Hey guys! I know, I'm not dead, crazy! But yeah, long story short I finally got back around to writing fanfics. I finally found motivation, and after watching a lot of animes I decided to write a fanfic of one of my top favs, Tokyo Ghoul! I really hope y'all like it, I'll post a new chapter every week or two, so keep an eye out for that! Thank you for checking out my story, and I hope you enjoy!

Ken Kaneki was enjoying his evening. He let out a long, relaxed sigh as he sat in his chair, looking out the window. He sipped on his coffee, just appreciating the moment. After everything that happened six years ago with G.O.A.T. and The One Eyed King business he had just been grateful to be here. Of course, there was more than just surviving to be grateful for. He smiled softly as he watched the sun set, taking one last sip of his coffee before standing up. He headed to the kitchen, where he found Touka, his wife, finishing up the dishes after dinner. He came up from behind her, wrapping one arm around her waist affectionately and giving her a soft kiss on the cheek.

"Here, let me help," Kaneki insisted, his prior smile still arching across his face as he looked down at Touka. She seemed to blush, grinning back.

"There's no need, I'm almost done anyway," she explained, then glancing down at the coffee cup in his hands she smirked. "Well maybe you can wash that one. But otherwise leave it to me, okay?"

Kaneki let out a soft laugh, nodding in agreement.

"Yeah don't worry, I'll take care of the cup," he watched patiently as Touka finished up the last dish, drying it and putting it away. Kaneki then stood at the sink, running the coffee cup under the hot water and rinsing out the brown coffee residue with a little soap. He felt Touka pat his shoulder before setting the kitchen towel next to him.

"I think you'll need that," she pointed to the towel with a scoff, laughing at her own mocking joke. Kaneki grinned in response to her gentle tease, nodding. "I'm going to check on Ichika, I'll be waiting for you in bed."

"I'll be there in just a moment," Kaneki responded, scrubbing the cup a little as he heard Touka make her way to their daughter's bedroom to make sure she was asleep. He swiftly finished washing the cup, drying it and putting it away neatly.

Never in a million years did I think that my life would be this peaceful and simple. It was only ten years ago that I was turned into a ghoul and I thought my life had ended.

Kaneki made his way to the bedroom, waiting for Touka. He got in on the right side of the bed, taking a folded white book off of the bedside table with a quiet sigh. He opened up to the page he was reading last night, pulling his reading glasses out of a drawer in the short table and putting them on.

Little did I know back then that becoming a ghoul wasn't the end of my life, but just the beginning. I had a rough start, sure. But being able to get to where I am now… it's nothing short of a miracle.

Kaneki watched as Touka entered the room, smiling as she got into bed with him.

"Are you going to stay up reading that book again?" she asked, a hint of annoyance on her voice but a cheeky grin on her face. "We're going to need to get you a headlamp if you keep doing this, it's impossible to sleep with the lights on."

"Oh don't worry, I was just waiting for you," Kaneki explained, taking off his reading glasses and tucking his book away despite just having picked them up. "I'm exhausted after last night anyway."

"Yeah, that book is going to ruin your sleep schedule," Touka said with a slight smirk, laying down and pulling the sheets over her. "So you're actually going to turn off the light tonight?"

"Yeah, no need to get fussy," Kaneki chuckled, reaching next to him for the lamp sitting on the bedside table. He turned it off with a click before sinking his head into his pillow with a huff.

It's crazy how quickly your life can change. I'm just glad mine changed for the better, whether the process to get to this point was difficult or not.

Kaneki layed in bed, looking up at the ceiling for a moment as he thought. So many memories were swirling through his mind at that moment. He wondered if he would even be able to get to sleep that night… and just as he thought that his eyes fell shut and he drifted off.

Kaneki felt the sun's warm rays of light shining down on him, and he groaned. Was it morning already? He reluctantly opened his eyes, only to be greeted by the vast blue sky. What happened, how was he outside? Kaneki quickly sat up, looking around frantically. He was in the middle of a sidewalk and several people were giving him dirty looks. They probably thought he was a homeless person or something similar, but that wasn't Kaneki's main concern. He stood up, trying to tell where he was. At first glance it looked like he was just on a random street, only a couple store buildings surrounding him. That was until he turned around.

Kaneki spun on his heels, finding himself facing an old coffee shop. However it wasn't any old coffee shop, when Kaneki saw the sign in the front his mouth dropped to the floor.

How is this possible… I thought it burned down…

The sign in front of him read "Anteiku". It was a coffee shop run by ghouls, one that Kaneki himself used to work at before it burned down during an attack from the C.C.G. Later Anteiku was turned into "Cafe :Re" by none other than Touka herself, so there was no way that it was still here… and yet Kaneki could tell he wasn't dreaming. He didn't have dreams this vivid, this… real.

Kaneki stood outside the cafe, at a complete loss for words. He had no idea what to think of this. It was physically impossible that this was real… and yet here it was, the long lost cafe from his past. He rubbed his eyes in disbelief, shaking his head.

I don't believe it… what happened? How is it that Anteiku is suddenly standing again? And how did I go from being asleep in my bedroom to being outside?

Kaneki suddenly glanced down at his clothes, realizing he was still in his pajamas. So much for his dignity…

Geez, no wonder I was getting so many dirty looks…

Kaneki looked around, checking his pockets. He didn't have any money on him, and no spare clothes at that. Was he really reduced to wearing his pajamas in broad daylight? How humiliating, he couldn't let that slide.

I'll come back to Anteiku, but first I've got to get a change of clothes.

Kaneki walked down the streets, glancing around carefully before making his way down an alleyway. He looked up to see exactly what he was hoping for: a clothesline blew gently in the breeze above him, loaded with drying laundry. The clothes still appeared to be quite a bit damp, but Kaneki didn't mind. Not that his pajamas were all that embarrassing, but needless to say there was no mistaking them for normal clothing and there was no justifying why he was strutting around Tokyo in his PJ's.

Kaneki checked around him once more to make sure no one was watching before using his kagune to reach the high-up clothesline, pulling off a shirt, pants and sweatshirt and swiftly returning to the ground. He quickly tucked his kagune away, stepping out of the alleyway and looking around slowly, monitoring the area.

Great, I've got clothes now, but where am I going to change?

Kaneki stood there a moment, catching even more disgusted and worried gazes. He bit his lip, knowing he looked like a creep stealing clothing. As if being stuck in his pajamas wasn't bad enough…

I need to at least get out of this busy street. There's no way I have a chance of getting away with this if there are this many people around…

Kaneki tucked the stolen clothes in his shirt, sprinting down the road. He didn't care how crazy he looked at this rate, he just needed to get out of here and get himself together.

After a few minutes of sprinting across the city Kaneki stopped dead in his tracks. He had made his way into a secluded park forest, and he took this opportunity to quickly change. He grabbed his pajamas, deciding to ditch them in a nearby trash can.

I'd keep them on me if I had something to carry them in, but just holding pajamas in your hands as you walk around Tokyo is weird. I don't want to turn heads or draw much attention…

Kaneki made his way out of the park and back on the sidewalk, tucking his hands in the pockets of his stolen pants. He had tied the red sweatshirt he snatched around his waist for the time being, desicing it was too hot out to wear at the moment. The pants and shirt were airy enough for him to be comfortable walking in the streets despite the sun's warmth, for which he was glad. Considering that he just picked the clothing at random he was appreciative that the odds played out in his favor.

Kaneki wasn't sure if he wanted to head back to Anteiku. He didn't want to think about what happened.

How did I wake up in the street in front of the old coffee shop?

Could it be that…

Kaneki shook that thought out of his head.

Don't be ridiculous.

Time travel isn't real… right?

I hope you all enjoyed the first chapter! I'll come out with the second one next week, in the meantime I hope you all have a blessed day / week!
