Have you ever met someone and got the feeling that a person you've met is going to be very important? I did, long ago. Or at least I thought so.
See, my parents grew up in the small town of Forks, Washington, so small in fact that everyone had known one another since they were in diapers. For many generations.
My parents, however, decided that they were going to be the ones to break that cycle, and upped and moved us out of Forks to Port Angeles, then to Hoquiam, and then to Tacoma, Spokane…
The moving didn't stop until we finally made it to Seattle, Washington.
My older brothers Peter and Jasper, Rose, my older sister. They were triplets and were always there to cheer me up. Of course, since they were two years older than me, they have always been a bit protective of me.
Even willing to take the fault of my mistakes if they needed to. I loved them so much for it though.
Shortly after that, life got more complicated.
I was, of course, a freshman in high school by the time we finally settled into our lives in Seattle and started attending a new school. That's where I met Alice and Edward.
Meeting them for the first time was a life-changing experience.
It happened when a boy from our class began making fun of me for my appearance. Even going as far as to grab a handful of my hair and yanking it hard enough that I flew off my seat, hitting my head on the corner of the desk, and cutting it in the process.
I could see spots and feel a dull ache on the side of my head as I groaned, and unsteadily tried to sit up, my scalp had begun to burn from the spot that he had yanked my hair.
I could hear something happening around me, but I couldn't focus enough to see what was happening.
When I finally focused, I saw a tiny figure standing protectively in front of me, and her brother Edward was being held back by his friends.
Somewhere in between me laying on the ground and Alice helping me to my feet, Rosalie and Jasper walked in.
"Who the hell put their filthy hands on my little sister?" Rose demanded, angrily as she rushed to my side.
Alice pointed to where Mike was standing with Tyler and a group of their friends.
"This asshole pulled her hair, hard enough to yank her out of her seat and rip the hair out of her head." Edward growled as Ben, James, and Keith held him back.
Jasper turns to look at Edward, staring at him for a moment before looking at Tyler, "Hm. So, you think that it's funny to lay hands on a defenseless girl? Why don't we go for a walk?" He suggests calmly.
Tyler smirks as he looks over at me, "Come on, man, she is not defenseless… Besides, it's not a big deal, right, Isadora?" He asked.
Rose glared as she grabbed some paper towels and gently pressed them to the side of my head. "Her name is Isabella, you half-witted prick, and if you think it's so hilarious to pull on someone's hair when they're not paying attention… let me show you how it feels." She says.
Before anyone could stop her, she moved across the room and had him on his knees. "It's no big deal, right, Tobby?" She retorts as she walks away.
Jasper stares at him before turning to Edward, giving him a nod, and walking towards us. Rose grabs my things, and Jaspers leads me out of the room.
"What were— What were you guys doing in there?" I asked, confused.
Jasper sighs as he leads me out of the building and to his car. "We finished our test earlier than expected and they let us out. Peter is already waiting for us in the car. Let me see the cut. Maybe Uncle Carlisle can patch you up." He says.
I wince as he lifted the bloodied paper towel, and gently cleaned around the wound. "That is pretty big. Okay, we need to move. Now." He tells Rose as he guides me to the car.
He helps me into it, and rushes to get in as Rose slides into the back.
By the time that we made it to the clinic where my mother's older brother works. Our dear Uncle Carlisle, or Carl.
He immediately led us to one of the back rooms and called my mother to inform her of what had just happened, which led to both my parents showing up as I got stitches and was transferred to the hospital to get an MRI.
Which concluded that I did, in fact, have a grade 2 concussion.
I wouldn't be able to attend school for two weeks thanks to it. Nor would I be able to read, or watch TV.
Nothing. I would be at home, by myself, because both my parents worked.
Luckily for me, Alice had taken it upon herself to bring my homework to me, unfortunately I couldn't do it until the following Monday, so we just hung out and talked, while I laid there in bed, in the dark room.
It was during one of those visits that Edward came to check on me, unexpectedly. Almost a week later.
"So, how are you feeling?" He asked me, quietly, after Alice disappeared to get me some food.
I sigh, keeping my eyes closed, before answering, "Not great but not as bad as I did a few days ago." I replied.
The headaches are less frequent than a few days ago. I am not allowed to leave my room because every other room in this house might as well be locked in here for all I care." I answer.
He snorts, "It can't be that bad, I mean, you're not in school that's a bonus, right?" He asks.
I scoff, "To who? All I can do is eat, and I couldn't even do that a few days ago." I retorted.
"I mean, it's almost been a week. You can read now, watch TV for a bit, and even go for a ten-minute walk." He says.
I nod, "I know, but I can't go out without someone being here with me in case I fall or get dizzy again. Showering is also a no go when I am alone, so I shower before bed." I tell him.
He gives me a sympathetic smile as he leans back against the wall and begins throwing a hacky sack in the air. "I know what will make you feel better. The group who planned the attack on you got suspended. Not only that but once they complete the suspension, they've got in-school suspension and have been banned from attending any school events." He tells me.
I frown, "Did they get the reason as to why I was targeted?" I asked, as i stared up at the ceiling.
He shrugs, "I didn't get that information. The school may contact both you and your parents later though to talk to you." He says.
I hum, and close my eyes as I hear Alice walk back into the room.
"So, our mom dropped off some food." She says as she sits on the end of the bed, and gives Edward a look.
He sighs before looking over at me, "Well, I am glad you're doing better, Bee. I have to go to practice, but I will see you some other time, okay?" He tells me.
I nod, as Alice hands me a small glass bowl full of fruit, before pulling out a few other bowls.
"Alice I can't eat all of that." I sighed.
She nods, as she pulls hers open, and pops a grape into her mouth. "Eat what you can." She tells me.
I sighed before sitting up and slowly eating before taking an ibuprofen and falling asleep sometime later.
The next day, Uncle Carlisle dropped by for a visit to check on me, informing me that I seemed better but wished to have me go get some tests run just to be sure.
Once the tests came back, Uncle Carlisle reassured my parents that I was doing a lot better and told them that I could now do more on my own, only then did my parents calm down.
I could now read, and watch my comfort shows and movies. Granted, I still had to wait for the swelling to go completely down in order to return to school.
Even though Alice would drop by with my work each afternoon, she would stay until five and then had to go to her after school activities, just to make sure I was really alright, before she left.
After I went back to school, nobody else messed with me.
Even after Rose and my brothers had left for college.
Alice and I became great friends after this. Having sleepovers, shopping trips, and weekend trips to Portland, and a few other places.
I finally felt comfortable for one in my life.
Four Years Later:
Edward and I sigh as we lay down in the grass next to each other, watching the sun slowly go down.
Ever since graduation, everyone was too busy to hang out. Besides Alice and I going away to the University, we had already done everything there was to do.
I had my things packed in my car, my schedule, the address of the apartment we were going to rent. All that was left was to buy groceries, and for the scholar year to begin.
"So, what are you going to do once we're finally out of your hair?" I asked him teasingly.
He gives me a secretive smile, before shaking his head.
I frown, "Why not?" I asked, offended.
"Because you'll tell Alice, and she'll kill me. Well, that is going to happen regardless of when it happens. But I need to make sure she isn't near me when she finds out." He says.
I frown, as I sit up, and look at him from over my shoulder, "Edward, what did you do?" I asked.
He shrugs, "Nothing, nothing." He innocently says. "Let's change the subject alright?" He suggests.
I sigh, "Fine," I mumble, before reaching into the crinkled BK bag, and pulling out some fries.
"I was just thinking… about something I read the other day." He says.
I hum as he sits up, "Go on." I say, as I drown my fries in ketchup.
He suddenly leans forward and bites the fry I was going to eat before smirking at me.
"My fry…" I pout.
He smiles a wide innocent smile as I glare at him, "You ignored me." He says.
I gasp, "I was saving those fries until I got hungry, you bitch." I told him.
He lets out a loud chuckle, before he grabs my hand, "Seriously, though. Remember that one project that we did in psych class, that said something about bonds are great to form…" He trails off.
I sigh, "Alright, you are going in circles. What do you want?" I finally asked.
He sighs, before turning and, looking down at his hands, "Alright, look, in a few weeks or so, I am going to boot camp. Camp Pendleton." He finally tells me.
I gap at him in disbelief, "I see why you are anxious about Alice finding out. It was good knowing you, Mase. Send my condolences to your parents. I gotta go. I don't know anything." I told him as I move to get up.
His hand quickly wraps around my forearm, and he gives me a look.
"Will you listen to what I have to say?" He asked.
I sigh, "Fine. You've got ten minutes. Then I have to get going or I'm going to be late for work." I told him.
He then proceeds to explain, or rather word vomit, about how he's always liked me but never said anything because Alice told him to stay away from me.
All I can think is about all those times we were left alone, and he was always friendlier than normal, then that one party which we ended up making out.
"Promise me that you'll wait for me." He finally says.
I blink, "Wait for you?" I repeat.
He nods.
I let out a small snort, and shake my head, "I can't do that. I'm sorry." I tell him, feeling my emotions swirl in my stomach. Suddenly feeling glad that I didn't finish eating my food.
He nods, before looking away. "Why not? What's wrong?" He asked, quietly.
"Nothing. I just … I can't." I told him.
"Bee, come on." He sighs, "It's always been you." He tells me.
"No, it hasn't…. and you're a jerk, you know that? Why would you wait until right now to tell me? When you're days from leaving…" I answered, blinking hard.
"Alice made me promise I wouldn't. " He says.
I sighed, sitting up, and moving my hair back with my hand before turning to look at him again. "She made you. She's four foot five!" I retorted.
"She gets violent, and hits hard." He grumbles as he rubs his arm absently.
"Bee, please." He begs.
I close my eyes, and let out a long breath, before I turn to look at him, "Fine, I promise… to wait…" I said, looking at him. 'Until I know if this is real or not.' I added mentally.
He smiles, before moving to press his lips on my forehead.
For the next few days that he had left, we hung out in all our free time.
Getting to know each other as much as possible.
I thought that everything between us was going well, and that we were going to be okay after we video chatted, emailed, called, and even snail mailed each other.
We even had secret catch phrases to see how we were doing. But like everything in life, nothing ever lasts.
It was great for about six months, then everything slowly began to slow until it eventually stopped.
When I wanted to confront him, I found out why.
He came back with a friend during Christmas Break and acted cold towards me. I knew then that there would be no 'us', and definitely no going back to the eat things were, especially after all those moments we shared together, so I knew that that was the end of that.
At first, I fought with myself over this. Wondering if I was jumping to conclusions, but then my cousin Angela showed me a picture that he had posted on Facebook and another on Instagram and I stopped fighting it.
After that I went back to school and focused on my studies. Eventually graduated, was made a valedictorian.
I made sure to move on, but he was always on my thoughts. Even when I didn't want him to be.
Everything reminded me of him. It was Seattle. How could it not? When we basically did everything here.
So, when the chance came, and I was offered an internship to work under one of the best law firms in the country. I didn't hesitate to take it.
Deciding that the best decision would be to leave Seattle, Washington. So, I made the preparations, replacing one set of rainy and cloudy skies with another State's.
The day I left, the clouds were as black as the night, as the plane flew away, I saw the first drops of rain hit the window of the plane. I closed my eyes, as the plane shifted and took to the air. Goodbye, Seattle.
Author's Note:
Hello again, my lovelies!
I hope you liked the first chapter of this story, there's definitely more to come so stick around.
Sidenote, I know a lot of you have been telling me to get a beta, but I just don't feel comfortable getting one. The one time I did, the person added things from someone else's story and erased a good part of it, forcing me to have to erase my story from the platform, and rewrite it again. I just don't feel comfortable. A prereader yes, a beta, I don't think I will.
Nobody get angry, it happened a while ago, and it wasn't anyone of this fandom, of course.
Again sorry.
