Revamped!
[Finally, we're on the last chapter of Thorne's arc. And this chapter is way shorter than usual but I couldn't go on without dragging.] [2020: While revamping this chapter, I enjoyed it more than my starting revamped AN said. I was just in a bad state of mind (as if my mood right is any better) and too much was happening (as if I have a free schedule now).]
Beware of Sharp Thornes: Part Ten
After the Party
There are no words to describe how they're feeling which matches the lack of memories they had when they woke up. Everything felt like it happened last week after they viewed the replays but it was really a few hours ago. (Their hangovers might last for a week.) After finally seeing and remembering what happened at the party, they realized last night was better forgotten because they looked pathetic.
They'd hate to relive the memories that didn't make it online. Those spades were long gone before they even arrived.
"Wow…" Thorne mutters. "That's a sad ending to our superhero story."
"It makes sense," Cress says. "There's a difference between forgetting and blocking it from your memory. Alcohol makes minds more transparent but ours were foggy."
Everyone stares at her with tired faces. It was too early to have that conversation. Nobody cared to mention that she didn't even drink and still forgot everything
"What the stars happened to you?" Scarlet asks her boyfriend.
Wolf sighs, thinking as he wraps his arm around her. "I went up to get Cress, stopped in the hallway to tie my shoes, and drifted off on a bench while staring at some abstract painting upstairs. Then I think the head bust was narrating the scene before I blacked out."
"The boring art has that effect," Thorne says. "That's how my parents put me to sleep as a kid rather than bedtime stories and lullabies. Unless you count the story of how they got the painting as a story."
And now they're silent. There was nothing to say now that all their answers from last night's party, what did they have to do now? They're still recovering from hangovers and all-nighters, so they could stay here and nap until tomorrow. It seemed like a good plan.
"That was a great party," Winter says. Seeing all those memories online, even the embarrassing ones, were thrilling. It made the party one to remember even if they woke up with it forgotten.
And none of them could disagree.
Thorne stands in front of Wolf. "I want to thank you and Scarlet for not hooking up in my room or anywhere in my house."
Wolf doesn't even react. "Hand-holding is more intimate than sex."
Cress perks up, watching in awe as Wolf holds Scarlet's hand still with his arm over her shoulders.
"Oh la la," Cress sings with a failed attempt at a French accent.
Scarlet, the only French one in the room, turns to face her. "No."
"… oh na na…" she mutters, still keeping the bad French accent.
Winter turns off her phone. "Please, you can hook up with anyone in any place, but nothing can ever be as intimate as touching their phone screen."
Nothing was truer the whole night. Letting someone in your pants was one thing but on your phone? That's a new level of privacy.
Scarlet leans forwards towards Thorne. "I want to do bad things to you?"
Thorne's body tingles. Maybe he's aroused and he can't tell. "Like what?"
"Break your neck."
Thorne still finds that flattering. Minus the gigantic and horrific mess with the memory loss, the party was a win. Bless technology and social media for all the saved memories. The only unflattering outcome is that he still has this gigantic mess to clean inside and outside. If only his parents had a small house with an even smaller yard front and back.
"I can't wait for your next party," Kai says excitedly.
Thorne scoffs. "Maybe there will be one tomorrow night."
Maybe he could schedule a cleaning party.
"I'm sitting that out," Cress says. "I feel hungover without even drinking."
"Why don't we have it at your place?" Cinder suggests to Kai. "Obviously not Torin's house but yours. You have the entire place to yourself!"
Everyone starts adding onto that, encouraging and pressuring Kai into being the next host for the school's big party. His parents are no longer around so his house is all his. And it's a nice, big house as well.
"I will push you into your rosebush," Kai says to Thorne. It was real since he never threatens people.
"Beware of sharp thorns," Cress mutters as a warning.
With that precaution, Thorne goes into the next room at his house. He comes back wearing a helmet while holding a fresh box of garbage bags and a broom. Nobody looks amused, but they'll probably stay because they're best friends.
"To the next party," Thorne proposes as if he was starting a toast.
"The next party," everyone adds, pulling out a garbage bag.
[Wow, that arc took longer to complete. I'm sorry. I had a lot of other stories that I was prioritizing and then school came back. That being said, the next arc is already planned but it'll take me a while to write since I like to finish the ten chapters before publishing. (I actually started the first chapter last night.) That didn't happen with this past Thorne arc since I wanted the first chapter up on the story's anniversary.
Before I go, just know that I don't know when the next arc will be up. This story isn't finished. I still have lots of adventures planned as well as a spinoff and a bonus arc.
I'm very excited about the next arc because it's something I relate to and connects to the arc after which, I believe, is a big one. Feel free to guess who those arcs belong to.
I will see you then :)]
[2020: Wow I really I'm not giving up often. Ironic enough, the next two arcs didn't take long to write since we entered a pandemic. Also, thank the stars I'm done revamping. For those reading this story for the first time, this is the last revamped chapter. Every chapter after this one is fine. I only removed some outdated ANs.]
