Makoto Nanaya's eyes slowly opened to allow her to take in her surroundings. The first thing her eyes were greeted with was the sight of what looked to be the roof of the ceiling. She slowly got up from the bed she was resting only to feel something hard resting by her side, keeping her planted on the bed as she took a deep breath and with a single push of her hand, managed to awaken the person or move the thing that was keeping her pinned to the bed.
As soon as she did what she did, she could hear the stumbling followed by the crash and burn of Sora Minakaze as she could hear him groan slightly as leaned her head over to see what had happened only to chuckle at what she had seen. Sora Minakaze had gracelessly tumbled out of her chair, rubbing the back of his head as he groaned quite a bit, his shirt slightly undone as he looked at Makoto with a bit of a bewildered look.
"W-What had happened!?" Sora questioned as he had thought he had fallen from the bed through a natural disaster or something else happening, not that Makoto had just pushed him off the bed and his tumble was a result of that. He had the look of a deer with headlights before he noticed the small chuckle that Makoto was making at that moment. "Haha real funny Makoto." Sora simply said as he went to Makoto's side only to feel her pull him towards her breasts, planting his face on her boobs in the process.
"This makes you feel better Sora?" Makoto teased, understanding that what she did to Sora could be seen as a little mean. Sora merely pouted a bit before pulling his head out of her breasts and simply placing a hand on her breast instead, allowing her to feel his grip on her boob, making her giggle even more. "That's good to see. I do hope that you like my little puppies." Makoto teased further as Sora sighed a bit.
"Well, it's good to see you being this energetic after your little stunt." Sora explained as Makoto looked at him with slight confusion in her face. "What? Did you forget what had happened?" Sora said as it took a little bit more for Makoto to piece together what Sora was trying to say at that moment before she gasped and take a small deep breath upon having her realization. Her eyes then went towards her arm stump, staring at it for a bit before she took a deep breath.
As she did so, she could feel a sensation slowly come back to her stump. She did not think hard to then feel the sensation of an arm tensing to a fist. Her eyes were then drawn towards what she was seeing, her normal astral fist but instead of being a massive fist that she makes through Ars Magus but instead a normal sized arm that floated where her arm would have been, it's black and red glow drawing her eyes towards it.
"That's right… we were sparring for a little bit and I discovered that by forming a contract with you I was gaining new powers. I decided to try using them and this is one of the side effects I am guessing?" Makoto explained as Sora nodded his head upon hearing that. "Tell me Makoto, does your body feel sore in any way? A chest pain of any sort?" Sora questioned as Makoto thought about what Sora had just told her as she felt a sensation overtake her at that moment as she could see a fist approaching her way.
Out of sheer instinct, Makoto ducked her head to the left, bobbing her head away from Sora's fist as Sora himself threw a surprise fist towards her direction. Sora himself made sure to hold back his punch, not throwing with full power but with enough that it would force Makoto to react. Makoto couldn't help but blink her eyes a few times as she realized that she had bobbed her head but it was not her normal dodge.
"Did...Did I?" "Just dodge my attack but it felt like you saw it coming a mile away?" Sora immediately answered as Makoto simply nodded her head upon hearing that. "Yeah that is the power of Balmung… The power of my drive you must have experienced." Sora explained as Makoto couldn't help but look at her ghost hand upon hearing that. "The power of Balmung…" Makoto muttered to herself as Sora gave her some time to process what she had just heard.
"So umm… does that mean I can do what you normally do?" Makoto questioned as Sora nodded his head upon hearing that. "You can… but I don't know how much you can really change nor the degree of the change you can influence." Sora explained as Makoto nodded her head at that. "But still… to think that I would possess the level of power that you would have in my hands. Is this what you felt most of the time when you used your drive?" Makoto questioned, prompting Sora to question her back with his own series of questions.
Sora: What do you mean by that exactly?
Makoto: I mean, you get to see what is coming towards you in the future and react to it before it can harm you in any way. It's really the ultimate cheat skill for anybody to have!
Sora: I see what you mean there but to be honest, it does have some limits.
Makoto: Limits?
Sora: Yeah. For one thing I can only see my future. I can't use my drive to see what will happen to other people and what I see is only the end result of my future instead of the cause of it. Another thing is that it's a bitch to keep using because I always feel the pain when I use the drive, like no matter how much of the future I change the pain follows me.
"Damn… that actually sucks." Makoto moaned as Sora saw her lie down on her bed once again, resting her head on the soft pillow as she took a deep sigh. "But regardless… that amount of power is nothing but god like right?" Makoto questioned as Sora looked at her when she said that, taking his time to process what he had just heard. "I mean, the ability to change the result of what is coming your way is something only gods would have no?" Makoto explained as Sora nodded his head upon hearing that
"I mean...when you put it like that, Yeah it can be seen as a god like power." Sora agreed as Makoto took a deep breath upon hearing Sora agree with her statement. "But you know… I don't think I want to depend on that kind of power in a fight, let alone in my daily life." Makoto said as Sora simply smiled upon hearing that. "That's fine and all but neglecting it is just as bad. Good thing you have someone who is used to using said power to help you." Sora said as Makoto smiled upon hearing that.
"What? You aren't going to try and persuade me to not use the power? Aren't you afraid of me getting hurt?" Makoto questioned as Sora simply placed his left hand on Makoto's stump. "You have been willing to go through the pain and suffering to get me back here. You lost an arm and instead of staying down you got back up. There' no point in me trying to persuade you otherwise. You are strong enough by yourself." Sora explained as Makoto couldn't help but smile upon hearing that statement.
"So at the very least, if you are going to keep using the power you have gained, the least I can do is make sure you know how to use your new power to the best of your abilities and not have to leave things to chance. Better to know something rather than pretend it doesn't exist and try to use it later." Sora continued as Makoto couldn't help but give Sora a kiss at that moment. Sora was surprised to receive such a thing at that moment.
"Hehehe, that's for buttering up your girlfriend mister." Makoto teased as Sora scratched the back of his head before smiling. "You know… getting kisses from your girlfriend is a nice thing." Sora said as Makoto couldn't help but pull him towards her breasts once again. "I cannot help it. After not seeing you for so long, I just want to spoil you rotten." Makoto said as Sora chuckled before getting a bit more serious.
"Thanks for saying that but at the same time, We should go and let the others know that you are alright. We don't want them worrying about you any longer than they need to." Sora explained as Makoto nodded her head upon hearing that. "Yeah you're right. I did faint in a way that would make the others worry. I should at the very least make sure they see I am alright." Makoto said as Sora couldn't help but nod his head in agreement.
Makoto stood up on her two feet, Sora ready to lead the way only to feel his hand be held as he turned to see Makoto holding his hand. There was no need for Sora to say anything at that moment as he pulled her in closer to him, their hands remaining intertwined as walked out of the room, heading towards the cafeteria to check if everyone else was having dinner at that moment. The long empty hallways of the NOL base being their only company.
Sora and Makoto could have had a conversation at that moment but they instead chose to remain silent, enjoying the silence with each other. There was no need for words or overly sexual actions, only silence and just being next to each other was all they needed to enjoy each other. They had been away from each other for so long that they just wished to enjoy it all. The times they can talk to each other and also the quiet times.
"You know what Sora… This is nice." Makoto said to break the silence as Sora smiled and nodded his head upon hearing that. "Yeah… it just took us being torn apart and a god hell bent on erasing me for us to appreciate the small moments like this." Sora said as Makoto snuggled up closer to Sora upon hearing what he had said. The warmth they felt in their hands was real to them and that was all they needed to affirm to each other that they exist at that moment.
"Just...Just a bit longer...let me get this out of my system alright." Makoto said as Sora could feel her push her breasts onto his arm as Sora smiled at this simple gesture and replied by resting his head on hers, his mouth playfully nibbling on Makoto's squirrel ear, making her shiver as he could hear the swaying of her tail upon that action. "Don't go getting horny on me alright. Don't need to ruin this nice moment we have together right now." Sora said as Makoto turned red and simply hugged his arm even tighter upon hearing that.
"Idiot Sora. I don't need you making horny before I go and see my friends." Makoto said as Sora simply smiled and nodded his head on hers, letting her know that he was in agreement. Soon they arrived at their destination, the NOL Cafeteria but something was off. The normally lively cafeteria sounded empty as Sora reached out to open the door at that moment. "Do you think that the others are planning to surprise us?" Makoto questioned as Sora shrugged, unsure what was going to happen next but knew to expect anything at this point.
"There's only one way to find out." Sora simply said as he placed his hand on the door and slowly opened the cafeteria for both him and Makoto to see. They were shocked to see that the lights of the Cafeteria were on but nobody was there to greet them. Nobody except for Caroline as she ran right towards the Direction of Sora and Makoto. "Boss! Makoto! You both are here!" Caroline shouted as Sora quickly stepped out of the way as Makoto could see what was going to happen to her next.
Makoto could see herself being violently tackled by Caroline towards the door and right into a pillar. Acting out of instinct, her newfound drive activated to let see what she needed to do in order to not have what she saw happen as she quickly stepped to the side and allowed her hand to grab Caroline safely by her stomach before she herself went running towards the pillar. Sora secretly nodded his head upon seeing what Makoto had just done as she took a deep breath at her successful action.
"What's the matter Caroline? You sound like you just saw a ghost or something like that." Makoto explained as Caroline nodded her head feverishly. "Well of course I did! Everyone else has just vanished!" Caroline said, alarming both Sora and Makoto at that moment as they couldn't believe what they had just heard. "Woah slow down right there Caroline. What do you mean everyone's just gone?" Sora questioned.
"My. To think that there are people that still remain in this world." A voice echoed as Both Sora and Makoto instinctively assumed a fighting stance, pressing their backs to each other while making sure Caroline was protected from danger. "Who goes there!?" Makoto questioned out loudly as Sora recognized the sound of the voice and simply chose to remain quiet for now, figuring it would be better to let Makoto take the lead for this one.
"You would do well to learn some manners… Nobody." The voice continued as both Sora and Makoto sensed danger coming their way and promptly grabbed Caroline at the same time to jump out of danger. The ground where they had stood immediately had a massive skull emerge out of the ground and attempt to devour them in the process. Both Sora and Makoto kept their heads in a swivel as Caroline tapped them on the shoulder to point them towards the person that was in front of them.
"Is that… The former Imperator?" Caroline said as both Makoto and Sora looked at her direction, noticing the person that was standing in front of them now. Her purple hair and red eyes simply glared at their direction as the robes she wore obscured her entire body except for her face. Makoto couldn't help but stare for a while as she felt something familiar yet wrong at the same time. "Noellie? Is that you?" Makoto questioned as Sora was quick to place his hand on Makoto's chest to stop her from approaching any further.
"I do not know why myself, but that woman is the Imperator… well former Imperator by the sounds of it. And she has Noel's face for some reason." Sora explained as Makoto nodded her head upon hearing that, understanding the seriousness of the situation in front of them. "And it is good to see that you survived your erasure...Error." The former Imperator said as Sora and Makoto couldn't help but freeze upon hearing her say that.
"How do you even remember my name...Izanami." Sora said as both Makoto and Caroline looked at Sora in surprise at the fact she knew him directly. "Why I can never forget the smell of death that lingers on an individual such as yourself. Especially one that belongs to a Black beast of all things." Izanami explained as Makoto and Caroline's eyes darted between both Sora and Izanami before they fully focused on Izanami, recognizing the danger she currently posed.
"But I am getting ahead of myself. You must be wondering how I am able to wander these halls when your colleagues should be here already to help you all with your current situation no?" Izanami questioned as Sora slowly nodded his head in agreement with her statement. "Why it's simple really, the end of this world, no of all worlds has begun. And they are all fighting for the chance to be able to create the world they desire." Izanami explained.
"The world they desire?" Makoto questioned as Izanami turned to face her. "Indeed, the world they desire, the chosen ones." Izanami explained as everyone in the room simply looked at each other confused by what that could mean. "And where is this desire being granted? The big blue ball in the sky?" Sora questioned as Izanami smiled upon hearing him say that. "Why how astute of you. What made you think of that in the first place?" Izanami questioned as Sora took a deep breath upon hearing his guess was correct.
"Why it's simply because that big blue ball in the sky has to be for something important. They also mentioned that you had a role to play in the situation we are in so it tells me that you had something to do with the blue ball too." Sora theorized as Izanami couldn't help but make a coy smile. "And what are you going to do about it hmmm? You should be able to tell that by being here, it means that you lot lack the qualifications needed to be with them." Izanami replied as Makoto and Caroline could feel the weight of the current situation overwhelm their minds but they knew better than to panic and just let the situation play out.
"We will figure something out… but something tells me that you are not here to have a cordial conversation with us now." Sora explained as Izanami simply smiled upon hearing that. Her eyes then leaned in closer to the three in front of her. "A lost Nox Nyctores and the reincarnation of the Black Beast. His latest owner and a person who should have long become seithr yet hasn't. I am just here to observe what is in front of me is all." Izanami explained.
"I am not the owner of anything Miss Izanami. I am just here trying to protect what I got." Makoto explained as Caroline herself looked around for a bit, trying to think of a comeback for her to use before she nodded her head. "And I cannot disappear! Not when my life's work is at stake!" Caroline said as both Sora and Makoto looked at her and shook their heads. "Caroline Patricia Smith. A woman who in any other timeline would have been eradicated from all points of relevancy. Perhaps your connection with the Error is the reason you are able to exist as you are right now despite your clear lack of a tangible desire other than your own want and need." Izanami said
"Y-You know! We aren't just your little circus show that will do everything that you want us to do!" Caroline retorted out before Sora and Makoto were forced to shield her when her glare towards Caroline. "And I do not recall needing to be entertained by such a paltry display. Do not make me change my mind from giving you mercy to giving you a most painful death." Izanami warned as she felt glares return her direction.
"Regardless. Now that I have seen the three in front of me that remain in this world that awaits destruction. I have completed all I have set out to do on this little field trip of mine." Izanami said as she turned, ready to make her exit out of the area only. Sora and Caroline were ready to let her go but Makoto was not going to let her go just yet. "If everyone's at the big blue ball in the sky, tell us how we are going to get in ourselves!" Makoto shouted as she even dared to approach the former imperator herself.
"M-Makoto what are you…" But before Caroline could stop Makoto from approaching the imperator herself any further, Sora stopped her from doing so. "You do know what Makoto's about to do right?" Caroline questioned as Sora quietly nodded his head. It was then she could see Sora secretly creating something with his now demonic looking left hand, ready to react at any moment as Makoto got closer to the Imperator's face.
"If you are going to go through all this trouble just to pay us a damn visit, the least you can do is tell us how we can get to where everyone else is so we can rescue their damn asses." Makoto said, a stern voice directed the Imperator's way. "I know to you it seems like we are just putting on a mere show for you, but for me, Sora and Caroline here, we would put our necks for them. So why don't you be a good little former imperator and give us something we can use." Makoto said as danger suddenly crawled up her back at that moment.
With the new ability of visions gained from forming a contract with Balmung, she could see the danger, a massive skeletal hand piercing through her sides manifest in her mind, telling her of her fate. With her natural beastkin instincts, she was able to manuever away from the attack in such a manner that it required minimal effort, reducing the strain her body would have felt from doing so. However she was still a new born child with her newly gained power so while she dodged the initial fatal attack, Izanami did not hesitate to try and have Makoto's head be devoured by a massive skeletal head coming from the ground.
That was when Sora pulled out his secret trick that he had been hiding, reaching out with his left arm which extended to grab Makoto's collar and pulling her towards him, catching her in his hands as Makoto felt Sora hold her in a bridal carry position. "So it seems that the power to see one's fate is the power that Balmung possess. A most interesting and foul power to behold indeed." Izanami commented as this made both Sora and Makoto look at her and her choice of words.
"Indeed, the power to defy one's fate by seeing it and then replace it with a fate they desire. Oh how god like… and detestable." Izanami continued as an aura began to grow from Izanami, sending chills down Sora and Makoto's spines and making Caroline drop down on her knees, fear dripping down her forehead. "W-W-What is this…" Caroline could only mutter as she couldn't even find the strength to speak any further at that moment.
"Tell me, Why do you oppose the natural flow of life and death? What do you hope to gain by doing such a nonsensical thing?" Izanami questioned as Sora and Makoto looked at each other before responding. "Because we naturally hate death? Why should people actively pursue death?" Sora questioned as Izanami laughed upon hearing the answer that was given her way. "What a most normal answer… from a Black Beast none the less." Izanami said as the chill everyone felt grew.
"And why should the beast of calamity fear death when they are most capable of causing death? What a farce." Izanami said but before she could further elaborate, she could hear a deep inhaling of breath. "And so what? Sora's not a Black beast but my man!" Makoto shouted as Sora knew to put her down on her feet. "And I refuse to let you simply call him a Black Beast! He's not a monster nor an error! He's Sora fucking Minakaze and if you have a damn problem with that, you can take it up with me!" Makoto shouted as everyone simply stared at her as Izanami chuckled before laughing.
"Is that so?" Izanami simply said as she couldn't help but feel a sense of amusement from the situation she was able to witness in front of her. She did not know whether to laugh or cry at such a display but the fact that such bravery was displayed to her face meant that they should be rewarded with something in the first place. "You wish to know how to enter the world that currently houses your friends no? There is only one way for errors like you lot." Izanami said.
"If that is the case, say your piece and get the hell out of my sight not Noel." Makoto threatened as the malice that everyone felt coming out from her mouth with her threat. Izanami merely smirked at that threat. "You simply have to go to the 1st Free City of Otsu and jump through the cauldron located there. You all should be able to reach your destination should you do so." Izanami explained as Caroline felt like she needed to say something at that moment.
"And why should we trust you? The world's seithr is gone. The cauldrons won't produce any new Seithr for the next few years. So in return they shouldn't be able to use a cauldron like how you are suggesting them to do so." Caroline asked as Sora and Makoto realized the truth in Caroline's words but knew better than to jump to conclusions at that moment. "Because if you do not trust my words at this very moment, you will never be able to meet your friends and may perish in this world when the end times come. Isn't that good enough for you lot? The kind of people that value your lives?" Izanami questioned.
"Yeah… that is more than enough information for me to go by." Sora quickly explained as both Caroline and Makoto were surprised to hear Sora say that at that moment. "Oh? Do you not wish to question my words further Black Beast? No, Sora Minakaze." Izanami questioned as Sora simply remained quiet at that moment before shaking his head. "Questioning someone like you more about what can happen is not worth it. Especially since it's clear you are telling us this only to try and make us see your point of view." Sora said as Izanami chuckled.
"Are my intentions as plain for you to see right now?" Izanami questioned before raising her hands in the air. "Yes. My goal is simple. To give everyone death. So to have a couple of people resisting the very concept of death invalidates my very goal." Izanami explained as she then raised her hands up, exposing them to both Sora and Makoto. "So go! Go and find your friends! Witness them try to get their wishes and kill each other doing so! Maybe once you see the futility of resisting death, you will cease trying to use such means to survive and accept the blissful death that will be granted to you." Izanami said as a portal formed behind her.
"Brave defilers of fate. Venture yourselves to Otsu's cauldron. Take the steps to walk to hell itself." Those were Izanami's final words to the people in front of her as she took her steps into the portal and vanished at that moment. Everyone remained tense at that moment, unsure what is going to happen next as everyone looked at each other, wondering what they should do next. "Well… We know our next destination." Sora said as Makoto nodded her head upon hearing that.
"And That is going to the Cauldron in Otsu huh…" Makoto said as Sora knew that time was of the essence but they had to properly prepare for things instead of rushing at that moment. "Caroline. Go and do a full scan of the place to make sure that there is absolutely nobody is here. Once you do that, get our gear ready for the trip to Otsu." Sora explained as Caroline couldn't help but feel a slight panic hit her at that moment.
"A-All of that? By myself?" Caroline questioned as Sora nodded his head. "We are at the end times, so speed will be key here. I know this is a lot to ask but we need it done pronto." Sora said as Caroline took a deep breath upon hearing that and nodded her head. "Alright boss. I will get it done by tomorrow." Caroline said as Sora shook his head. "Make it by the afternoon or earlier. We don't have time to waste I suspect." Sora explained as Caroline sighed upon hearing that.
"Finally becoming a slave driver huh? Fine I will do my best to get everything ready. Including your new toy!" Caroline said as she ran off immediately, clear that she will need to start working at that moment otherwise she will not meet the deadline placed by her boss. "Are you sure we should be overworking Caroline at this point? We may need her help for the challenges ahead." Makoto said as Sora nodded his head upon hearing that. "I do agree but at the same time, we need to prepare things properly. And that includes you."
"Me? What could I...Oh." Makoto was quickly able to piece together what Sora was thinking as he nodded his head. "While we are waiting for Caroline to get everything ready. I am going to help you train your new power as best I can. Look I have been using this power for the longest time and it's like a second extension of myself but you only started doing it today. As much as I would like to let you learn how not to hurt yourself doing what I do, we need to at least improve your drive as much as we can to the point you can use it more often."
"You know… sometimes I forget you can be quite serious and can be quite strict." Makoto said as Sora sighed upon hearing that, immediately hugging her and rubbing her back gently. "I know I know, I just don't want to have you getting hurt using powers you gained from me. I hope you understand." Sora said as Makoto smiled upon hearing that and wrapped her arm around his back at that moment.
"I know Sora… I won't say something stupid like I am not a child or I am grown up and can look after myself. I do accept the fact that you are trying to help me and that I should accept the help that you are giving me." Makoto said as Sora couldn't help but feel like there was going to be a but being dropped down his way, Sora could feel it in his bones at that moment as he closed his eyes, taking a deep breath and readying himself for the inevitable but drop.
"But please Sora. Don't sound so serious while saying all of that." Makoto said as she used her hand to grab his left wrist. Sora then felt a ghostly visage grab his other hand to then bring his hand towards her ass and place them on their soft supple touch. "I like my man to be able to take things easy around me at least. Sorry if this is an inappropriate time for such lovey dovey actions as this but I feel a bit selfish right now." Makoto said as she could see Sora visibly sigh and shake his head upon hearing Makoto's words to him.
"Seriously Makoto? Sometimes I wonder why I fall in love with a woman like you." Sora teased as he kissed her at that moment, letting her feel his warm lips touch hers as she smiled at his attempt to lighten up the situation. "That's much better. You always looked better with a smile rather than always being serious all the time." Makoto said as Sora chuckled upon hearing that. "Well I apologize for being the rather serious man at times. I do like my sense of mystery from time to time you know." Sora explained.
"Yeah yeah. Just let me enjoy this moment a bit more before we get to work." Makoto said as Sora simply smiled and nodded his head upon hearing that. He himself knew that Makoto was right. The road that had been laid in front of them was going to be difficult and there was not going to be any chances for them to have times for peace and quiet like they were having. Sora then looked at the time on the clock and nodded his head at that.
"In that case, Why don't we do this?" Sora said as Makoto could feel her new drive activate at that moment. She could see herself being tackled to the ground in a passionate manner and be pinned on the ground by Sora. She saw a possibility that she would be able to escape such an attempt should she choose to do so but instead of doing so, she allowed the action to happen, Sora easily taking her down to the ground and feeling his full weight press on her body.
"Did you see what I was going to do?" Sora questioned as Makoto smiled at that. "I did. I saw every single thing that was going to happen to me." Makoto said as Sora smiled upon hearing her response. "And why did you not try to get out of the way? If you could evade that simple dodge, why not do so?" Sora questioned. "Because my life was not in danger in any way. And if my life was not in danger, why should I cause myself unnecessary harm by doing so?" Makoto explained as Sora kissed her in the forehead at that.
"Good. You know the difference between reacting to what you see and not reacting in a manner that would risk killing you." Sora said, giving Makoto some praise as she chuckled. "So Sora Minakaze, What is to be my reward hmmm?" Makoto questioned as Sora smiled before standing her up and tapping her on the forehead. "More practice on your new drive Makoto. Unless you wanted practice with another thing." Sora teased as Makoto pouted and blushed upon hearing Sora's tease.
"Finnneee… I will do more practice with my drive. But in return, before we go, we are going on a little shopping trip for you." Makoto said as she rubbed on her forehead at how hard Sora had flicked her head with. Sora simply tilted his head confused by her choice of words. "What? Do you really think I am going to let you go out to save the world looking like that? Come on now have some self respect." Makoto said as Sora shook his head.
Not knowing what kind of shopping he was going to be in store for.
GREETINGS LOST SHEEP OF FANFICTION!? HOW IS EVERYONE DOING ON THIS FINE DAY!? I personally have been doing well myself, making sure to maintain my daily hobbies and also writing for Fanfiction. With the world finally healing itself, life is progressing back to normal and the things we couldn't do before we can do now. Don't get me wrong there are still some crazy stuff happening in the background but at the very least, it couldn't be any more worse than what the past few years were bar some crazy shenanigans.
