Chapter 4

Return to Danville Part 2

Ever since they returned to Danville, Molly and Libby have had nothing but bad luck all day! They had both been chased by Heartless throughout town and dealt with unfortunate effects from Murphy's Law. If that wasn't bad enough, they were now face to face with one of their enemies, who they never thought they would see again.

"Dr. Doofenshmirtz?" Molly and Libby said in unison.

"Wait, you two already know Dr. D?" Zack asked, surprised.

Soon, Doofenshmirtz took one look at Molly and Libby and immediately recognized them. "Hey, I remember you! You are the Bloodhound of Truth and the Bloodhound of Truth's girlfriend!"

"Something tells me that you two have some history with Dr. D." Melissa commented.

"Well, it's kind of a long story." Libby explained. "Let's just say that we didn't meet Doofenshmirtz on the best of terms."

"We hope that you're still not mad at us for destroying your Darkness-Inator." Molly hoped.

Doofenshmirtz waved a dismissive hand in response. "Nah! I don't really care about that anymore! I'm actually making my inators to be a good guy from now on! Besides, that Darkness-Inator was my worst idea yet! I hope to never see another Heartless ever again!"

Both, Molly and Libby silently glanced at one another, neither of them sure of how to explain to Doofenshmirtz that the Heartless were back.

"Um, about that-"

Before Molly could say another word, the front door suddenly burst open and two men stepped inside. One of them was a British man, who looked like he came from the 1700s. He had grey hair and a mustache, and wore a dark green coat and pair of pants, along with a dark green hat and pair of googles resting on his head. The other man was a man with curly hair who looked as though he dressed like someone from the 1970s as he wore a red and yellow tracksuit and had a pair of goggles over his eyes.

Upon noticing the men, Milo gave a smile as he seemed to recognize them. "Oh, hey, Cavendish and Dakota! What brings you two here?" Milo asked his time traveling friends.

"Well, maybe so food if you have any for us, Milo." The man in the tracksuit casually replied.

"Take this seriously, Dakota." The British man named, Cavendish lectured his friend before bringing his attention back to everyone else. "I'm afraid that we are in serious trouble. Dakota and I took a stroll through Danville to buy a couple of corndogs, only to get attacked by these mysterious creatures. I have never seen anything like them."

At that moment, Molly and Libby took a look at one another before sharing a silent nod, knowing exactly what Cavendish was referring to.

"Uh, do the creatures look like shadow monsters with yellow eyes?" Molly asked.

"You are half correct." Cavendish replied. "While the creatures we encountered did have yellow eyes, they appeared to be more dark-green in color and had plant-like features. Almost pistachio-like."

As Cavendish said that, the whole room stayed silent as everyone appeared to be frightened by something. At first, Molly and Libby had no idea why everyone seemed worried all of a sudden, but they soon remembered when Milo mentioned the time he fought a bunch of pistachio-like creatures.

The silence was soon broken when Melissa asked. "Wait, are you saying that the Pistachions might be back? How is that possible? We already defeated Derek and the rest of the Pistachions."

"We can't really say for sure. If they are indeed back, we need to figure out what changed in the timeline. Unfortunately, since Dakota and I have been fired from the Bureau of Time Travel, we'll never be able to figure out what happened." Cavendish explained.

"Never say never!" Dakota said with a sly grin, taking out a tiny device.

Cavendish's eyes widened in shock as he seemed to recognize it. "Is that a portable time traveling device? Dakota, I demand to know where you got that from!"

"I may or may not have borrowed it from Brick and Savannah."

"You mean you stole it!" Cavendish accused.

"Eh, tomato, tomoto." Dakota casually replied.

This led to Cavendish and Dakota arguing with one another. While Molly didn't condone stealing from others, she knew that this time traveling device would be necessary to figuring out what is going on with the Heartless.

"Excuse me." Molly got Cavendish and Dakota's attention before they could argue anymore. "Cavendish and Dakota, was it? Listen, I know that stealing is wrong, but we might need this device if we are going to save Danville."

"See? That girl understands!" Dakota told Cavendish.

"However!" Molly interrupted. "Stealing is still stealing, so once we are done, you two are going to return the device to your friends and apologize for taking it!"

Cavendish took a moment to ponder Molly's idea before he gave in. "Very well. Dakota and I will go back in time to the point where we defeated Derek and see what went wrong."

While Cavendish and Dakota got ready to travel back in time, Doofenshmirtz decided to join everyone as well.

"So, we're fighting those Pistachion guys again? I'll see if Perry the Platypus wants to come with us!" Doofenshmirtz left the house to get in contact with Perry.

"I guess that just leaves us." Libby noticed. "Maybe we should handle any Heartless while everyone else figures out what is going on in Danville."

"Good idea!" Molly agreed before summoning her keyblade.

"Well, count us in! Melissa, Zack, and I can help you two out however we can!" Milo assured.

The moment Milo stepped forward, a nearby lamp suddenly fell and shattered on the floor. As much as they liked Milo and the others, Molly and Libby didn't think that bringing them around would be the best idea.

"Actually, Milo, it might be for the best if you stay here while Molly and I deal with the Heartless on our own." Libby suggested.

"I agree with Libby." Zack spoke up. "We wouldn't want to get in their way."

"Not to mention that they seem to know a lot more about the Heartless than we do." Melissa explained.

"Well, if that's what you want. Molly. Libby. I wish you luck!" Milo smiled.

"Thanks, Milo!" Molly waved goodbye before she and Libby left the house.

At that moment, Molly and Libby made their way through Danville with Chirithy now visible since no one was around. As they searched for any Heartless causing trouble, Molly and Libby thought back to all the time they spend in Danville. They thought that since this was a world they were familiar with, this would have been like their last adventure, but their new adventure was anything but predictable.

The moment they arrived in Danville, Molly and Libby had dealt with all kinds of bad luck from Murphy's Law, met two time travelers, and even had an encounter with Dr. Doofenshmirtz. As crazy as today was, Molly and Libby didn't let it distract them from protecting Danville from the Heartless.

"So, I don't understand. Didn't you once tell me that Dr. Doofenshmirtz was one of your enemies?" Chirithy asked.

"Kind of." Libby replied. "To be honest, he probably wouldn't have even made his Darkness-Inator if Xehanort hadn't tricked him in doing so."

"Yeah. Even though he was one of our enemies, Doofenshmirtz really didn't seem like that bad of a guy, especially compared to all of the other villains Libby and I faced in our last adventure." Molly explained before she took notice of her surroundings. "Hey, is it just me, or does this place seem a little plant-like?"

Everyone looked around to see plant roots scattered all across the ground. Curious they all stepped further into a clearing of what they assumed used to be a garden. The further they progressed, the more roots began to surround the area. Right in the center stood a mysterious object surrounded by roots.

"What is that?" Molly asked.

"I don't know, but I don't like the looks of it." Chirithy carefully observed their surroundings as if they were afraid something might pop out any second.

Curious, Molly slowly approached the plant-like object, causing Libby to call out for her.

"Molly, be careful! Something about this doesn't seem right." Libby started to feel just as nervous as Chirithy.

"Don't worry, guys! It's just a plant! How bad can it-"

Molly didn't even get a chance to finish her sentence before the plant suddenly popped out of the ground with a roar. The plant soon revealed itself to be a giant Heartless plant monster with long roots for arms and was covered in green fur. Both Molly and Libby gulped as the creature gazed at them with its yellow eyes.

"L-Libby?" Molly stuttered.

"Yeah?"

"Do you think that is one of the Heartless-Pistacion hybrids Cavendish and Dakota encountered?"

"If it is, then we need to stop it!" Libby declared, summoning her keyblade.

"Be careful, you two! This doesn't look like any Heartless you have fought before! Good luck!" Chirithy wished their friends luck.

Once Molly summoned her keyblade as well, she and Libby got ready for battle as the Pistachion Heartless charged forward. It swung its long root arms, to which Molly and Libby leaped over and swung their keyblades at the monster.

The keyblades barely hurt the Pistacion Heartless at all, so it swung its root arms once again, knocking Molly and Libby back. After the girls got back up, they decided to hit the Heartless with magic instead. Raising their keyblades, they casted fire magic, causing the Heartless to screech as it was consumed by flames.

Desperate, the Heartless jumped into the air and landed on the ground to put out the flames. The impact of the jump was so powerful, it caused some of the surviving flowers to pop up and release pollen in the air. Molly and Libby soon found it hard to focus, thanks to the effects of the pollen as they both started to sneeze.

"Wh-What is going o-o- achoo!" Molly sneezed before she could even finish her sentence.

"It must be the pollen! Achoo! I can barely see a thing." Libby's eyes started to water because of her allergies.

With Molly and Libby distracted, the Heartless wrapped its roots around the two of them and threw them across the other side of the garden. Now exhausted, Molly and Libby slowly got up with their keyblades shaking in their hands.

"Molly, I hate to say this, but we might need a little help." Libby suggested.

"You might be right." Molly agreed before taking out Sprig's summon gem.

Molly raised the gem in the air before Sprig appeared in a flash of light. Now ready to fight, Sprig held his slingshot in the air with rocks as ammo.

"Hey, Molly and Libby! So, what are we up against?" Sprig asked.

"Uh." Molly and Libby pointed behind Sprig.

The pink frog turned around and his eyes widened in terror upon noticing the giant Heartless.

"Oh, it's this guy, isn't it?"

"Sorry." Molly apologized. "Libby and I did our best to fight him."

"It's no problem!" Sprig assured. "Anne and I used to fight creatures like that back in Amphibia all the time! Just watch!"

With that, Sprig hopped in front of the giant Heartless before aiming with his slingshot. Before the Heartless could make a move, Sprig launched a couple of rocks in its eyes, temporarily blinding the Heartless. Seeing their chance, Molly and Libby rushed forward and finished off the Heartless by attacking it with their most powerful fire spells.

With one last screech, the Heartless fell to the ground as it was reduced to nothing but ashes. Once the Heartless was defeated, the surrounding garden turned to a brighter shade of green as flowers of all colors popped out of the ground.

Molly, Libby, and Sprig watched in awe as the flowers rose up and scattered in the air, flying high above Danville.

"Sweet baby corn! This is incredible!" Molly exclaimed.

"Thank you, Sprig! Molly and I couldn't have done it without you!" Libby thanked her frog friend.

"I was glad to help! Just call me again and I'll help you with any more of those Heartless jerks! See ya!" Sprig waved goodbye before return to his summon gem.

Now that their tough fight was over, Molly and Libby took a moment to admire the beautiful sight of the flowers in the sky as they embraced each other in their arms.

"I can't believe that this garden used to be so beautiful! I'm glad that we restored it back to its former glory." said Libby.

"Me too, Libby! And with these flowers flying through town, it feels my heart with joy, knowing that we just enhappified everyone in Danville!" Molly smiled.

Meanwhile, a married couple was standing outside a flower shop with the wife yelling at her husband.

"I can't believe that you opened up a flower shop and didn't bother to get any flowers! What, did you think an enormous supply of flowers was just going to fall out of the sky?"

The moment the wife asked that question, she was suddenly buried in a pile of flowers, thanks to Molly and Libby's actions.

"Yes." The husband replied.

"No need to be sarcastic with me." The wife said, her voice muffled under the pile of flowers.

Back with Molly and Libby, the girls took a moment to relax as they both laid down on the ground next to all of the now blooming flowers. After letting of a yawn, Molly stood up before stretching her arms. She soon heard Libby giggling, much to her confusion.

"What is it, Libby?" Molly raised a confused eyebrow.

"Just look what's on you!" Libby laughed, pointing at Molly's hair.

Molly looked up to see that a bunch of flowers got stuck to her hair. It was at that moment when Molly started to laugh as well before she thought of an idea. She raised up her arms and rearranged the flowers to form a flower crown.

With her flower crown finished, Molly reached down on the ground and gathered more flowers before placing another flower crown on Libby's head. With a couple of smiles, Molly and Libby held each others hands before kissing each other on the lips. Before long, Chirithy showed up to decide on what to do next.

"So, now that the Heartless is defeated, do you think we should go back to plan our next move?" Chirithy asked.

"You might be right, Chirithy! Come on, Molly! Cavendish and Dakota might have figured something out by now!" Libby explained.

"I'm sure that they were able to find something! Once we get back, we can finally find a way to save Danville!" Molly smiled.

Once they were ready, Molly and Libby left the garden and made their way back to Milo's house. Even though they were able to defeat the Pistacion Heartless, Molly and Libby knew that this was only the beginning and had to be prepared for whatever else the Pistacions might have planned.
