Louie... wake up, Louie!
A light, cheery voice echoed in the head of a man. His eyes opened to a bright light of sorts. The man could feel his body, yet no pain was present. He remembered the car crash—the tumbling and spinning of his vehicle as it finally came to a stop, hitting a tree. Yet he also remembered flashes of light, and now all of a sudden he is hearing a voice speaking to him, light and airy in tone. Tracking the sound, he noticed a floating cube in front of him—a single ocular holographic eye in its display blinking in curiousity—and remembered this cube, the name. It then dawned on him.
"Vigdis?" the man spoke in confusion, yet the small cube's eye sparkled in joy. "YOUR AWAKE, Oh, you are in for a surprise, Louie. Now I know you are confused, buuuuuuut. Don't worry... Just, uh, get your bearings a bit."
The man glanced around, seeing he was in the middle of some kind of ritual chamber, surrounded by a field of sorts. He did not recognize any of the symbols and paintings. However, upon glancing around more, he finally noticed the multitude of red-robed...robo Robed figures? prostratring towards him, a few of them whispering a name towards him in reverence.
'Thats...something. Alright, Michael, bearings gotten, I am in the body of my character Louis... the worst inventor in history... surrounded by robo Robed figures. What the fuck?' The man thought for a moment as he continued glancing around the room. One of the robed figures lifted his?, their head? Glancing up at the man.
"THE OMNISSIAH HAS AWOKEN!"
Upon that sentence being spoken, the rest of the robed figures lifted their heads as well, some of them even running up to the field surrounding him, collapsing to their knees. Michael noticed that some of them were augmented in some way with multiple different prosthetics... Some of them were still flesh. One four at the front of the crowd were completely modified, with no hint of flesh remaining.
"Now louie I know you're confused, but these guys don't really mean any harm, and they have been nice to me as well. They even gave me a good oil bath! Aside from that, they have just been here praying. It's kind of weird."
"Yeah, it is a bit weird." Michael wondered how Vigdis was speaking to him. His memoires of the character that was Louis were somewhat hazy, yet he just chalked it up to telepathic communication. He noticed Vigdis floating down to four of the robed figures, and she seemed to be speaking with them for a minute or so. After a moment longer, she floated back up to Michael...or rather Louise now...he honestly should just go by that name now.
"I am going to lower the Assault field. Don't worry, Louis, they won't hurt you; instead, they seem kind of worshipey." Louis simply gave the small cube a deadpan expression at her word. "That's not an actual word in the English dictionary, vigdis."
"I'll show you a word," Vigdis mumbled before her holographic optic blinked a terse blue. "Lowering the field now." As soon as she spoke those words, the glowing transparent dome around him gently lowered to the ground, before dissipating entirely. Once his feet hit the cold engraved metal floor, all hell broke loose.
Louis had just enough time to back away as multiple of the robed figures approached, praising him, fretting over him, a few even grabbing onto his leg.
"GLORIOUS OMNISSIAH"
"BENEVOLENT, BLESS US."
"HAIL TO YOU, HAIL TO YOU!"
Louis was currently trying to wrap his head around the current situation, and thankfully Vigdis gave him some assistance. "Hey, hey!" The small cube nudged away a few of the more grabby Robed figures and placed herself between them and Louis. "He just woke up; give him time to acclimate!" The man watched as multiple of the Robed figures immediately bowed to their knees—or what constituted them. One of them approached and bowed as well, this one garbed in more ornate clothing, completely mechanical head to toe.
"Forgive the impudence of us, emissary of the Omnissiah. We are just so thankful to finally be in the presence of our Lord." The higher-up robed figure..at least Louis assumed higher up gestured to him. "For ages upon ages, we have waited for you. For you to lead us, for you to guide us, and now you can!"
Multiple other figures behind him spoke out as well towards Louis.
"LEAD US."
"GUIDE US MY LORD"
"PRAISE BE THE OMNISSIAH"
And he did not know how to even respond to something like that. The man glanced around a bit more and then spoke. "Do any of you mind fetching me a cup of coffee?" Louis immediately closed his mouth, but the damage was already done, and he watched as multiple of the red robed figures began to fight amongst themselves.
"The ommnissiah requires a beverage from the capulus factorem; definitely prepare the incense and the candles!, I WILL DO IT."
"No, you will not alusa. The Capulus factorem requires three adeptus in training."
"YOU ARE FORGETTING THE SACRED RIGHTS, YOU FOO-"
Vigdis and Louis watched all of them bicker, and the cube turned to the man. "A cup of coffee...really louie?", The man just gave an annoyed look back to the cube, However, the arguments were broken by a mechanical voice speaking up through the commotion. Immediately, the room went silent as a large robed figure approached both Vigdis and Louis. A few of the robed figures whispered out the name of the figure. Louis could see that the figure was more heavily modified than even the other four robed figures. Accolades and what he assumed to be signs of ranking dotted the clothing and metal of the figure.
"fabricator, general..."
"Yes, he is the one who must do it."
The figure stopped and bowed to Louis. "My lord, my great omnissiah, will you give me the task of fetching you a beverage from the capulus factorem?"
At this point Louis was nursing a headache from the bullshit he was witnessing, so he simply gave a nod towards the fabricator general, watching as the figure rose to his full height. He then gestured to the three other robed figures. "Grab the incense, the blessed prayers and-"
"MOVE OUT OF THE WAY" Louis annoyed simply walked past the fabricator general, He just wanted a damn cup of coffee. He could hear the rest of the robed figures arguing over whatever it is they argued over, He noticed one robed figure in the far back of the room. Female, brown hair being seen outside of her hood. He then pointed to her "You, lead me to the coffee maker" The girl shakily lifted her unmodified hand and pointed to herself. "Yes…what is your name?"
"Elvira, Great Omnissiah"
"Yes it is nice to meet you Elvira.. Now where is the coffee maker?" The woman quickly jumped to her feet and gestured to one of the side doors, Louis quickly went through the door with Vigdis calmly floating beside him. Evira at the forefront guiding him. Eventually after a few minutes of walking they reached a common room of sorts with what he assumed to be a heavily steampunk coffee maker nestled against a wall.
He approached it and grabbed a cup off to the side. And as he went to press the button Elvira spoke up making him stop in his tracks. "G-great Omnissiah, the spirit in the factorum has not been appeased for a few cycles, No rituals seem to work. it is not wishing to u-" Elvira then watched as Louis placed the cup underneath the dispenser and pressed the button, Yet it did not turn on.
Rolling his eyes for a second, he reached up to the front plate and took it off analyzing the internals. It was weird being able to recognize everything inside of it… He was not mechanically inclined in his past life, But he guessed having Louis' mind gave him that. He eventually noticed an issue with the dispenser's heating element. "Hey vigdis, make me a new resistive heating element with a tube for water to flow..this one needs a new one"
"Roger that boss!" The cube's optic glowed for a second, and soon beside Louis was a new heating element, Which he grabbed and quickly replaced. Elvira and a few other Techpriests watched in awe as the man worked, Eventually he closed back the coffee maker. And then pressed the button, The machine whirring to life and soon dispensing the dark steaming liquid into the cup.
"I am sorry Elvira what were you saying-" Turning around with his now fresh cup of coffee, He took a sip out of it relishing the taste of it. He noticed Elvira on her knees bowing to him. A few more tech priests doing the same as well. "Truly the great and wonderful omnissiah, the Machine spirit bows to you. Thank you for allowing me to be your guide to the factorum-" She muttered keeping her head down.
"They are a bit cuckoo in the head louie…Honestly freaky" Vigdis whispered in his mind, However Louis simply drank more of his coffee and approached the currently prostrated Elvira. "Lift your head, I have a few questions to ask you" Setting his cup on a small side table, he pulled out a chair sitting in it. He was slowly realizing the world he was in now, Even if he never got into it too much… he recognized a tech priest when he saw one. .
Elvira did so without protest Looking up at the man with reverence. "What is it you wish to ask of me for your greatness."
At this The man let out a smile leaning forward. If they saw him as their God, He was gonna have to play the part. "Firstly, give me more insight on your rituals, Secondly. It's called a coffee maker. Not a factorial or whatever you called it. Thirdly, You are now my personal guide…Considering the other one's are currently arguing on who gets the incense…that's another thing that has to be discussed as well."
Louis was genuinely confused, but now that he realized what world he was in… there were gonna be a few changes.
