Hopefully, you guys have enjoyed the new addition; if you have, then I'd love to know what you think of them…right after you read this chapter. Thanks again for reading, and I can't wait to see how this story goes.
Chapter 3: Abortion
"I was scared that you'd make me have an abortion." -Gabriela Casey
It was clearly obvious to Matt that this was a hard topic for Gabby to talk about, especially since it wasn't something she ever thought she'd have to admit to her husband: that she thought that she'd have an abortion, if only she would've revealed that she was pregnant to him. Though, it wasn't just a hard topic for Gabby; rather, it was also a hard topic for him. The reason? It broke his heart to hear his wife admit that: that she was scared that he'd tell her to abort the child of their dreams, the child they've always wanted. It was the worst possible admission that Gabby could ever make, though he also knew in heart that it was true. How could it not be true? So, rather than just dismiss what Gabby said, Matt decided to make his way over to his beautiful wife so that he could hold her in his arms; that was, after all, what she needed him to do right now: she needs him to hold her in his arms as they took it easy right now.
But first, he actually had to get in bed with her. "Here, let me in bed so that I can hold you close to me." Gabby agreed with Matt as she slipped over in bed and opened the blanket she had on top of her, while he walked up to Antonio and smiled. "How've you been?" Smiling as he got up, Antonio proceeded to hug his brother-in-law again. "You already asked me that, but I'm better now that I got a chance to see my sister. How are you dealing with this?" Matt smiled as he looked at the woman he loves. "I'm cautiously optimistic when it comes to how this is going to turn out for us." Looking at Matt as he said that, Gabby smiled; after all, that was precisely how she wanted him to feel: cautiously optimistic that this will all work out. "I feel the same way." Matt agreed with Gabby as he finally joined her in bed, only to wrap his arm around her so that he could hold her in his arms, which is what she needed him to do.
Upon doing so, Gabby slipped close to him and wrapped her arms around his torso. "God, I missed holding you in my arms like this." Gabby agreed with Matt, as she felt the same way: she loved it when she laid down in his arms like this. "I'm glad that we get a chance to do this at least once more." Turning his head, Matt shook his head; after all, that wasn't what he wanted to hear: that this would be their last time holding each other. Rather, he wanted to hear positivity. He wanted to hear her say that they have a long future with each other, as that's the only future he wants: one with her and their child. "Hey, look up into my eyes." Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that. "I don't want you to think that way. You need to think positively. I don't want you to be scared. Gabby, we're here at the hospital. We have a great medical team, and everything is going to be okay. I promise, everything is going to go okay."
Antonio agreed with Matt, as he felt the same way. "I have no doubt that you guys are going to have a great team take care of you while you're in the OR, Gabby. I mean, these are also your friends. They're going to want the best for you." Matt agreed with his wife and smiled. "Dr. Letts also said that she has experience with this." Looking up at Matt as he said that, Gabby was confused. "What? Do you really think that you're the first stubborn wife who decided that she wanted to do this over her husband's objections and fears?" Gabby snickered as Matt said that. "I shouldn't laugh, but that makes sense." Matt agreed with his wife, only to turn his head and press his lips to her forehead to get her to relax. "We're going to need to talk about that in the future. Gabby, I mean that. We are going to need to talk about it." Gabby agreed, as she had no doubt in her mind that they would need to talk about it.
After all, she went behind Matt's back and was pregnant without him. "I'm just glad that you're supporting me right now." Matt shook his head, as that was never something she needed to worry about. "Hey, I'm your husband. This is our son. We're in this together whether you like it or not. Plus, you know that I've always wanted to be a dad. So, do you really think I can say no to the idea of being a dad with the woman I love? The woman I feel so blessed to call my wife." Gabby smiled as she placed her hand on Matt's chest as they held each other close, only to lay her head down; meanwhile, Matt placed his hand on top of hers and stroked her wedding band with his thumb. "I mean that, Gabby. I doubt that any other woman in the entire world would do this for me. You're risking your life to make my dream come true…and I promise that I will never forget that you did this for us. You're truly my miracle, baby."
Taking a breath as Matt said that, Gabby shook her head. "Matt, can you please not say that…or bring that up. I can't think that way. I don't want this to be the end. I don't want to have to say goodbye to you when I love you more than anything." Matt agreed with Gabby, as he knew that. "Hey, I know that." Matt then looked at Antonio. "Do you guys want some time alone?" Matt sighed, as he thought that may be a good idea: for them to get a bit of time alone with each other. "I want to just take it easy with Gabby. She needs to rest and take it easy." Antonio agreed with Matt and smiled. "I'll go get you something to eat, how does that sound?" Matt smiled. "Sandwiches?" Gabby nodded, as that sounded great. "Thanks Antonio." Antonio agreed with his sister as he got up and walked over to her, only to lean over and press his lips to her forehead. "You're going to do great. You already know that, sis." Gabby agreed.
Smiling at Matt, Antonio turned around to walk away so that he could go get them something to eat. Meanwhile, Matt turned his head and looked at Gabby as he held her close to him. "You do know that, right? You're going to do great. I already know that, Gabby." Turning her head, Gabby agreed with Matt. After all, she knew that she could do this. "I know I can do this. Though, that doesn't mean that I'm not scared." Matt agreed with his wife as he leaned in and kissed her softly. "I'm happy to have you home." Gabby agreed with Matt and took a breath as she wrapped her arms around his torso. Meanwhile, Matt placed his hand on her arm and rubbed it as he held her in his arms. "Honestly, I truly feel blessed to have you as my wife. I mean that. Babe, you're risking everything for me." Gabby agreed with Matt. "And that's why I'm scared. What if this is a mistake?" Matt shook his head, as he didn't want to hear that.
He didn't want to hear that this was a mistake, as that was her being negative; right now, they needed to be positive and hope for the best. "Gabby, us having a child isn't a mistake. If anything, me not supporting you in this dream of yours was my mistake. Gabby, I want to apologize for that…that's why I wanted you alone for a minute. I wanted to take a minute and apologize for what I said. I mean it from the bottom of my heart when I say that I regret everything I said before you left the first time. I love you more than anything, and I can never forgive myself for what I said." Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that. "Gabby, I was just scared; though, that's no excuse. That's not how you speak to the woman you love, because that's what you are Gabby. You're the love of my life, and I'm so happy to have you here with me. I'm happy to have you back in my arms, because I want to be your husband forever."
Gabby agreed with Matt. "And that may be what happens at the end of the day." Matt shook his head as he turned his head and pressed his lips to Gabby's forehead. "Gabby, I have faith that everything will turn out the way we want it to. I love you, and I mean that. I want this to turn out right because it's what we deserve after everything we've gone through. In fact, this is better than I could ever imagine." Looking up at her husband, Gabby was confused. "What do you mean?" Matt sighed. "Being completely honest…I was always scared when we got together and made love that this would happen…and that I wouldn't find out until after you gave birth." Gabby nodded. "So, this is better than what I thought would happen. I always thought that you would leave me out of the birth; so, I appreciate it that you came back." Gabby shook her head, as there was no other option when it came to that.
She was always going to come here to give birth. "Matt, there was no other option. I was always going to come back to give birth, I promise. I needed to be here in case the worst-case scenario happened. Yes, I know that we're hoping for the best, because I really am…I just need to be realistic that this may also be the end of our life together. So, I didn't want our child to be alone without his father." Matt agreed with his wife, as he knew that was the truth: the last thing she could want for their child was to be alone without him. "I still appreciate it, as I love you more than anything…and I promise that everything is going to work out. I know that this is scary, but we need to hope for the best." Gabby agreed, as they most certainly do need to hope for the best. They need to find a way to ensure that they have a nice life with each other. "I just wish I could have you one last time just in case…"
Matt snickered, as that wasn't going to happen. "You're going to have me again in the future, I promise. Me and you are going to have a bunch more times with each other. Gabby, I mean that. We need to be positive and hope for the best." Gabby agreed with Matt. "Just like we also need to find a new place to live with the pandemic. Sorry, but…" Matt agreed with his wife, as he already knew precisely what she was talking about. "I know. I'll reserve us a hotel room to live in for the time being." Looking at her husband, Gabby was surprised. "Really?" Matt smiled. "Maybe more like a condo-hotel. There's some downtown." Gabby agreed with Matt. "We don't need anything big for now. Just something to hold us over." Matt agreed with his wife and smiled as he reached for his phone. "Want to look for one and distract us until we're in the delivery room." Gabby looked up at Matt. "Are you coming in with me?"
Matt was surprised that Gabby would even ask him whether he was coming in with her. "Hey, of course, I'm coming into the delivery room with you. There's nowhere I'd rather be when you give birth to our son." Gabby agreed with Matt and smiled, as she loves the sound of that: them being together as they welcome their son into the world. "Good, because I want you there too. I want to see the look on your face when you become a dad forever." Matt smiled, as he loves the sound of that. "That's why you really wanted to do this for me, didn't you?" Gabby sighed. "Matt, it's all related to Louie. You know that. It's why I didn't want to adopt. I was scared to risk losing our child again. I want to have a baby for the rest of our life. That's what I told you, remember?" Matt agreed with his wife and smiled as he pressed his lips to her forehead. "And thanks to you, that's precisely what we're going to have: a baby forever."
Gabby agreed with Matt and smiled, as she couldn't wait for that to happen. "I'm excited for that to happen, if I'm being completely honest. Just the thought of you holding our son on your shirtless chest makes me smile." Matt agreed with Gabby, as that does sound appealing. "I love the sound of that too, with you sitting beside me in the comfort of our bed?" Gabby smiled as she looked up into Matt's eyes. "We don't need to talk about this if you don't want to." Confused, Matt looked at his wife. "Why do you say that?" Gabby sighed as she looked into Matt's eyes. "I don't want to get your hopes up. I mean, what if it doesn't work out. Hell, I just…" Leaning in, Matt kissed his wife once more. "Listen, let's lay down side-by-side so that I can hold my family close. You need some rest." Gabby agreed with Matt as she moved out of his arms, only to lay down next to him in bed; something Matt did as well to hold her close.
Laying down close to Gabby this morning, Matt smirked as he wrapped his arm around Gabby's waist and brought her body right against his chest; after which, he ran his hand up her shirt and smiled as he stroked her stomach with his thumb. In the process, he interacted with their son for the first time. "God, this is so nice. You touching me like that." Matt agreed with his wife and smiled. "I wanted to touch you like this because I missed you. I'm just glad that you're okay with me touching you like this." Confused, Gabby placed her hand on Matt's chest. "Why wouldn't I want you to touch me like this when I love you more than anything in the entire world?" Matt took a breath. "I mean, I wouldn't blame you if you didn't want me to be a part of your life when I hurt you as much as I did. That's still something I regret more than anything, Gabby…and I need you to know that." Gabby agreed with Matt.
After which, she placed her hand on his chest and leaned in to kiss the love of her life softly; meanwhile, Matt moved his hand to the side of her face and smiled as they took things nice and slow with each other…and he had to admit, it was the best feeling in the entire world. The way they're taking things nice and slow with each other, it was precisely what Matt wanted to do this morning. "I love you more than anything, and I hope you know that." Gabby agreed with Matt. "And I promise that I'll be okay if we have to live with Kelly and Stella for a bit." Matt sighed. "Are you sure? His immune system." Gabby then realized that, only to hear her brother come back. "You can always move into mom's old place. I've just been renting it out as an Airbnb." Turning her head as Antonio said that, Gabby was shocked. "I thought she sold that when she moved to Miami?" Antonio shook his head. "She kept it to make money."
Smiling as he looked at Gabby, Matt stroked her stroke with his thumb again. "Looks like our living situation is solved." Gabby agreed with Matt and smiled, as it most certainly seems like it is. "I guess it is. I mean, if you're okay with us living there." Matt agreed with his wife and smiled, as he was more than okay with them living there. If it was a good place to live, then he was all for it. "Of course, I love the idea of us living in a place that'll feel like home right away." Gabby agreed with Matt and smiled as she cuddled up to him, only to wrap her arms around his muscular torso; meanwhile, he placed his hand on her side and pressed his lips to her forehead. "You guys want your food?" Gabby sighed as Antonio asked her that question, prior to starting to shake. "Hey, what's wrong Gabby?" Matt asked, truly scared as to what was happening. "Hey, what's wrong?" Matt asked his wife again. "Doctor."
Looking at his wife, Matt got nervous as he went to sit up. "Hey, what's going on?" Taking a breath, Gabby placed her hand on Matt's face. "I love you Matt." Looking at his wife. "Hey, don't you dare think that way. You're going to be okay. Wait did your…" Looking at the sheets, Matt got up and then turned to look at Antonio. "Antonio, her water broke." Antonio agreed with Matt, only to rush out to get the doctor. Meanwhile, Matt placed his hand on Gabby's stomach as he stared at the woman he loves. "Hey, just breathe, babe." Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that, while also being worried. "Matt, I'm sorry. Maybe this was a bad idea." Matt shook his head as he walked around her bed, only to place his hands on the side of her face. "Hey, I believe in you. I know I didn't say this before, but I mean it. I believe in you." Gabby agreed with Matt as he told her that, as she knew that. "I love you, Matt."
Matt agreed with his beautiful wife and smiled as he leaned in and kissed her again. While, at the same time, praying for a miracle.
