Welcome back to Ashes of Midnight. Last time, the battle in Limbo began. Mephisto summoned legions of Soulless, but thankfully was stopped short by the arrival of Magik and Spyro. While Spyro got Cynder, Ghost Rider, and Scarlet Witch out of Limbo, Magik opened a few other portals to deal with Mephisto. Once everybody was back on the Mesa, some of Lilith's goons arrived, only for Malefor to take them over the second he sensed the Parchment of Power inside of Ghost Rider. Thankfully Magik rejoined the crew and the battle was on again. We resume with the scene already in action...
(The scene opens once again in the heat of battle. And with five heroes in battle, things are going quite swiftly indeed. Lilin are going down left and right. For a moment though, a Lilin Barghest appears on the roof of the Hell Charger, and attempts to attack Magik, who opens a portal just as it gets at her, sending it right to Cynder, who beheads it quite quickly. After the last of the enemies is gone, Ghost Rider leaves the group for a moment, looking at the church on the mesa, with Spyro, Cynder, Magik, and Scarlet Witch looking back at their friend concerned.)
Ghost Rider: I can already feel that page twisting inside of me. Who's to say I won't...
Cynder: Let me stop you right there, Robbie. You are nothing like Johnny Blaze.
Ghost Rider: I led you guys straight to him, though. Played right into his little game. If Illyana and Spyro hadn't been there.
Magik: But we were there, Robbie. Just like you've always been there for us.
Spyro: And here I thought I could trust Johnny Blaze. My ability to judge character must be slipping.
Scarlet Witch: He was desperate to end this. I hate to sound like I'm defending him, but if I were in his position, I'd arguably be tired of this shit too.
Cynder: Being honest, I can understand that.
Spyro: Well, rest assured of one thing, my friends. The next time I see Johnny Blaze, I'll have his head for what he's done.
Ghost Rider: You're not alone in that vow, Spyro.
Scarlet Witch: (Starting to get concerned) Robbie?
Ghost Rider: I'm going to find Johnny Blaze. And when I do...
(With that, Ghost Rider assumes his Spirit of Vengeance form and releases a stream of fire straight at the church on the mesa where Johnny Blaze's limbo portal was, setting it ablaze while everybody watches on)
Spirit of Vengeance: HE WILL KNOW THE TRUE MEANING OF VENGEANCE...
Cynder: Well, that's not unnerving at all.
Magik: Let's not rush to anything quite yet. For now, let's just get home. I think we all could use a rest after what we just went through.
(And with that, Magik opens up a Limbo portal back to The Abbey, and Ghost Rider, having returned to normal and refusing to even look at the still burning church behind him anymore is first through the portal. Magik is next, but Spyro, Cynder and Scarlet Witch hang back for a moment.)
Scarlet Witch: This isn't going to end well.
Cynder: Not even remotely.
Spyro: I know I want Blaze to pay just as much as Robbie does, but when I said I'd have his head, I meant it metaphorically! Something tells me Robbie didn't.
Cynder: Trust me, he didn't.
Scarlet Witch: I'm starting to worry that the Parchment of Power is manipulating him already.
Spyro: I'll keep my eyes on him.
(With that, Spyro steps through the Limbo Portal, leaving Scarlet Witch and Cynder alone)
Scarlet Witch: (Knowing her old friend) Something else is up, isn't it, Cynder?
Cynder: I'm starting to worry about our situation. Malefor was strong enough to overpower Lilith and take control of her Lilin.
Scarlet Witch: That is... certainly odd...
Cynder: It means we need to move fast.
(Realizing Cynder's right, Scarlet Witch follows Cynder straight through the Limbo Portal, ending our scene for today)
And that looks like a good spot to end for now. Well, it certainly looks like Ghost Rider is pissed off at Johnny Blaze. I mean, who wouldn't be at this point? Even Spyro is mad about all this. And it takes a lot to get that guy angry! But this is very worrying for everyone as well. Is the Parchment of Power manipulating Ghost Rider's anger? And above all, if Malefor can take over Lilith's forces, how strong is he really? All of these questions will be answered as time goes on. But for now, one major objective has been checked off, the heroes finally possess the Parchment of Power. But will the crazy plan to destroy the thing work? Tune in next time to start finding out!
