I do not own the Boy/ Girl Battle Series.
At the movies...
"Bethie!!!!" Squealed a voice. A dash of red tackled Beth and hugged the life out of her. It was Camilla.
"Hey Cam," Beth said, grateful that her friend seemed happy. "Ow, ow, ow, you're hurting me."
"Oh, sorry, sorry, sorry! I'm just so excited to see you!" Camilla Lasheè said to her best friend.
"Where are your sisters and parents?" Eddie asked.
"Oh all the way down there!" Camilla said nonchalantly. "I ran up here to see you guys." Eddie smiled, shaking her head.
"Hey Fi," Eddie said to her friend. "How're ya?"
"Good, Eds." She replied with a warm smile.
"These are your friends?" Jake asked with a broad smile.
"Yeah, you got a problem with it?" Eddie asked, slightly holding up her fist.
"No," Jake said, holding up his hands.
"And what those two, dating?" Tony asked, gesturing to Beth and Camilla. Camilla had her arms wrapped around Beth's waist from behind, her head resting on Beth's shoulder. Beth rolled her eyes and looked at Josh, who visibly winced at Tony's words.
"Duh, Bethie's my pookie!" Camilla declared. Beth swallowed hard, just looking at Josh.
"Okaaaay." Steve said.
"Eddie, Beth, lookit!" Caroline called. Her two sisters turned and gaped at Lana and Lily's hair.
Lana and Lily's hair was now their true color, strawberry blond. However, Lana's hair seemed tinted purple, and Lily's seemed tinted pink. Lana still had purple highlights at the bottom of her hair, and it had been curled. Lily had pink highlights throughout her hair from top to bottom, and her two front strands of hair were dyed an even lighter blonde than her natural hair.
"Oh, it looks so cute!" Beth gushed. She ran over, pulling Camilla off of her. "Finally," thought Beth. She loved her best friend, of course, but she could get a little too touchy for Beth's taste.
Eddie smiled. "Looks good on you guys." Beth turned to look at the other guys. Steve didn't even seem like he was looking at the obvious twin girls. Neither did Tony. And definitely not Jake and Josh. No, they weren't. Beth could tell where the two Benson brothers' eyes were, right at Felicia and Camilla. She walked back up to Eddie and nudged her.
"What?" Eddie whispered. Beth smirked, seeing who Steve was looking at.
"It would appear that Steve Benson has a type." Beth whispered back. She waited for Eddie to glance at Steve and track where his eyes were. Eddie turned back to her sister, trying very hard not to laugh at her comment. Felicia was an athlete too, partaking, however, in boxing, rather than baseball.
"Hold up, Wallace," Beth said. Wally looked at Beth. "Do you know any of these girls' names?"
Wally shrugged. "Not really. Why?"
"Ok, the oldest is Felicia," Beth said. The girl with dark hair put up into a high bun waved. She was wearing a hoodie and sweatpants, and Converse. Beth saw Steve swallow.
"This gremlin is Camilla," Beth continued. Camilla was wearing a tight red dress with a white cardigan, black tights, and white Nikes. As Cam waved, Beth noticed Tony smirk.
"The one in purple is Lana, and the one in pink is Lily," Beth finished. Lana waved, and so did Lily.
"Why'd you just ask Wally?" Jake asked, annoyed. Beth rolled her eyes.
"'Cause if Wally knew, he could tell the rest of you dimwits who was who." Beth explained without apology.
"By the way, the dumbos from oldest to youngest are Steve, Jake, Josh, Tony, Wally, Bill, Danny, Peter, and Doug," Caroline said, gesturing to each boy.
"Ok, now that we're all acquainted, let's go!" Beth shouted. They headed off to the movie theater.
"Remember, guys, my number two rule: don't have lice, and don't get hit by cars." Beth said proudly. Josh chuckled lightly.
"Whatever," Jake muttered.
In the bathroom...
"Hey Beth," Camilla said when their moms left.
"What Cam?" Beth asked her. All of her sisters and Camilla's were still in the bathroom.
"They broke up." Camilla said. The Lasheès started to giggle. The Malloys looked confused.
"Who did?" Beth asked again, turning to her friend.
"Winston and Hannah. She finally saw him as the abuser he is." Camilla said. Beth froze.
"So are you guys friends again?" Beth asked. Camilla sighed.
"That year actually freaking was the worst. You were gone. Hannah was breaking girl code. There were those guys in your house. And that year just messed up our friend group." Camilla said. Beth nodded solemnly.
"Yeah I know." Beth said. "That's why we left." As Beth started to leave after all the other girls, she stopped and turned to Camilla.
"Hey Cam," Beth started. "Let's just say that you have a crush on somebody, but you've hurt them in the past so you weren't expecting a second chance, but then you learn that they still like you even after all you did to them. What would you do?"
"Is this about that boy?" Camilla asked, grinning.
"Umm, there's nine out there, take your guess." Beth deflected. Camilla sighed.
"Is this about Josh?" Camilla asked. Beth's face said it all.
"Oh honey," Camilla sighed. "When will you stop thinking that you're the runt of the litter? You are so amazing, you know that? Everyone deserves a second chance!" Beth nodded, but she wasn't truly listening.
"You know what! I'll see this through. I'm making sure you're sitting right next to him so he can know how you feel!" Camilla declared.
"What! No, Cam, thats a bad idea. Like a really bad idea." Beth panicked, throwing her hands in front of her body and waving them around. Camilla shrugged and interlocked their arms. She led them out of the bathroom to their waiting sisters.
Beth looked around in a panic as Camilla brought her closer to the Hatfords. Soon, the four families entered the theater, and sat down. True to her promise, Camilla found Josh, got right behind him, and put Beth in front of her. Beth's face was completely red, and she couldn't seem to look at him. Josh, completely oblivious to what was going on behind him, sat down next to Tony and started talking with him. Beth was lightly shoved into the seat on the other side of Josh by Camilla. Beth glared at her friend and Camilla giggled.
Tony noticed what was going on behind his friend and tapped him. Josh looked confused until Tony pointed behind him. Josh turned to look and immediately saw Beth right next to him. Josh's face flushed. Tony chuckled. He went to speak but the previews started.
(Nothing happens during the movie except them just watching it so time skip)
After the movie
"That was fun." Lily said, with emphasis on fun.
"What was everyone's favorite part?" Beth asked.
"The cats!" Everyone said in unison. (If you saw the Marvels movie)
Eddie chuckled. "Now who's ready for the even more fun part?"
"What's that?" Josh asked. Beth smiled.
"Grandma's house!" The Malloy girls exclaimed.
The kids got on the escalator going down in almost complete silence. That is, until, Wally spoke up.
"What happens when you fall on an escalator? Like how bad are the injuries?"
"That's what I always think!" Beth exclaimed.
"Dude, when do you see a person fall on an escalator?" Bill asked.
"Well, I suppose when your shoe gets stuck-" Beth wondered aloud.
"Then you'd be stuck, you wouldn't fall." Wally said.
"Can someone get eaten by an escalator?" Beth asked.
"Well when your shoelace gets stuck, you might lose you shoe-" Camilla added.
"Guys! Stop talking about dying on an escalator!" Eddie, Jake, Tony, Steve, Felicia and Josh exclaimed.
"Is this some kind of middle kid syndrome?" Danny asked hesitantly.
"I think the escalator would stop if someone gets stuck. So they wouldn't die or fall off or get eaten by the escalator." Mr. Hatford piped up. All the other parents were trying their best not to crack up.
"Dad?" Peter asked. "What-?"
"I'm a middle child too." Mr. Hatford said. A smile tugged on Caroline's face. The smile turned to a chuckle, a chuckle to a giggle, the giggle to a laugh. Soon everyone was laughing with her.
Over the river and through the woods; to Grandmothers house we go
"Grandmaaaa!" Caroline cried as she left the Malloys car. She ran up to the woman standing at the door frame and engulfed her in a bear hug.
"I'm so happy you girls are here! We're going to have fun!"
