Chapter 2 – Dojo Crashing
~Spyro~
"Well done, Spyro! You're a natural with the art of fire!" Ignitus patted his head, heaving a sigh, "There may be hope for the realms yet."
It took an immense tool on his energies, but he had completed his fire training. The question was, what would be next?
Before he could pose a single question to Ignitus, a knock resounded from the dojo door. This was followed by a semi-high-pitched, "Hello? Ignitus, Spyro? Are you in there?"
His posture stiffening, Ignitus shot Spyro a concerned and fearful glare, "Spyro… Prepare yourself. I know not who or what could have such a voice, but it is like nothing I have ever heard before."
Whether the being behind the door was malevolent or benevolent was yet to be seen. In Spyro's eyes, it would be better to give an unknown person the benefit of the doubt.
"Well, what if it's an ally?" Spyro interjected, raising a claw, "I mean, it knocked on the door. And it knows our names, right?"
Despite his hopefulness, Spyro was somewhat frightened as well. Ignitus's demeanor only caused more uncertainty. Even so, he found himself drawn towards the sound.
Who was it?
What was it
"…Are you friend or foe!?" Ignitus boomed out, shuffling towards the door, "Your voice is not an Ape's, nor Dragon's! What are you?"
The voice echoed from behind the door once more, "Uh… I don't think my specie is from here. Let's just put it that way. We're related to apes where I'm from, but not the ones from this world. I've come to help and train with Spyro."
"Uh-Huh… Sure, pal," Sparx zoomed toward the dojo's entranced, "And I'm the queen of the Dragon Realms."
Typical Sparx. Sardonic and sometimes outright cynical.
"Sparx!"
"Sparx, right?"
Spyro shot a shocked glance towards Ignitus, who seemed to be in a perplexed stupor. Knowing the name of Ignitus or even himself would be relatively easy for an informed Ape. But Sparx?
"How did you know my name and why did you literally say it at the same time as my bro?" Sparx hid behind him, his body shivering, "Whatever you are, I-I know Karate! I could kick your butt!"
The voice continued its explanation, "Let's just say I'm not from the Dragon Realms. At all. And I've been sent by benevolent beings to help you all defeat Cynder and… Well, someone else. Someone worse. I think Ignitus knows who I'm talking about."
Worse than Cynder?
"…How do you know about him?" Ignitus's wings flared and his eyes narrowed in suspicion as he approached the door, "If you give me more information, then I may be able to trust you."
This would be considered the moment of truth. Whether this being was friend or foe would be revealed sooner than later. No matter which, it was certain to be a very unusual being.
A few seconds later, a voice resounded in Spyro's head.
(Uh… Is this thing on? Can you guys hear me?)
"Ignitus, can you hear that?" Spyro looked to Ignitus, "It's like this creature is speaking into my mind."
With a nod, Ignitus confirmed his suspicions, "Indeed I can. This creature, whatever it is… Knows an art nigh lost to time. Far beyond what an ape is capable of."
(Okay, so you can hear me. The walls have ears, as they say.)
"So, what do you have to tell us? What do you know that we don't?" Spyro gathered his courage as he approached the door, "Is it about the apes, or something worse?"
(Cynder plans to use the captured elders to power elemental orbs. And she's going to use them to try and resurrect Malefor, AKA the Dark Master. Also, she's not evil, just corrupted by dark energy. I think – Rather, I know there's a way to save her. If Spyro and I to work together, then maybe we can prevent it from hitting the fan during the Eternal Night.)
"Spyro…" Ignitus muttered, his composure and posture wavering, "I think the Ancestors have sent us another savior."
