Note: Once again, Spooky Month is here. That means Halloween is coming up, and trick-or-treaters will likely be waiting for candy at your doorstep when that day comes. Until then, there will be new stories published and new chapters added to certain stories. Even the stories you aren't following will be updated, though some could be rewritten. As for this story, a new chapter will be added. Though, whether or not it will have spooky themes will be shown in the chapter.

Now that I've said that, it's time for chapter twenty-two.

Chapter 22: Doomed II

While working in the lab at night, Jeremy decided to look through the data of the Sectors. The Lyoko Warriors could travel through them without much trouble, it was the newer two that was a problem. Given how the Fire Sector slowly drained those who were Virtualized of their life points, it seemed necessary to make their avatars fireproof. As for the other new Sector, it did not cause any damage to anyone as they traveled through it. However, there were still monsters underwater, considering that anyone who was localized had to dive in order to see them. Not only that, but it was hard to tell whether or not the second new Sector had a connection to the Digital Sea, which made it all the more dangerous.

Turning the computer off, Jeremy began to write down the code he had written for the vehicles the Lyoko Warriors used on Lyoko. It had been a while since they had used them, so it didn't seem like a bad idea to put them back in the supercomputer. He was even considering bringing the Skidbladnir back in case X.A.N.A began using other supercomputers to try and take over the world again. If a Replika was made, then traveling through the Digital Sea was necessary. The Skid would have to be recoded from scratch and updated to incorporate the entire team, including the away team. Doing so would make shutting down X.A.N.A's plans foe world domination easier.

As he finished writing down the codes, Jeremy decided to leave the lab and head back to Wagstaff before morning. By tomorrow, he hoped to test out each code in order to see if they would work. If they didn't, then the spectacled blonde would keep working. No matter what happens, he needed to give his teammates a boost in battle. Even if the teen couldn't improve on the Skid's original code, he could still have the team use it again. After all, there had to be a way to stop X.A.N.A outside of deactivating the Towers he took control of and fighting his monsters.

The next day, Jeremy was in the library with his teammates. He had brought his folder with him, so that he could show everyone the codes he had written down. Each code was for the vehicles that the Lyoko Warriors had used before, albeit with some extra data added. While the others were surprised, they wondered if this was all they would be using for the next mission. Jeremy didn't give a direct answer, but he wanted to surprise everyone. After all, his main focus was to speed up progress on Lyoko.

"Okay, you've gathered the codes for the Overbike and Overboard, but are we sure they'll work on the new supercomputer?" Yumi asked.

"That's a good question." Ulrich spoke. "Everything's changed on Lyoko, Jeremy. With the new Sectors and monsters, X.A.N.A's working harder than before to keep us off our game."

"With that in mind, I've given the vehicles some additional code to help speed up the missions we take." Jeremy said. "If they move too quickly, then I'll have to work on them again."

"That's a priority, Jeremy." Aelita said. "However, I'm curious about a file that was included after the file for the Overbike. What could it be for?"

"It's a ship meant for diving under the waters of the new Sector." The spectacled blonde said. "However, you have to occasionally leave it to fight X.A.N.A's monsters and access the Tower."

"So, it's like a crappy version of the Skid?" Odd asked.

"The what?" A voice rang out.

Taking their eyes off the files, the Lyoko Warriors saw Tina, Gene and Louise standing near the table. No one had been paying attention to their surroundings, which made the arrival of the Belcher kids a surprise. There was no doubt that they were listening to the conversation. If not, then the siblings entered the library right in the middle of the conversation. With the Belchers now in the room, Jeremy spoke to them.

"The Skidbladnir was a sub we used on Lyoko to access the Digital Sea." Jeremy said. "It was even our means of destroying the Replikas X.A.N.A made, so that he couldn't infect supercomputers all around the world."

"Lyoko has vehicles?" Tina asked.

"Why didn't you tell us before we started going there and getting our asses kicked in order to save the world?!" Louise asked.

"Language!" Mr. Ambrose sternly said.

"With the three of you joining us after being Virtualized, things were going better than before." Aelita said. "Now that there are new Sectors, bringing back the vehicles is necessary."

"As well as the new one Jeremy was talking about." Odd said. "It's for that new Sector I've been hearing about."

"I'd like to see it, too!" Gene said.

"We'll head to the factory together after school." Jeremy said. "Head to your classes. I'll be testing out the codes on my laptop."

The Belcher kids left the library, leaving the Lyoko Warriors by themselves. Once the school day began, the team split up to tutor the children they were assigned to help out. All throughout the day, there was no problem, not even a complaint from the children who were in need of tutoring. With that in mind, the Lyoko Warriors and their away team were free to head to the factory. Jeremy was particularly eager to bring the vehicles back after so long. Hopefully, nothing went wrong when it was time to test them.

Inside the lab, the Lyoko Warriors were ready to be Virtualized as part of Jeremy's test. The Belcher siblings had gathered Henry, Jimmy Junior and Zeke, which made the team much more complete. While Tina, Gene, and Louise weren't inside the Scanners, they would be Virtualized after Aelita, Ulrich, Yumi, Odd, and William. Sissi was standing near the supercomputer, hoping that she wouldn't be sent to Lyoko right away. She just had a bad feeling about the whole thing. It felt like everything would fall apart like how it did when Jeremy tried to Virtualize everyone in the Fire Sector for the first time.

After activating the Scanners, Jeremy watched the screen, wanting to see if this would work. Just before he Virtualized his teammates, he entered the code for the new vehicle, so that they would arrive to Lyoko inside of it. Once everything was ready, the ship materialized in the new Sector, meaning that it was a success. However, by checking inside the ship, Jeremy saw that only Aelita had arrived in it. This was strange, but he assumed that Ulrich and the others would arrive shortly after. But, they were all Virtualized at the same time, which meant that they would arrive in the Sector together.

"Jeremy, where is everyone?" Aelita's voice came out of the headset.

"They should be with you." Jeremy spoke. "I'm not sure why they didn't arrive."

"They aren't here." The pink-haired teen spoke. "I don't see any of them being materialized. Jeremy, I think they're gone!"

Upon hearing that, Jeremy's eyes widened. His teammates had disappeared again! While Aelita had arrived on Lyoko, Ulrich, Yumi, Odd and William did not. He wanted to Virtualize the rest of the team, but he decided against it, not wanting to risk everyone disappearing. For now, the spectacled blonde had to bring Aelita back to Earth and investigate Lyoko. Wherever the others ended up, they needed to be found, so that nothing bad happened to them.

Feeling himself hit the ground, Odd let out a pained groan. He began to stand up, ignoring the pain rushing through his body. As the blonde did so, he could hear music that sounded like someone trying to recreate their favorite heavy metal band on a synthesizer. Looking at his surroundings, the teen noticed that he wasn't on Lyoko, but rather in an area with 3D structures and pixelated monsters. In his hand was a pistol that looked 3D-rendered, but was a digitized version of a toy gun. Taking all of this in, Odd knew exactly where he ended up: a DOOM game.

"Oh no," Odd spoke, "not again!"

Back in the lab, Jeremy had managed to bring Aelita out of Lyoko. He searched through the Sectors after this, hoping to find the others. There was no sign of them anywhere, not even in the Digital Sea. As such, the spectacled blonde checked the code he had used for the ship. None of it was corrupted, but that made it worse. Only Aelita had managed to be Virtualized while Ulrich, Yumi, Odd and William had vanished. Wherever they were, Jeremy needed to find them.

"Nothing on Lyoko." Jeremy spoke. "This doesn't make sense! I entered the code correctly, so everyone should have arrived on the ship together!"

"Are you sure that they didn't end up in a different country?" Jimmy Junior asked.

"That's not how the Scanners work." Henry said. "The only thing they can do is Virtualize people and materialize them back to Earth."

"Except for that one time." Louise said. "One attempt to Virtualize us in the Fire Sector lead to the others getting stuck in an old FPS game."

"I completely forgot the name of that one!" Gene spoke.

"DOOM, Gene." Tina said. "It's called DOOM."

"Is it not possible they could have ended up there again, Jeremy?" Aelita asked.

"Could be." Jeremy said. "We should probably check."

Exiting out of LyokoLand, Jeremy went to the supercomputer's library of games. Upon finding DOOM, he entered it and decided to play through it in order to find the others. The spectacled blonde went through each level, only to find no sign of his teammates. Once he reached the third episode Inferno, he had a gut feeling Ulrich and the others were trapped somewhere. While the teen hoped for that to be true, it wasn't. The others were nowhere to be found, not even in the final level.

The door to the lab came open, causing everyone (minus Jeremy) to turn around. Standing in the doorway were Bob and Linda, who had presumably come because they wondered where the Hell their kids were. Knowing that they were around for the MS-DOS PC, Louise figured that they could help out. After all, if anyone could play through DOOM, it would be the Belcher parents.

"Where have you kids been?!" Linda spoke. "It's almost four!"

"A dilemma's going on." Louise said.

"Like what?" Bob asked.

"The Virtualization process has gone haywire, teleporting Ulrich, Yumi, Odd and William to somewhere other than Lyoko." Aelita said.

"Makes sense." Linda said. "Where could they have ended up?"

"We thought they ended up in DOOM, but that doesn't appear to be the case." Henry said.

Jeremy exited DOOM and let out a sigh of sadness. He had not managed to find his friends, and it seemed like they were gone forever. Unless a miracle happened, the Lyoko Warriors were stuck. X.A.N.A would gain an advantage over the team from this point onward.

"Hello?" Yumi's voice came out of the headset. "Is anyone there?"

"Yumi?" Jeremy spoke into the headset.

"Jeremy?" Her voice spoke. "Jeremy, where am I?"

"I thought that you were in DOOM." He said. "Could you have ended up somewhere else? What are your surroundings?"

"I'm in a sewer system of some kind." The brunette stated. "It's pretty dark in here, but there are enemies all around me. There are plenty of them, but it's nothing I can't handle! Hey, check it out! I found something!"

Listening closely, Jeremy could hear the sound of a gun being cocked. Yumi had picked up a weapon of some kind, but he couldn't tell what it looked like. There was the sound of a monster being alerted to the brunette's presence, which was followed by what sounded like a shotgun being fired and reloaded. It wasn't the sound of a normal shotgun, but one with two barrels. Hearing that, Jeremy could tell that his teammates had ended up in a DOOM game, but it wasn't the one he had played. Could the others have been sent to an expansion pack with new levels and weapons?

"What's going on, Jeremy?" Tina asked.

"Yumi told me that she's moving through an underground area, fighting through enemies." Jeremy stated. "In the process, she picked up a weapon, and just fired it at a monster. It appears to be a double-barreled shotgun."

"That doesn't sound like DOOM." Gene said.

"Wait, Jeremy, check the game library on DOS!" Henry said.

Searching through DOS, Jeremy went to the list of games. He then went through the list, which looked the same as it did before. That was until the spectacled blonde reached the games that began with D. At first, he expected DOOM to be the only one listed under that letter. However, just below it was a title that was wedged between D and E. It was something Jeremy didn't notice prior to the mission, but it was there in clear and present letters: DOOM II: Hell on Earth.

"They've been sent to the second DOOM game!" Jeremy gasped.

"There's more than one?" Louise asked. "How many games in that series are there?!"

"Six." Henry said. "Many would consider that only five games matter, because DOOM 3 has a divisive reputation."

"Yeah, that one was never good." Linda spoke.

Approaching the supercomputer, Bob watched as Jeremy entered DOOM II. The spectacled blonde went through the opening menu, intent on getting to his friends as quickly as possible. He was greeted by the first level, where a few zombies were standing around, oblivious to his presence. Without hesitation, the teen shot at them with the pistol, killing them in the process. Before he could step off of the platform he was on, he went to an area that held a chainsaw. Upon picking it up, Jeremy heard the familiar revving of the saw.

"That should give you some extra power." Bob spoke.

"Hopefully so, Mr. Belcher." Jeremy said. "We have to keep moving, because the others are in danger!"

Within DOOM II, Yumi had been going through each level, doing her hardest to find Ulrich, Odd and William. In the process, she had fought new enemies, picked up new weapons, and discovered secret areas. One level had the brunette fighting against obese monstrosities with flamethrowers on each arm and mechanical spider-like creatures that wielded plasma rifles. She barely made it out of that one alive, so she grabbed whatever health items were available. With that out of the way, the Japanese teen hit the switch that would take her to the next level. Hopefully, it would be easier.

Upon arriving in the next level, Yumi saw three marines standing around, as if taking a look at their surroundings.

"Hello?" She spoke.

"Yumi?" Ulrich's voice rang out.

"Boy, am I glad to find you guys!" Yumi said. "I swear, this game has gotten crazier since the last time we ended up in it!"

"I think this might be a sequel." Odd spoke.

"No doubt." William said. "But, where do we go first?"

"We should try the door in front of us." Ulrich said.

"Hold on, don't do anything yet!" A voice called out.

"Jeremy, is that you?" Yumi asked.

"Yes." Jeremy responded. "Don't do anything until I get to you, because I'm a few levels behind!"

"We won't do anything, Jeremy!" Odd said. "Get here fast, though!"

Back in the lab, Jeremy and Bob were playing through the game while everyone watched. So far, they had made it to the fifth level, which meant that they needed to get through a few more before they reached the others. Judging by the banter he heard, Jeremy could tell that they weren't far from him. The music in the background was from the eighth level, so the spectacled blonde knew he had to get through the next few levels to reach his friends. Bob, on the other hand, was there to give the teen some tips, having played DOOM and DOOM II when he was younger.

When he reached the eighth level, Jeremy saw a few marines standing together. It wasn't hard to determine that they were Ulrich and the others. Since he was with his friends again, they went through the level together. Ulrich and William were in charge of fighting the enemies while Odd went to pick up certain items and weapons. As for Yumi, she checked each area for enemies, letting the others know what they were about to face. Nonetheless, they were able to complete level 8 and progress to the next one.

For the next few levels, the Lyoko Warriors who were trapped in DOOM II did not have any problems. With Jeremy providing extra firepower, the game was much more of a breeze. Sure, they had to fight against the occasional Hell Knight or chaingun-wielding zombie, but each enemy was easier to kill as a team. Bob couldn't help but be amazed by their progress. He had only played a few levels of both DOOM games, so he didn't make it all the way through. Despite that, the Belcher father liked the feeling of nostalgia, likening it to making a monumental burger sale at his restaurant.

On level 11, everything seemed alright. Jeremy walked through it with the others, killing the occasional zombie or demon. It was as if nothing could stop them from blitzing through the game and returning to the real world. However, with every level came a new challenge, and each was more difficult than the last. No one knew it, but they were about to face a deadly enemy. This one was considered to be one of the worst ones in the entire game.

Upon reaching the area containing a plasma rifle, Jeremy heard a strange noise. It sounded like either a pleasured moan or an evil laugh. He couldn't tell what creature it belonged to, though Bob gasped. The restauranteur had faced this beast when he originally played the game. By listening more carefully, he knew that he wasn't mistaken. It was a powerful enemy and the Lyoko Warriors trapped in the game were about to face it.

"Oh crap!" Bob spoke. "Jeremy, hand me the headset!"

Hearing the dread in Bob's voice, Jeremy took off the headset and gave it to him.

"You guys haven't entered the room with the plasma rifle yet, have you?" Bob spoke into the headset.

"Hi, Mr. Belcher!" Odd greeted. "We haven't entered that room yet. We're trying to figure out what that noise is."

"You're going to regret being curious," the restauranteur said, "because that noise is coming from one of the most powerful monsters in the game! It's called the Arch-Vile! It can launch you into the air with its flame and resurrect monsters you just killed! I'll go in and try to weaken it for you!"

With Jeremy at the computer, he understood that the dreaded Arch-Vile needed to be slain as quickly as possible. He entered the room, only to be greeted by the monster's high-pitched alert sound. The spectacled blonde used the super shotgun on it, but only managed to hit it two times. However, a bolt of plasma also hit the infamous creature, though it wasn't fired by him. Yumi was the one to fire plasma at the Arch-Vile, Jeremy continuing to use the super shotgun on it. In no time, they took down the beast and rejoined their teammates.

"That was close!" Yumi's voice came out of the headset.

"Yes, but we need to be careful from this point onward." Bob spoke into it. "Games like this get harder the more you go through them and there are plenty of tricks and hazards awaiting you at every corner!"

Within DOOM II, Ulrich, Yumi, Odd and William agreed to stay together as they traveled through the remaining levels of the game. If they got separated, them they would be vulnerable to an onslaught courtesy of the monsters lurking around. This wasn't like Lyoko, where running out of life points means returning to Earth. Losing life points in this game meant that they would die, not having the same advantage as the player. No other options for escape were available. The only way out was to win and they needed to do so in order to see another day in the real world.

After the encounter with the Arch-Vile, Jeremy continued to play through the game with Bob giving him some advice. He went through level after level, intent on reaching the end. The spectacled blonde even played through the two secret levels that were based on Wolfenstein 3D, partially because secret levels and locations in games were something that interested him. Once those were out of the way, the teen continued on through DOOM II with the Lyoko Warriors who were stuck in the game. They did not suffer a single casualty during all of this, as their teamwork prevented them from being slaughtered by the monsters. As long as they were together, nothing could stop them.

In no time, Jeremy had reached the final level, which featured the encounter with the Icon of Sin. Knowing that there was a massive battle awaiting the Lyoko Warriors, Bob wanted them to grab whatever weapons they needed more ammo for. Compared to the player, it was hard to tell how much ammo the other players had. Having that in mind, Jeremy stood back and let the others pick up the weapons they would need for the final battle. Once they gathered what they needed, the Lyoko Warriors followed the spectacled blonde through the teleportation square.

Upon being greeted by the Icon of Sin's demonic voice, Jeremy knew that the battle had only just begun. It began to shoot out cubes that could summon enemies. He fired at said cubes, but only the enemies that were spawned could be harmed. As such, the spectacled blonde waited for an enemy to spawn so he could shoot at it. The Icon of Sin kept on shooting the cubes, making dealing with the enemies more difficult. Jeremy couldn't fight them all on his own.

"We'll deal with the enemies!" Ulrich spoke. "Try to take that thing down, Jeremy!"

"Alright, but I'm not sure how to hurt it." Jeremy spoke into the headset.

"You have to aim for the brain and fire rockets at it." Bob said. "If you have the non-clipping cheat, then you can enter the wall and shoot at its weak spot."

"I prefer to play the honest way instead of using cheat codes." The spectacled blonde said.

Approaching the pillar that stood between him and the Icon of Sin, Jeremy carefully stepped on it, then began to fire his rocket launcher. Once he was lifted up, he waited for the right moment and fired again. The spectacled blonde hit the brain of the giant monster, causing it to let out a scream of pain. It was hurt, but there was a long way to go before it could die. More rockets needed to be fired, but the pillar needed to fall and rise again. If Jeremy couldn't defeat the Icon of Sin, then the others would die in the game and the Lyoko Warriors would be down several members.

Once the pillar fell, Jeremy remained where he was at, firing at the occasional enemy that came his way. As it rose, the spectacled blonde waited until the right moment to fire another rocket. When he did so, it hit the Icon of Sin's brain, causing it to let out another pained scream. Ulrich and the others were still fighting off the monsters that were spawned, but they couldn't keep it up for much longer. Jeremy needed to hurry, because time was running out. If there was a faster way to defeat the Icon of Sin, then he needed to find it.

Using the rocket launcher to wound the Icon of Sin again, Jeremy knew that the boss likely had a lot of health left. It felt like nothing he did was working. The spectacled blonde was about to give up in frustration, until one of his teammates approached him. He couldn't tell who it was, but he had no time to guess.

"C'mon, Einstein, let's mash that demon's potatoes!" Odd's voice came out of the headset.

"Okay Odd, thanks for that strange line!" Jeremy said.

With Odd by his side, Jeremy hoped that this would be enough to finish the Icon of Sin off. The two fired rockets at the massive beast, hitting it in its brain area. In no time, it let out a pained moan as explosions went off on the wall the creature was attached to. By combining their might, Jeremy and Odd had finally slain the powerful demon in front of them. This ended the level and the game by extension. Hopefully, the others would be brought back to Earth shortly.

After Doom II reached its ending, four of the Scanners opened up. Once they were open, Ulrich, Yumi, Odd and William stepped out, happy to be back on Earth. With his teammates back, Jeremy exited the game and turned off the supercomputer for the time being. He would get back to work on the new files once everyone had left, though he put that aside for now. For the time being, the spectacled blonde would have to send the others away.

"Since we're all together again, I'll try to fix the files so that we stop being sent to video games instead of Lyoko." Jeremy said.

"That should be a priority from now on, Einstein." Ulrich said.

"Yeah, I wouldn't want to end up in Jazz Jackrabbit after going through the Virtualization process." Aelita spoke.

"Even if it doesn't work right, could you at least test it out on an inanimate object and not a person?" Tina asked.

"I'll get to work on it later." Jeremy said. "Now, let's leave before something bad happens."

"Yeah." Linda spoke. "Besides, it's dinner time at our place."

With everything out of the way, the Lyoko Warriors and the away team left the factory to go their separate ways for the time being. Jeremy would have to return to the building later, but he wanted to wait until it was night. If the spectacled blonde went back to it when it was still dusk, someone would get suspicious. For now, everyone needed to eat and get some rest. By tomorrow, more work would be done on the supercomputer. Hopefully, the code for each vehicle would work from that point onward, considering how progress needed to speed up on Lyoko.

Note: You just can't get enough DOOM, considering how iconic the franchise is. Can Jeremy get the codes for each vehicle to work properly? What is X.A.N.A planning next? Is there something else to the mysterious new Sector? Will the Skidbladnir make its grand return to Lyoko? Who will get to use it?

Until next time, guys, this is ElectricWizard99, signing off. Peace! Oh & also, have a Happy Halloween!
