NOTE: I couldn't resist it! I wasn't trying to update this story! Anyway, I at least have this itch scratched again, so I can try to focus on other stuff. I was writing two other different chapters for different stories while working on this one.
Enjoy and Review!
Chapter 2: Black-Star Dragon Balls
BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!
The ringing of an alarm clock continued to ring within the confines of the bedroom. Bundled underneath the expensive blankets of the queen-sized bed, the small bump twitched slightly. The bump ignored the alarm clock, simply wishing to remain in their peaceful slumber just for a bit longer.
BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!
A hand reached out towards the alarm clock. Buzzing at the tip of the finger was a ball of yellow KI. It zipped towards the clock, blowing it to pieces upon contact, and leaving a smoking heap of metal in its place.
Clearly satisfied with their actions, the arm retracted back to the warmth of the blankets to continue their slumber-
KNOCK! KNOCK! KNOCK!
"Pan! I heard that explosion! Don't tell me you destroyed another alarm clock!"
Grumbling underneath her breath, the blankets were tossed away to reveal the disgruntled grumpy child underneath. A 10-year-old Son Pan, dressed in a fuzzy pink bunny onesie, glared at the direction of her door. "I'm trying to get some sleep, Mama!"
"It's 8:30 in the morning, young lady! You have school today, remember?! Get up now or else you won't be going out to the arcade with Bulla and Hina this weekend!"
"UGH!" Pan groaned loudly. "Fine! I'll get dressed!"
"Good! Your breakfast will be waiting for you down in the dining room!" Videl explained through the door. Pan waited until her mother was back downstairs before crawling out of her bed. The young hybrid did some light stretches to work out the remnants of sleepiness that lingers her body.
Once she finished with that, Pan walked towards her dresser to pick whatever outfit she'd don for the day. Lining the top of her dresser were several golden trophies, two were physical reminders of her victories in the 28th and 29th World Tournaments, one was for winning a tournament at her Grandpa H's dojo, and the last was for coming first place in a gymnastics competition a few months ago.
She ignored her trophies in favor of grabbing her school uniform, a red hoodie with a chained heart design on the chest, and a pair of fingerless gloves. Pan remembered Bulla telling her that her gloves were unladylike, but fashion advice from one of the richest families in the world was on the very bottom of her needs list. Pan took her clothes and scampered off towards the shower to get cleaned up.
"I guess the sleeping princess finally decided to wake up, huh? Did I miss a charming prince walking through the house?" Pan frowned at her father's joke as she entered the dining room.
Son Gohan still looked mostly the same. He retains his spiked-up hairstyle with the only difference being it is a little longer and is fully swept up, not having any hanging bangs. He is dressed like a businessman, in a suit and a tie.
"Ha ha ha! Funny, Papa, I didn't know you were getting your jokes from those old meme websites Auntie Fami likes to swim through." Pan fired back, earning a blush from her father.
"I-I don't get any of my jokes from the internet!" Gohan defended himself.
"Yeah, especially after Denji went through your search history on your laptop." Videl joined in as she placed several plates of food on the table. She wears a light teal denim jacket and skirt with a yellow shirt sleeve undershirt, dark gray leggings with white folded sleeves at the edge, brown belt and her yellow boots from her second outfit. Her hair is long where it reaches her lower back, and it is done in a low braided ponytail with a few strands hanging over her forehead and ears.
"I still don't know how he even managed to get my password." Gohan grumbles into his coffee cup.
"Anyway, hurry up and finish your breakfast, Pan, or you'll be late for school." Videl advises as she takes a bit into her own.
Pan stabs her fork into the fresh stack of pancakes. "Why would I need to hurry? I can get there pretty quickly by flying, Mama."
"It's the principal of the matter, Pan." Gohan responds. "See, when I was your age-"
"You would get up three hours before school started just to be extra sure you wouldn't end up being late." Pan finished the tale for him. "You've said this a hundred times already, Papa. I'll be fine, besides there's more important things going on today."
"And what would that be?"
"I get to teach a class at Grandpa H's dojo today!" Pan puffed out her chest.
"Wait, really?" Gohan blinked.
Videl nodded. "Right, I forgot to tell you that my Dad called about it a while ago. He said since Pan won the last tournament, and he officially retired from martial arts, she's strong enough now to earn some special privileges." She rolled her eyes slightly. Her boastful father had lost to Pan twice, both at the 28th and 29th tournaments. Even though he was fully aware of the biological advantages the girl held, he decided it was time to hang up his title and officially hand the belt over to Pan. Which was great for publicity since it looked like a passing of the torch moment.
"Yup! Gramps wants me to show off just how much better I am than everyone else!"
"I'm pretty sure he just wants you to teach."
Pan ignored her mother. "So, I'll be heading over there after school today."
"If that's the case, then hurry up to school or I'll tell Hercule that the world champion couldn't make it due to getting grounded for another tardy slip." Gohan's threat made the younger hybrid flinch.
"Okay, okay! I get ya, Papa!" Pan hurried and scarfed down her breakfast. "Thanks for the food, Mama!" She pushed off her chair, grabbed her bags, and rushed towards the door. As she did, the young hybrid ended up bumping into the picture cabinet, knocking one of the frames over. "Oops!"
She prayed that the frame didn't crack or else her mother would punish her for it. Thankfully, the frame was still in perfect condition. As her eyes scanned over the photo, she noticed it was the time their family and friends all went to the beach. Pan's eyes locked onto one person in particular.
Her Grandpa Goku. His smile was as bright as the sun itself as he held her up to put the finishing touches on the sandcastle they built.
Five years ago, he had abandoned them all in favor of teaching that really strong kid named Uub. None of them had heard a single word from him or seen him since that day at the tournament. Pan remembered the pain that coursed through her heart as she watched him leave her so easily. She was strong now, far stronger than she had been back then. Maybe, if he was here now, would he stay and acknowledge her strength?
Just as soon as that thought entered, she pushed it right back down with her feelings.
So, what if he left? That's his problem, not hers. She and everyone else moved on with their lives just fine without him around. Hell, she's the frickin champion of the world now! Twice even! She didn't need him or his teachings.
"Pan! What are you still doing here?! Get going!" Videl's shout snapped her out of her thoughts.
Quickly placing the picture back on the shelf, Pan hurried towards the door. "S-sorry, Mama! I'm going!"
Gohan stuck his head out. "By the way, Pan! Be sure to visit your Grandma today too! She hasn't seen you in a while!"
"Okay, Papa! I'll go do that!" Pan shouted as she took to the skies, ready to start a new day. As the sun shined down brightly on her, the young hybrid knew this day would be perfect! Nothing was going to get in her way!
"HYAAAAAAAAAH!"
"RAAAAAAAAAAH!"
The white endless void of the Hyperbolic Time Chamber vibrates violently as unimaginable power coursed throughout the separate dimension. The source of the tremor came from two very familiar individuals. One was Son Goku, the Saiyan raised on Earth, is dressed in a blue dogi with a white knot-style obi, pink wristbands, yellow pants, and black kung fu shoes with white leg wraps. His usual black hair has transformed into the spiky appearance of his Super Saiyan 2 form.
Facing off against him, fingers interlocked in a fierce struggle, was his student Uub. Over the past five years he has grown considerably taller and muscular. He wears a gi similar to his mentor, consisting of a teal uniform with a yellow belt and wristbands and red brown boots.
Their auras mixed together, a fusion of pure white and gold created a dazzling storm of energy that was damaging the white void. Uub kicked out against his mentor, breaking their struggle to get some room. The Saiyan slid back a bit, feeling his stomach where Uub had hit him. "Look at you, Uub! All of that power you've been using and you're barely breaking a sweat!" Goku chuckled.
Uub smiled, pleased by his words. "I have you to thank for this, master. If it weren't for your teachings, I never would've gained the strength necessary to protect my family."
"Don't give me all the credit. Your hard work and dedication did all of that. I'm just proud to see how much stronger you've become." Goku loosened up his body with a few stretches before crouching. "Now then, let's get this final test underway! We're going all out, Uub! This battle doesn't end until one of us is knocked out!"
"Right!" Uub got into a stance as he felt his master's energy start to skyrocket.
"HYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!" Goku roared, ascending into his strongest form. Uub held steady as the winds kicked up twelve notches in response to his master's ever-growing strength. In a flash of light, Goku finished transforming into Super Saiyan 3, his intimidating features caused the reincarnation to gulp.
Uub shook away his fear. "No! I'm not that weak kid anymore who doesn't understand anything! This time, I'll give my master a proper battle and show him just how far I've come!" With a deep exhale, Uub's own monstrous power erupted like a volcano. His eyes glowed red as his true power reached its maximum output. "Let's do this, master!"
"Heh! All right! Let's make this a battle to remember!" Goku declared and dashed forward. Uub's body moved as well to meet his master head on. Their fists clashed in a fierce exchange that left shockwaves in their wake. As their battle continued to reach even more devastating heights, master and student found themselves lost in enjoyment.
"...So, do you think they'll use up the entire day?" Dende asked his assistant. Much like his fellow Namekian Piccolo, Dende hadn't changed much in the last five years. The same could be said for Mr. Popo, who looked the exact same as he always did.
"Goku did not plan to use up the entire year. He simply wanted a space where they could go all out and cause as minimal damage as possible." Mr. Popo answered.
"True, Mr. Popo. Considering Uub's status as the evil Buu's reincarnation, it makes sense to not risk the planet getting too damaged in consequence of their fight." Dende said.
Unknown to them, as they waited for Goku and Uub's return, three mechanical robots were ascending towards the Lookout. It was none other than the Pilaf Gang, who hasn't aged all that well in the time that has passed. As usual the three of them were up to no good, scheming away in order to achieve their goal of world domination.
Back with the God of Earth, his eyes snapped wide when he felt the emergence of two familiar KI signatures. "Mr. Popo, they're exiting the chamber!"
True to his words, an injured and exhausted Goku and Uub walked outside of the palace to greet their friends. Their clothing was heavily damaged, barely managing to stay on their bodies. Goku held his student's arm over his shoulder, and Goku assisted him on their way out. "We're finished, Dende!"
"So, I take it that Uub has completed his final test?" Dende asked.
"Hehe! He passed with flying colors! It was an all-out battle with no holding back." Goku responded.
"Did you have fun, Dende?" Mr. Popo asked.
"Yes-guh…!" He winced, still feeling his injuries. The young boy collapsed in his master's arms, worrying them.
"Ah! Uub-gah…!" Goku's injuries weren't any better and he fell onto the marble floor with Uub.
Fully realizing the terrible state their friends were in, Dende hurried and healed them both back up to perfect condition. "Mr. Popo, please hurry and give them some proper clothing!"
"Right!"
As the day dwindles on, people and the like continue on with their day-to-day routine as if it were a mandatory checklist. For the prestigious West City Elementary, this would also end up like any other day.
"Please accept my gift, Miss Briefs!"
"No! Accept mine first!"
"No way! I was here first!"
Sitting in her own personal section of the cafeteria that she had requested back when she first enrolled, Bulla Briefs gave the group of boys a disgusted stare. She's dressed in the school's uniform, a white button-up with a black blazer that would normally have the school's symbol embedded on the chest. However, she had personally customized it to have the Saiyan Royal Family crest placed upon it. She also wears a black skirt that goes down to her knees and a pair of black dress shoes with pink highlights. "Can't you losers see that I'm trying to enjoy my meal in peace?"
All five of the young boys, who are wearing the male versions of the uniform, straightened their backs at her command. "Apologies, but we simply wish to show you our appreciation for your stunning beauty and stellar behavior!"
She had to resist the urge to roll her eyes, not buying a single word. Bulla wasn't stupid, she knew these guys were simply trying to win her favor for their family's sake. She was the heiress to the biggest corporation the world has ever known (Even if she wasn't the one currently running it) and getting her on their side would boost their families' reputation. Too bad for them that she couldn't care less for their agendas.
Picking up her metal fork, Bulla bent it in half effortlessly. "Move it or else this will be your spines."
Her tactic worked as intended. The boys scampered away with their tails tucked between their legs, tripping over each other as they did so. Easily maneuvering past the pathetic elitist boys was another young girl or better yet, one of Bulla's BFFs. She has long messy blonde hair tied into a ponytail and brown-yellowish eyes. She's dressed in the same uniform as Bulla but with the school's symbol instead of the Saiyan crest. The girl smiled at the scene, showing those pearly white shark-like teeth. "Looks like you're having another fantastic lunch break."
"Shut up, Hina." Bulla snarked as her friend sat down with her own tray of food. Though this was a private institution filled with rich and powerful families, those of lesser status can still enroll as long as they can meet the academic requirement. Hina Hayakawa took a lot after her mother's intelligence when it came to school.
"Huah! I wish I could get a group of boys to declare their undying love for me like you do!" Hina whined.
But her personality was very irritating.
"Trust me, you would regret those words if you had 'suitors' constantly trying to give you presents every single day." Bulla argued.
"But it sounds so romantic to have your own personal prince charmings, doesn't it?" Hina argued back.
"I think you read too many romance novels."
"I think you need to read some yourself."
"No thanks. I rather spend my time reading something actually beneficial like a book about astrophysics, advanced mathematics, and engineering." Bulla listed off her favorite readings. Hina stared at her with a blank look.
"You know…for a girl blessed with such a cute and beautiful appearance, you're a massive nerd." Hina's comment earned herself a glare.
"I wouldn't expect you to understand any of that, Hina. Unlike you, I have a company that I'll have to be ready to run in the future."
"Uh, isn't your brother running it-"
"He shouldn't be!" Bulla exclaimed, earning some looks from some of the other kids in the cafeteria. She noticed and quickly composed herself to regain her 'elegant' appearance. "What I mean to say is…my brother is an incompetent idiot that doesn't know how to run Capsule Corp. The only reason he's been made CEO is because he's the oldest and our Mom threw it at him the moment she had the chance."
"Please, tell us how you really feel." Hina said sarcastically.
"I should be the one in charge. Under my dictator-I mean-leadership, the company would flourish."
"You were about to say something really dangerous there."
Bulla ignored her. "But since I'm still not at the legal age required to hijack-I mean-rightfully debate with my brother over ownership of the company, I must watch in agony as he drives it to the ground."
Hina scratched her cheek. "Aren't you being a little too harsh? I mean, Trunks can't be that bad at it."
"He's already lost three potential business partners because he skipped out on meetings to hang out with Goten and go see Nayuta's band's concerts." Bulla interrupted. "Papa had to drag him back to the office the last time he tried."
"Okay, well, I can't say I can relate to any of that. But I'm sure he's just still adjusting. Give him some time to wise up?" Hina offered.
"Hmmm… I'll give him a week."
"Best you can do, huh?"
Bulla looked around the cafeteria. "By the way, have you seen Pan?"
"She's getting scolded, because she fell asleep during class again." Hina answered.
Bulla scoffed. "Typical."
Hina looked down at her tray and realized something. "Shoot! I forgot to grab a carton of milk!"
"You can eat without that."
"No can do! Dad always said it's important for growing children to drink their milk every day!" Hina declared as she moved to stand. However, she didn't notice that her chair had gotten stuck on an uneven edge of the floor. As she pushed it back, the chair knocked into the back of her knees, causing her to fall backwards. The hybrid smacked into the backrest of the chair, flipping backwards and accidentally kicking her food tray into the air. Which had the unfortunate effect of splashing its contents directly onto Bulla's face and uniform.
As the cafeteria erupted in laughter, Hina chuckled nervously as Bulla's piercing gaze locked onto her. "Hehe…! My bad?"
"Are you sure you want to leave so soon, Uub?" Goku asked. After getting healed by Dende and dressing in some clean clothes, the student of Goku announced his departure.
"Yes, it's been a while since I've seen my family. I want to check up on them and tell them that I've completed my training." Uub explained. "It's the same for you too, isn't it, master?"
"Hm?" Goku tilted his head, then realized what Uub meant. "Oh yeah, I guess it has been some time since I've seen everyone."
"Five years to be exact." Mr. Popo mentions.
"Right. I wonder how they're all doing." Goku chuckled. He could feel out their energy, so he knew everyone was alive and well. But still, due to his wish to solely focus on training Uub, he hadn't given time to talk or visit them. He was sure they were all doing just fine without him.
"Sorry for all the damage we caused inside of the chamber. We almost ended up destroying the door in our fight." Uub apologized to Dende.
"Don't worry about it. It's a good thing you guys brought it up here, since the Earth would have taken heavy damage from a fight like that." Dende said.
Uub nodded, then turned to his teacher and held out his hand. "Again, thank you for everything, master. You helped me master this power of mine and even helped my home. I don't know if I'll ever be able to repay you."
Goku took Uub's hand with his own, bringing a sense of warmth to the boy. "You don't have to repay me at all, Uub. I helped with your training because I wanted to. No matter what happens or whatever paths we may take, remember the time we spent together, yeah? The training, the fun, and the battles will remain with you forever."
Tears trickled the edges of Uub's eyes, but he wiped them away quickly. "Yes! Thank you! I'll cherish these memories forever!"
"Take care!" Goku, Dende, and Mr. Popo waved goodbye as Uub took off down to the Earth below. His departure signaled the conclusion to another chapter of Goku's story.
"Welp, I should probably get going too." Goku said. "But first, do you think you can whip me up some grub, Mr. Popo?"
"Certainly." His old teacher nodded.
"COME FORTH, SHENRON!"
Suddenly, a pillar of light exploded from the Lookout, surprising the three entirely. They looked towards the sky to see it darken to a pitch-black color. A dragon, one that resembled Shenron, appeared, but there were a few differences. This dragon was dark red compared to Shenron's green color scheme, he had more horns sprouting from his head, and his size was triple to that of the green mystical dragon.
"S-Shenron?!" Goku exclaimed.
Mr. Popo's eyes widened. "It can't be…! How did someone find the Black-Star Dragon Balls?!"
"The Black-Star?!" Goku questioned, surprised to hear about another set of Dragon Balls.
"Wait, you've told me about these ones before, Mr. Popo!" Dende gasped.
Mr. Popo turned to Goku. "You must hurry and stop whoever summoned them, Goku! Before we're all put in grave danger!"
Growing serious, the Saiyan nodded his head. "Right! Don't worry, I'll handle it!" He dashed towards the source of the summon while the other two watched what was happening.
"Mr. Popo…if someone found the Black-Star Dragon Balls, then wouldn't that mean…?" Dende looked at his assistant.
"Yes, the Earth has been placed in danger once more. We can only hope Goku will be able to stop a wish from being made." Mr. Popo said.
"Finally! Finally, my goal of world domination will finally come true!" Pilaf shouts, his two lackeys nodding in agreement. "And there's nothing that could possibly stop us-"
"Hey, what are you guys doing?!"
"Eh?" Pilaf and his minions turned around to see Goku walking towards them. It took a moment but those three would never forget that face and hair, the boy who had gotten in their way countless times had grown up. "Y-you…?! No, why are you here?!"
Goku seemed to have recognized them too. "Woah! It's you, Poolaf!"
"IT'S PILAF!"
"Yeah, that's what I said." Goku shrugged. "Man, it's been a long time since I've seen you guys."
"T-to think you're that little boy all grown up…" Mai stuttered.
"The boy who kept foiling our plans every single time." Shu's body was shaking like a leaf.
Pilaf was growling at the Saiyan. "T-this isn't fair! That bastard didn't tell us that you would be here too! All he said was that we would be able to use the ultimate Dragon Balls to get our wish!"
"Hm? What are you talking about?" Goku asked.
"Nothing you need to worry about, fool!" Pilaf motioned to his henchmen. "Hurry and blow him to bits before he ruins everything!"
"Understood, Emperor Pilaf!" Shu and Mai activated their weapon systems. Their bots fired off several missiles at the Saiyan. Goku easily stopped their attempt without even breaking a sweat, terrifying them.
"You guys are up to no good, as usual, huh? I'll give you guys one chance to leave and never come back up here again, okay?" Goku ordered as he placed the missiles on the floor.
Pilaf glared hatefully at his sworn enemy. "Y-you dare order the great emperor Pilaf?! You stupid, bastard! Back when you were a child it was so easy to catch you! ARGH!" He screamed loudly. "I wish you were a kid again, that way I could blow you away without issue!"
"AS YOU WISH."
"Eh?" The Pilaf gang blinked owlishly after hearing the dragon's voice.
Ultimate Shenron's eyes glowed bright, his magical abilities ensnared Goku in a golden sphere of light. Dende and Mr. Popo, after hearing the dragon's voice, rushed over to see just what kind of wish had been made. To their horror, and to the Pilaf gang's disbelief, Goku's body started to shrink down to that of a child.
When the light disappeared, a child-like Son Goku stood there in confusion. "Huh? What just happened? Why did everything get bigger?"
"G-Goku!" Dende yelled.
"I HAVE GRANTED YOUR WISH. FAREWELL." Ultimate Shenron vanished back into the Dragon Balls. The seven mystical orbs took to the skies and vanished, returning the sky back to its bright blue daylight.
While Pilaf and his group made their escape, cursing Goku's name once more, the Earthly Saiyan looked down at his hands. "Huh? I'm small."
"Yeesh! I'm glad that's over!" Pan exclaimed as she and her friends exited their school. Hundreds of higher level children littered the expensive campus grounds like a herd of baby rabbits. Some were going towards the dorms, buses, or their own personal vehicles to get home.
"So…any plans, girls?" Hina asked as she rested against the railing.
"Yeah, homework." Bulla emphasizes to her friend.
"I can get that done before class on Monday. No need to do it now. We can just head to the arcade." Hina suggested.
"We're going to the arcade tomorrow, slacker." Bulla responds.
"Then the movies! There's that new superhero film that came out a few days ago." Hina suggests again.
"Sorry, but I plan to stay on top of my work when I can. And my Papa wants me to be ready for our training sessions after I'm done with my homework. I won't have time to hang out today." Bulla explains. She looked over to see a black limousine with the Capsule Corp logo pulling up to the school. "That's my ride. See you girls later."
The two waved goodbye as Bulla loaded into the limousine that cost far more than their lives would ever be worth. "Do you ever wonder why she takes a limo when she can fly?" Hina asked.
"To show off how rich she is." Pan said.
"I think her existence in general covers that part." Hina jokes. "How about you, Pan? Wanna head to the movies?"
"I can't. I have to go visit my Grandma today before heading over to Grandpa H's dojo to teach a class." Pan explained.
"Wait? You're actually going to be teaching a class?"
"Yup!"
"A class that's going to consist of a bunch of inspiring martial artists who look up to your Grandfather?"
"Yes!"
"...Uh…good luck?"
Pan waved the lack of faith off. "I'll be fine! I'm the World Champion, after all. Sure, some people may still be underestimating me because of my age, but this is my chance to show them. Son Pan isn't some kid who got lucky or was given special treatment! I'm totally the baddest kid around!"
"Whatever you say." Hina said. The two shared a quick hug before Pan hurried off to find a secluded area to fly away.
Now that she was the only one of her friends left, the daughter of Chainsaw Man looked at her watch. "Man… I hope Auntie Reze doesn't take too long to pick me up this time."
Pan quickly flew through the sky to reach the secluded mountains of Mt. Paozu. The general landscape of the mountains hadn't changed much since her childhood which made traveling easier. It didn't take long for her to find the original Son Family household's clearing, the place where her father, uncle, and aunt grew up. Touching down like a weightless feather, Pan knocked on the door with her knuckles. "Grandma! I'm here!"
"Come in!"
That was her Auntie Fami's voice, not her grandmother's. Not that it was a surprise to her or anyone else that comes by to visit. When her Grandpa Goku left, her grandma still at least had her aunt and uncle living with her. But the two of them eventually moved out not long after, and that left her all alone. That was when Fami decided to permanently stay with Makima to keep her company.
Pan walked into the house and placed her bag near the front of the door for now. She wasn't going to stay long but just enough to talk with her grandma. She entered the living room to see her Auntie Fami resting on the couch with a box of pizza in her lap, watching some weird Gundam anime. "Auntie Fami!"
"Hey, Pan. Want some?" Fami hadn't changed much in the last five years other than growing out her hair. The pink locks of hair reached down her back, hanging loosely like a waterfall. She's wearing a light blue dress with stitch-like patterns along the torso and arms.
The little hybrid frowned at the sloppy-looking slice. There was a bunch of weird toppings like pickles, grapes, carrots, meat, and peanut butter on it. She had seen her Uncle Goten eat one of her weird pizza combos once, and his stomach did not enjoy the taste. "I-I'm good, Auntie. Is Grandma upstairs?"
"She's in her room, yeah. Knock before you enter." Fami warned.
"Gotcha!" Pan turned and hurried up the stairs. There was a stack of old doggy bowls left by the counter, collecting dust. At some point her grandma stopped adopting pets, having lost the drive once her children and husband left. She ignored the old bedrooms that used to belong to her aunt and uncle to reach the last one. Pan knocked on the door and waited for a response.
"Come in, Pan."
Slowly turning the knob, Pan pushed the door open to enter her grandmother's bedroom. When she was younger, the room had a much more vibrant feeling to it. But now it was dulled, a feeling of warmth was barely felt within the small room. Pan found her grandmother resting on a rocking chair, watching some old American cartoon of some mystery solving dog. Pan could kinda remember what the cartoon was about, but she never took to watching it. "Hey, Grandma."
Son Makima looked tired, extremely so. Those were the words Pan, her parents, and some of the others would say privately whenever they visited her. Never before has the Control Devil look so old, while visibly looking like she's in her mid 20s.
Makima gave a small smile as her granddaughter approached. "How was school?"
"It was tiresome, you know how school gets, Grandma." Pan responded.
"I never went to school, Pan."
"Yeah, but you probably know anyway."
"True." Makima agreed. "Did you do your homework yet?"
"I just got here, Grandma. I didn't have time to do my homework."
"Be sure to do it. Your parents will throw a fit."
"They always throw a fit whenever I don't do something. But I'm a busy gal, Grandma. Did you know that Grandpa H is gonna let me teach one of his classes today?" Pan said.
"Those poor students."
"Grandma!" Pan whined. She stopped when she felt her grandmother place a hand on her head, softly ruffling her hair.
"Knock 'em dead." Makima couldn't help but think of her husband when Pan gave the brightest smile possible. A smile that resembled the sun in every way possible. The little girl wrapped her up in a hug, and she returned it gratefully. "This girl is so bright, brighter than the rest of us. Can you see, darling. Can you see her light wherever you are?"
"Huh?" Goku turned around to face the outskirts of the Lookout. He thought he had heard or felt something but shrugged it off. He decided to focus on the problem at hand…the younger body he now possesses.
"WHAT?! You say they used those Dragon Balls?!" King Kai's voice echoed from above.
"T-that's right!" Dende responded.
"What even are these Black-Star Dragon Balls?" Goku asked.
Mr. Popo decided to explain. "Previously when Kami and the Demon King Piccolo were still one person, he attempted to create the Dragon Balls that we know and use now. However, due to his own inexperience and the evil inside of his heart, the first set he created was highly dangerous. Too dangerous to be used for the purpose he intended for them to be used. So, he sealed them away to never be used for any purpose. It was only after he split into Kami and King Piccolo did Kami create the second set, the ones we use today."
"But what makes these Black-Stars so dangerous?"
"Any wish made upon the Black-Star Dragon Balls will release a burst of unstable energy upon the planet. And in one year, after that wish is made, the planet the dragon was summoned on will explode." Mr. Popo revealed the truth.
"WHAT?! EXPLODE?!" Goku screamed. "Then let's hurry up and go find them! I'll go to Capsule Corp to get the Dragon Radar from Bulma-"
"It won't be that simple, Goku!" King Kai interrupted. "The Black-Star Dragon Balls don't scatter across the planet like the normal ones or Namekian ones! They'll scatter across the whole universe! A simple Dragon Radar won't be capable of finding them!"
Goku's eyes widened in shock. "No way…!"
"Listen, Goku! The only way to put your body back to normal and to undo the timer placed upon the planet is to gather the Black-Star Dragon Balls, bring them back to Earth, and make another wish on the Ultimate Shenron!"
"Alright then! If that's all I gotta do, then it should be no problem!" Goku's response surprised the Gods and assistant. "I love a challenge, and this sounds like it's right up my alley!"
"Goku." He looked back at Mr. Popo. "The Dragon Balls will have spread around the North, South, East, and West galaxies. Searching for them will be difficult."
"Yeah, but when have difficult problems ever stopped me before? For now, I'll just head home to figure things out." He leaped into the air, and noticed that his sense of balance was slightly off. "Huh…? Looks like I'll have to get used to this little body too. Alright, then! No time like the present!" Goku gave himself a boost and shot off into the distance before Dende or Popo could stop him.
"...And just like that, he's gone." Dende sighed.
"What a happy go-lucky guy, that one. Oh well, it's best to trust him on these matters. When it comes to Goku, he's always managed to pull through." King Kai said.
"Yes, yes he does."
After bidding goodbye to her aunt and grandmother, Pan took off towards Hercule City to finally attend her class, the one she'll be teaching! She spun happily through the air, thrilled beyond belief at how positive her luck was. As she arrived in the illustrious city, she basked in the glory to remember this moment. Nothing could possibly ruin this for her now-
CRASH!
Brows furrowed at the crashing sound. Pan stretched out her senses to see what was going on down below. Descending a bit further down, she could see people running and screaming for their lives. A rampaging creature that resembled some kind of giant snake. It hissed threateningly at the people below, its venom splashed all over the buildings, melting the human made constructs. Anyone getting caught in that would meet a gruesome fate as well.
"Really?! A Devil attack now?!" Pan groaned. "Fine, I'll just take care of this first before getting to the dojo! Hopefully this doesn't cause the class to get canceled!" Dashing forward, Pan jammed her foot into the snake's body to knock it away from the people.
The Snake Devil gathered itself, hissing threateningly at her. "HIISSSS! How dare…?!"
"Look, buddy, I have more important things going on than to deal with you today! So just buzz off or I'll have to kill you!" Pan ordered.
"Sssstupid child, do you not understand what I am?"
"A big lizard with an equally big mouth?"
Venom was vomited in her direction with lethal intent. Pan created a KI barrier to block the attack, allowing the venom to harmlessly slide to the ground. "Try again." It did multiple times just to be met with the same result. "Oh look at that? Can't hit me, can you?"
Snake Devil glared furiously at the child that dared to humiliate him in such a fashion. His eyes scanned over to see some people trying to run inside of a building. He smirked and opened his mouth at Pan.
"You're going to try this same trick again?" Pan prepared her barrier, only to realize her mistake in taking the situation too lightly. When the Snake Devil's head snapped over to the bystanders, a torrent of venom splashed over the group. "Oh no!" She wouldn't reach them in time to stop the venom from killing them.
"Hah!" Snake Devil enjoyed wiping that look off of her face. He was victorious in some aspect until they both noticed that the venom seemingly stopped in midair.
"HYAAH!" A burst of power evaporated the venom into nothing but steam, revealing the group of humans were still alive. Not only that, but the small child that was responsible for saving those people was glaring at the Devil. "Attacking innocent people isn't very nice."
Pan squinted her eyes at the kid. It surprised her to see some random kid with that much power, but he also looked oddly familiar.
"Isssss that right?!" The Devil hissed.
"Yup!" The kid replied.
"Then feel free to die with them!" The Devil raised his tail and brought it down on the kid. But the boy effortlessly stopped the attack with just one hand. He gripped the appendage with both hands and flew into the sky, dragging the snake with him. The boy started spinning at extreme speeds, almost creating a mini tornado with his power. "HYAH!" He threw the snake far into the distance, then unleashed a blast of energy that obliterated the Devil instantly. "There. Easy peasy."
Pan blinked owlishly at what she just witnessed. As the boy floated towards her, she slowly pointed at him. "H-how did you just do that, kid?!"
He tilted his head. "Do you really not recognize me?"
She blinked, finding his face scarily familiar. "W-well…you do look like someone I remember."
"Duh! Of course, I do! I'm your Grandpa Goku, Pan!" Goku smiled, not noticing the distress he was causing his granddaughter.
Pan blinked.
Then blinked a second time.
A third time.
A fourth time.
A fifth time.
Then she looked him up and down.
"EEEEEEEEHHHHHHHHHH?!"
Chapter End
NOTE: Goku's back and is ready for another adventure! I hope you guys enjoyed Pan and the girls in this. As you can see, I've made a pretty drastic change to Bulla's character. I never liked how GT handled her or how she and Pan just never interacted...at all. She's still a spoiled princess with a lot of pride. I wonder where she got that from.
I hope you guys will like Hina, since she is an oc character here. You don't have to worry about her hogging spotlight from the pre-existing characters.
Pan also has some changes made to her, since she's one of the central characters of the story. She won the 28th and 29th tournaments, making her champion. Hercule bluffed his way through the first lost, then retired after losing to her a second time. He's also getting too old to keep being the world champ, but it doesn't ruin him in the eyes of his fans obviously.
Uub is such a funny character. Toei had no idea what to do with him, so they got rid of him as soon as the show started. Then brings him back after Baby already took over the planet just for him to accomplish nothing. I will be improving his image in this fanfiction. You'll see him again much sooner.
Next chapter, Goku reunites with Makima and learns about the things he's missed these last five years. While also informing them that the world has one year left before exploding.
Have a great day!
