Chapter 1:
Young Rin at the tender age of 14 wanted nothing more than to travel with her Lord. But her Lord who seldom came by anymore, no matter how much she begged, he would not take her with him. The village was cold to her, many have seen her fascination with demons and due to this she was isolated. She had few friends and even fewer people to confide in.
She had lived with a Kaede for quite some time but as she got older the lessons changed, she wanted to teach her how to be a proper woman. Teach her how to be a mother and to care for a husband, it almost seemed like it was already planned for young Rin. She wished Lord would come back so she did not have to stay in this place anymore, she loved many people in the village, but she was never content there.
After a particularly nasty fight with grandma Kaede, she wanted Rin to get married as she had just turned seventeen and of course grandma Kaede already had her future planned out for her as she suspected for years now. She was to be wed to a man named Kinta the month after next, he was a merchant visiting from a different village who had taken a liking to her. Kinta liked the village too and had decided to stay there. He claimed he fell in love with Rin at first sight. Although he was handsome and could provide for her, Rin did not see him that way. Upon telling this to Grandma, Kaede had told her that love would come later.
Kaede had looked over the village and saw the beautiful woman that Rin had become, as an orphan her options were limited. She truly believed that this was what was best for Ren, but Rin was extremely angry. She had never lashed out. Always the quiet and obedient child but this she could not stand for.
During this argument Rin knew she was fighting a losing battle and in a fit of rage she left. No one knew that that would be the last time they had seen her.
"No! I will not marry him, I do not love him. I've always listened to you and obeyed you because you've been family to me but you have overstepped!" shouted Rin.
Never had she raised her voice to Kaede and spoken so brazenly. Even Kaede was taken back by Rin's fierce refusal.
Kaede stutters briefly before answering calmly, "Rin it is already decided. I have cared for you as my own and it is time to grow up and accept that this is your life."
Rin just stared at her in awe, before dropping her head down and laughing sadly. Fresh tears leaked from her dark eyes.
Rin turned around, "You aren't listening to me."
Kaede called out to her to stop but Rin kept walking out of the hunt. Kaede didn't follow her, Rin continued towards the exit of the village. Many people asked her what was wrong but she answered none of them and silently continued walking.
Inuyasha walked in front of her and put his hand on her shoulder, in concern. However, Rin threw his hand off her shoulder and continued walking. He too did not follow her.
Once Rins feet touched the grass she took off running and she didn't stop.
Lord Sesshomaru
The demon had returned to the village, but he couldn't sense Rin.
Usually, the yokai did not come into the village but the lack of her scent made him walk straight through the entrance. He went to the hut that held the old priestess and there she was sat on the steps with her head in her hands. He had never seen her this way. She always held herself highly, unconsciously he walked faster to her. After all, she was in charge of Rin.
When he stood in front of her, he spoke, "Where is she?"
The old woman looked up at him sadly, "I do not know…she left a few days ago and has yet to return. We've all searched for her but there is no trace of her."
His eyes widened very uncharacteristically and Sesshomaru had turned on his heels, he did not wait to see the look on her face. He took to the sky and looked for days, those turned to weeks, and then to a year. Yet he too could not find her, her scent completely vanished in the forest of the village.
After not being able to find her, his rage was uncontrollable. Lord Sesshomaru had destroyed half of the forest and killed everything in his path.
Inuyasha
Inuyasha saw the green and yellow light emanating from the forest, the destruction of his brother and he knew. The collected brother that he had known who had tried to kill him multiple times, had lost control all due to a little human girl who he barely visited.
Inuyasha cared for her, the little girl had become an everyday norm for him to see in the village but the last day he saw her, she held none of the light that she always had.
After several days of watching the demon destroy the forest, he went to intervene, against his survival instinct.
Once he got close enough, the green lightheaded straight for him and he nearly didn't dodge it.
"Sesshomaru stop!" Screamed Inuyasha.
Slowly, the assault stopped and Inuyasha landed on smooth ground. He stood up and glared at his brother but once he saw the state of Sesshomaru his face morphed into shock.
Sesshomaru was always a cold-blooded bastard and Inuyasha was no stranger to his anger. Yet, the look on his face managed to fill him with dread. Eyes were crimson red and the smooth markings on his cheeks looked like four angry lightning bolts and pulsing with every breath Sesshomaru took. Every tooth was sharpened, and his claws were out to kill. Inuyasha could only describe him as feral.
"Fighting me will not help you find her nor will destroying the forest."
Instantly, the yokai was in front of him inches from his face and Inuyasha was paralyzed by a power he didn't know Sesshomaru possessed. He'd never seen him up this close and the look of rage and helplessness was on full display. For the first time in the years, he'd known Sesshomaru he'd never looked more humanly expressive.
Inuyasha now knew why Sesshomaru kept a cold expression and never showed emotion because when he did… It was a sign of losing control of his instincts. His aura almost made his knees buckle with the pure power pulsing off of his body.
Inuyasha knew he cared for Rin, but he didn't know it was to this extent, a lapse in judgment that will probably cost him his life.
Still in shock, Sesshomaru reached his hand up and grabbed the back of Inuyasha's head and brought his forehead to his own. He stared into his eyes with outrage. Inuyasha dared not to move.
"Tell me then little brother…" he said eerily calm. "WHERE IS SHE?!"
Inuyasha eyes widened at the distorted voice and could only gape at Sesshomaru. For the first time he felt real fear, but it was short lived as he soon was thrown back against a tree.
Inuyasha felt his back break due to the impact and the world went black around him.
Hello lovely reader! This story has been bouncing around in my head for quite some time now. When I began to write this story, I wasn't sure where it was going but as it progressed, I got very into it. I hope you enjoy reading this story as much I enjoyed writing it. My other story "Urges" has been put on a temporary holt due to the creation of this work. I'm very sorry as this is the second time it's been put on halt. Due to my overactive brain, I found I couldn't focus fully on writing urges without blurring the stories together. Please be patient with me, Urges will be completed within these next few months.
As a preview, I will be uploading the first three-five chapters of Blue Blooded General. Review! Please take the time to let me know what you think! You can also reach out to me via message for any questions you may have. Until next time!
