Welcome back to Ashes of Midnight. Last time, Magik gave some information that something seemed wrong with Limbo, and that she'd be staying back to keep an eye on things. This causes Cynder to change her plans in taking Magik with her and Ghost Rider to see what Johnny Blaze has to say, so she opened the floor to Spyro and Scarlet Witch once again. Spyro still believes that his purple hide is the last thing Johnny Blaze wants to see at this point, but Scarlet Witch was convinced to go along in Magik's stead. With the team set, they headed off to visit Johnny Blaze. So how's that going to go? Read on to discover...
(Our scene opens back where the story really began, at the graveyard where Johnny Blaze is speaking to Rox's spirit at her grave)
Johnny Blaze: Don't look at me like that, Rox. It's time for this story to end, one way or another.
(And just as Johnny Blaze makes that ominous remark, Cynder, Ghost Rider, and Scarlet Witch enter)
Johnny Blaze: (Seeing Scarlet Witch, then to Cynder) Well I'll be damned. You actually managed to get her back from the dark side. Would've thought for sure you'd have gone for Spyro first.
Cynder: Got them both at the same time actually.
Johnny Blaze: Then why isn't he here? The way I see it you two are never apart beyond what happened.
Scarlet Witch: Spyro was under the impression that he was the last person you probably wanted to see after that business at the carnival.
Johnny Blaze: Being honest, you might be right.
Ghost Rider: All that aside, you said you wanted to talk. Ghost Rider to Ghost Rider.
Johnny Blaze: I did. And glad you could bring the pit crew along. Good, because I got us a plan. (To Cynder) You want to stick it to that former master of yours and his new Lilin companion? Then stick with me and keep your traps shut.
Cynder: Johnny, the secrecy has gone far enough. What in the Ten Hells is going on here?
Ghost Rider: Ten?
Cynder: (As confused as Ghost Rider is) I don't know. It just came out.
Ghost Rider: I've got the answer to your prophecy problem, that's what.
(With that, Johnny Blaze materializes the Parchment of Power yet again, and slaps it onto Ghost Rider's chest, causing his Spirit of Vengeance to absorb the page)
Ghost Rider: Damn, that burns! (Thinks about that) Been a while since I've been able to say that.
Johnny Blaze: We good now?
Cynder: Is that all you needed to see us about? To give Robbie the page? Why'd you need the rest of us?
Johnny Blaze: I'll show you.
(With that, Johnny Blaze leads the trio into the church adjacent to the graveyard.)
Johnny Blaze: After you.
(Still hesitant to trust Johnny Blaze entirely, but realizing there's no other way to get him to answer, Cynder, Scarlet Witch and Ghost Rider press on through the doors, only to end up in another realm with Johnny Blaze himself behind them.)
Ghost Rider: What the hell?
Johnny Blaze: Worse. Limbo.
Scarlet Witch: Have you gone mad?! Magik just told us something was wrong with Limbo.
Johnny Blaze: Trust me, there's a reason.
(With that, the quartet presses on, only to discover a figure seated on a throne of skulls)
Ghost Rider: Holy crap, is that...
Johnny Blaze, Cynder, and Scarlet Witch: Mephisto.
Mephisto: (Rising from his throne) Johnny Blaze. You made it. Consider me impressed.
Scarlet Witch: I don't like where this is going.
Mephisto: You're doing the right thing. Can't have the Hunter's spirit running around off leash in some dragon, now can we?
Cynder: And I'm really not liking this.
Mephisto: Relax my dear, your friend is leaving you in good hands. Well, not good, but you get the idea.
Ghost Rider: What the heck is going on here?
Johnny Blaze: Don't you get it? The Hunter's name is written all over that page. And so long as they're inside Cynder, it's best to keep it as far away from her as possible. And this place is as far from the Midnight Sun as you could possibly get!
Cynder: So you called me here just to leave me in the hands of the LITERAL DEVIL?!
Johnny Blaze: No. In Limbo, with Mephisto.
Mephisto: There's a difference.
Ghost Rider: (Shocked at what Johnny Blaze is doing) Are you freaking serious?!
Johnny Blaze: Mephisto wants Chthon back less than any of you do. Count on that much.
Ghost Rider: And here I thought you were brave. You're nothing but a coward, Johnny Blaze.
Scarlet Witch: (Backing up Ghost Rider) You two honestly deserve each other.
Johnny Blaze: Hate me all you want when we get home, kids. It's the only option!
Ghost Rider: I'm not going anywhere with you.
Scarlet Witch: And neither am I.
Cynder: You know, I'm kind of glad I didn't bring Spyro along now. If he could see you like this, he'd be just as disgusted as the rest of us are.
Mephisto: I'm personally not disgusted.
Cynder: Wasn't talking about you, Mephistopheles!
Mephisto: But regardless, they've got a point. Our deal was for you, Johnny Blaze.
Johnny Blaze: Don't get cute with me, you...
(But before Johnny Blaze can finish that sentence, Mephisto literally snaps him away.)
Mephisto: I'd love to see the look on his face when he gets back. But first thing's first. Let's see if the Terror of the Skies is really all she's cracked up to be.
(With that, hordes of Soulless fill the space, turning it into an arena, and everybody prepares to fight)
Cynder: Not exactly what I had in mind when we left today, but here we go.
(And as Cynder, Ghost Rider, and Scarlet Witch prepare to fight, our tale ends for today)
And that looks like a good spot to wrap up for now. So, Johnny Blaze's plan was to drop Cynder off with Mephisto to keep the Hunter's spirit away from the Parchment of Power and the Midnight Sun. Needless to say, Cynder and her friends here are none too pleased about that. And I can't imagine Spyro's going to be either once he finds out. Assuming everybody makes it out alive to see him find out. So, will they? Tune in next time to find out! Same time... same channel!
