On The Run With Meryl

Hello and welcome to another experimental fanfic of Boku no Hero Academia, in which a new inspiration popped into my head in an unexpected way, as this will be the second MHA which Izuku Midoriya will star, but in a different way.
In the manga and anime, he was born Quirkless and aspired to become a hero like All Might, but was turned down before being given the OFA Quirk. Here an experimental idea popped in to my head, in which what would happen if Midoriya is in a DIFFERENT situation.
Yup, it'll be something different, in which a sudden idea came to my head, such as what if Midoriya finds himself a WANTED INDIVIDUAL and becomes a target of a very influential individual which would definitely affect everyone around him.
Yep, this is somewhat similar to the situation he is in during World Heroes Mission, but this time Midoriya earned the ire of the American president, and that Midoriya is framed for murder, as he gets embroiled in a situation which involves Meryl, a minor female character who appeared midway in the Final War arc, where she bravely defied her superiors and proclaiming her stance against All For One when the American president is appealing to the main villain.
Yeah, an unlikely pairing between Midoriya and Meryl, I decided to try experimenting this and see if this would attract readers, and yes, since this is M-rated, there will be LOVE SCENES between the two, which would attract some attention as Midoriya is 16 years old while Meryl is possibly the same age as Hawks (I'm guessing that Meryl is 22 years old based on her physical appearance).
Lastly, as stated in the summary, this fic will be taking place in America and set some time after the events of the World Heroes Mission anime film, and that Midoriya would be in a life-or-death situation as he faces his pursuers, which also includes pro heroes in the US, and this might also involve Star and Stripe.
Yeah, I might put the two in battle since she is the number one pro hero in the US, and this is where the conflict comes in, once she finds out that Midoriya is All Might's successor and this would make her contemplate on whether to apprehend Midoriya or help him out.

Ch. 1: Amerika no shōgekiha
During the World Crisis…
The scene shifts at Otheon, which is a located on an island at the southwestern rim of the Celtic Sea. The island is roughly egg-shaped and slightly larger than Ireland.
Otheon, which is near Klayd, is the smaller of the two nations and has a coastline towards the Bay of Biscay. The culture seems to be heavily influenced by France, Spain, and Portugal, while the official language appears to be English. Otheon is a member of the European Union and has the Euro as its currency.
Geographically, Otheon is a mountainous country, with grasslands, and forests, although the closer someone gets to the border with Klayd, the more barren the landscape becomes.
The next scene shifts at a hidden base where the leader of the doomsday cult calledHumariseis set to commit mass murder via genocide as they announced earlier that they will PURIFY the world by killing the ones with Quirk and spare the Quirkless, sending everyone all over the world in a panic and the pro heroes are working around the clock to evacuate the citizens while searching for the hidden bombs.
The scene shifts inside where Katsuki Bakugo and Shoto Todoroki are fighting against the Humarise agents which took a toll on both sides before Todoroki and Bakugo eventually defeated the Humarise agents but we're severely injured to move ahead and mentally hoped that Izuku Midoriya would be able to stop the mastermind and deactivate the bombs.
Further inside the hidden lair, the mastermind,Flect Turn, is giving Midoriya a hard time as his Quirk repel the attacks that Midoriya unleashed, and the 16-year old boy was badly injured but persevered asRody Soultries to make a bargain with Flect, and the mastermind smirked seeing that victory is at hand, only to find out that it was just an act and Rody proceeded to head to the main computer to deactivate the bombs.
Enraged for being fooled, Flect Turn reactivates the room's laser defenses to shoot at both of them. Rody manages to dodge some of the shots but in the end, he is fatally wounded by one of the lasers. Still, he continues to make his way to deactivate the bombs while Midoriya keeps Flect Turn at bay. He increases the power of One For All and attacks Flect Turn with volumes of kicks and punches to keep him at bay. Rody manages to get to the computer, but ends up passing out from blood loss before inserting the key.
"Rody!"
"…"
"Are you okay?"
"…"
"Answer me!"
"…"
"Rody!"
"…"
Smirking, Flect Turn mocks him for failing just like his father, which is replied by attacks from a raging Midoriya, but this time, to the villain's surprise, he begins to budge with each blow, realizing a fact he thought was impossible: his Quirk actually has limits. This is pointed out by Midoriya, who rubs salt into the wound by telling him that the only reason his life was full of sadness is because he gave up instead of believing in his own Quirk.
"You're such a petty person!"
"No!"
"Rather than finding a way to turn it into a gift, you chose to hurt people!"
"Quirks are a curse!"
"Yet you use it! You are the fool!"
"You lie!"
"I'll stop you and end this madness!"
"Never!"
Unable to accept he was wrong all this time, Flect Turn resorts to continue fighting him.
Now both Midoriya and Flect Turn are evenly matched, until Midoriya eventually realizes that Flect Turn's reflecting Quirk cannot sustain too much damage, and every time it reflects an attack, Flect Turn loses stamina and the Reflect gets weaker. Pushing through with another barrage of kick attacks and powerful punches, Flect Turn starts to fall back even further.
Glancing at the monitors where other pro heroes and his friends and classmates from UA Academy giving their all in averting the tragedy, which in turn inspired by everyone else all around the world still fighting their hardest even when things seem at its bleakest, Midoriya vows to defeat Flect Turn and pushes himself beyond his limitation by activating One For All: Full Cowl - 100%, overloading the Reflect Quirk with a bombardment of super-fast punches that causes the Quirk to be stretched further beyond its limits until the Quirk releases its pent-up energy.
"You're going to pay for the murders you committed!"
"No!"
"You will have to REFLECT the action you made!"
"Never! I won't lose to the likes of you!"
"I will save everyone!"
"You won't win!"
"Your crazy campaign ends right now!"
"Never! I refuse!"
With a rush of adrenaline, Midoriya finally knocks the villain out for good using the built-up energy to power his Super Move: United States of World Smash.
After defeating the villain, Midoriya runs downstairs to help Rody. He arrives at the control room to find that Rody is still alive, and that Pino had managed to insert the key in time, defusing all the bombs and saving the world. In the World Hero Association and in all the cities where the bombs were found, the heroes celebrate that the tragedy has been stopped. A semi-conscious Rody asks him if he has managed to protect his family, and Midoriya replies he did, saying he is amazing. Rody then says that make him looks real cool, and both laughs.
"So I really am cool, huh?"
"Yeah…you are, Rody."
"Ha-ha…"
"You can be a pro hero if you want…"
"I rather follow my dream…and I need it to support my siblings…"
"I see…"
"Still…thanks, Midoriya."
"Sure. No problem."

In the aftermath, the pro heroes and the Otheon authorities were able to identify and arrest the police officials who are connected to Humarise, while the rest of the pro heroes arrested the rest of the Humarise members here and Klayd, and in a few days later Midoriya, Bakugo and Todoroki are recovering from their injuries and spend another few days at the hospital until they were given clearance to be discharged.
After that Midoriya is seen giving his regards to Rody and the two boys shook hands before the latter departed, telling Midoriya to carry on his dreams of becoming a pro hero while he will continue his dream of becoming a pilot.
"Well…this is where we part."
"Yeah."
"You follow your dreams. I do mine."
"I'm sure you'll succeed, Rody."
"Be the number one hero of the whole world, Midoriya."
"I will."
"Well, see you, Midoriya."
"Goodbye, Rody."
As Rody left to head back to Otheon, Midoriya is about to leave when Bakugo approached him and tells him he has to be careful next time and not act too reckless, reminding him that they still have a score to settle on who will become the next Number One pro hero, which Midoriya nodded and assured to Bakugo that he will be more careful next time
After that, the Endeavor Agency Team departed Otheon and head back to Japan, feeling that the World Heroes Association's mission in stopping Humarise is a success, and there Midoriya glanced at the window of the airplane as he wondered what awaits him once the Endeavor Agency Team arrive back at Musutafu.

A few weeks later…
The scene shifts at Heights Alliance where members of Class 1-A are having breakfast, as today is Saturday, and there it is revealed that recently UA Academy principal Nezu made a decree where Saturday classes would be abolished and thus classes at UA Academy would be only on weekdays, which majority of the students and staff members are fine with it and there things move along until Midoriya received a messenger text message from Melissa Shield, where she told Midoriya to check the news.
Sensing that something is up, Midoriya turned on the TV where a simultaneous news report is being broadcasted, where the current president of the United States Of America, Joseph "Joe" Byed-En, was assassinated, which took most of the world by surprise, and there most members of Class 1-A commented that this would surely affect World leaders as America is currently the SUPERPOWER, with China attempting to seize that title.
"What the…?"
"No way…"
"It can't be…"
"Is this for real…?"
"The president of the United States Of America…assassinated…?"
"How…?"
"Someone killed the president…?"
"Oh my goodness…"
The tone of the Class 1-A members' comments were somewhat divided, as each one commented on Byed-En's performance as United States Of America's president which had mixed receptions, where some of the negatives overshadowed the positives, such as how Byed-En handled the situation at Afghanistan which led to the Taliban reclaiming that country and re-enforced the forced Islamic law on the Afghans which drew condemnation worldwide, as well as increasing hospitalizations from the Delta variant, high inflation and gas prices, disarray within the Democratic Party, and a general decline in popularity customary in politics.
Class 1-A, however, gave Byed-En positives in addressing some situations such as police brutality and gun control law and the such, whilst American approval ratings for him somehow maintained above the 50% mark, which the Class 1-A members noted, as they admitted that they are still divided in opinion on Byed-En.
"Although I never see him in person…I don't think he's a bad person."
"And he did address some of the issues that hounded his country…"
"Yeah, such as doing something about the gun control law and the such…"
"And the controversial police brutality there…at least Byed-En addressed it in a calm way and it somehow appeased the victims' families…"
"I agree, but there are some things I don't agree with…"
"Same here…some of his policies were unpopular and controversial."
"Still, I have a feeling that Japan might be affected by Byed-En's assassination…unless the culprit has been identified…"
"Yeah…"
Then several minutes later the next sudden report came in, where Mineta stared wide-eyed in interest as a female reporter appeared, where she is described as a dark-skinned curvaceous woman of seemingly average height, with blue eyes, thick eyebrows, and light blonde shoulder length hair.
For her attire, she is mainly seen in an all white thigh-length dress, with shoes in a similar color, and a wristwatch on her left wrist.
The caption appeared which revealed her name as Meryl, and Mineta began making PERVERTED panting sounds as he finds her sexy and he felt like wanting to ogle, which Sero, Kirishima and Ojiro stared wide-eyed and urged Mineta to stop as he is making the girls feel uncomfortable with his verbal antics.
"HHHHHAAAAHHH~H… HHHHHAAAAHHH~H… HHHHHAAAAHHH~H… HHHHHAAAAHHH~H…"
"H-hey…stop that…"
"That's very unmanly of you…"
"Keep it down, Mineta…"
"HHHHHAAAAHHH~H… HHHHHAAAAHHH~H… HHHHHAAAAHHH~H… HHHHHAAAAHHH~H…"
"Cut it out already…"
"The girls would get turned off…"
"Yeah, so please knock it off…"
Ignoring Mineta, Yaoyorozu uses her smartphone to do a research on Meryl as she finds her somewhat a mix between being a professional and an amateur, and there Yaoyorozu finds out that Meryl is part of the BCD News, where it turns out that she mainly reports on the weather that is currently happening, even outside of the United States, and does some research on the weather herself, relaying the information in a professional condense way.
The other girls blinked their eyes at hearing what Yaoyorozu said, and are baffled as to how a weather reporter would be covering important news such as the assassination of the president of the United States Of America.
"Huh? She's actually a weather reporter?"
"Seriously?"
"For real?"
"Yes…that's the information that I got…"
"How is that possible?"
"Did she got a sudden promotion or something?"
"Maybe the higher-ups there find her attractive and assigned her to do news reporting sonas to enticing alit of male viewers…"
"Can't say for sure…"
Midoriya glanced at Meryl, as he felt that she reminded him of Melissa, and there he noted that she had a look of sadness and dismay, as Meryl made the next report where the vice president, Kamala-la Harrison was killed in a car explosion just 30 minutes after Byed-En was killed, which majority of the Class 1-A members were taken by surprise.
With two leaders of America dead, this would set a chain of events that would affect America itself, and Iida wondered what would happen next, now that both the president and the vice president are killed and this would affect the morale of the American people and the rest of the world, while Bakugo commented that those critical towards America are more than likely celebrating this situation, such as China and North Korea.

The next morning, Bakugo woke up early and made a mug of warm milk and decided to open the TV to check on something, which he took a sip, only for seconds later to choke and spit as Midoriya, who also woke up early, noticed what is happening and asked Bakugo is there is something wrong, which Bakugo pointed his finger at the TV screen, which Midoriya looked, and saw Meryl once more doing TV reporting and had a look of apprehension yet she maintain her professional demeanor.
Then Midoriya stared wide-eyed as the report became apparent, where Meryl reported that the United States presidential line of succession has been disrupted as the following individuals were reportedly killed:
- Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mike Johnson-n-Johnson
- President pro tempore of the Senate, Patty-Burger Murrayband
- Secretary of State, Antony Blinkofenaye
- Secretary of the Treasury, Janet Yelling
- Secretary of Defense, Lloyds-Of-London Austin-Powers
- Attorney General, Merrick Garlikenonyon
- Secretary of the Interior, Debut Haalanderensi
- Secretary of Agriculture, Tomboy Vilsackofryes
- Secretary of Commerce, Gina Raimondog
- Secretary of Labor, Julie Suyuinyorfes
- Secretary of Health and Human Services, X-rated Becerratouille
- Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, Adrianne Toadstool
- Secretary of Transportation, Pete Buttoff
- Secretary of Energy, Jenniferari Granola
- Secretary of Education, Mig-el Cardonadeck
- Secretary of Veterans Affairs, Dennis McDonut
Midoriya was in a state of disbelief at seeing the sudden turn of events, seeing that America appeared to have been crippled politically as all elected cabinet officials were killed, and as Meryl reported that the investigation is currently ongoing, she appeared to be more serious and apprehensive yet she maintain her bold and upfront attitude.
Bakugo just stared at the TV screen as he felt that something is off, as yesterday the president and vice president were killed separately, and just now the entire cabinet members are killed off suddenly, and there something came into his head, as he wondered how the American Branch of the Hero Public Safety Commission would come into play as all elected officials are dead.
Bakugo also wondered what would happen to the pro heroes there, especially the number one pro hero of America, as this would affect that pro hero's loyalty, whether to follow the new president or not. By then Iida and Todoroki came down and we're surprised to see Bakugo and Midoriya staring at the TV and they asked what happened, only to be taken aback upon hearing the reason why.
"The members of President Byed-En's administration were killed…?"
"Huh? All killed simultaneously…? That can't be…!"
"Don't look at me. I just found out after turning on the TV."
"Ka-chan's right. Even I was taken by surprise…"
"This is bad…not only for America…but also for the rest of the world…"
"I agree, Todoroki! This is unprecedented! Who would be bold enough to commit such mass murders? And how did the murderer be able to carry it out without being seen?"
"Unless the culprit possess a stealth-like Quirk, it's safe to say that the murders may have been carried out by more than one person."
"Ka-chan…"
Iida and Todoroki feel concerned as this latest news would surely send shockwaves all over the world as this was unprecedented, and they did not expect that the mass murders would happen so quickly without warning, and now that all elected cabinet members and officials are dead, naming a successor is almost an impossible task, as this situation has never happened before in America.
Yaoyorozu was the next to arrive and overheard the discussion and news, and there she offered her insight, in which a SNAP ELECTION is likely the next step in order to arrest the possible crisis in America, which her classmates appeared to understand the ramifications of the current situation in the US.
"A snap election…"
"I see…"
"So the American politicians are going to use that route to address the vacancies of the line of succession…"
"Yes. Since the Speaker of the House, the Senate president and the Secretary of Defense are killed, there won't be anyone who could fill the positions of President and Vice president. And it would be impossible to appoint those whose positions are below the aforementioned positions…"
"Then the snap elections is America's last-ditch effort to arrest a possible crisis that might cripple America, and to prevent those from taking advantage."
"It is likely the only course the American politicians can do at this point…"
"That's the information you got, Yaoyorozu?"
"Yes, Bakugo. Based on the research I did on Google and Wikipedia."

Hope you liked the opening chapter, as it shows the events taking place at the conclusion of the World Heroes Mission anime film, which I felt that it would fit in the current events of the My Hero Academia world, but also to give a narrative on the possible chain of events that would affect not only America but also the rest of the world, Japan included…
Also, this idea popped into my mind after re-watching the 2009 American film, 2012, in which it also shows what happened to America after the presidential line of succession was disrupted, following the deaths of the President, the Vice President and the disappearance of the Speaker of the House.
This gave me some ideas on what to do and in making this fic as it highlights the ramifications in the event this scenario happens in real life, and this made me feel that this scenario fits on the plot that I'm making, thus I decided to make an experimental subplot where all presidential line of succession have been disrupted and how this would affect a country, such as America.
The cabinet officials appearing and depicted here are FICTIONALIZED VERSIONS of the current presidential administration of America, hence they are depicted as the current officials who would be killed off in order to advance the plot, given that the MHA manga and anime didn't name the American president who is giving in to All For One, and since I couldn't think of creating original characters who would portray the presidential cabinet members, I decided to make a parody of the current administration members, so ️(peace) out to the readers in the US, as this is a fanfiction and I have no intention of bashing any political individuals of any country.
Meryl makes her appearance here, and though portrayed as a weather reporter in the manga and anime, her sudden PROMOTION to news reporter was unexplained, but I'll provide a brief explanation to that in the next chapter.
