Fullmetal Spear Hero
Chapter 3 First Day and Trial
AN: Heads Up there is a twist to the story at the end of the chapter.
One would think that even an alchemical prodigy would be able to excel at learning new mechanics if they were similar to what they were already accustomed to. This however was far from the case, especially for Edward Elric.
For the next 4 hours and almost past midnight, Edward and Naofumi had been going over what the shield hero could tell him regarding status magic and what not. Don't Ed wrong, he knew that people had different reactions to any form of alchemy even beginner's alchemy. Winry's first impression of the alchemical sculpture he and Al made was one such issue.
This magic stuff though, this was a whole other language. Naofumi took pity on him and explained the concept of video games, magic, and what some people would pretend to do to make it seem real as a sort of temporary fantasy. That took almost a third of the time that they spent that evening.
Poor Edward Elric, he just wished he could be somewhere that made sense, but this was going to take some getting used to. He didn't exactly have a choice in the matter.
Before going to bed though he, tried making one effort to review that status magic thing with Naofumi and ended up pulling up the following results:
Edward Elric/Beginner Adventurer/ Alchemical Prodigy. (Locked Level 10)
Lv. 1
HP: 175
Atk: 125
Def: 110
Spd: 98
He brought this up to Naofumi which caused the hero to begin sulking saying that while his Defense is almost top notch, everything else is trash. This causes the shield hero to ask why his stats are so low when Ed's were so high.
The Alchemist thought about it and said that the best way he could think was that he was fighting hand to hand combat in his younger years, facing off against serial killers and even worked under a major general and a general for a while.
The shield hero though that he was bluffing since no one worked in the army that young but then again he was from an earlier time period.
Edward had a feeling that going to fight in so called adventures with his arm and leg the way they were was going to complicate matters.
Though the thing that worried him the most after looking at the list was what was said at the top.
His alchemy was locked.
This was going to be a problem. While he said that he would be fine without his alchemy to the truth, he was also getting out of a war and getting his brother back. Living in a time of peace without his portal of truth was acceptable, this was not.
He already accepted that this world was going to be violent but even though he wielded a spear as a defensive and offensive weapon in the past, he wasn't actually proficient in it. He mainly relied on his transmuted automail arm and alchemy.
But he would worry about that in the morning.
Whatever these party members were described by the king, hopefully they could help him find his way around the place.
Putting that out of his mind, Edward prepared himself for sleep and dozed off to dreamland.
Of course, he wasn't the only person to get little sleep that evening. There were certain members of upper society who were talking about the summoning of the four heroes.
"Didn't you hear, the king had summoned the cardinal heroes."
"What, even that shield?" especially with the world leaders the way that they are?
"I hope the king knows what he is doing."
That very next morning:
The four heroes made their way to the throne room where a number of people were assembled to see what kind of aid the king will provide to them that morning.
Naofumi stood there gaping at the appearance of several of these people. Ed couldn't exactly blame him. Of course these people had different professions than what he practiced not to mention careers and Naofumi's advice would only get him so far.
The king had specified that instead of the heroes picking out the adventurers, it was going to be the other way around.
Now that threw everyone for a loop.
Of course, Naofumi being the one with the weaker cardinal weapon got the short end of the stick. While both Itsuki and Ren had around five to six to their group, Ed had four and they were all women.
Naofumi of course being ignorant in his own mannerisms didn't exactly help his case when asked about his lack of adventurers.
Ed grumbled under his breath. People were not tools that they could just pick and discard whenever they wished. He had to disagree with the king's declaration about the rumors though, when he himself had less knowledge about the world than the other three, especially Naofumi.
Don't get Ed wrong he knew perfectly well just how good women were especially when you put together Riza Hawkeye and Oliver Armstrong.
Edward, Ren and Itsuki were given 600 pieces of silver and then Naofumi had 800 since no one joined him as a small compensation. Surprisingly one of the women in Edward's party, a pretty red haired woman with green eyes had offered to join Naofumi.
The Fullmetal Alchemist narrowed his eyes in suspicion. She joined Naofumi after he was offered more money. Call him paranoid but after everything he experienced in the war and the coup, he learned that even gentle faces can be deceiving.
Sadly, that was all speculation and he couldn't exactly call the woman: Myne Sophia out on it.
With that, the king had wished them all luck.
Naofumi and Ed parted ways to the blonde's disappointment, but he had a feeling that the party members as they were called would know where to go.
First things first though.
"Look I know that I may be the so called spear hero, but we need to get some things sorted out. I know you think I am some legend based on some stories but I am not the spear hero of the past but the one of the present. You already have my name but I would like to at least know the names of the people in my group. My name is Edward Elric… Spear Hero… that's going to take some getting used to, former Major in the army of Amestris. What are your names and your specialties?"
The shortest of the three went first. "My name Sir Spear Hero is Rino, I am a mage a small time adventurer of Melromarc. I am from a town in the southwestern part of Melromarc, Lerno Village."
'Okay Lerno village, looks like I am going to need to make a list on things to get on my shopping list before going anywhere… like a map of all things.'
The next one to go was the blonde. "Elena Haven, Sir Spear Hero, and I am of a minor noble family up north and have some experience with a sword."
Ed wasn't sure what to make of this one. Yes it would be true having someone of the nobility even a minor one would help navigate the government but he couldn't make heads or tails on this one. She may claim to be a swordswoman but he saw how fierce Olivia and Bradley were in combat, but Elena looked to have none of that ferocity. He would need to test that claim when he had the chance.
The final member of his team made no sense to him. She carried herself in a regal manner and wore little in terms of clothing or armor. She carried no weapon that he could see unless she was like him and specialized in hand to hand combat. "I am called Lesty Sir Spear Hero from Castletown, like my comrades I am also an experienced adventurer." She proclaimed with a smile. Ed wasn't buying it and felt there was more to it than that. But at the same time he couldn't go off without any proof.
"Thank You, I can understand that some of you may be interested in going to fight and what not preparing for the waves but we have quite a shopping spree we need to attend to. Despite it sounding selfish, I need to take care of my minor needs first." at the three ladies inquisitive look, he stated: "I can't exactly fight like this if you know what I mean, it will get torn up too easily. And that's just the start."
"Of course Sir Spear Hero…" Lesty cheered. Elena rolled her eyes at Lesty's antics. She couldn't deny Edward had a point though.
"I think there is a an armor shop somewhere around here Sir Spear Hero…." Rino started but Edward held up his hand.
"While I can understand where you are coming from Miss Rino, that I need to prepare for these waves of Calamity, I need to start off small for several reasons. One, I am new to this world so I am in unfamiliar territory despite being a seasoned fighter. I don't know what these so- called 'Waves of Catastrophe' will entail in terms of danger. Two, I don't know when the so- called next wave will hit and where exactly, but-" even without looking into the bag, he held it all up for them to see. "I don't see if this here can help us to buy the things needed, sustain us till said event and help with upgrading equipment. Three, I can't rely on the funds from the treasury even the king is not that generous and don't get me started about running the risk of going into debt with royalty, that never ends well."
"Isn't that kinda what you are in right now?" Elena asked him. Ed nodded reluctantly. "I need to find a way to make this thing grow besides adventuring. If what Naofumi told me about the way adventuring works, then I need another method to make money besides this." The mention of Naofumi made the three ladies twitch.
"Even if I don't know how leveling and adventuring fully work, if people are going to be hard pressed to keep up with the waves in order to strong and finance their livelihoods, eventually the economy won't be able to handle the strain, and there would be too many adventurers but not enough missions or money because all the high pay ones will have been cleared out."
Though Lesty and Rino had a bit of trouble following, Elena had an idea on where the Spear hero was coming from. Adventuring was not for everyone but if the missions were cleared out between the waves then people would be struggling for money.
At least in her opinion the spear hero had some idea when it came to dealing with finances. Maybe there was some truth to that army declaration she heard from him. Even the soldiers had to budget sometimes. Still, she hoped that he would at least be decent to provide for them.
That didn't sit well with Lesty though. Like Myne she also desired lavish things.
Rino decided to ask her own questions. "So what exactly will you be looking for first, Sir Spear Hero? You said clothing. I know of a few places in the Castletown market."
Edward nodded in acknowledgement "Thank You, Miss Rino, Yes, one might think with a spear or a sword or even a bow and shield like the other three heroes; they would be like the soldiers and go for the armor. To me, it restricts maneuverability and slows people down. I also need to visit a medic and a cartographer to purchase a map. Afterwards we can get some lunch and then we need to head on over to the library." Each word he said was starting to grate on Lesty's nerves but she held it in. Elena was frustrated with the amount of work he said that he was going to do. Was there going to be no leveling today?
Rino at least respected the planner part of this new hero. "Why the library though sir spear hero? What are you looking for there?"
Ed let out a small groan seeing that these three didn't understand. "While the three of us may have come from different worlds and what not, it's the weapons which allow us to communicate verbally, written lingo and signs are a whole other thing entirely. The other three heroes may not see the benefit of it but I at least want to read the language of this world. Especially if the three of us are separated, the same thing applies to the map. I would need to be able to read the map." Ed concluded by listing off the different reasons on his fingers.
"As this is a different type of government, I still need to navigate the nobility and army so as to know when and how to address them. I got away with that in my old world since they at least respected my talent and my contributions in helping the government but even we didn't have that many nobles."
Elena was curious. "What kind of world did you live in Sir Spear Hero?"
Ed closed his eyes and thought for a moment. I can't exactly say for sure on the kingdom to the north as we were on shaky ground with them, but to my knowledge, the head of the nation is called the Tzar. The kingdom to the east across the desert held a monarchy regarding an emperor, but our country, we are a military like nation. The head of the nation wasn't called the king or the emperor. He was given the title Fuhrer.
That got Rino nervous, the nation of Faubrey was incredibly militaristic more so than Siltvelt which still follow a loose version of a monarchy.
With that in mind, they made their way to the market. Along the way Edward was seeing quite a few things that stuck out like a sore thumb even to him.
In some areas, he saw what looked like a giant bipedal gecko being led by a …wait was that a chimera?
Lesty smiled seeing how some things were true according to the church. The spear hero was scared of demi humans.
It took close to an hour but Edward managed to get a change of clothes. He surprised the party members that his outfit was completely black. He even got a red cloak with hood and had asked for it to be embroidered with the cross he had on his old jacket. He didn't know why but for nostalgic reasons. Smiling though he thought it still looked cool in his opinion, the other members of his party were a bit skeptical.
"It's a manner of the philosophy regarding the art that I practiced back home. Right now I am unable perform it. But hopefully with time I will."
They stopped by a store that sold maps and were able to find one that showed the map of Melromarc and the surrounding towns and borders. It still had a compass but that was it. The rest of it was still unreadable.
"Looks like we have some work to do later but for now, I need to see a medic." Ed reminded them.
"There is an apothecary a few blocks over Sir Spear Hero." Rino mentioned.
She directed him to one which he had entered "Oh Sir Spear Hero they don't exactly allow anybody in."
Ed raised an eyebrow at her. "Not to be rude but if an apothecary is supposed to be a medic, how can they treat something if they don't know what to treat?"
The man at the front gave out a sigh and motioned for Ed to enter. "What is it you need a potion for sir? Do note this will probably be the only time I can do this."
Ed asked to pull the curtains and took off the white shirt. The apothecary froze in fright at the sight of Ed's right shoulder and arm. "BY THE ANCIENTS. WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU?" Ed's shoulder still had some of the bolts and what not from when he still had his automail arm embedded in his shoulder and upper rib cage. The shriek got Ed's party members worried as even they never expected the injuries Ed was talking about to be this bad.
"Let's just say God Tier Magic meshing with man-made mechanics is not something that I am not willing to step into or go into depth myself because even I don't know where to begin."
That was one way of saying way over your head bub.
The man stammered as he took in the appearance of the injury. "I…I…I….I am going to need some holy water…. And… and ….some higher potions... for this otherwise it will get infected if it hasn't already."
There went another dip into the funds he was given by the king.
The apothecary took the water and the potions and got right to work. By the time he was done, Ed was free of any metal. Ed looked at him.
"How much do I owe you?" he asked calmly.
The apothecary glanced shakily at the alchemist with a haunted look "….forty silvers sir." Ed nodded and gave the man the required money. "Sir Spear… I can't do anything about the muscle; whatever happened the muscle needs to build back up."
He nodded in response. Not exactly ideal but he will find a way to make due.
Edward and his squad left the apothecary with ten healing potions and several more silvers lighter, causing Lesty and Elena to cry a little bit.
After getting a bite to eat, Edward asked to make their way to the library where Ed had asked the librarian for books on translation and terminology for the local language.
The librarian was surprised at the spear hero himself coming to the library but disappointed he was not preparing for the waves.
Surprisingly it took Edward about four hours to understand the local language and to obtain a basic understanding of the lingo here. It will take some more time to have the full understanding. But now that that is done he felt like he was going to help these people turn in and get ready for the evening. It's a bit late to go grinding as they say. Ed gave his apologies to the ladies and said that he would work with them tomorrow.
That evening though, Edward wanted to know more about the government and the chain of command. He got that the king was in charge right now while his wife was away. That got his attention. "What do you mean while his wife is away? Where is she?"
Lesty tried to divert the question with a half-truth "She is unavailable at the moment when discussing the waves with the other nations. The queen has always been respected here and her knowledge is needed more on the upper end of matters."
She may not have known it but Edwards been around plenty of liars during his time in the military. He knows that she is avoiding telling the truth, but what is the real truth. That being said he also comes to a different conclusion. "So the king doesn't have the real power. It's the queen who does huh?"
Rino, Elena, and Lesty all acknowledged the answer here.
'If that's the case, then I definitely need to be careful in this country, especially with my party. Its comprised almost entirely of women.'
Naofumi had arrived not that much later with his former party member Myne Sophia. Edward looked towards them and noticed her attempting to give Naofumi a glass of red wine which he had blatantly refused.
The shield hero said a few things that Edward caught like he wasn't a fighter and that worried Edward greatly. One of the earlier parts of the conversation with Myne he had picked up was that Naofumi had brought her armor that looked rather on the expensive side.
There had been cases back in Amestris where one person requests the other to buy extravagant equipment and supplies to further their causes. Case in point Liore and Father Cornello. He would need to speak to Naofumi before he turned in.
Edward turned to his comrades and asked if he could turn in. He would see them in the morning.
Finding Naofumi took a few minutes since he needed to be discreet. He knew he wouldn't exactly appreciate Ed devaluing his actions today, but hopefully it will help him in the long run.
Knocking on the door, it opened up revealing a surprised Naofumi just getting out of his gear. "Edward, what are you doing here? I wasn't aware you were spending the night here too."
Ed's face had a solemn expression. "Sorry for barging in on you like this, but do you a have some time, there are some things we need to discuss."
Naofumi didn't like the look on his face but he decided to hear him out. Letting Ed in, Naofumi closed the door. "Was everything okay today, I was out leveling up with Myne and so were Ren and Itsuki. Didn't you start preparing for the waves too? I already spent a bit with this armor it cost quite a bit but it's a good bargain right? For starting out"
Edward shook his head. This was going to be a lot harder than he thought. Taking a chair he motioned for Naofumi to sit down.
"I can understand that you and the other two who were summoned with us have different opinions of preparation for these waves, but we need to discuss everything that happened today Naofumi and I can understand that you think helping a woman would endear them to you but I am just going to be blunt here Naofumi." Naofumi cocked his head at him.
Ed's golden eyes bored into Naofumi's grey ones. "You're being scammed here Naofumi."
Naofumi leapt up from his bed. Eyes filled with aggression. "WHAT, WHERE DO YOU GET THAT IDEA FROM?"
The other world traveler gave his fellow hero a glance at the armor on the stand and the bed.
"Today when I was doing my shopping I had mainly focused on myself rather than my party, though what I mainly did entailed getting fully healed myself, a map of the kingdom, and this new garb, yeah it may have cost me close to a hundred silvers Naofumi."
"What's your point Edward? Yeah I got some equipment for Myne and myself but what does it matter?"
"You haven't really had a job growing up have you Naofumi? Not even watching your money? I did even in the Military. But the thing that I am trying to get at is that even if you got two hundred extra silver for yourself from the king you're not setting a good example for other people who use shields as their class at all. How much have you gone through on your very first day just for two of you and one according to the king was a seasoned adventurer? How much grinding did she do compared to you? I may not know how the so called shield class works but even soldiers don't rely on just their guns to get them through the fight. Here's the worst case scenario right now. Something happens to her and then where will you be?"
That got Naofumi's attention, he felt like such an idiot, just following a girl based solely on her looks. He already spent much on Myne's armor and sword. The next person he recruits, if he recruits turns out to be more than or just as demanding of the weapons and what not.
He wanted to puke.
What was he going to do? He better get a move on with leveling up tomorrow to begin replenishing what he spent today.
Ed's scowl deepened. "At least tell me you learned somethings useful from this experience." Ouch harsh much. Then again, he only had himself to blame.
Taking a deep breath he started. "I don't know if this helps but when Myne and I were grinding she took me out to a field to eliminate orange balloon monsters. They're small around the size of my head, very weak monsters. Due to the fact I couldn't easily kill them due my low attack power, and my high defense, I was only able to gain a few XP at most."
Ed checked the status magic of his fellow hero and bit back a pained gasp. Naofumi hardly gained anything and she wants to take him out somewhere harder. Out of the question.
Admonishing his fellow hero right now wouldn't do them any favors. "If they are too fast and they can't get past your defense, let them bite you and gravity do part of the work Naofumi. I would advise trying to kill a few on you own efficiently before biting off more than you can chew."
Embarrassed at how easy that sounds if it helps him to get XP easier to level up on his own. He decides to add something else. "Myne also told me that if one were to bring the materials to the market we can turn them in for currency but the couple of scraps that one does collect to bring in only go for a copper at the very most."
That didn't sound like much but it was a start to go somewhere.
"I also learned if you feed materials to the shield it unlocks other series maybe it's the same for others, though it has to be a certain amount I think."
Ed had an idea. "Hand me your shield."
Confused, Naofumi showed his shield to Ed. Ed took a silver coin and put it on the gem.
Naofumi saw that the shield displayed a new series, silver currency series. Silver coin now holds more value. He felt like he could cry. If just these small materials can do, then almost any kind of material will work.
Grateful at least to have some good fortune tonight, he felt like he should sleep a little bit better.
"Sleep. You are going to need your strength tomorrow."
The shield hero bid the spear goodnight and got ready for bed.
The next morning Naofimi woke up and saw to his horror that he had been robbed during the night. Running out into the hallway he tried looking for Myne.
"MYNE..MYNE… WHERE ARE YOU? THE SUPPLIES THEY'RE GONE. MYNE!" Naofumi kept banging on the door to her room. Yet nobody answers.
A stampede of metal resounded outside and inside the inn. Within moments, the shield hero was surrounded by knights of the castle.
"Knights of the castle? I'm glad you're here. Please I've been…," but Naofumi was interrupted when one of the knights demanded that he come with them immediately as the king has issued an immediate summons for him.
Naofumi was confused as the knights dragged him to the carriage and by the time that they arrived to the throne room, he was thrown onto the floor with the full court assembled.
He noticed Myne Sophia hiding behind Edward Elric and tried to ask Myne if she is alright but she just makes sobbing noises and hides her face behind Ed.
The king tells him to shut up despite Naofumi trying to speak. He had tried to ask for the king to find the thief, but the king ordered him silent and asked Myne to speak her piece where the shield hero had raped her. How he came into the room drunk and said that the night was still young and that he had forced himself on her and ripped her clothes off.
Afterwards she claimed that she had escaped and came looking for help in Edward Elric as he was staying at the same inn.
Edward decided to speak up. "Myne Sophia had asked until morning before the guards were to be called. That is what I had done. I know that you claim to have gone to bed last night and I can honestly say this though."
The spear hero pulled a sack from inside his cloak and placed the items on the floor in a folded manner.
"Are these items yours?" Naofumi looked defeated but nodded.
Edward stood and faced the king and Myne Sophia, a stern look in his golden eyes. "In that case, I SIDE WITH THE SHIELD HERO." Naofumi's eyes widened in shock at this declaration, even Ed's own party members were left speechless.
This caused a riot in the hall which the king had ordered everyone silent. "SPEAR HERO, EXPLAIN YOURSELF!" King Aultcray had ordered Edward.
Edward huffed at this old man, any respect he may have had towards him evaporated that very moment. "Okay old man, several holes are in this story of this petulant little liar. Would you like for me to point them out?" he drawled out.
Aultcray growled out as Edward continued. "I'll take that as a yes then. Ok first off, Myne claims that I was sleeping by chance at the same inn. She could not have known that unless she was told in advance by someone she knew."
Lesty spoke up saying that she told Myne. Causing Edward to smile on the inside as he had an idea on who the little bird was now.
"The second thing that you are not aware of was that me and my group had arrived at the inn before Myne and Naofumi. I may have finished early but while I was there, I saw Naofumi and Myne have dinner themselves. Myne had told Naofumi that this country was a matriarchy and that women have the power here. She had also attempted to get Naofumi to get try a glass of red wine, however Naofumi had rejected the wine himself I saw him not take a single sip. You can even see that there is no physical sign of an alcoholic hangover as she claims that she was raped by a drunken shield hero."
The guards, king, and Myne had forgotten about that and since it is the spear hero speaking, the people were listening.
"Thirdly, Myne Sophia had presented this armor to me as a gift." Naofumi's glared at the betrayal of his comrade. "I had a feeling this was not some coincidence since I spoke with Naofumi late last night before I called it a night myself. Naofumi Iwatani, the shield hero, was wearing this exact armor. Unless this armor is mass produced like your knights armor, then I don't see anyone else wearing it."
"Fourth, Myne said that she came to me and told me to wait until morning to contact the guards. Quite a lot of issues with this statement, especially considering her actions and this kingdom's form of ruling." This got everyone interested. "This woman claims to have been raped by a cardinal hero. Her first action should have been to go straight to the guards to request for their help. That's what I would have done in her place. She did not. What was going through her mind? If one cardinal hero was capable of said rape, what did that mean for the rest of the cardinal heroes here in Castletown? You see where I am going with this?" The king ground his teeth at that. When he puts it that way, from a governing standpoint, it did seem logical, but he needs to get the shield hero convicted.
"Be that as it may, evidence was gathered at the scene that points towards rape." The king tried to steer the trial back in his favor.
"What evidence is that?" Ed smiled knowing he got the king and Myne riled up. They kinda deserved it.
A guard brought a piece of an undergarment.
"That's it? Myne claimed that the whole dress was torn. Where is the rest of it? If there even is more of it at all?" Edward stated. "If this is the all the evidence and a story with so many holes it can be compared to a torn rag, then it only stands to reason that you only wanted to cut out the weakest link before the training truly got underway. How shallow and shortsighted are you? For a king, that was a pretty badly thought out plan. Especially if you are aiming to save the world as you claim to be."
Myne wanted nothing more than to launch a fireball at that boy's cheeky grin and burn it straight off his face.
Aultcray was having none of it. "Be that as it may your crime has already circulated throughout the kingdom. You will not find any help except from the most despicable." He was not going to end this trial without throwing the shield hero to the wolves so to speak.
Edward though had just realized something. Another grin threatening to split his face, he spoke up. "Two more things to be aware of your majesty." The crowd turned to the spear hero.
"One, the armor presented to Naofumi is rightfully his. If he wishes to keep or pawn it, that is up to him, since Myne swallowed up most of the funds. Two, as she is no longer tied to any party right now, she royally screwed herself over." Edward turned to the other two heroes. "According to Naofumi, the majority a hero or a leader can have in a party is six right?"
Ren and Itsuki both nodded in acknowledgement. "Yeah what are you getting at?" Ren asked him. Then looked behind both himself and Itsuki as his eyes widened. Both were pretty much at the limit. Itsuki couldn't take anymore without hampering his own party's growth. Ren didn't think Myne would cut it in his party, and considering Ed sided with Naofumi, even if he has room there would always be conflict between her and Ed.
Shaking his head at her. "You really did screw yourself over Myne. Only Ed and I have room and-"
King Aultcray interrupted them all. "I will not hamper a selected adventurer's growth just because they couldn't cut it in one of the cardinal hero's parties. Sir Spear Hero." He smiled at Ed.
"Since Myne Sophia had originally been a member of your party, you will take responsibility for her. Unless of course you want to forfeit all of your members and start from scratch like the shield hero."
The four cardinal heroes wondered what Aultcray was playing at. Till Ed had responded. "I'll do it."
Everyone was left gaping at the spear hero wondering what was going through his head. On the sidelines, Myne was smiling thinking that her father was going to continue to be wrapped around her little finger. Too bad the joke was on her.
Edward glanced up at the king and Myne; eyes glowing with a hint of mischief.
"I stayed with the military for quite some time, Aultcray, and I worked with people who even came from royal or noble families myself. Princess or not, everyone will be putting in an equal amount of effort as a member of my party. There will be no slacking off. You want to be famous, you want to be rich? Better be prepared to earn it in my camp, because I am going to train you like a dog of the military. Figuratively speaking of course."
Myne stood there in fear, her father unable to figure out how to comfort her. "Hope you have great experience fighting Myne, I know you used underhanded means to get that armor. Now you are going to prove yourself worthy of it. Just like these knights here."
For the first time since getting here. Naofumi's vindictive thoughts were going to be satisfied and the king couldn't exactly do anything about it. If Edward trained as hard as he claimed to be it would be worth it to see Myne get her hands dirty.
With that in mind, he was dismissed. He intended to sell the armor Myne bought for him as it brought nothing but bad memories.
Note: Something that people need to take note of: The reason his speed, attack, and defense are so low is that even though Edward was faster, more, powerful in both attack and defense, and stronger than Motoyasu would have been in the beginning is simple. He just got his right arm and left leg back. Not to mention, according to the world's logic even when you transfer worlds, your levels are reset but you retain all your stats.
Anyone who has seen the end of FMAB final battle saw that when he got his arm back it had very little muscle on it. The same thing will go for his leg. It will take some time for him to work his way up the ladder till he gets ready for the waves. Even though Edward would be powerful to begin with in his alchemy, the teaching Izumi Curtis gave him years ago still holds true. To train your mind, you must train your body. He would need to get his body into shape so that he can begin to use it like he did before.
Of course the reason his alchemy is locked is due to the thing he said at the gate, so long as he has friends he doesn't need alchemy, while it will be needed in this story, Ed will be going through trials of his own to see how he can stand without the usage of alchemy in this world for a while.
I also apologize for the long wait. I had decided to spend Christmas with my family and had a bit of an unforgettable New Years Eve.
