Chapter 5: Minutes Feel Like Days

Chaos is still raging in the streets as buildings continue to break down, cars continue to drive themselves, and zombies continue to attack and eat people.

In the gym, the Chipmunks, Chipettes, and everyone else is cringing in fear at what they hear.

"Every minute of this that passes feels like a day! I want this to be over," Brittany says.

"It'll end soon, don't worry," Ms. Miller says in a comforting way. Inside however, she isn't so sure as she is putting on a brave face for her girls.

The student who saw the first bit of chaos, Jack comes over to the Chipmunks and asks, "Why is this happening?"

"I wish I knew," Simon answers.

Just as he says this, the moans and growls from the zombies get louder. Theodore screams in terror when he sees the doors move as the zombies try to get into the gym.

"Those zombies are trying to get in! What do we do?!," he says in fright.

"The doors are pretty heavily barricaded, plus there's ropes and chains around the handles, so they should have a real tough time getting in," Alvin says as he rubs Theodore's back comfortingly.

"It's true," Simon adds in agreement.

"Okay, but how long will the doors hold?," Theodore asks with a pleading look on his face.

"Hopefully long enough for the eclipse to end and all this chaos to stop," Dave says.

Suddenly, there's a big thud on the roof and a loud crash on the wall.

"What was that?!," Eleanor asks.

"I think it was a tree falling on the roof," Jeanette answers.

"But what about that crash?," Brittany asks.

Alvin answers, "I'm sure it was a car that crashed into the gym."

10 more minutes pass and the sounds of screaming, sirens, and chaos still are loud and clear. The zombies still haven't given up trying to get through the doors.

Suddenly the lights flicker and a crack forms in the ceiling. Everyone gasps at the sight, then a student calls out, "There's also a crack forming on the wall!"

"Oh no! We're done for! We're all too young to die!," Alvin yells out.

Dave then says, "Alvin you'll send everyone into a panic. Please don't say that."

Alvin replies, "But this is the time to panic! The ceiling and the wall are cracking! It's only a matter of time before everything comes crashing down around us and even on top of us!"

Dave responds, "But we don't want a bunch of chaos in here right now. I know the ceiling and wall are cracking but we don't need chaos in here when there's already chaos going on outside."

"I just hope the cracks don't get longer," Theodore says.

"We all hope so," Jeanette replies.

Another 25 minutes go by and it feels like 25 years to many people in the gym.

All of a sudden, there is a cracking noise. Everyone looks at the wall and ceiling and to their horror, see the cracks expanding rapidly.

"Oh no!," Theodore cries out.

Everything then collapses around them.

After the collapse of the gym, Dave says, "Is everyone okay?"

Fortunately no one is seriously hurt, but Alvin says to Dave in a fearful tone, "We're not going to be okay for long." He points out from where they stand to show they are all surrounded by zombies.

Will everyone make it through this crisis? Please review!
