August, 1986:

It has been a year since Harry was abandoned in Santa Carla. He has since gained four older brothers and a father. A Family. For the first time in years, Harry feels safe and loved. It has been an eventful year too. When Harry learned that his new family were vampires, he was insanely curious. Max had fun satiating his curiosity on vampires and other such topics. Harry hasn't just been learning about vampires though, he has been learning about his new family as well. He learned that David was a cowboy, and that Max turned him to save his life after he was shot. Max said that David reminded him of himself with his ruthlessness. He learned that Paul and Marko knew each other before they were turned. They lived in Los Angeles and were taking a trip to Chicago on 30 June 1956. They boarded United Airlines Flight 718, and their plane departed at 9:04 AM PST. As soon as their plane was above The Grand Canyon, Arizona, they collided with Trans World Airlines Flight 2. Both boys were lucky to have been found by David and turned at the cost of the remaining survivors. Harry learned the most from Dwayne though. The gist of it was Dwayne was born and raised in Boston, he had met David before he was turned, he worked for The Boston Herald, and he hates fire. Why does Dwayne hate fire? Because on 9 November 1872, a fire broke out in the basement of a commercial warehouse at 83-87 Summer Street. The fire lasted 12 hours and destroyed 778 buildings, including the building in which The Boston Herald was housed. David found him barely breathing from smoke inhalation and turned him.

Harry also loves spending time with his new family, learning, and doing fun activities. Max encourages Harry's curiosity and teaches him reading and math and watches fun movies with him. David finds his curiosity amusing and is teaching him American and global history, he also makes up games to play that makes learning history really fun. Paul likes teaching him about music, and he usually dances with him to Rock and Roll. Marko teaches him about the different animals and how to take care of his pigeons. Dwayne spends the most time with him reading to him, teaching him languages, going on rides with him, and a lot more.

On most nights, Harry watches movies in the back of the video store or Dwayne takes him on the rides. The carousel is his favorite with all of the fun horses and pretty lights. This night is no different. They both have fun going on all the rides and riding the carousel multiple times. It's while they are on the carousel that they notice a young boy that is all alone staring at them with yearning.

"We should go over there."

"Why do you say that little one?"

"He seems lonely," Harry says with finality with a nod.

Dwayne chuckles but complies.

They jump off the carousel, with Dwayne holding Harry, and walk over to the young boy still staring at them.

"Hello!" greets Harry.

"Hi."

"What's your name? Mine is Harry!"

"Laddie."

"Why are you out here alone?"

"I was abandoned here this morning. My mommy said I am a waste of money and that she hopes I go missing." He says looking down.

"I was abandoned too. You should live with us. He should live with us." Harry says to Laddie and then Dwayne.

"That is really up to Max, Harry." Dwayne starts and Harry looks sad. "But I suppose we can ask," he finishes.

So, the three head to the video store, and Harry prattles to Laddie the whole way there. Regaling him with stories about Max and David and Dwayne and Paul and Marko and telling Laddie how much fun they can have together.

When they get there, Max is busy so they head to the back and Dwayne sets the two boys in front of the TV with a movie to watch. Dwayne then goes back out front to wait to talk to Max.

As soon as he is done, Max walks over to Dwayne and asks, "What is wrong? Is Harry okay?"

"Yes. He is okay. We found another abandoned kid and Harry wants him to join the family. So, I took them to you."

"Well then, let us see," Max says before walking to the back.

They walk back and both boys look invested in the movie. Unfortunately, they need to talk, so Max pauses the movie.

"Hello there," he says. "What is your name child?"

"Laddie."

"Laddie what?"

"Laddie Thompson."

"Any relation to Marko Thompson?"

"He's my great uncle. He went missing though. Mommy says I should go missing like great uncle Marko, so she left me here."

"We can work with this. I can gain guardianship of you a lot easier than I gained guardianship of Harry," Max mused. "How old are you, Laddie?"

"I am ten."

Max turns to Dwayne. "Go tell the others. I'll watch over the boys. And maybe tell Marko that I have a relative of his at the store."

Dwayne nods and leaves.

"Now buys, I'll leave you guys to your movie. And after I get someone to watch the store, we can go back to my house and get Laddie settled in with us."

"Yay!" says Harry while Laddie nods with a small smile.

A few hours later finds Max, David, Dwayne, Paul, Marko, Harry, and Laddie in Max's living room. Max explains vampires and half-vampires to Laddie and introduces him and Marko to each other. Both of whom get on well and chat quietly with each other. Max forms a plan to get custody of Laddie and determines that he can ask the goblins for help if he turns Laddie into a half-vampire.

"Laddie? Would you consent to becoming a member of my family?"

"Yes."

"Then I'll have to give you my blood. Let's go into the kitchen and we'll get that out of the way."

Laddie smiles at him and runs over and grabs his hand so they can go into the kitchen.

After they come back, Max calls the goblins to get started on gaining custody before they all must retire. While they are at it, they give Laddie an inheritance test to put on file.

Birth Name: Laddie Liam Thompson

Birthday: 20 June 1976

Status: Half-Vampire

Heir: Thompson

"If you sign here, then we can get his guardianship legally changed to you," says the goblin.

"Thank you for this and for helping to gain custody of Harry the previous year."

David smiles at the boys and says, "Now we just need to get Laddie a proper wardrobe and furniture for here and the cave. Are they both staying here today?"

"Yes. That would be best. In fact, you should probably all stay here today. It is cutting it close to sunup."

The four of them grumble but agree.
