Makoto Nanaya had hoped when she arrived to the 6th Hierarchical city of Ibukido where Professor Kokonoe had made it her home she would find her answers as to how she should proceed towards her goals. All she got was nothing but orders to stand down and do nothing which simply fueled further frustration within her. To make matters worse, she had managed to listen in on crucial information regarding her friend Tsubaki Yayoi that has influenced her to act much sooner than later. The question that we had to ask was simply, how was she going to handle it?

And now, the continuation of Canon Distortion

Makoto Nanaya laid on the bed given to her by Kagura, no longer resting in his room but in her own room. She should be trying to relax but the facts and information she found out from her little eavesdropping of Kokonoe and Kagura's conversation made her mind rush as she had decided on what she was doing. As she continued to wait, a knock was heard on the door as she approached and opened the door, seeing Caroline standing in front of her door.

"I brought what you asked for. Further tune ups for your mechanical arm as well as some power adjusting like you asked." Caroline said as Makoto took a deep breath. "Thanks for fulfilling the last minute request. You must have been busy working on that Rev project of yours." Makoto said as Caroline shook her head. "You're kidding me? I have been wanting to test out some extra equipment that I have been developing for the rev system and I just happened to have extra bits lying around. You sure about this though?" Caroline asked as Makoto nodded her head.

"I can't afford to stay here. I've got to keep moving, keep finding answers. I am sure the others would be confused by choice here but I am running out of time and explaining something as crazy as me trying to find where my boyfriend is to a group of people who don't know who said boyfriend is would make me look bad." Makoto explained as Caroline nodded her head at that. "Well that may be true. But just don't rush yourself over a cliff. Sora needs you alive. Not a corpse." Caroline explained as Makoto nodded her head.

"I know… I keep telling myself that but I also know I don't have that much time left. I've got to act now otherwise things will become worse for me down in the line. And I don't want to be under the receiving end of it." Makoto explained as Caroline couldn't help but smile. "In that case, do what you think you need to do. I won't be able to help much working from here since the good professor likes to keep tabs on people various means but I hope the upgrades I gave that arm of yours help." Caroline explained as Makoto reattached the arm to her stump as Caroline nodded her head.

"Just...Just be careful out there. With everything going on in the world right now, your problems are not the same as everyone else's. People must have told you that you're insane but I thought I would say it just in case." Caroline explained as her eyes were on the Rev Blade, resting on the frame of Makoto's bed as she smiled. "Don't worry about me Caroline. I'm used to being the odd one out all throughout my life. This will be no different." Makoto explained as Caroline smiled at that.

"In any case. Take care out there boss." Caroline said with a smile on her face as she left Makoto to her own devices as she looked at the upgraded prosthetic arm that Caroline gave her as it still looked like it was but she could tell that Caroline had taken extra care to preserve it's original look. 'To think you would go this far to help me out despite knowing that it doesn't really benefit you the slightest… you really are a good person huh Caroline.' Makoto thought as she reattached the limb to her stump and began to prepare herself.

She had already decided on what she was going to do. The Otsu four heads, bless their hearts, managed to escape capture and was now in the middle of trying to keep Otsu under their control. Makoto had decided to return to Otsu because of a few reasons. Firstly, it was where Tsubaki was and if she could get Tsubaki to be by herself she could try and convince her to break away from the NOL and join up with everyone else here in Yabiko.

The second and more personal reason was to confront Relius Clover and talk to him about the boundary itself. She did not want to come to this but she knew she had to get her answers. Deals with devils never go the right way at the end of the day but at the same time so does sitting around and doing nothing for what seemed like an eternity before being able to do anything. Makoto knew the consequences of her decision very well and was simply committing to her choice and her convictions at this point.

It was then she felt her phone vibrate as she saw the person who was contacting her and quickly picked up. "Your transport back to Otsu is ready and waiting for you at Yabiko's international airport. Don't take too long to get to it. It won't be there for long." Tetsu explained as Makoto simply nodded her head and gave a small grunt of approval to what he had said. "Thanks for arranging this whole thing. I understand that you have been holding things as much as you can in Otsu and it must be rough."

"Well of course we have been prepared somewhat for a retaliation attempt by the NOL for our actions. Still doesn't mean we had all the time in the world." Tetsu explained as Makoto did the final checks on her gear. "I understand. But how long do you think you guys will be able to hold out there?" Makoto questioned as Tetsu simply remained silent before answering. "As long as we can. If we have to we will abandon the city but not before we give the NOL a final middle finger doing so." Tetsu explained as Makoto nodded her head at that, understand what that implied.

"Just don't do that before I get to Otsu please. I really need Otsu intact please." Makoto begged as she heard the sounds of shuffling and pushing. "Of course Komrade Makoto! We will hold the fort as long as we can! We got all sorts of toys to use against our NOL friends here! They won't know what is coming to them!" Vlad said, his hearty laugh being heard through the phone as Makoto simply chuckled.

"I will hold you to it. In the mean time I need to get going now. Talk to you guys later." Makoto said, finishing up the call as she looked at the Rev blade resting on the wall as she reached for her necklace and pulled it out. 'Am I really doing what's right right now? Or am I going down a path that leads to my own destruction.' Makoto thought, wondering if these kinds of thoughts would linger in Sora's mind sometimes. The doubt that the path he had taken in life may have been the wrong one this entire time.

'Then again… You never really did think much didn't you. You always acted on what your heart wanted. Being selfish for yourself for your own wishes.' Makoto further thought as she kissed the metal dog tag containing Sora's sigil. She couldn't help but think back to a few months ago, standing in front of the door that lead to the world's truth and being told that Sora Minakaze, her best friend, her lover was nothing but a tool for the gods. It made her question if someone as ordinary as her compared to what she has seen so far could even stand up to such supernatural forces.

Yet all it took was for her to remember the words that Sora had left for her. How they couldn't speak to how others felt and should pursue their own desires, their own wants. Sacrificing the many for the few things they do have. "You were always one reckless son of a bitch Sora… but you were… are my reckless son of a bitch." Makoto said to herself as she grabbed the Rev Blade and attached it to her back, the hunk of metal that represented Sora's will and hope giving Makoto the strength she needed to keep on moving regardless of the wishes of the world.

"Hang in there Sora… I'll be there as soon as I can make it." Makoto thought as she opened the door, exiting through as she slowly made her way towards the front door of the NOL building. She had not told anybody a thing about her plans, knowing the exact reactions from the crowd. Professor Kokonoe would try to have Tager restrain her while Tager would be following Professor Kokonoe's orders.

Kagura would side with Kokonoe on the matter and ask Hibiki to help Tager with her detainment, saying something stupid but playboy like he cannot hurt a fair maiden like her as an attempt to woo her and Noel and Hunter would feel compelled to come with her in order to try and talk some reason and sense to Tsubaki and while their intentions may be genuine for Tsubaki, Makoto had a lot of other things on her plate and thus didn't want to trouble them with what she has deemed to be unnecessary information for them to know.

'So it has be me alone… and in secret too. I feel bad leaving them this soon after we just got back but I need to do this.' Makoto thought as she approached the front entrance of the NOL headquarters. So far, if she had done things right, she would be walking through this front door with nobody none the wiser, people would realize she left too late and won't be able to chase after her as her hand slowly reached out for the handle of the door.

"And where are you planning on going Miss Nanaya?" A voice called as Makoto couldn't help but mouth out a swear as she turned around to see Iron Tager standing a few meters away, his arms on his hips as he sternly stared at her like a parent would their child. "Oh you know… just going on a stroll is all." Makoto said, trying to play it cool as Tager looked at her with a brow on his face. "With a weapon behind your back now." Tager continued as Makoto chuckled.

Makoto: I mean… a girl's got to protect herself out there. Even someone who knows martial arts like me

Tager: Uh huh…

Makoto: Oh come on big guy! There's no need to be like that! I mean Noel carries around handguns essentially and you guys don't complain about her doing that!

Tager: I see… so where are you planning on heading exactly.

Makoto: Oh you know… explore the streets, see what is out there to enjoy. The works you know.

"Enjoy the works you say. Hmmm I would agree to such things if it wasn't for the fact the professor asked me to bring you in for questioning about something." Tager said as Makoto couldn't help but tch as she tried to play it cool. "Oh? And what else would she want to ask me about. I thought she told me everything she wanted to tell me." Makoto said, attempting to whistle as she fiddled with her fingers behind her back.

"Don't play dumb with me Makoto Nanaya. I know that you were listening to me and Kagura's conversation." Kokonoe suddenly said, her voice coming out from a communicator as a hologram image of her appeared in front of Makoto. "You know, your secret spy skills must be getting rusty a bit. Never expected you to be one of the few people who lets her guard down like this. I thought you would have been more careful to check for cameras." Kokonoe continued as Makoto bit her lip, realizing she had missed that one crucial detail listening to the professor's conversation.

'Shit… How on earth did I miss something like that in the first place?' Makoto thought as she sighed, realizing the jig was up. "Yes I did listen to your conversation with Kagura? So?" Makoto questioned as she could somehow guess where this was going to go next as she couldn't help but feel tense. Her beastkin senses telling her that things were going to get ugly and for her to prepare herself just in case for the inevitable.

"So I need you to stay here so me and Kagura can discuss with you what you found out. So… Are you going to play nice or is Tager going to have to bring you down forcibly for questioning." Kokonoe said, her voice deadly serious as Makoto could feel her senses telling her to be careful at that moment. One wrong move and she would be forced into what felt like eternal servitude under Professor Kokonoe. Taking a deep breath, Makoto made her final choice then and there.

"I'm sorry professor. There's something I really need to do right now." Makoto said as with a flick of a finger from her new mechanical arm, the door behind her suddenly blasted right off, surprising Tager and Kokonoe in the process as Makoto used that as her chance to make a break for it. One of the enhancements Caroline made was in part to help better tune Makoto's drive to her new mechanical arm. The flick's damage a result of her being able to channel her drive's energy to that point, something she would struggle with thanks to her below average ars magus apititude.

"You aren't escaping! Tager after her!" Kokonoe said as Tager pushed his glasses up before threads manifested right at his feet, allowing him to quickly chase after Makoto as she ran down the stairs. As she did so she had to turn her head around to notice the big red devil chasing after her, taking her focus away from her front where as soon as she finished walking down the flight of stairs she felt her body crash into someone else in the process, causing her ass to eat dirt and for her to make a swift and quick recovery in the process.

'Ow. My tailbone!' Makoto thought as she looked up to see who she had bumped into. "Ow. What was that Makoto!?" Hunter questioned as Makoto couldn't help but feel the color on her face leave her as behind him came Noel and the girl she had seen them chasing after. "Makoto? Why are you running all of the sudden?" Noel questioned as soon, she got the answer she was looking for as tager's tank threads could be heard going down the stairs, paving the stairs in the process due to the immense weight he had.

"Hunter! Noel! Help Tager restrain Makoto! She's trying to make a break for it! Celica get back here now!" Kokonoe shouted through the communicator as Makoto bit down on her lip at her rotten luck. "Makoto… What's going on." Hunter said sternly as Makoto slowly stood up. "I'm sorry you two. I can't say anything right now. But I am heading back to Otsu now." Makoto said as she didn't need her beastkin instincts to tell her that her friends would oppose such an idea from her.

"Woah! Slow down Makoto! What brought this up all of a sudden!?" Hunter asked, shocked by his friend's declaration as Makoto shook her head. "I know what I had just said and I am telling you guys right now I am sorry for bailing right now. But there's something only I can do and I need to do it right now!" Makoto continued as she tried to walk past her friends only to have her way blocked by Hunter in the process.

"I cannot let you just go all of a sudden without giving us a damn explanation Makoto!" Hunter demanded as Makoto soon bit her lip as Tager used the chance given by Hunter's blocking to block the main direct path in front of Makoto. "Please stop with this resistance Makoto Nanaya! If you just come with us and talk things out. I am sure we can come to a concensus." Tager said, trying to maintain a sense of common sense in what was clearly breaking down negotiation talk at this point.

"I am not resisting, I just really need to do this right now!" Makoto shouted as she didn't want to harm anybody but if she had to use her fists to fight her way out of her current situation, she will have to. "I don't understand what is going on. But I don't think it's wise to be fighting like this." The girl finally spoke up, surprising everyone as Makoto looked at her with some shock on her face. "And you are?" Makoto said, her mind racing as she had several thoughts racing through her mind at that moment.

"I'm Celica A Mercury. Makoto Nanaya is it? It's nice to meet you." Celica said as looked top to bottom of this new mystery person that had raised their voice. A red ribbon tied her hair into a nice ponytail as she was around Noel and her age in fact, a bit younger she dared to say. Her uniform was something that she had never seen before as it was clearly a school uniform but what school would ask their students to wear a cape as not even the NOL Academy asked such things from their students.

"What are you doing Celica! I told you to come back in right now!" Kokonoe shouted as Celica simply ignored her. "I understand that things must be tense for you right now. So why don't we go back inside and just talk things out. I'm sure we can have some nice sweets from the professor if we asked nicely." Celica continued as Makoto felt uneasy about her. Sure her sweet demeanor was the first comforting thing about her but it wasn't her personality or intentions that made her feel something was off, it was something deep inside her.

"Celica. I understand how you feel but I cannot oblige that request. I don't have any qualms against you but please don't make things harder than it has to be." Makoto thought as she tensed her fist, trying to channel another ars magus flick but found herself strangely unable to do so. 'What on Earth?! My ars magus isn't working the way it's supposed to be.' Makoto thought as Celica shook her head. "There's no need to be so stubborn Makoto. I am sure you and your friends can talk things out." Celica said as Makoto sighed. Deciding to not put too much focus on her inability to use Ars magus as she rarely used it in the first place.

"I understand if you're thinking I am neglecting my friends… but it's because they are my friends I have to do this. So let me through! Everyone!" Makoto yelled as she charged right towards Tager, briefly passing Hunter in the way as she felt him grab her arm in the process to stop her. "I'm sorry Makoto. I'm with Celica at this moment. You can tell us all about what is on your…" But before Hunter could finish his sentence, Makoto forcibly pried his hands off her and continued to make a break for the entrance.

"God Makoto listen to us for a moment!" Hunter shouted as he reached his hand to try and grab Makoto's wrist but Makoto did not bother listening at that point, throwing his hands out as Noel could see an expression form on Makoto's face. A look of regret as Noel wondered what that could have meant as Makoto tried to continue making a break for the exit. Noel wasn't given much thought as Makoto accidentally bumped her shoulder, causing her to drop to the ground as Noel immediately reacted by reaching out for bolverk and attempting to do a pistol whip right at Makoto's neck.

At that moment, Makoto sensed danger coming right for her as she leaned back, allowing the Rev Blade to block her attack as Makoto's attention was pulled for that moment, allowing Tager the chance to try and magnetize her with a quick rushing electro ball. As if it was like magic however, Makoto felt a sensation hit her by the back of her head as she immediately leaned back, allowing her to dodge said electro ball as it harmlessly struck a metal pole and magnetized that instead.

To the others, it had seemed like Makoto got lucky but to Makoto, something was a bit off with her last dodge. 'What...What was that?' Makoto wondered as she shook her head, realizing she was wasting time thinking about stuff like that when she could have just made a break for it. Running full speed ahead, Makoto did not hesitate one bit as she pulled the Rev Blade out and held it in front of her like a massive shield. Behind Tager was the next step of stairs that she would need to walk down but if Tager was just going to try and use his threads to chase after her there was something better she could do.

'Please work like how I think it should.' Makoto thought as she used the metal surface of the Rev Blade to shove the red devil off balance, giving Makoto the chance to jump as high as she could before descending down the stairs in a violent manner. Makoto then angled the metal sword to ride it down the stairs, gripping it tightly with her prosthetic arm as she had turned the Rev Blade into a makeshift snowboard, grinding on the rail for as long as she could all the way down.

"Dammit! Noel! Hunter! Go after your friend! I cannot risk having Tager go out into the city and letting the NOL know of our presence here!" Kokonoe reported as Tager looked at Noel and Hunter before nodding his head. "I'll leave this situation to you two. Come on Celica we need to go inside now." Tager said, placing a massive hand behind the girl's tiny back as she simply nodded, following the red devil back inside as Hunter and Noel nodded their heads, understanding what is their next task.

"WAIT! MAKOTO!" Noel shouted as she gave chase to Makoto. Her feet not letting up as Hunter remained calm and quiet, following Noel's lead and gave chase to Makoto. Noel walked down the stairs but Hunter was not going to do that. Instead he raised Draco, the maw like thing that he often carried along with him and from it's flame emerged a small board for him to ride on. Riding on said board, Hunter glided down the flight of stairs as Makoto finished descending down and sheathed the Rev Blade to begin her escape.

As soon as she did, she could feel her ars magus slowly come back to her. Whatever caused it to be blocked released up as Makoto knew she had to try and do something to slow Hunter and Noel down some more. It was then she saw a light pole and ran up to it. Smashing it as hard as she could with her prosthetic fist, the pole was immediately smashed and slowly began to tip over. While this made a poor obstacle, that was never Makoto's intention as Hunter and Noel immediately reacted to the situation in front of them.

Noel decided to jump the rest of the stairs down and quickly form a barrier, blocking the initial impact of the pole from crashing to the ground. It was then that Hunter jumped in the air and sliced it right in half, letting the two pieces of the pole drop down on the ground as quietly as they could do so as the two continued to give chase. "God dammit Makoto! Why are you being stubborn all of the sudden!" Hunter said out loud, voicing out his current frustration over his friend's strange behavior.

'I'm Sorry Hunter. I wish I really could tell you and Noel really but… It's better that you two don't know about things right now.' Makoto thought. The pain she felt having to keep things a secret from Noel and Hunter made her feel like she was backstabbing her friends. But also if she didn't do something as drastic as this then they would be caught in the crossfire of her trying to search for her own goal. She couldn't afford to sacrifice one over the other so secrecy was the path she chose.

As she continued to make her way down Yabiko's port. A fluttering feeling on her stomach began to grow. She felt light on the head as for some reason the sensation she felt when she dodged Tager's attempt at magnetizing her came back as she stopped running only to see flame like chains emerge in front of her and Hunter dashing with them to stand right at her path again. Makoto realized if she had continued to run down the path, Hunter could have snagged her by the gigantic maw and caught her then and there.

"Dammit Makoto! Enough of this running around! We're here for you! You can tell us what is on your mind and forget about this running nonsense!" Hunter begged as Makoto bit down on her lips. She wanted to say it so badly but she couldn't as to not bother wasting her breath, she furiously shook her head no. "I don't want to hurt you… but if roughly handling you is the only way to get you to cooperate then so be it!" Hunter shouted as he lunged at Makoto, deciding to use his hands instead of Draco to not inflict harm to Makoto.

Makoto threw a punch right at Hunter's direction, trying her best to not put the whole weight under her punch but Hunter was quick to dodge, weaving his head away from her strike as it was his turn to return a blow, managing to slip through her guard and grabbing the back of her shirt's collar to try and force her down to the ground while simultaneously restraining her hand. Makoto was not going to have it as she used a head butt to immediately create distance.

Hunter however was not going to have any of it as he gripped Makoto's shoulders tightly to try and return a headbutt of his own. Makoto realizing what was going to happen next, raised the Rev Arm right at where Hunter's head butt was going to land and made Hunter's head slam right onto the metal itself. Her arm vibrated as Hunter rubbed his forehead in pain, metal not meaning to touch muscle and skin as his forehead skin slightly split.

'Trust me Hunter… I don't want to hurt you too.' Makoto thought as she waited for Hunter to try and made another punch as she pushed it to the side, cocking her mechanical arm back in the process. 'But I have no choice if I want to keep you and Noel safe in my own way!' Makoto finished as she delivered a liver blow enhanced by her drive to shake Hunter to his core. A punch like that delivered to any normal person would immediately make them drop to the ground and Hunter was no exception as He held his side, the pain he felt as his liver screamed out as Makoto wasted no time trying to make a break for the port at that moment.

"Sorry Hunter." Makoto said to herself as she ran as fast as she could. She tried to not look at the sight and focus on the goal ahead of her as she didn't want to be a burden to anybody else if she could help it. She also felt bad that she had to resort to hurting Hunter the way she did but she had to if she wanted to keep him safe from her own crazy world. The only other person she had not seen at this point was Noel and at this point she had hoped she didn't have to fight Noel otherwise she may not be able to keep her emotions in check.

'Almost there. Just a few more streets down. Then…' Before Makoto could even finish that thought, there stood Noel Vermillion, right at her path as Makoto bit down on her lips at what she was witnessing. "Makoto Nanaya… I may not be an officer anymore but please stop resisting and put your hands up!" Noel said, pulling bolverk and pointing it right at Makoto. Makoto herself was shocked by Noel's bravery to point her own gun at her friend as Makoto tried to take a step forward only for Noel to shoot a warning shot at the air.

"DON'T MOVE! I don't want to hurt you Makoto but if it will make you stop running and talk to us then I will do it!" Noel shouted as Makoto herself couldn't help but be surprised by Noel's straight forward talk for once as Makoto tensed her own hands. "I don't want to hurt you too… but I have stuff I need to do… stuff that if I stay here in Yabiko I may not be able to do." Makoto said, trying to restrain herself from speaking further as she knew that any more talk and she might cause more confusion than help her case.

Noel: But why though!? I thought we were friends Makoto! I thought we could tell each other anything! The way you're acting right now is reminding me of the first time we met back at the academy!

Makoto: I am really sorry if it seems I am trying to give you the cold shoulder. I am trying my best to protect you and Hunter in my own way.

Noel: Protect us? Where are you heading to Makoto! You're making me worried with all of this secrecy you have decided to use instead of just talking to us!

Makoto:Like I said, I really want to tell you and Hunter. You know how much it hurts to keep this away from you two but I need to do this.

Noel:… Does… Does this have something to do with Tsubaki by any chance?

As soon as Noel said that, Makoto's mind began to race. What should she say at that moment? If she remained quiet, Noel would simply presume that she was right and beg for Makoto to take her along to try and convince Tsubaki about the wrong path she was taking. When that happens, Hunter will tag along as well to make sure she was alright in the first place. So silence was not going to work in this case, Makoto knew she had to say something or else.

"I am truly sorry. I have to keep things a secret for the time being. I would like to tell you what is truly going on but I need to keep things silent. I truly am sorry." Makoto apologized as she tensed her fist, ready to fight against Noel if she had to as she saw her best friend take a deep breath before looking at her right at the eye, waiting for her response. "I don't understand why you need to keep things a secret right now… and that's why I cannot just let you go Makoto." Noel said, pointing bolverk right at Makoto's direction once more.

"I don't want to lose any of my friends… not again." Noel said as Makoto couldn't help but smile at her friend's determination. 'Geez… when did you suddenly become all grown up Noel.' Makoto thought as she looked down on the ground. Feel a bit proud at her friend's growth, not letting the fact that she was responsible… even if she was unaware about it, for her current situation. "Then you will have to stop me with force Noellie. And I don't intend to go easy on you like our sparring session days back at the academy." Makoto said out loud, pumping her fists as Hunter soon came running behind.

"Stay out of this Hunty! I will handle Makoto!" Noel shouted as Hunter found himself stopping himself dead on his tracks. He wanted to oppose such an idea but seeing the look of determination on his face made him feel weak all of the sudden. Silence soon greeted the two before Hunter softly smiled. "In that case, I will do just that. Just make sure this thick headed squirrel understands we care for her." Hunter said as he walked to the side to watch things from the sidelines. Makoto wanted to rebel at such a comment but knew he was right in saying such a thing.

"Like you said Makoto. I don't want you to hold back on me. This time… go all out for once!" Noel said as she entered stance. Makoto slowly took a deep breath as she relaxed her body before assuming a fighting stance once more. Makoto did not feel any sort of animosity coming out of Noel, in fact it was the opposite. It felt like Noel was trying to fight Makoto to get to understand her current situation much better than it current was. In that sense, Makoto could not help but smile not at just at her friend's growth…

… but at the fact that this might be the only chance she may have to bury certain dark feelings she had at that moment…

GREETINGS LOST SHEEP OF FANFICTION! HOW IS EVERYONE DOING IN THIS FINE DAY!? I hope you all are doing well wherever you might be and have gotten your vaccine shots for COVID-19 when you can. The situation out there is getting worse and with more and more variants of 1 disease coming out, we all got to do our parts to try and return back to a normal life. But also make sure to take care of your mental health in the process and try not to go insane in the process.
