Demon Lord Jade

Ch 2: A Child Returns, Changed but Alive

Chapter two, let's go! My body is still twitchy.

UraharafanXDXDXD: It's might be slightly inspired by Slime Datta Ken

TwinstarDragon: No BakuDeku here. Jade is full on gay.

Guest Laufey (1): Jeez you're negeative. But don't worry, that's not the angle of my story. This is a Villain afterall.

Guest Laufey (2): Jade doesn't bend the knee to humans, not anymore. Nobody could stop her if she wanted to wipe out a city.

A police cruiser slowed to a stop in front of the Hosu Police Department. Both front doors swung open, and Inko and Officer Sanza stepped outside. There waiting in the artificial light of the building's bulbs was Tsuakuchi. "Sanza."

The cat nodded. Inko took a hesitant step forward. "Hello, detective." She timidly greeted nerves wreaked with fear.

"Mrs. Midoryia. Hello again. I don't know if you remember me, but I was the detective in the interrogation for the three robbers who accidentally transported your son away." Tsuakuchi said.

So that's where Inko felt the familiarity. She had spoken with him in person before. What happened was that Inko and Izuku were out to see a new movie about All Might and were part of the group taken hostage in a bank they were in to get cash. After a tense two-hour standoff, a Pro-Hero managed to sneak in and take out four of the seven villains.

However, that Hero made a mistake and turned their back to the three villains, trying to look at the injury of one of the hostages. Izuku, being the mini-hero he was, ran in between the villains and the Pro-Hero, taking the three-quirked attack. At that moment, he vanished, never to be seen again.

The following investigation and interrogation revealed that two of the three culprits had quirks ideal for robbery. One induced short-term amnesia in whoever was hit, and the other had a quirk that could send things away to a random location. Both were ideal for dealing with witnesses without killing them outright. It was the final quirk that was a bigger problem.

The third quirk Izuku was shot with caused a spike in Quirk energy for Emitter and Transformation type quirks, like Trigger, only even more dangerous and uncontrollable. If the Pro were hit with the quirk, theirs would be so powerful that the knockback of their Quirk would land them unconscious or dead, letting the villains escape. But Izuku was Quirkless, and it was unknown how his body reacted to such a quirk.

"Y-you said there was a break in my s-son's missing case?" Inko asked.

Tsukauchi nodded. "Before you worry, no, we didn't find his dead body." He stepped to the side. "Would you like to come in?"

Inko nodded as she stepped inside, slightly disappointed she wouldn't get closure. "W-what have you found?"

The detective picked up a folder from the front desk. "Before we tell you, some context is needed." The Detective cleared his throat. "Roughly five and a half hours ago, Pro-Hero Midnight responded to a call by an older lady to take in a teenage girl who seemed high. Said the teen resisted arrest and used her "Quirk" before being taken down." Tsukauchi emphasized the word "Quirk."

'Why did he use quotation marks?' Inko silently thought but didn't interpret.

"When the teen arrived at the station, our search found no ID on her, so we took a sample of her blood, both for DNA testing and to search for any drug traces. Still following?"

Inko nodded. "Yes, but what does this teen have to do with Izuku?" She asked.

Tsuakuchi hummed. "What indeed. A little over two hours ago, the DNA tests were completed, and they tested a 99.99999 repeating percent match for Izuku Midoriya. We then noticed that she looked like what young Izuku would look like as a teenage girl."

Inko sucked in a breath. Was this real?

"The biological sex change can be explained away with a Quirk. Where it gets complicated are her answers." Tsukauchi told her. "She claimed to be a Demon Lord and 765 years old. Furthermore, she spoke of a village, nation, and world we're unfamiliar with."

Inko took a deep breath. "A-are you playing a practical j-joke on me, detective?" She couldn't help but ask.

Tsukauchi shook his head. "Not at all. My quirk is Lie Detection, and I would never joke on a police case. Jade, as she claimed as her name, demonstrated at least two magic spells, one shattering the Quirk negating cuffs and the other summoning an emerald-colored fireball. Remember that we did a blood test?" Inko nodded. "Well, her blood showed no trace of a Quirk factor."

"A-are your machines just broken?" Inko questioned. "Or it was some error?"

Tsukauchi shook his head negatively. "Not likely. Our machines are on par with the most advanced hospital in the country. The odds of them giving an error are non-existent. And even if it were an error, it wouldn't explain the seemingly unrelated abilities she's shown. Midnight, before leaving, reported Ms. Jade possessed two quirks: green lightning and green fire. Combined with her strength, she had at least three distinctly different powers. While dual quirks are sometimes born, triple-quirks are not a thing. The only explanation was if she was using magic. And if she has magic, she likely lived as a Demon Lord in another branch of reality."

"…when you eliminate the impossible," Inko started.

"Whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth." Tsukauchi finished for her. He turned to the officer cat. "Sanza, please get some hot chocolate and meet us at the interrogation room. I think Lord Jade is starting to become restless."

The cat nodded and jogged off to the break room. Tsuakuchi turned back to Inko. "Listen, I know it's hard to hear, but there is a greater than zero chance that the girl we have here is your son Izuku. But we need to make sure; please follow me."

Inko silently followed him, staring at the floor as thoughts bounced around in her head. They soon arrived at the Interrogation Room.

"Mrs. Midoriya. Please look inside."

Inko slowly raised her head. Her breath hitched, and her eyes widened, taking in every detail of the girl through the one-way mirror. She looked exactly how Inko pictured Izuku would look if he was a teenage girl. It was like looking at an identical twin sister.

Inko stepped towards the door, only for her hand to be caught by Tsukauchi. "Please, before you go charging in, listen to me."

"B-but that's my…" Inko tried to argue.

"I know. But you have to keep two things in mind. The first is that she's centuries old. She might not remember you at all." A look of horror appeared on Inko's face. "During questioning, she mentioned not knowing a Japan and that All Might sounded familiar, but she couldn't place it."

Inko took a deep breath in shock. "But All Might is Izuku's favorite Hero; how could-?"

"I understand that, but that's not the same child, you know." Tsukauchi tried to reason. "My second warning is that we have no clue how Jade will react when she sees you. She could lash out, hurting you or herself. We don't know what goes in her head." Tsukauchi steadied his breathing. "Please, before you go in there, let me go in first; I'll try to ease it. If she lashes out, I'll be in danger, not you."

Inko said nothing but slowly backed away. Sanza and the chief chose to reappear at that time. "Here you go." The cat handed over the drink to Tsukauchi.

"Thank you." Tsukauchi took the drink in hand and stepped inside.

Inko's ears were filled with static, and her eyes remained trained on Jade's form. Soon, the detective waved his hand, and the Chief pushed open the door, inviting Inko in. She felt cold sweat all over her body.

"Who are you?" Those words hurt Inko more than anything had before. Tsukauchi said something Inko didn't process, and Jade focused closer on Inko.

After a tense moment, a spark of recognition could be seen in those physically younger green eyes. Jade's smile fell as a subtle horror set in. A tear formed in one eye. "Mama?" That word. Inko was certain. It was her baby.

Jade's eyes suddenly drooped as her head swayed. Inko, in a moment of panic, threw herself on the floor and caught her child before Jade could hit the ground from the fainting spell. "IZUKU!" Inko cried out as tears freely flowed.

She clutched her precious treasure with all her strength. "You came back. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you." Inko wetly mumbled as she stared at her child's unconscious form.

"Mrs. Midoriya." She didn't hear. "Mrs. Midoriya." Again, she didn't listen. "MRS. MIDORIYA!" A hand grabbed onto her shoulder, catching her attention. Tsukauchi looked down. "Please, let go of her."

"NO!" Inko screamed her refusal. "I already lost him once! I'm not going to let go and lose him all again! Please, just let me hold on." She pleaded with the cops.

In her lap, Jade's face twisted as her eyes fluttered open. "Mama?"

Inko nearly broke her neck with how fast her head turned down. "Izuku?"

Jade gave a tired smile before looking away. "Not anymore. I haven't been Izuku since I was hit with that spell at fifteen. As weird as it sounds, I don't mind being a girl." She told her mother in an almost whisper.

Inko sniffed. "Ok. Ok." She lowered down and hugged her son daughter tightly. "I don't care who or what you are; you'll always be my child."

Sometime later, Jade sat on a couch held by her mother, who had buried her face in Jade's cloak. She looked at the tired woman and gently smiled, the first in centuries. "Mom, please let go." She asked.

Inko mumbled something in the negative, still clutching on. If anything, Inko just hugged harder. "Mom, please. You need to breathe." Jade wasn't too worried about being squeezed of oxygen.

Tsukauchi, standing nearby, chose to activate a recorder on hand at this moment. He felt the need on sheer instinct alone.

"Mom, I don't deserve this. If anything, you should hate me." Inko finally let go before cupping Jade's face.

"Izu-Jade. Listen to me. You are my child. There is nothing in the world and nothing you can say that will make me hate you." Inko said in a quiet tone, dropping her hands.

Jade just awkwardly looked away. "Mom, I'm not a good person. Not anymore."

Inko looked sad. "You wanted to be a Hero. Do you want to talk about what changed?"

Against Demon Lord Jade's better judgment, she decided to unload then and there. "It's a very long story."

Inko wistfully smiled. "I have time. I already told my boss I wouldn't be in today."

Jade looked down and took a deep breath. "I guess I should start at the beginning. When those three quirks hit me, I was sent to a woodsy forest with nothing but the clothes I had on and only my first name to remember. I was found by a hunting party and brought to the nearby village. Nobody claimed me, so a kind older couple took me in as their own."

Inko didn't dare interrupt. Tsukauchi mouthed the word, 'Truth' to the mother. "They lived alone, as their three children had grown up and moved out at sixteen. It was a tranquil life until… my adoptive mother fell ill when I was eleven. With no healer in the village and the nearest one two days away on horseback, she soon died, leaving only me and my adoptive father. But… that was just the beginning of the downward spiral to my life."

Jade looked up, collecting her thoughts. "When I was fourteen, war broke out between the Nation of Albersa and a neighboring Demon Lord. Everyone between thirteen and thirty-five was conscripted to fight. Including me." Inko sucked in a breath. Her child went to war? "I only participated in five battles, but my strength, talent with magic, and intelligence impressed my superiors, and by the time I turned fifteen, I was a battlefield commander. Someone in charge of coordinating soldiers."

"It was a few months after, but I got into a one-on-one with a demon. I had nearly taken its head when it hit me with a last-ditch spell. Unfortunately, I was too fast and decapitated the demon simultaneously when the spell hit me." Jade paused and studied her hand. "When I next woke up, I was in a female body. Later research showed that only the caster of that specific spell could undo it. I was stuck as a girl."

Jade huffed as Inko hugged her again. "Thanks. At first, I was upset and angry, but I learned to accept it. But it wasn't easy. Periods hurt like hell." Inko couldn't help but snort in agreement. "Eventually, I grew comfortable enough to just stick to female pronouns and a female name. Most of the men in the army were skeptical or outright offended by the idea of letting a woman lead an army, but the ones who were confident in my ability were the soldiers I served with. They all trusted me inexplicably."

Jade smiled. "My presence and success led to military reforms, allowing females to serve, leading to a cascade of other lines of work relaxing their policies on female workers. I had unintentionally kicked off a women's rights movement by my presence alone." Inko smiled but dropped it when Jade sagged. "At the time, I thought life wasn't so bad. Only to receive devastating news. A few weeks before my seventeenth birthday, I was scheduled to visit home, my adoptive father, as well as a few other farmers, lost their lives to a demonized bear. Some kind of sick experiment by the very Demon Lord we were fighting." Jade clenched her fist in anger. Inko tried to ease Jade's pain by rubbing her back.

"I'm not proud of how I processed that news. I decided then and there to end the life of the Demon Lord, even if it cost me my own in turn. I ignored the chain of command, and my soldiers followed after me, loyalty at its finest. After scouting, I devised a plan, and our group stormed the Demon Lord's castle, ready to kill or die trying." Jade took a deep breath. "By the time we arrived, half of my men had perished, and the other half were exhausted, but we pushed on. In the hard battle, but I eventually struck a killing blow to the Demon Lord by enhancing my blade with a simple Holy Magic spell. One anyone could learn."

"The followers of the fallen Demon Lord immediately made a break for it, but I wasn't satisfied. I ordered the remaining soldiers to kill them all. I was tired, and nearly three-quarters of my men lost their lives, but the ones who remained cheered my name and called me a "True Hero," if you can believe it." Jade said with a light smile. "The command of the military was furious with me, and I rightfully deserved it, but before I could be stripped of my rank and titles and thrown in prison for insubordination, the King and the Pope heard of my unofficial title, coming to my rescue."

Inko smiled. This story wasn't so bad. "To garner further support from the common people, I was officially given the title of True Hero. And because magic reacts to official titles, I gained more strength when I was pronounced as such. I trained for the next three years until my twentieth birthday when I was deployed to fight."

Jade sighed, tired. "The following five years were spent fighting with minor rest. I even slayed two more Demon Lords in single combat. My name became a worldwide one, and people praised me on the street. Children adored me, and I often received benefits like free food for all my work. But, deep in the hearts of many, fear began to take root. And fear leads to Envy and Hate." Jade's eyes seemed to dull a moment.

Inko blinked. "That sounds very bad."

"It was," Jade said nonchalantly. "People began to question why I had so much power, and they did not. They started to hate me for just doing a job forced on me. The King, fearing loss of support from the people like the coward he was, hatched a plan to appease both those who still supported me and those who hated me. He would sign my death warrant under false pretenses of a mission."

Tsukauchi fought hard not to stumble at that. It was all true and horrifying. It would be like the Japanese Government sending All Might to die. Jade paid no attention to him. "I, along with ten of the finest soldiers and mages, would set off to liberate a small town on the border from another Demon Lord's control. At least, that was the official mission. Once we were far enough from the capital, those ten caught me off guard and attacked me, boasting about how the King ordered my death."

Inko looked exceptionally horrified. "I took out four of them, but the other six managed to wound me enough to be considered fatal. It was only due to my stronger body and the awakening of a new skill that I survived that attack. I was officially dead, and my body had been left to rot." Inko cried as she hugged her daughter, trying to comfort the Demon Lord. Jade just sat there, hearing Inko weep. "For ten years, I wandered around as a nameless vagabond. One day, I visited the capital, ironically, on the anniversary of my death. I mingled in the crowd, my face obscured with a hood and scarf. And the King arrived with an entourage carrying something heavy and tarped. I stopped and watched among a group of people."

Jade suddenly looked bitter and angry, something Inko noted almost instantly. "Once the big thing was up, I saw it was a statute of me, decked out in my armor. The King decreed that the day of my death would be a national holiday to honor my life, legacy, and sacrifices." Jade's hand trembled as her form filled with rage. "How dare he. He promised his full support, STABBED me in the back, then DARED to use my likeness to my advantage for his POLITICAL GAIN?! I LITERALLY SACRIFICED MY LIFE FOR HUMANITY, AND HE DARED SUCH AN ACTION?!" Jade was now full-blown yelling, magic power falling off in waves. It was so potent that Inko and Tsukauchi saw visions of their own deaths.

Jade's breathing sped up, which soon ended as [Mental Fortitude] kicked in. Jade just sighed again once she was calm, steming the flow of magic. "Sorry about that. Lost my composure. But, later that day, after some time to think, I decided to just throw the world one big fuck you. The next day, I approached the castle entrance and slipped right in. I went to the throne room, where the King and his council met weekly. Anyone who tried to stop me was cut down without a second thought." Inko looked down, feeling sympathy for her daughter and a little fear. She was only human, after all.

In the past:

Izaki kicked down the door, her face shadowed by her hood. Being dragged by her right hand, tearing up the carpet, was a rusty sword she picked up off a corpse.

The King hastily stood up. "What is the meaning of this?! Who are you?! GUARDS!"

Izaki couldn't help but smile. "Do you recognize my voice, your majesty?" She asked in a mocking tone.

"…No?" A bead of sweat dripped down the King's head.

"Then how about my face?" Izaki looked up, and her face became visible to the King.

The Monarch gasped in horror as the council recoiled. "You?! But… I was told you had perished!"

"I did, didn't I?" Izaki's dull and tired eyes looked to her side as if something had caught her eye. "If it weren't for luck, I wouldn't be here. But, me being here is bad for you." She turned back towards the group of nine.

"GUARDS? GUARDS!" The King called out.

Izaki merely snapped her fingers, and a barrier surrounded the room. "Sorry, but I killed anyone who tried to stop me on the way in." Her dead eyes bore holes into the King. "Until I die, no one gets in or out."

What followed next was several minutes of Izaki unloading everything she repressed, slowly torturing the nine people to death. It was therapeutic hearing them scream and watching them bleed. Once all were dead, Izaki just dropped to her knees, spending an unknown amount of time staring at the final face the King would ever make: one of horror.

"Ke." Izaki's shoulder shook. "Hehe." Her arms trembled as her nose flared. "Huff, huff." Her teeth clenched as her face slowly grew a smile. "Heh. Heh. Hehe. HEHEHE. HEHEHEHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" Finally, kneeling in the pool of blood, Izaki only laughed, looking at her bloody hands in exhilaration.

"Hehe. I see it. I see it so clearly." Madness filled her form as she lost her mind. "Humanity saw fit to reject me. So why shouldn't I reject humanity in turn?" She asked the non-existent ghosts.

Izaki grasped the head of the King and held it up. "Your Majesty, thank you!" Tears flowed from Izaki's eyes as her smile started to hurt. "I was never meant to be a True Hero. I was always meant to be a Demon Lord! Thank you! Thank you for opening my eyes! You've single-handedly given rise to a new Demon Lord!" She could practically kiss him. If she wasn't gay, that was.

Jade looked down. "Over the next few years, I collected the blood of various demons and mixed them all together before drinking the vile concoction. The next week was the most hellish pain imaginable, and anybody else with a weaker body would've died, but by the end of it all, I ceased being human altogether. I was more demon than human, so I dubbed myself a Demonoid." Jade smiled. "I felt it appropriate to grant myself a new name to truly kill the remnants of my past. Jade, for the brilliant green-tinted magic I used. For my first act as a Demonoid, I singlehandedly razed the entire country of Albersa to the ground, which had barely survived after the King's death. An estimated seventy percent of the humans were wiped out, and the rest fled like rats on a sinking ship. I took the King's castle as my own, and soon, various non-humans entered my domain, seeking to serve me in exchange for a portion of power."

Inko looked rightfully horrified but did not move away, greatly surprising Jade. So the Demon Lord continued. "Shortly after that, I was approached by another Demon Lord, who invited me to a conference. At that very place, four of the seven then-Demon Lords approved my ascension to the position, and I became the youngest Demon Lord in history at the mere age of thirty-eight. From then on, the years just blurred. I acted in my capacity as a Ruler, took over a few neighboring countries, fought wannabe heroes, and even got a girlfriend in one of the other Demon Lords. Unfortunately, she and I had to split for political reasons, which was a shame, as I was thinking about proposing, but it just wasn't meant to be. We're still good friends, though." Jade reminisced those eight years she dated that beautiful mermaid.

"Would you like to tell me more?" Inko asked hesitantly.

Jade shook her head, yawning. "Nah. I'm tired, kinda want to doze off for a solid day."

Tsukauchi frowned as he switched off his recorder. This was very, very bad. Jade clearly wasn't interested in humanity beyond the territory they could provide. But he couldn't arrest her without intent, and Japan had no existing expedition treaty with this other world, so that was also a bust. Finally, All Might alone might not even be enough to take her down. But, the Number 1 Hero did have connections. Maybe Jade could be taken down with the assistance of a few other top Heroes of the world.

Best to get this recording to All Might, Nighteye, and Gran Torino. And Nezu. He'll definitely want to see this. Tsukauchi might be breaking the law by doing this, but it was better to be in prison than to see everyone dead.

Nine hours later, Jade followed her mother into their apartment. Her paperwork was in a state of limbo, as Izuku was declared legally dead two years prior. She had nothing to do publicly until it was changed and her details were modified to fit her current needs.

She slowly traced her finger on an old doorframe with little tally marks for her younger self. A wave of nostalgia overcame her, and she stood up against the post with a light smile. Inko stared momentarily but was soon overjoyed and fished out a pen from a cup on the desk. Inko stood on her tiptoes and drew a line. Inko then jotted Jade's name, the current date, and the Demon Lord's age, which was a shocking 765, but Inko would adjust to that fact of life.

Jade walked down the hallway and stopped at her old bedroom door. She took a deep breath and swung the door open. The room looked just how it was that day they left for the theaters. The bed was obviously too small, but the place was shockingly low in dust.

"I cleaned in there once a month," Inko mentioned from the hallway, watching Jade walk around the room. "Sorry, I'll have to get you a new bed, but I hope your room works."

Jade held up an All Might figure and rubbed her thumb on the face before setting it down. "No need." She turned and held up her hand. Jade activated the [Transmogrification] spell and shaped the bed into a twin-size mattress.

"Oh. Well, that's useful." Inko noted.

Jade shrugged. "It's not ideal, as I have to divert magic to keep it in this shape, but I have more than enough to keep it up for a few days. More than enough time to get a new one." Then, an idea came to mind. "Say, we never did see that movie, did we? Think there's an online version?"

Inko gasped. "Great idea! I'll grab my laptop and look. Meet me on the couch in a bit." Jade's mother then rushed off.

Jade smiled, gently closing the door. Her smile fell once the door shut. 'Sorry, Mom, but I have work to do as a Demon Lord.'

She turned and held out her hand. "Summon [Braxi] and [Leooch]," Jade commanded, her shadow stretching in two different directions.

A wolfman and a green-skinned demon rose from the shadows, kneeling. "My lord." They spoke as one. "We are your humble servants."

They raised their heads and looked around, confused. "Odd, this world is lacking in most ambient magic." Leooch, the green demon noted.

Braxi, the wolfman, sniffed around. "I don't smell any Demi-Humans. And my Lord, may I question why you are in a human body?"

"Welcome to my world of origin. This world exists far away from Lagurdia." Jade waved her arms. "And this… is my old room from when I was a mere tot. When I returned here, I was forced into a human body. But my demon blood still flows. You may rise."

The two nodded and stood up. "By your command."

Jade smiled. "Excellent. You two. There is a green-haired, green-eyed woman in her middle ages in this dwelling. She is my biological mother. If I ever assign you to shadow her, you are to protect her with your lives and eliminate anyone with intent to harm her."

"Your mother?" Leooch asked in disbelief. "How did a human live this long?"

"Turns out there's some time fuckery going on. A year here is a century back in Lagurdia." Jade explained.

"Well, that would explain why you were missing for a few weeks." Leooch pointed out.

Jade nodded. "Which leads to my next order. Braxi, I want you and the development team to begin work on a gateway that will allow for travel between these two worlds. One that also synchronizes the time of both." She ordered.

"May I ask what for, my Lord?" The wolfman asked.

"I'll answer that question with another. Look outside the window." He did so. "What do you see out there?"

"A… very advanced human world," Braxi said after a couple of moments. "What is this place?"

"A world in many ways more advanced than Lagurdia." Jade casually said. "When I look out there, I see a world ripe to be taken. A world that needs a new ruler. It's my world. Why shouldn't I rule it?" A demented grin spread across Jade's human face.

The two servants looked at each other for a moment. "We live to serve." They both took a knee, and Jade returned them with a satisfied smile.

She looked outside the window. "Look out, world, your Demon Lord has arrived." She said under her breath.

"I FOUND THE MOVIE!"

"Coming, Mom!"
