Chapter 8: welcome to The boiling Isles
"Hey everybody, I'm back with a new chapter! It took me a while to work on this, as I was trying to figure out the best way to start this journey. We're finally entering the Owl House saga! I hope you like the additions I've made to the story. Please like, review, relax, and enjoy!"
Jake and Stitch met back up with Luz, who was sitting in the principal's office with her mom and Sam, alongside Jumba and Pleakley, who were wearing their human disguises. They had disappointed looks on their faces.
"Uh-oh," Jake said.
"Smitec," Stitch said.
In the principal's office, Jake and Sam were standing next to the principal, along with Jumba and Pleakley, who were wearing their human disguises. Luz and her mom, Dr. Camilla Noceda, were also present.
"Where's Stitch?" Luz whispered to Jake.
"I told him to stay outside the principal's office. He doesn't need to hear this," Jake said.
"That's sweet that you care," Luz said.
"He's ohana after all," Jake replied.
"I assume you are Mrs. Evans?" the principal asked.
"Yes, I am," Sam said.
"Who are these two?" the principal asked, pointing at Jumba and Pleakley.
"Ummm, this is my uncle Jumba and my aunt Pleakley," Jake said quickly.
"The reason why you're here, Mrs. Evans, is because I caught your son on the security camera fighting with your, umm, dog," the principal said. "And there are scratch marks all over the lockers and the floors."
"And you, Ms. Noceda, your daughter released snakes around the school and attacked people," the principal said.
"I thought you had those snakes covered. You said it was safe," Jake said.
"Yeah, I did. I guess I miscounted," Luz said.
Sam sighed. "I'm really sorry about that. We'll pay for the damages."
"We can't have students fighting and causing such destruction," the principal said sternly. "This kind of behavior is unacceptable."
"I'm really sorry," Jake said. "It won't happen again."
Dr. Camilla Noceda turned to Luz. "And Luz, you need to be more careful with your experiments. You could have hurt someone."
"I know, Mom. I'm sorry," Luz said, looking down.
Jumba, trying to defuse the tension, said, "We will ensure that such incidents do not occur again. Right, Pleakley?"
"Absolutely," Pleakley added nervously.
The principal nodded. "I hope so. You all need to be more responsible. Now, let's discuss the consequences. Jake and Luz, you'll both have detention for the next week. And Miss Evans, I'll expect payment for the damages by the end of the month."
"Understood," Sam said, squeezing Jake's shoulder.
"Yes, ma'am," Jake and Luz said in unison.
"Alright, you are dismissed," the principal said, standing up.
As they walked out of the office, Jake glanced at Luz. "Well, that could have been worse."
"Yeah," Luz agreed. "At least we didn't get expelled."
Stitch, who was waiting outside the office, ran up to Jake. "Jake okay?"
Jake smiled. "Yeah, Stitch. We're okay. Let's just make sure this doesn't happen again."
Luz grinned. "Ready for some detention adventures?"
Jake laughed. "Why not? At least we'll be together."
They all walked out of the school, determined to make the best of their situation.
In detention, Jake and Luz sat at the back of the room, exchanging glances. The room was eerily quiet, with the only sound being the ticking of the clock. Stitch had been instructed to wait outside, which he did reluctantly.
Luz leaned over to Jake and whispered, "So, any ideas on how to survive this?"
Jake smirked. "I was thinking we could make the best of it. Maybe plan our next move or figure out how to keep Stitch out of trouble."
Luz nodded. "Good idea. And we should also figure out how to keep from getting caught next time."
Jake chuckled softly. "Yeah, definitely. First rule: No more snakes."
Luz giggled. "Agreed. And maybe we should keep Stitch away from the principal's office."
They both fell into a comfortable silence, scribbling in their notebooks and occasionally glancing at the clock.
After a while, Luz spoke up again. "Do you think your mom will be okay with paying for the damages?"
Jake sighed. "She will. She always manages to handle things. I'm just worried about how she'll feel if this keeps happening."
Luz placed a reassuring hand on his arm. "We'll figure it out. We just need to be more careful."
Before Jake could respond, the detention supervisor, Mr. Thompson, walked in and cleared his throat. "Alright, everyone. I want complete silence and for you all to focus on your assignments. Any trouble, and you'll be here for another week."
Jake and Luz exchanged a look but nodded obediently. They both focused on their work, determined to get through detention without any more issues.
As the hours dragged on, they whispered ideas back and forth about future plans and how to handle their adventures more carefully. Despite the circumstances, they found themselves enjoying each other's company and even coming up with a few creative ideas for their next escapade.
When detention finally ended, they gathered their things and met Stitch outside. He bounced excitedly, glad to see them.
"Jake, Luz, okay?" Stitch asked, his eyes wide with concern.
Jake smiled and patted Stitch on the head. "Yeah, we're okay, buddy. Let's go home."
Luz grinned. "And maybe we can brainstorm some more on the way."
Together, they walked out of the school, ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead with a renewed sense of determination and teamwork.
As they made their way out of the school, Luz suddenly stopped and turned to Jake, her eyes lighting up with excitement.
"Hey, before we head home, let's stop by my place. I have an idea for a new spell to add to your Astral Convergence Magic," Luz said, her enthusiasm contagious.
Jake raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "Really? What kind of spell?"
Luz grinned. "I call it Meteor Gauntlets. I think it would be a perfect addition to your abilities."
Jake looked at Stitch, who nodded eagerly. "Alright, let's do it."
They made their way to Luz's house, where Camilla greeted them with a warm smile. "Welcome back, you three. How was detention?"
"It was... educational," Jake said with a grin.
Luz laughed. "We survived. But we have some important work to do, Mom. We're heading to my room."
Camilla nodded, watching them with a knowing smile as they rushed upstairs. "Just be careful, you two."
In Luz's room, she quickly pulled out her book and started flipping through the pages. "Okay, Jake, I need you to focus. This spell is going to enhance your strength and give you the power to summon gauntlets made of meteorite energy."
Jake's eyes widened. "That sounds incredible. What do I need to do?"
Luz handed him a piece of paper with intricate runes drawn on it. "You need to memorize these symbols and channel your magic through them. Stitch, you can help by providing some of your energy."
Stitch nodded, positioning himself next to Jake. "Ready."
Jake closed his eyes, focusing on the symbols and channeling his magic. He felt a surge of energy as Stitch lent him some of his own power. The air around them crackled with anticipation.
Luz watched intently, guiding Jake through the process. "Now, visualize the gauntlets forming around your hands, made of pure meteorite energy."
Jake concentrated, and slowly, the energy began to take shape. Glowing gauntlets materialized around his hands, pulsing with power. He opened his eyes and looked at Luz in amazement.
"It worked," he said, flexing his fingers and feeling the strength coursing through him. "This is incredible, Luz."
Luz beamed. "I knew you could do it. These Meteor Gauntlets will give you an edge in battle and help protect everyone."
Jake nodded, feeling a renewed sense of confidence. "Thanks, Luz. This will definitely come in handy."
Stitch clapped his hands together, excited. "Jake strong now!"
Luz grinned. "Alright, let's test them out a bit before you head home. We need to make sure you're comfortable using them."
They spent the next hour practicing with the Meteor Gauntlets, refining Jake's control over the new spell. By the time they were done, Jake felt more powerful and ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead.
As they finally headed home, Jake looked at Luz and Stitch with gratitude. "Thanks for everything, you two. I couldn't have done this without you."
Luz smiled. "That's what friends are for. We'll always have each other's backs."
Stitch nodded. "Ohana means family. Family means no one gets left behind."
Later that night, Jake and Luz were taking out the garbage.
"For one person, you really have so much garbage," Jake said.
"Oh, don't tell me I have too much garbage. This is coming from the one who has a collection of Ben 10 all over his room and coconut cream cake all over the floor," Luz replied.
"Okay, one, that was Stitch, and two, I like Ben 10. Don't judge me," Jake said as Stitch walked over.
"Hey Stitch, can you help us?" Jake asked.
"Okie-taka," Stitch said as he picked up two big garbage bags and threw them into the garbage with ease.
"Good dog," Jake said. Suddenly, Stitch saw something in the forest and started to growl at two owls holding a sack.
"You told me this wouldn't be so heavy," one owl said.
"Just pick it up and stop being a baby," the second owl said until Stitch tried to chase after them.
"Hey, hey Stitch, wait! Where are you going?" Jake said, running with Luz following behind him.
Jake and Luz ran after Stitch, who was now barking furiously at the two owls. The owls flapped their wings, startled, and dropped the sack they were carrying.
"Wait, Stitch, stop!" Jake shouted, trying to catch up.
Luz, panting, finally reached Stitch and grabbed his collar to hold him back. "What's gotten into you, Stitch?"
The owls transformed into their human forms, revealing themselves to be two young boys, both around the same age as Jake and Luz. One had dark hair with streaks of white, and the other had fiery red hair.
"Who are you guys?" Jake demanded, stepping forward protectively.
The dark-haired boy smirked. "We're just minding our own business. You should teach your 'dog' to do the same."
"What are you doing with that sack?" Luz asked, eyeing the bag suspiciously.
The red-haired boy narrowed his eyes. "None of your business."
Jake's eyes narrowed. "Well, it became our business when you started sneaking around in the middle of the night. Now, what's in the sack?"
The dark-haired boy sighed. "Fine. We're collecting magical herbs for a spell. Happy now?"
Luz exchanged a glance with Jake. "Magical herbs? What kind of spell?"
The red-haired boy crossed his arms. "That's classified information."
"Classified? This isn't a spy movie," Jake said, rolling his eyes. "If you're up to something that could hurt people, we need to know."
The boys looked at each other, and the dark-haired one finally spoke. "We're not here to hurt anyone. We're just... trying to help someone important to us."
Luz softened. "If you're in trouble, maybe we can help. We're not the bad guys here."
The boys hesitated, then the dark-haired one nodded. "Alright, but you can't tell anyone. We're trying to find a way to break a curse. Our family member has been turned into an owl beast, and these herbs are part of the ritual to free her."
Jake and Luz looked at each other, then back at the boys. "We can help," Jake said. "But you have to trust us."
The red-haired boy sighed. "Fine. But if you betray us, you'll regret it."
Luz smiled. "No worries. We've got your back. Let's get this done together."
As they walked deeper into the forest, Jake and Luz were curious about the two boys who had suddenly become their allies.
"So, what are your names?" Luz asked, breaking the silence.
The dark-haired boy glanced over. "I'm Asher. And this is my brother, Finn."
"Nice to meet you, Asher and Finn," Jake said, extending a hand. Asher shook it cautiously, while Finn just nodded.
"What kind of curse are you dealing with?" Luz asked, her curiosity piqued.
Finn sighed. "Our aunt was turned into an owl beast by a dark sorcerer. We've been searching for a way to reverse the spell for months now."
"That sounds intense," Jake said. "But why are you guys doing it alone? Why not ask for help?"
Asher shrugged. "We don't exactly have a lot of people we can trust. Besides, most wouldn't believe us or would be too scared to help."
Stitch, walking alongside them, sniffed the air and growled softly, sensing something in the distance. Jake patted his head to calm him.
Luz looked around, noticing the eerie quiet of the forest. "So, what's the plan? How do we break the curse?"
"We need to mix the magical herbs with a special elixir and then perform a ritual under the light of the full moon," Asher explained. "It's our only hope."
"Sounds like a plan," Jake said confidently. "When's the full moon?"
"Tomorrow night," Finn replied. "We don't have much time."
"Alright, let's get these herbs and head back to your place," Luz said, her determination shining through. "We'll figure this out together."
As they continued their journey, the group grew more comfortable with each other, their shared goal bringing them closer. They reached a clearing in the forest where the herbs were supposed to be, and the boys started searching for the right plants.
Stitch sniffed around, his keen senses helping to locate the herbs faster. Jake and Luz assisted, gathering the plants carefully.
Once they had everything they needed, Asher looked at the sky. "We should head back. We have to prepare the elixir before the full moon rises."
"Lead the way," Jake said, ready for whatever challenges lay ahead.
Until a group of dark owls appeared and surrounded them. Jake took out his Starlight Blade, Stitch took out his plasma blasters, and Asher and Finn summoned their owl Staffs.
"Luz, stay behind me," Jake said as the dark owls converged on one spot, forming into Eli.
"Give me the Owl Stone," Eli demanded, summoning dark daggers and hurling them at the group.
Jake deflected the daggers with his Starlight Blade, while Stitch fired his plasma blasters, intercepting several projectiles mid-air. Asher and Finn used their owl Staffs to trap some of the dark owls, but the battle was intense.
"We're not giving you anything!" Jake shouted, launching himself at Eli with a powerful slash.
Eli dodged, summoning more dark magic to counter. "You have no idea what you're dealing with," he sneered, sending a wave of shadow energy towards them.
Luz quickly made a protective barrier, shielding herself and the others. "We won't let you win, Eli!" she yelled.
Stitch, rolling into a ball, bounced around rapidly, knocking dark owls out of the way. "Icky ticky!" he growled, his eyes glowing fiercely.
Asher and Finn coordinated their attacks, using their staffs to bind the dark owls and weaken Eli's defenses. "Jake, now!" Asher called out.
Seizing the opportunity, Jake charged forward, his Starlight Blade gleaming. He struck Eli with all his might, breaking through his dark aura and causing Eli to stumble back.
"This isn't over," Eli hissed, his form flickering. With a final glare, he and the remaining dark owls vanished into the shadows.
Breathing heavily, Jake lowered his blade. "Is everyone okay?" he asked, looking around.
Luz nodded, her barrier dissipating. "Yeah, we're fine."
Asher and Finn relaxed, releasing their Staffs. "We need to hurry," Finn said urgently. "If Eli is after the Owl Stone, we're running out of time."
"Let's get back and prepare the elixir," Jake agreed, his resolve stronger than ever.
"How did you make a barrier, Luz?" Jake asked.
"Jumba made me this bracelet that creates a barrier for me," Luz explained.
"Cool," Jake said.
"Bootifa," Stitch chimed in.
"Thanks, guys," Luz said gratefully.
"Come on, let's keep going," Finn urged as they made their way towards the abandoned house in the woods.
"Okay, Asher, you got the portal door?" Finn asked.
"Yeah, I do. She's probably going to get mad at us," Asher remarked, pressing the button on the key as a door opened and they all walked in.
A portal opened and they all appeared. They looked around and noticed there was a tent filled with stuff.
"What the heck?" Jake said, looking around.
"Gaba?" Stitch said.
"Where are we?" Luz asked.
"Finally! You two are back!" a female voice said.
Looking to the front, they saw a woman with gray hair and a scarf over her head.
"Let's see what you two got here," she said as the two boys gave her the sack. Then one of the owls landed on a staff and she spun it back on surprising them..
"Garbage, garbage, garbage," she said, tossing away a smartphone, diamond ring, and a glowing chalice.
"Oh, come on, that costs a lot of money," Jake said.
"Now this. This will make me rich," she said, grabbing some gag eyeballs before looking at the book. "Well, at least with these, I have some kindling."
"My book! I thought you guys just had herbs," Luz said.
Asher and Finn just whistled innocently.
"No!" Luz yelled, grabbing the book from her.
Surprised, the woman looked over at the three visitors.
"Asher and Finn, what did I tell you about bringing other people to this place?" she asked.
"Don't let anyone see you use the portal door," Asher and Finn said in unison.
"What did you do?" she asked.
"They saw us," Finn said.
"But it wasn't all our fault. it was that dog," Asher said, pointing at Stitch.
"Stitch, Luz, run!" Jake said as they sprinted towards the door, only for it to turn into a key and fly back to the lady.
"You three aren't going anywhere," the woman said, taking off her glasses to reveal glaring gold eyes. This was Eda.
Panicking, the three of them ran under the tent only to see a wild and beautiful town straight out of a fantasy show filled with unique creatures and things.
"What is this place?" Jake asked when a cute fairy flew over to them.
"Hi there, are you here to tell us where we are?" Luz asked.
"Give me your skin!" it said, revealing sharp teeth.
Panicking, Luz whacked it away with her book. "Did we die? Are we in another place?" Luz asked when Eda grabbed them.
"Naga, naga, naga," Stitch said, freaking out.
"You wish," Eda said, putting them down on some stools.
"Welcome to The Boiling Isles," Finn said.
"The most magical place in the land," Asher said sarcastically.
"Hey, what did I say about that sass?" Eda said.
"Only you can do it," Asher said, making her smile.
"That's right," Eda said. "Want a human foot filled with holes? Weird green candy? Ooh, how about a black mirror filled with sadness?" Eda asked, holding up a portable TV.
"That's not all it can do," Luz said, grabbing some batteries and turning it on, bringing in a bunch of customers.
"What are your names?" Eda asked.
"I'm Luz, Luz Noceda."
"I'm Jake Evans, and this is my alien dog, Stitch."
"H-H-Hi," Stitch said, waving.
"If we're going to do this, then my name is Asher Longclaw."
"And my name is Finn Longclaw."
"And these are my nephews," Eda said, strangling the two.
"Well, I'm Eda the Owl Lady! The most powerful witch on the Boiling Isles!"
"A witch?" Luz gasped.
"Boiling Isles?" Jake gasped, remembering his dream about this place. "I don't believe it."
"Busted!" a voice said, smashing the TV, causing the crowd to scatter as a large, bulky man with a pointy mask appeared. "Eda the Owl Lady and Asher and Finn longclaw are under arrest for misuse of magic and demonic misdemeanors," he said, holding up their wanted posters.
"A witch criminals," Luz gasped.
"You three are ordered to come with me to the Conformatorium," he said, grabbing her and the two boys.
"Would you guys get a life? We haven't done anything," Eda said, when he grabbed Luz, Jake, and Stitch.
"And you three are under arrest for fraternizing with a criminal."
"Hey, we don't even know them!" Jake said.
"Not cool," Luz said.
"Naga-takabah," Stitch said.
"Alright, alright, just let me get my—" Grabbing her staff, Eda whacked the guard to the ground before all her stuff magically gathered into a sack. "Oh, can't forget this." Clicking her key, the door turned into a briefcase. "Follow me!" As the two boys shapeshifted into owls and flew after her.
"This is crazy! If I die here, my mom will kill me!" Luz said.
"Don't worry, I'm not letting anything happen to you," Eda said.
"Hey, thanks for leaving us," Jake said, grabbing Stitch as he used Meteor Dash to speed up to them.
"This is the Boiling Isles. Every myth you humans have is caused by a little of our world leaking into yours," Eda said as a griffin flew past them.
"A griffin!" Luz exclaimed, pointing.
"Yep, we got all of them: griffins, vampires, giraffes," Eda listed.
"Giraffes?" Jake asked, puzzled.
"Yeah, we banished them. Bunch of weirdos," Eda replied as they landed in the woods.
"So, this place looks cool, I guess," Jake remarked.
"How do we get home?" Luz asked.
"I'll only tell you if you agree to help me," Eda said, hopping off her broom, only to find her hand still stuck to it. "Oops, that happens."
"What the hell, what the hell, what the hell," Jake muttered as Stitch tried to calm him down.
"I guess we don't have a choice," Luz said.
"That's the spirit," Eda said, leading them to a cool house.
"Hey, aren't you worried about those guards?" Jake asked.
"Don't worry, I've got an amazing security system," Eda reassured, as the two owls transformed back into Finn and Asher.
"Hoot, hoot. What's the password?" the owl at the door asked, but Eda poked his eyes. "Ow!"
"We don't have time, Hooty. Open up," Eda insisted.
"Alright, alright, geez," Hooty grumbled, opening the door.
"Welcome to the Owl House," Eda announced, snapping her fingers to reveal a fully furnished house. "Where I hide away from the pressures of modern life, and also the cops and ex-boyfriends."
"Cool place," Jake remarked.
"Eegalagoo," Stitch said, looking around at the place.
"Do you guys live here all by yourselves?" Luz asked when they heard a noise.
"Actually, we have a roommate. my second one before my nephews I had to take care of ," Eda explained as a large shadow approached from down the hall.
"Who dares intrude upon the King of Demons?!" a small demon with mostly dark gray fur, white claws, a skull for a face, and two horns, one of which was broken, emerged from the shadow. This was King.
"Ay, que lindo! Eda, he's so cute! Who's a widdle guy? Who's a widdle guy? Is it you? Is it you?" Luz exclaimed, hugging him.
"No! I don't know who your little guy is! Eda, who is this monster?!" King panicked, causing Jake to laugh.
"Stitch Cuter," Stitch said, getting jealous.
"Don't worry, Stitch, I still think you're cute," Jake said, patting him on the head.
"Cute and fluffy," Stitch said with a smile.
"This is Luz, and this is Jake, with his alien dog, Stitch. They're here to help us with our... situation," Eda explained.
"Finally," King said, before looking at them. "You will be a worthy servant's ."
"Huh?" Jake said, confused.
"Stitch, no servant ," Stitch growled at him, causing King to step back.
"Just... let me explain. King was once a mighty king of demons, until his crown of power was stolen, and he became... this," Eda gestured.
"You mean this little bundle of joy?" Luz asked, hugging him again.
"The crown is being held by the evil Warden Wrath and locked away behind a magical force field that only a human can break through ‐ a human like you two. If you help us retrieve his crown, we'll send you back to your realm. So, whaddya say? Plus, who could say no to this cute face?" Eda asked, holding up King.
"No! Don't encourage them!" King protested.
"We don't have a choice, do we?" Jake sighed.
"Nope, but I'll make you a deal. In this house, I have something that belongs to an old friend. I'll give it to you," Eda said, catching his attention.
"What is it?" Jake asked.
"Uh uh uh. Crown first," Eda insisted, picking them up and walking out the door.
"Soon, Mr. Ducky, we shall drink the fear of those who mocked us," King said, picking up his rubber ducky before following.
"Where are we going exactly?" Luz asked.
"Somewhere super fun," Eda replied.
"Nice! Are you ready for a new adventure, Stitch?" Jake asked.
"Akatoo-kee!" Stitch exclaimed, excitedly jumping around.
"Are you two coming?"
"Do we even have a choice?" Finn asked.
"We really don't. Besides, who's going to keep are aunt out of trouble?" Asher said as they summoned their owl staffs.
