"Joanna, Joanna? Have you got the rope?"
"Yes, Bob! It's over here!"
Joanna handed Bob one end of the rope while she held onto the other.
"Alright, let me just check one quick thing…"
Bob quietly walked over to the door of their room, put his ear up to it, and listened. He was trying to listen for any voices or footsteps. He also looked down to the crack at the bottom to make sure visually that no one was there. He didn't hear or say anything.
"Okay, the coast is clear!"
"Alright, I'm gonna have to open the window slowly…"
Once Joanna finally opened the window all the way, she fed the rope down to the bottom of the house, while Bob tied his end to the end of their bed. Slowly, and quietly, they grabbed on and slowly climbed down to the ground. They then split up to check to make sure no one was watching them from either end of the house. There didn't seem to be a soul in sight, so they gathered back together again.
"Alright, good. Now, if we wanna guarantee we'll make it back home safely, we gotta make a run for it, and be as quiet as possible, you ready Bob?"
"Ready, Joanna…"
"Okay, here we go!"
The two teens sprinted off into the night. They had made sure to put on cleats, they wanted to run as far as they possibly could. They did have to catch their breath a few times, but soon they reached a cliffside.
"Great!" Said Joanna, panting. "We've already made good progress if we're here…"
But their luck was about to run out, Joanna looked behind them and was spooked.
"Bob, quick, hide! She found us! I'll keep her distracted!"
Bob decided to climb part ways down the cliff, and eventually was able to take shelter under a large boulder, being sure to cover his tracks in the process. He peeked out to see what was going on with Joanna, and was shocked to see that she was being strangled by the other person.
"What have I told you two about walking out on me?!..." She asked Joanna, "This is the third time! You're on very thin ice, you know that?!"
"I'd…" Said Joanna choking, "Rather die than spend another minute with you..."
The other person smirked, "Suit yourself…"
Bob watched in horror as the other person took out a dagger and slashed Joanna's throat with it. Once it was clear that Joanna was dead, she began calling out for him.
"Bob? Bobby boy? Where are yoooouuuuu? It's time to go hoooommmeee!"
Bob had to cover his mouth to avoid being heard. The person suddenly noticed some of his footprints and looked down at the edge of the cliff, she scoffed and shook her head.
"What an unfortunate accident… Nothing more treacherous than meeting your end via a cliff due to your clumsiness…" The stranger then looked at Joanna's corpse, "Oh well, at least I got you." And with that, she left, taking Joanna's corpse with her.
Once Bob was certain that the stranger was gone, he climbed out from the rock and made his way back up. He looked down at the ground where the stranger and Joanna were moments before. There was still blood there, which caused him to tear up.
"Joanna…" He said, clenching his fists, "I swear on oath, I will make sure your sacrifice wasn't in vain… Goodbye, my sister…"
He took off into the night, making sure never to look back. It was all he could do in order to maintain his sanity.
So, this is a first for me! I've wrote a lot of talking train stories here and on other sites, but after getting hooked into RWBY, I wanted to finally give a short at writing a story solely focused on human characters. I also apologize if this scene disturbed you, and as a trigger warning, given this is a horror story, it's only the beginning. Stay tuned...
