Is she ok?" he asks Rebekah.
"She's devastated and exhausted, where's her room?" Rebekah asks him back.
" No I got her" Marcel argues and tries to take her but Rebekah moves back. "I got her" he insists and reluctantly Beks hands Davina over to him before turning her eyes to Niklaus as Marcel walks away carrying Davina to her room before she too walks away leaving me with my husband and he watches her go before he turns towards me, I turn my head and start walking towards our room feeling him behind me as I walked towards our closet grabbing and bag and started throwing clothes in it.
"Where do you think your going?" he had the balls to demand.
"I'm leaving, I'm gonna stay out at the Plantation House because I need a break from all this-" I replied then looked up at him. "From you"
"From me?" I narrowed my eyes at him.
"You murdered a child today, do you have any idea what that means or how it felt to be there...of course you don't because you don't care, about anyone"
"That's absurd"
"Don't lie to me Niklaus!" I snapped and his eyes narrowed at the fact I used his full name. "You're about to be a father, what if that had been our child...how would you have felt then"
"That's different"
"How is that any different!?" I yelled at him. "That boy was someone's son, someone's child and you murdered him in cold blood, that's not okay Nik!"
"Sophia-" he tried to step towards me.
"No!" I yelled and he froze in his spot. "I can't even look at you right now" I added picking up the bag looking at him for a second before I walked out but paused at the door. "Don't come after me" I told him before continuing on my way leaving him behind and to be honest this felt like the last time.
I walked into the garage approaching my car which had been left untouched pretty much this whole time but just as I reached for the handle I stopped feeling the tears start pooling from my eyes as I dropped to the ground pulling my knees to my chest feeling the darkness of all this, the suffocating feeling of knowing that I was alone...
I had no one left now and I had no one to blame but myself since I'd chosen to forgive Nik only to get hurt again...something was clearly broken between us because this kept happening and it was my own damn fault for being so trusting...I keep telling myself not to repeat the same cycles but I can't help it...because I'm broken too...I always have been and always will.
