Lily soothingly rubbed her pregnant belly and carefully regulated her breathing to stave off her incoming panic attack. Dumbledore had just told the Longbottoms and the Potters about the prophecy, urging the two families to go into hiding under the Fidelius charm. James and Lily were staying in their cottage with Peter Pettigrew as their secret keeper as they knew Sirius was too obvious of a choice. Lily still felt uneasy and was certain that it was only a matter of time before Voldemort found them despite the charm. James tried to reassure her that they were safe, but she knew there was a spy in the Order and their location would eventually be leaked. Lily stopped rubbing her belly as she realized a way to protect her son from Voldemort.
The summer after she'd graduated from Hogwarts, she'd gone on vacation with her family to a small town in the United States and had accidentally entered a strange new world known as the Boiling Isles. She had befriended a teenager her age named Raine Whispers and had even invited them to her wedding. It broke her heart to go through with her plan, but she was determined to save her son's life even if she wouldn't be a part of it. Lily just needed an opportunity to go back to America so she could return to the Boiling Isles using the portal she'd found almost two years ago. As if answering her prayers, her parents invited her to go on a vacation to America and she quickly accepted. Her older sister Petunia had also been invited, but she'd just recently given birth and was taking care of her newborn son Dudley.
James hadn't liked that she was leaving the house, but she had reassured him that she would be safe while in the United States as Voldemort hadn't been able to get any spies in the country despite his best efforts. Just in case someone accidentally let something slip, James hadn't told any of his friends where Lily was going and she'd managed to leave Britain without any issues. She spent the first few days with her parents before letting them know that the friend she had made while in America a few years ago had invited her to a private resort and spa for the next 4 days. They had told her to have fun and she had quickly left, immediately heading to Raine's home as soon as she had returned to the Boiling Isles. She knocked on the front door and waited for Raine to let her inside, making sure her cloak still hid her figure from view.
"Lily?" Raine questioned before quickly letting her inside when they saw the desperate look in her eyes, "Is everything alright?"
Lily could no longer hold in her tears and started sobbing. She quickly told her friend everything that had been happening in her life since they'd last seen one another and then begged for them to raise her child as their own. She had gotten everything she would need for this very moment: a potion to induce labor, labor pain potions, a blood adoption potion, potions to help speed up recovery after birth, and a false pregnancy potion that would make it seem as if she was still pregnant with a lifeless copy of her child so she could successfully fake a stillbirth. Raine was hesitant, but agreed with their friend's request. They'd quickly used a few drops of their blood for the blood adoption potion before grabbing a vial of their ex-girlfriend's blood and using a few drops of it for the potion. Their ex-girlfriend's mother had given Raine the vial of Eda's blood for safe-keeping for some secretive reason and they felt guilty for using it without permission, but Eda had been the only person they had been intimate with. Raine needed for it to be believable that they had had a child in secret in the correct timeframe of conception and birth. Lily had quickly used the potion to induce labor and a labor pain potion. A few hours and several potions later, Lily gave birth to a beautiful baby boy.
Lily stared at her son lovingly before handing the boy to Raine, "Please fed him the potion. It's best to have him drink it as soon as possible so he won't feel anything other than some mild discomfort at the changes his body will undergo with the change in parentage."
Raine stared sadly at their friend, but they complied with her request. Raine watched in awe as their new son slowly changed before their eyes, his skin taking on a darker skin tone like their own and their hair color. His hair was more wild, much like Eda's, and Raine stifled a gasp when their son's eyes opened to reveal the same golden eyes as Eda.
"He's perfect." They whispered to themself before turning their attention back to their friend, "What's his name?"
They wanted to keep at least part of the name Lily had chosen, knowing just how hard giving her son up for his safety was.
"Hadrian." Lily whispered.
Raine smiled softly, "It suits him. Little Hadrian Lillian Whispers."
Lily choked back tears at the name Raine had chosen for their son, "Thank you! For everything."
She spent the next few days recovering with the help of the potions before downing the false pregnancy potion on her final day in the Boiling Isles. She quickly returned to her parents, looking exactly the same as she had when she'd been pregnant and did her best to enjoy her time with her parents. However, as soon as they returned to Britain, tragedy struck and the family got into a car accident. Lily had survived and woke up in a muggle hospital with the news that both her parents had died on impact and that the doctors had done all they could, but had been unable to save her child. Lily had burst into tears at the news of her parents death and the doctor had asked if there was anyone she could call. She gave them her sister's phone number and Petunia had rushed to the hospital. For the first time in almost a decade, Petunia had put aside all the resentment she felt towards Lily and comforted her baby sister as she sobbed in her arms. Petunia took care of everything, contacting Lily's husband for her as she planned the funeral for both their parents and Lily's son.
James had been devastated by the news, but had stubbornly held back his tears as he stroked his wife's hair as she wailed against him. A few weeks later, the Potters attended the joint funeral of the Evans couple and Harry Potter. She stared blankly as her parents were lowered into the ground alongside a small coffin for her son. The other members of the Order gave the Potters their condolences and life slowly moved on for the Potters. Neville Longbottom was born July 31st at 11:59 pm, cementing his place as the prophecy child. On Halloween night, a little over a year after Neville's birth, Voldemort found the Longbottom's home and went to destroy his prophesied enemy. Voldemort quickly killed Frank and Alice Longbottom but, against all odds, Neville had survived with nothing more than a scratch on his forehead in the shape of a lightning bolt. Somehow, Voldemort had been reduced to ash with only his wand and robes remaining where he had once stood.
The Potters fought Augusta Longbottom for custody of Neville as they were his godparents and Neville's parents had wanted the Potters to raise their son if anything ever happened to them. Augusta argued that he was her last link to her son and refused to relinquish custody of her only grandson to the Potters despite it being the Longbottom couple's final wishes. Before the matter of custody was settled, the Lestrange family and Barty Crouch jr. tortured Augusta Longbottom in the hopes of finding out what her son and daughter-in-law had done to their master. Thankfully, the aurors had managed to get to the Longbottom manor before the death eaters thought about hurting Neville and the Potters were quickly given custody of their godson. Around this time, Lily discovered that she was once again pregnant and James was ecstatic with the news. James remained overprotective of Lily and their unborn child throughout her entire pregnancy, paranoid that something horrible would happen if he wasn't close by to help her if she needed him. He only truly relaxed when she gave birth to their second son, staring at their child in silent awe at how tiny he was.
Their son had his wild hair and shared many of his features, but had his mother's coloring. Lily and James had decided that James would chose their second child's name while Lily would get to name their third child if they decided to have another one. James had decided to name him Jamie Harrison Potter, Jamie for his own name and Harrison for their son that never got to grow up. Neville adored his new baby brother and a few years later the Potters had another child, a daughter that Lily named Raine Wisteria Potter. Raine for her dear friend and Wisteria to keep her family's tradition of giving the girls in their family a flower name. The reason she specifically chose the flower Wisteria to name her daughter after was because of how close it sounded to Raine's last name Whispers. Once Neville started Hogwarts, it seemed as though their godson's life was constantly in danger. Year after year, James and Lily did their best to protect their family.
The two managed to stop most of the harmful articles written by Rita Skeeter from the Daily Prophet and sued the paper for writing about a child without getting their guardian's permission for any article they hadn't managed to stop in time. They then forced the Daily Profit to retract the article with an apology to the readers for releasing inaccurate information. The Potter couple were able to get Neville out of having to participate in the Triwizard tournament and get Dolores Umbridge arrested for forcing children to use blood quills to write lines. Their continued efforts caused quite a few of Voldemort's plans to fail and even led the two to discover the existence of a horcrux hiding inside Neville's scar. With the help of the goblins, they managed to safely remove Voldemort's horcrux from Neville before destroying the object they placed it in using Fiendfyre. The goblins agreed to help find and destroy the rest of the horcrux as long as they got to keep whatever valuable object it may be contained in. The goblins gained three of the four Hogwarts artifacts as well as the Lestrange family vault thanks to the deal, leaving the goblins very satisfied and causing Sirius to cackle in vindictive glee when he found out about it.
"It's the least they deserve for what they did during the war. They'll be horrified once they find out that their entire fortune would be going to the goblins they looked down upon. Bella will definitely scream in rage!" Sirius told his friends as he continue cackling.
They were able to thankfully rid Voldemort of all his horcrux, including his snake Nagini, and Neville managed to defeat a weakened Voldemort. Life went on and Neville's position as the wizarding world's savior was cemented in history. Lily and James were able to live a long, fulfilling life and got to see their great-grandchildren's birth. The couple died surrounded by loved ones and Lily Potter took her secret with her to her grave.
AN: I changed up the Harry Potter timeline so it would work for this fic. This is also the last time I focus on the wizarding world and will be focusing on the boiling isles, starting at episode 6 of the 2nd season and just briefly glossing over some of the other episodes beforehand.
