I could just about make out the silhouette of my comrade. I knew that you should trust no one, even your own kind, but I remained with her for now. Afterall, having each other's back was how we would make it to the end. However, I was happy enough, when the time came to backstab her and take the prize for myself.
I spoke up first, "Greetings, CC," we had come up with codenames on the first night, obviously nothing complicated, but not too simple, just in case someone heard us and managed to guess. For example, if my partner's codename was IP, then everyone would know who she was.
"Hey, AG," she said, matching my cold, quiet tone. I had chosen my name. It was short for Awesome Girl, I know, a bit arrogant, but hey, no one will find out, as I won't be caught.
"So," I began, "Who are we gonna kill tonight?"
"Well," CC said, "Shall we carry on with my idea? Siblings?"
"Yeah, seems sensible. I'm concerned about Jayfeather. What do you think?" I believed Jayfeather was an obvious choice, but I had to convince CC first.
"Hmm…" she pondered, "He's smart, but, with that Breezepelt thing and all, Breezepelt's either going to kill him or he's going to push the case too hard, and dig his own grave."
"Well, what do you think then?" I retorted, half relieved and half annoyed. Why was I relived? Did I not want to kill Jayfeather? What was going on?
My partner interrupted my thoughts, "Tawnypelt. She's very observant, and I believe her death would shatter Brambleclaw."
"Mhm, yeah, let's go with Tawnypelt then," I smiled, because I dibbed this kill. I drew my blade from my back pocket. It was time to murder our victim.
