Harry stepped back through the shimmering portal, returning to the front door of Jocelyn's apartment. The vibrant cityscape of New York greeted him, a stark contrast to the divine realm of Olympus.

Harry took a moment to center herself before re-entering the apartment. The familiar sounds of Jocelyn and Clary talking warmly greeted her as she stepped inside.

Clary's eyes lit up as she saw Harry. "You're back! How did it go with your mom?"

Harry smiled, feeling a sense of peace and acceptance. "It went well. She's given me her blessing to stay with you. And has asked that I stay until the beginning of August"

Jocelyn nodded, her eyes reflecting a mix of relief and happiness. "We're glad to have you here, Harry. Now, I need you and Clary to get dressed in your Sunday's best, okay"

Harry and Clary exchanged curious glances, both wondering what Jocelyn had in mind. Nevertheless, they nodded and headed to their respective rooms to change.

In Clary's room, Clary chose a vibrant, emerald, green dress that complemented her fiery red hair, adding a pair of matching sandals.

Harry walked in, "Clary do you have anything fancy to wear, I only have casual clothes"

Clary looked around her room, then smiled. "I have just the thing! I got a new dress for my birthday, and I think it will look great on you." She went to her closet and pulled out a stunning, deep blue dress with delicate silver embroidery around the neckline and hem. "Try this one on. It should fit you perfectly."

Harry took the dress, admiring its craftsmanship. "Thanks, Clary. It's beautiful," she said, looking at the dress. I don't think this dress is for me, though. Do you have something that matches my silver eyes and black hair?"

"Only my most fancy dress, I wore it for the daughter of mom's friend's first communion," said Clary looking through her closet. "Is that good?"

"Show me," said Harry

Clary pulled out a dress from the back of her closet, carefully draped in a protective cover. She unzipped the cover to reveal an elegant, flowing gown. The dress was a shimmering silver colour, with intricate lace detailing along the bodice and sleeves. The skirt flowed gracefully to the floor, with a subtle sheen that caught the light beautifully. It had a high neckline adorned with delicate beadwork that matched the silver lace, adding a touch of sophistication.

"This is my most fancy dress," Clary said, holding it up for Harry to see. "It's a perfect match for your silver eyes and black hair."

Harry's eyes widened in admiration as she took in the stunning dress. "It's gorgeous, Clary. Are you sure it's okay for me to wear it?"

Clary smiled warmly. "Of course, Harry. I want you to feel comfortable and look your best. Let's get you ready."

With Clary's help, Harry slipped into the dress. The fabric felt cool and smooth against her skin, and the dress fit perfectly, enhancing her features and giving her an air of elegance.

Clary nodded approvingly. "You look amazing, Harry. That dress suits you. Have you ever walked in heels before?"

Harry shook her head, looking down at her bare feet. "No, I haven't. But I'm willing to give it a try."

Clary smiled warmly. "Don't worry, I'll help you. Let's see if we can find a pair that matches your dress." She rummaged through her closet and pulled out a pair of silver three-inch heels. "These should work. They're not too high, so it'll be easier for you to walk in them."

Once they were both dressed, they met in the living room. Jocelyn and Luke were already waiting, dressed in their own smart attire. Jocelyn wore a flowing, midnight blue dress, while Luke was wearing a NYPD dress uniform.

"You both look wonderful," Jocelyn said with a warm smile while looking at Harry's messy waist-length black hair. "Now Harry I am going to start with you, sit down and I will do something with your hair and put makeup on you."

Harry took a deep breath and nodded, sitting down as Jocelyn began to brush the knots and detangle Harry's wild hair. "Harry, what do you want to be done to your hair."

Harry thought for a moment, considering the options. "I don't know," she said finally. "I trust you, Aunt Jocelyn."

"Mom, why don't you do what you did to me when I wore that dress? You know with the flower clips, and the elegant braids, with soft curls. It will look very pretty on her" interrupted Clary.

Jocelyn smiled at Clary's suggestion. "That's a wonderful idea, Clary." She continued to brush Harry's hair gently, smoothing out the tangles. "I'll do a similar style for you, Harry. It's elegant and suits the occasion perfectly." as she plugged a curling iron into the outlet.

Jocelyn worked with practiced skill, separating Harry's hair into sections and curling each one carefully. Once the curls were set, she began to braid the front sections of Harry's hair, weaving in delicate silver flower clips that matched the dress. The braids were then pulled back and intertwined, creating an intricate and elegant updo. The rest of Harry's hair cascaded in soft curls, framing her face beautifully.

"Harry what is your name in your female form?" asked Jocelyn

"Asteria" she replied

"Okay Asteria, before I move on to makeup, I am going to pierce your ears and put earrings in them, Clary can you get the earrings you wore with this dress?" stated Jocelyn.

Clary nodded and quickly retrieved a pair of delicate silver earrings from her jewelry box. They were simple yet elegant, with small, sparkling stones that caught the light beautifully.

"Asteria, these will look perfect with your dress," Clary said, handing the earrings to Jocelyn.

Jocelyn carefully pierced Asteria's ears with a practiced hand, ensuring the earrings were securely in place. "There you go, Asteria. Now, let's move on to the makeup."

Jocelyn began applying a light foundation to even out Asteria's complexion, followed by a touch of blush to give her cheeks a natural, rosy glow. She used soft, neutral tones for the eyeshadow, adding a hint of silver to complement the dress. A touch of mascara and eyeliner highlighted Asteria's eyes, making them stand out beautifully.

"Asteria pucker your lips so I can put lipstick on it," asked Jocelyn.

Asteria obediently puckered her lips, and Jocelyn applied a light coat of soft pink lipstick, giving her a natural and elegant look. Once she was finished, Jocelyn stepped back to admire her work.

"There, all done," Jocelyn said with a smile. "You look absolutely stunning, Asteria."

Asteria looked at herself in the mirror, feeling a mixture of awe and nervousness. The transformation was remarkable, and she felt a newfound sense of confidence. "Thank you, Aunt Jocelyn," she said, her voice filled with gratitude. "I feel... beautiful." she did not want to say like a goddess but that is exactly what she looked like.

"Clary it's your turn" ordered Jocelyn.

Clary nodded eagerly and took a seat, ready for her own transformation. Jocelyn worked with the same skill and care, styling Clary's hair in a way that complemented her dress and features. She chose a similar elegant braid with soft curls, adding delicate green flower clips that matched Clary's emerald dress.

Once Clary's hair was done, Jocelyn applied a light foundation to her face, followed by a touch of blush. She used shades of green and gold for Clary's eyeshadow, accentuating her bright green eyes. A hint of mascara and eyeliner completed the look, and a soft pink lipstick gave her lips a natural, polished finish.

"You both look absolutely lovely," Jocelyn said, stepping back to admire her daughters. "I'm so proud of you."

Asteria and Clary exchanged smiles, feeling a deep sense of connection and excitement for the evening ahead. They joined Luke, who was waiting with a proud smile, and the family set out for their evening event.

Jocelyn's eyes twinkling with a hint of mystery. "We are going to the Professional banquet hosted by Luke's job in the NYPD. So, be on your best behaviour. Just because you are eleven and ten does not mean I will not take you to the bathroom and spank your bottoms with my hairbrush understand?"

Asteria and Clary exchanged nervous glances before nodding obediently. "Yes, Aunt Jocelyn," Harry said, feeling a mix of excitement and apprehension.

"Got it, Mom," Clary added with a smile, clearly trying to ease the tension.

Jocelyn's expression softened, and she gave them a reassuring smile. "Good. Now let's go and enjoy the evening."

The group left the apartment, the cool evening air brushing against their skin as they made their way to the banquet. The streets of New York were alive with activity, and the city lights created a dazzling display against the darkening sky.

They arrived at an elegant venue, the grand entrance adorned with intricate decorations and a red carpet leading inside. Luke led the way, his presence exuding confidence and pride as they stepped into the bustling reception area.

"Detective Luke Garroway," said a lady wearing a NYPD Police Academy uniform, in the reception area. "How many are with you and their ages?"

Luke smiled warmly at the lady. "Evening, cadet. I'm here with my partner. Jocelyn Fairchild, her daughter Clary Fairchild who's ten, and her niece Asteria Potter who's eleven."

"It's Asteria Phaesporia, not Potter" corrected Asteria

The cadet nodded, making a note of their names and ages before gesturing for them to proceed. While writing them on an identification sticker. "Welcome, Detective Garroway, Asteria can you spell your first and last name for me"

Asteria smiled politely at the cadet. "Sure, it's A-S-T-E-R-I-A P-H-A-E-S-P-O-R-I-A."

The cadet quickly wrote down the names on the identification stickers and handed them to Jocelyn, Asteria, and Clary "Thank you, Miss Phaesporia. Enjoy the banquet. Please put this on where it's visible don't worry it will not ruin your clothes."

Jocelyn, Asteria, and Clary carefully attached the identification stickers to their dresses, ensuring they were visible but didn't detract from their elegant outfits. Luke led them further into the reception area, where they were greeted by a lively atmosphere of conversation, laughter, and the clinking of glasses.

The room was filled with well-dressed attendees, including police officers, their families, and various dignitaries. The décor was sophisticated, with chandeliers casting a warm glow over the room, and beautifully arranged tables adorned with fine linens and centerpieces.

"Luke, good to see you," said a tall man in a sharp suit who was sitting at the table they were assigned to, "And who are these lovely ladies?"

"Good evening, Captain," Luke replied with a smile. "This is my partner, Jocelyn Fairchild, her daughter Clary, and her niece Asteria." he turned toward Jocelyn. "Everyone this is Captain Tim Donovan of NYC EMS"

Captain Donovan extended his hand with a warm smile. "It's a pleasure to meet you all. Welcome to the banquet."

Jocelyn shook his hand politely, followed by Clary and Asteria. "Thank you, Captain. We're honoured to be here," Jocelyn replied.

As they took their seats at the table, Asteria couldn't help but feel a bit nervous. The atmosphere was formal and sophisticated, a stark contrast to her usual surroundings. Clary, sensing her cousin's unease, gave her a reassuring smile and squeezed her hand under the table.

"Everyone welcome," said a tall man on stage, "to the 1992 joint NYPD, FDNY, and NYC EMS banquet. I am New York City Mayor David Dinkins, and it's my honour to host this evening. Tonight, we celebrate the bravery, dedication, and hard work of our city's finest. Please enjoy the dinner, and later, we'll have awards to recognize outstanding service. But first please rise as we present the colors. Presenting the colours this year is Clara Barton High School Army JROTC"

The room stood in unison as the high school JROTC colour guard marched in, bearing the American and New York State flags with precision. The national anthem played, and everyone placed their hands over their hearts, joining in the solemn moment.

"Thank you," said Mayor Dinkins. "Next we Cardinal John Joseph O'Connor, Catholic Archbishop of New York who will say grace"

As Cardinal John Joseph O'Connor approached the podium, the room fell into a respectful silence. He offered a warm smile to the gathered crowd before bowing his head.

"Let us pray. Heavenly Father, we gather here tonight to honour and celebrate the courage and dedication of the men and women who serve our great city. We ask for your blessings upon this meal and upon each person present. May you grant us strength, wisdom, and unity as we work together to keep our community safe. Amen."

A collective "Amen" echoed through the hall as everyone took their seats once more.

"Gentlemen you may now seat the ladies," said the mayor.

Luke, Captain Donovan, and the other men at the table helped their respective partners and family members into their seats before taking their own. Asteria felt a mix of awe and excitement as the elegant proceedings unfolded around her. This was a world so different from anything she had experienced before.

As they settled in, the waitstaff began to serve the first course, a delicate salad with a variety of fresh vegetables and a light vinaigrette. Asteria tried to focus on the conversation at the table, but her mind kept drifting to the grandeur of the event and the significance of being here with Jocelyn, Clary, and Luke.

"So, Asteria," Captain Donovan began, turning his attention to her, "I hear you're quite new to New York. How are you finding the city?"

Asteria smiled politely, trying to ignore the butterflies in her stomach. "It's hard to say I am still new to the city, Captain Donovan. While I have been to Long Island that is very different than here. As you can tell from my accent and my name. I am from Greece, but I attend Boarding school in Scotland"

Captain Donovan nodded, intrigued. "Greece and Scotland? That's quite a combination. What brings you to New York then?"

Asteria hesitated for a moment, careful with her words. "I'm visiting family and experiencing the city. It's been an incredible adventure so far."

Clary chimed in with a grin. "We're going to show her all the best spots in the city. She'll be a true New Yorker by the time she leaves."

"Clary, Asteria you have never been to a dinner like this so listen carefully," demanded Jocelyn.

"Make sure to use your utensils from the outside in. If you're unsure, just follow my lead. And remember, always place your napkin on your lap. Be polite, listen, and engage in conversation. It's about making a good impression and enjoying the evening."

Asteria and Clary nodded, absorbing Jocelyn's advice. As the waitstaff cleared the salad plates and brought out the main course, Asteria took a deep breath, feeling a bit more confident with Jocelyn's guidance.

The main course consisted of a beautifully presented plate of roast chicken with a side of seasonal vegetables and a creamy mashed potato. The aroma was enticing, and Asteria felt her stomach rumble in anticipation.

"So, Clary," Captain Donovan said, turning his attention to her, "Luke tells us you are something of an artist, can you tell us what type of art you like to do?"

Clary's eyes lit up with excitement at the mention of her art. "I love drawing and painting, Captain Donovan. Mostly, I like to sketch scenes from around the city, but sometimes I draw fantasy creatures and landscapes. New York has been such an inspiration."

Captain Donovan smiled warmly. "That's wonderful to hear. The city does have a lot to offer for an artist. Maybe one day, we'll see your work in a gallery."

Clary blushed at the compliment. "Thank you, Captain. That would be amazing."

Captain Donovan turned to Asteria, "What about you what do you like to do?"

Asteria took a moment to think before responding. "I enjoy archery and exploring nature. My mother is very connected to the wilderness, and she's taught me a lot about the natural world. I also love reading, especially stories about mythology and ancient history."

Captain Donovan's eyes lit up with interest. "Archery, you say? That's quite a unique hobby. Are you very skilled?"

Asteria smiled. "In Greece, I have won several competitions in outdoor archery."

"Impressive!" Captain Donovan exclaimed, genuinely impressed. "Archery requires a lot of focus and discipline. It's a valuable skill to have."

Asteria nodded, feeling a bit more at ease with the conversation flowing naturally. She noticed Jocelyn giving her a subtle nod of approval, which boosted her confidence further.

The evening continued with pleasant conversation and delicious food. As the main course was cleared away, the waitstaff brought out a decadent dessert – a rich chocolate mousse topped with fresh berries and a delicate swirl of whipped cream.

Jocelyn sitting next to Asteria kicked her shin. "Close your legs" she whispered in her ear.

Asteria blushed, immediately closing her legs and adjusting her posture. She whispered back, "Sorry, Aunt Jocelyn." Jocelyn gave her a reassuring smile, patting her hand gently.

As they enjoyed their dessert, the room buzzed with lively chatter and laughter. The mayor returned to the stage, signalling the start of the awards ceremony.

"Tonight, we honour the outstanding service and bravery of our city's finest," Mayor Dinkins began, his voice resonating through the hall. "These individuals have gone above and beyond in their duty to protect and serve our community."

The first awards were given to police officers and firefighters who had demonstrated exceptional bravery and dedication. The audience applauded warmly as each recipient stepped up to the stage to accept their award.

As the ceremony continued, Asteria felt a sense of pride and admiration for the men and women being recognized. She glanced at Luke, who was watching the proceedings with a proud smile.

"Next, we have a special award for an extraordinary act of heroism," Mayor Dinkins announced. "This year's recipient is Detective Luke Garroway."

Asteria and Clary exchanged excited glances as Luke stood up, making his way to the stage. The audience erupted in applause, and Jocelyn beamed with pride.

"Detective Garroway demonstrated incredible bravery and quick thinking in a dangerous situation," Mayor Dinkins continued. "His actions saved lives and exemplify the best of our city's first responders. It is my honour to present him with this award."

Luke accepted the award with a humble smile, shaking the mayor's hand. "Thank you, Mayor Dinkins. I'm honoured to serve this city and to work alongside such dedicated colleagues."

As Luke returned to the table, Asteria and Clary couldn't contain their excitement. "Congratulations, Uncle Luke!" they both exclaimed, hugging him tightly.

"Thank you, girls," Luke replied, his eyes twinkling with pride. "I'm lucky to have such a wonderful family supporting me."

The ceremony concluded with a heartfelt speech from Mayor Dinkins, expressing gratitude for the hard work and dedication of all the city's first responders. As the evening came to a close, the guests began to mingle and enjoy the remainder of the night.

Jocelyn, Asteria, and Clary stood up, ready to join the socializing. "Remember to be polite and gracious," Jocelyn reminded them. "This is an opportunity to make connections and leave a positive impression."

Asteria and Clary nodded, following Jocelyn's lead as they mingled with the other guests. They exchanged polite greetings, engaging in light conversation and expressing their admiration for the work of the city's first responders.

As the night progressed, Asteria found herself talking to various people, sharing her experiences and learning about theirs. She felt a growing sense of confidence and belonging, grateful for the opportunity to be a part of this special evening.

Eventually, the time came to leave, and the group made their way back to the apartment, the city lights twinkling around them. Asteria couldn't help but feel a sense of wonder and excitement about the future and the adventures that awaited her.

As they stepped through the front door, Jocelyn turned to Asteria and Clary. "You both did wonderfully tonight. I'm proud of you. Asteria, are you going to swap to your male form?"

Asteria shook her head, a thoughtful expression on her face. "I can't, I have tried three different times, and I have been stuck as a female. I have been getting cramps, however."

"Follow me to my bathroom" demanded Jocelyn.

Asteria followed Jocelyn to the bathroom, feeling a mixture of curiosity and apprehension. Clary stayed behind, giving them privacy. Jocelyn turned on the light and closed the door, guiding Asteria to sit on the edge of the bathtub.

"Asteria, you mentioned you've been feeling cramps," Jocelyn began gently. "That could mean your body is going through some changes, especially since you mentioned being stuck in your female form. Do you mind if I help you take off your dress so I can check."

Asteria hesitated for a moment but then nodded, trusting Jocelyn. "Alright, Aunt Jocelyn."

Jocelyn helped Asteria out of the dress with care, making sure not to damage the delicate fabric. Once Asteria was undressed, Jocelyn took a gentle yet thorough look, paying close attention to Asteria's abdomen.

"Are the cramps constant, or do they come and go?" Jocelyn asked, her tone professional yet kind.

"They come and go," Asteria replied, feeling a bit self-conscious but grateful for Jocelyn's concern.

Jocelyn nodded, her expression thoughtful. "It sounds like menstrual cramps, Asteria. Have you had your period before?"

"No, I started to bleed down there shortly after I arrived here but I paid no attention to it" answered Asteria.

"Why didn't you tell me? You mean to tell me for the last eight hours you have been bleeding and didn't tell me?" asked Jocelyn.

Asteria looked down, a mix of embarrassment and confusion on her face. "I didn't know what it was, and I didn't want to make a fuss."

Jocelyn's expression softened with understanding. "Asteria, it's important to tell someone if you're feeling unwell or experiencing something new with your body. Especially something like this. It's perfectly natural and nothing to be embarrassed about. But now you didn't tell me we will have to throw away your underwear and tights because they are filled with blood"

Asteria nodded, feeling a wave of relief wash over her. "I'm sorry, Aunt Jocelyn. I'll make sure to tell you next time."

Jocelyn smiled warmly. "It's alright, Asteria. This is all part of growing up and understanding your body. Let's get you cleaned up and I'll show you how to use sanitary products. But first" Jocelyn opened the bathroom door and yelled "Clary, can you pick a nightgown for your cousin"

Clary rushed to her room, quickly sifting through her drawer for a nightgown suitable for Asteria. She selected a soft, lavender nightgown with delicate lace trim, knowing it would be comfortable and pretty.

"Here you go," Clary said, handing the nightgown to Jocelyn. "This should be perfect."

Jocelyn smiled, taking the nightgown and closing the bathroom door again. "Thank you, Clary."

She turned back to Asteria, who was waiting patiently. "Let's get you cleaned up first," Jocelyn said, guiding Asteria to the shower. "You can rinse off and I'll get everything ready."

Asteria nodded, stepping into the shower. The warm water felt soothing against her skin, washing away the remnants of the day's events. As she finished, Jocelyn handed her a towel and a set of clean underwear with a sanitary pad already in place.

"Here, Asteria. I've got everything ready for you. This is a pad; it will help with the bleeding. I'll show you how to use it properly."

Jocelyn explained the process step-by-step, ensuring Asteria understood how to position and secure the pad. Asteria listened carefully, grateful for Jocelyn's patient guidance.

"Thank you, Aunt Jocelyn," Asteria said once she was dressed in the nightgown. "I feel much better now."

"You're welcome, Asteria," Jocelyn replied with a warm smile. "It's all part of taking care of yourself. If you ever have any questions or need help, just let me know."

Asteria nodded, feeling reassured. As they left the bathroom, Clary was waiting in the hallway, concern etched on her face.

"Is everything okay?" Clary asked, looking between Asteria and Jocelyn.

"Everything's fine, Clary," Jocelyn reassured her. "Asteria just needed a little help with something new." she turned to Asteria, "Asteria, I am going to give you Tylenol for your cramps okay"

Asteria nodded, appreciating Jocelyn's care. "Thank you, Aunt Jocelyn."

Jocelyn went to the medicine cabinet and retrieved a bottle of Tylenol. She handed Asteria two tablets along with a glass of water. "Here you go. This should help with the cramps."

Asteria took the tablets and swallowed them with the water. "Thanks."

Clary gave Asteria a comforting hug. "If you need anything, just let me know. We're in this together."

Asteria smiled, feeling a sense of warmth and support from her family. "Thanks, Clary. I will."

Jocelyn looked at the two girls with a mixture of pride and affection. "Alright, girls. It's been a long day. Let's get some rest. Tomorrow, we'll start fresh and enjoy the city."

They all headed to their respective rooms, the events of the evening still fresh in their minds. Asteria lay in bed, feeling a newfound sense of confidence and belonging. Despite the challenges and surprises, she knew she was surrounded by people who cared for her deeply.
