Blood And Bridges

Chapter 52

You told me that you wanted this.

I told you it was all yours.

If our love is at the end. Then why do i still want you?

Brooke stared at the woman. She knew Simon hadn't decided yet.

"I don't think you should get him anything. He isn't going to want anything from you." Brooke replied.

Taylor took Brooke's advice and left the store.

She could only imagine how she looked coming here requesting Brooke's help.

Brooke wanted to focus on getting back into work. But between Taylor's sudden appearance in her store. Along with everything going on with her marriage.

Work had become something she used to distract herself from it all.

She shouldn't of showed up today. She was emotionally all over the place. Dealing with customers shouldn't be a focus right now.

After realizing that. Brooke decided to close early.

She kept the sign turned to closed and left.

She started to close up and found herself with a hand on her shoulder.

"How are you Brooke?" Jake asked.

"I'm a mess. My marriage is falling apart." Brooke confessed.

Jake pulled her into a hug. "I'm sorry. I hate to see you like this." He replied. Once they pulled apart.

"You didn't come here for me to cry on you're shoulder. I'm sorry." Brooke said.

"I came here to see how you're doing and i'm glad i did."

"You deserve better. I hope you realize that." Jake said.

Brooke insisted she was okay and that he didn't need to hang around just for her and because of that Jake left.

As he got into his car. And watched Brooke walk over to her own.

He realized Lucas is the biggest fool he's ever known.

Brooke Davis was to be loved and cherished yet he was letting her slip away and that was something he couldn't grasp.

...

Hours Later

The Scott Home

Lucas entered the home. Putting all the food and drinks needed for their movie night in the kitchen.

While he heard conversation and the back and forth of movement at the front door.

"My favorite people have arrived." Lucas said with a smile.

Sage and Lowen smiled and hugged their dad.

"How was school?" He asked.

He listened closely as they recalled their day.

"Get started on homework. The sooner that gets done."

"The sooner you'll have free time." Brooke instructed.

"Yes momma." They replied in unison. As they started to make their way upstairs.

"They just home they can relax and unwind for awhile." Lucas said.

"They've done that and end up forgetting about what needs to be done sleeping late and in a bad mood. Showing up to classes late."

"You think i like having to be the one staying on top of stuff like this? You get to cool fun dad. I can't let things slip or they dont get done. I know what's like growing up with no rules or structure."

"I don't want that for them. You know the benefits of it. You had Karen and Keith." Brooke explained.

"I think we should hold off on talking to the kids tonight."

"I think it needs to be a decision we both agree with. Being on the same side. Seperation is basically a trial divorce."

"You may want to end this marriage but i don't." Lucas proclaimed.

"What do you want Lucas? You think i woke up one day wanting to just end my marriage?"

"I fought for us for so long despite how you've acted and how i felt."

"For our kids for our history. None of this is easy or simple for me." Brooke proclaimed.

"It seems very easy for you to cut and run." Lucas replied.

Brooke glared at him.

"Good the both of you are home. Mom I need to talk to you." Simon said. As he came through the front door.

Brooke focused on him. "Let's go to you're room." She replied. Smiling warmly.

Once the two were upstairs in Simon's room with the door closed.

"You can tell me anything you know that." Brooke started off.

"This whole Taylor thing. Do you want me to meet her?" Simon asked.

Brooke realized then. He was asking for her permission.

She knew the power she held with this. Her rejection meant Taylor would be out of their lives for good.
