Chapter 78 4th Grade

Shin and the girls were having lunch at a cafe with Yuna there too, he was sitting in the middle as he looks outside a window. He was thinking about something from his past. When he was still a child and one of the times he felt happy.

"You know, headmaster Milton really changed ever since he had his brother back." Apple said.

"Well which is for the better." Raven said.

"Yeah." Shin said.

Yuna looks at him. "I think you had a similar principal."

"Oh him, well he was strict but fair." Shin said.

"Oooh." Maddie got curious. "Who was he?"

"Principal Prickly, who he was just a principal back at my old school." Shin said.

He looks outside again as he remembers.

Flashback

When Shin was a child around 9 he was at recess at his school, he sits at a bench looking around. He went to America for a program that happened and he was the unlucky winner, now he was here for a entire year.

He sighs since he didn't have many friends. He then saw a big shadow over him with the big bully Gelman there.

"Okay shorty, give me what you have." He said.

"But I don't got anything." Shin was nervous.

"Fork it!" He demanded.

Shin struggled and he headbutts Gelman in the nose making him let go, many gasped seeing that.

"You... You broke my nose." Gelman got shocked.

"Oh, oops." Shin said.

"Hey what's going on?!" They saw a old woman called Miss Finster.

"Uh oh." Shin frowns.

They were at the principal's office, Gelman goes out as he was shaking holding his nose.

"Causing a fight! I expected better!"

Shin looks at the principal being a man with black hair, mustache wearing a suit and glasses, this was principal Prickly.

"I'm sorry." Shin looks down.

"What were you thinking?!" He said.

"I... I was just scared." Shin said.

Prickly stares at him and felt bad, he sighs. "Shin..." He sits down. "You know i've been seeing you out there, just being by yourself."

"Huh?" Shin looks at him.

"I know how it feels, you might not have best life. But you can't just waste your time as a kid." Prickly said.

He got up and looks outside a window. "I used to be a kid too. And those times were good. So I say this, don't waste your time just sitting in a corner and have some fun. Make friends."

"Principal." Shin was surprised.

He smiles at him. "I might act mean but I have my moments."

Shin smiles at him.

"Now why don't you go. Recess is still going." Prickly said.

Shin nodded and got up before going out. Once he got outside he dodged a ball.

"Oops sorry." He saw a kid with a red hat. "Hey your the kid from Japan."

"Uh yeah." Shin nodded. "I'm Shin."

"I'm TJ, wanna play with us." TJ said.

Shin saw his friends and they waved at them. He smiles and nodded. "Okay."

"Great, come on!" TJ lead him and they went to them.

Prickly watches and he smiles. "Enjoy your time kid. Enjoy your childhood."

He saw Shin playing with TJ's group and he was happy to have helped him. He didn't like someone to just waste they're life being afraid. They only get one childhood.

Shin had fun with them and they became his friends.

Flashback ends

"And that was it." He shrugs.

"He must have been a really nice man." Apple said.

"So what happened to the kids that you met in that school?" Raven asked.

"They lived they're lives. I had to go back home later on. But honestly, it was a fun time." He smiles a bit.

"Well i'm happy for you Shin." Raven puts a hand on his shoulder.

"Thanks Ra." He said.

"Ra?!" Most said.

The two got surprised.

"What?" He said.

"You give her a nickmame! What about me?!" Apple said.

"Um, i'm just a little nervous coming up with a nickname." He chuckles nervously.

Apple pouted since she wanted to have a cute nickname from her boyfriend too.

Raven sighs. "Why do they need to get that jealous."

Yuna frowns too since she met him the most and he didn't give her one.

"Well it's just how life is." He said.

Shin goes outside and he takes something out of his pocket, it was a peace symbol necklace. He smiles since this is what the principal gave him.

Flashback

Shin was at a classroom as he puts his books on his bag, he was frowning since today is the last day.

Principal Prickly came. "So this is it."

"Yeah, it's over." Shin said.

"Well I must say you've been in trouble with your friends, but at least you had fun." Prickly said.

"I just wish I didn't have to leave." Shin looks down.

Prickly frowns before he got an idea. "Well... Here." He puts his necklace around him.

Shin got surprised.

"A little thing to remember this year." He rubs Shin's head.

Shin smiles. "Thanks."

He runs off to see his friends one more time, the Principal watches him leave.

"I'm gonna miss that kid." He goes back to his office.

It's been a interesting year with Shin around and he's proud of him.

Shin went to see TJ and the others and they went out together to spend one more time with Shin before he goes back to Japan.

Flashback ends

Shin puts it around his neck as he smiles, since it was something from his past, he kept it stored so he wouldn't lose it. Now he wants to make sure to keep it around him.

"Thanks Pricipal Prickly, for the best year of school I had." he said.

He kept smiling and looks up to the sky remembering the good times he had back at the 4th grade.

He walks forward and sings a little song for old times.

Shin smiles and he looks up to the sky and saw a cloud in the shape of Principal Prickly as he was smiling there.

"Principel Prickly, thank you."

Note: Heres a tribute to Recess more so to Dabney Coleman, when I heard of his passing, it's another moment that hit me, since I love the show so I wanted to make a chapter for that show, so I had Shin be in that school for a entire year.
