Summer
The most simple things can bring the most happiness.

There have been a handful of times in Diora's life that she truly felt content, happy even. Most of them took place in Hogwarts. Yet the summer at the end of her 6th year would turn out to be the most memorable one for her yet.
Thanks to her growing friendship with Lily Evans, through her she learned about the muggle world – a world she had always been curious about but not allowed to explore until the end of her school year.
Due to her upbringing, her parents were not, for a lack of a better word, accepting of her interests and much less befriending muggle-borns. Had it not been for her brother, Helios, her parents would have been blissfully unaware of her friendship with Lily. For this reason alone she would meet up with her at King's Cross whenever they met up.
Though she always enjoyed meeting up with Lily for her muggle adventures, the one who's company Diora enjoyed the most was that of Sirius Black.
Of course Sirius family name surpassed him and though he was welcomed to visit the Averys' home, the opportunity wasn't appropriate yet. Though it was not public knowledge, Sirius no longer lived with his family and has since moved in with the Potters. The last thing she wanted was her mother to interrogate Sirius on why he was disowned.
Unlike Lily who took her out into the world of muggles, Diora and Sirius stayed within their own Wizarding world. Their outings mostly consisted visiting a park or another. Strolling through the coast of Cornwall and enjoying each other's company. Twice she was invited for dinner at the Potters' which she was happy to attend, making her feel as if she were already a part of their family.
It was tiny moments like these that made her summer magical despite the intrusion of Helio's into her life more than usual. Unlike her — or was it more in the lines of unlike them — her brother upheld the family beliefs, so it was not really all that surprising that he was watching her. Being the first born and male heir, he was keen on upholding a standard befitting their family. So while her home life was subpar, these glittering moments with her favorite people made up what she did not have at home.
So when Lily suggested a group outing to Cornwall that involved a picnic and a kite, Diora instantly jumped at the idea. Diora knew that it was a bit silly getting excited over a muggle artifact but Lily had mentioned it a couple of times while in school and she was intrigued by it since. Surely, she should be excited about using a kite since muggles found them entertaining. How? She wasn't sure but her logical side persisted. There must be something about a strange material that's tethered to a thread that muggles find to be fun and Diora wanted to find out what that was.
She was not disappointed when she finally found out.
"Okay, hold the handle firmly and don't let it go," Sirius instructed as he handed over the handle to her, the wind whipping his shoulder length dark hair around his head.
"If it flies away, we can just bring it back," Diora responded as she took the handle.
Sirius softly chuckled at her response, "that would defeat the purpose of using a kite."
Lily had given them a crash course on how to handle the kite, hold the silly-looking handle and throw the kite up into the air and allow the strong winds to pick it up. Once it was in the air, they would be able to guide it with the string. Because most of the group had never used a kite, everyone had a turn with it.
Diora was the last one in line by choice.
Thankfully, she wore her blonde hair in a long braid, so the strong ocean wind wasn't bothering her. Feeling the reel turning, Diora looked up with a wide smile as the kite climbed higher and higher until the string couldn't go any more.
"Oh, I can see why muggles like them!" She laughed as she stepped back, glancing over Sirius who looked up at the flying toy.
"Mhmm, I can see why you would too," he grinned.
"Hey, it's the simple things that make life worthwhile," she retorted as she returned her gaze back up to the kite.
