Chapter 12- Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
New York City, Chikara Dojo
"Where do you think their main base would be?" Colleen asked Danny as she, Claire, Ward and Danny himself sat around the table, Danny looking at the map of New York City once more, with all the symbols that he'd made up on it while tracking different bases of The Hand.
"Huh? So you managed to find them here and there just by making these drawings?" Ward asked, Danny nodding. "Not sure whether to be impressed or surprised by something like this."
"We've run out of any symbols though, at least I think we have", Claire commented, looking at Danny with a sigh. "One Dragon, that serpent thing, and then the Dragon tattoo on your own chest, what else can we do to track a base of theirs?"
"Would say the old-fashioned way but we don't have time for any of that", Colleen noted grimly. "We need to find their main base, and we need to do it right now."
Danny picked up Claire's pen which was on the table, simply looking at each point once more, letting his gaze on all of them linger for a few seconds each.
His mind wandered, and he closed his eyes, meditating and concentrating, before moving the pen to the map without even opening his eyes, his mind seeming to give him the image in his head, his hand simply running the pen over the map to make that image upon it, slowly and carefully.
Colleen, Claire and Ward looked over, seeing Danny make the drawing. Ward then started to say. "Are you actually drawing or just scrib-"
He stopped when he saw that Danny had made a symbol, both Colleen and Claire looking at too, while Danny's hand paused, then shook on its own, as if fearful of what had been created.
The pen dropped from his hand, hitting the table with a little 'clatter' sound, as Danny opened his eyes, and then stared at the symbol, realizing that the shaking of his hand after finishing drawing the symbol was not unfounded at all, for something horrifying had been made by him, and for reasons he could not consciously think of, he knew that this made sense.
Danny, Colleen, Claire and Ward stared at the symbol of a Pentagram that Danny had drawn on the map of New York City.
After a few seconds of silence, Danny finally spoke in utter horror, shock and even revulsion.
"How can they be so stupid?!"
Iron Fist intro plays and is shown, displaying a shadowed figure doing martial arts with a dark-greenish background, and it ends with the title screen.
New York City, Chikara Dojo
Danny continued staring at the Pentagram in horror, as Ward asked. "What the hell is that?"
"Whatever The Hand are doing, it relates to a Demon of some sort", Danny muttered, as Colleen and Claire felt their breaths taken away.
Ward first looked between Danny and the map in disbelief, then smirked, and let out a chuckle. "A Demon?" He chuckled again. "Okay, I think we've stepped into crazy town now!"
"Yeah, this is getting too much for even me", Claire had to say, and considering all her experiences with the weird, this said something. Things had been weird since the day she'd found Matt lying in that dumpster, wounded badly.
But Danny coming into her life had taken it to an entirely new level.
"We live in a world where the incident has happened", Colleen pointed out in reply, as both of them tried to open their mouths to say something, then stopped, realizing she'd a point, while Colleen looked at Ward and added. "Plus, your father, he died and came back to life, remember?"
Ward groaned, acknowledging her point with a nod. "As hard as it is to believe, now I'm wishing for the days when that was the strangest thing I experienced in my life."
Colleen then looked at Danny, and asked grimly out of curiosity, especially since it'd have importance to their mission. "What kind of Demon do you think they're related to?"
"I don't know", Danny confessed while shaking his head. "I thought they told us everything there is to know about The Hand back in K'un-Lun, but nothing about any Demon was mentioned." He remembered the feeling he'd gotten from Bakuto as well as Madame Gao. "But it makes sense, that evil chi I felt from both Bakuto and Gao, it has to be Demonic chi!"
Claire groaned. "How many more chis are we gonna deal with?" She looked at how well the Pentagram had been drawn and asked her next question. "And really, how did you even make that with your eyes closed and figured out that this had to be it."
Danny shrugged. "Astrology, herpetology, and symbology were some of the only hobbies I could have back in K'un-Lun, outside of fighting that is."
"Quite impressive", Colleen noted, as Danny picked up Claire's pen once more, and used it to mark the center of the Pentagram, looking at that spot grimly, but with determination in his eyes.
"This is where they all are", Danny declared before putting the pen down and standing back up. "And this is where we must go to stop them all."
He turned to Colleen. "Let's go then."
Colleen smiled, and leaned forwards, the two sharing a quick kiss, as Claire commented. "Whoa! I knew this would happen, but I missed the first kiss?"
They both chuckled together, as Colleen walked off and grasped the hilt of her katana, when Ward suddenly said. "I think I can help!"
"Ward", Danny started. "Look, I know you are sincere about making amends, but you can't just fight these-"
"Not like that", Ward shook his head, as the other three looked at him curiously. "These people made a deal with my dad, didn't they? Which means my dad would have made tech for them. This portal machine you talked about would be Rand too."
Danny realized what he was trying to say. "Go on."
"So, most likely this main base, while it has guards all over, it would also have cameras, which would have been made by the company", Ward finally got to the point, the other three sharing looks. "If they are shut off, you two just got to do your thing by beating up the bad guys, and then these two main leaders or whatever."
"Not a bad plan at all", Colleen acknowledged Ward's idea. "So I'm guessing you can shut those cameras down?"
"Not me", Ward said with a little smirk. "But I know just the guy who can do it."
"No!" Kyle said in fear while shaking his head. "I'm done with everything, sir died, and that's the end of it."
"Listen, Kyle!" Ward said, grasping the young tech expert's shoulders. "I know you're scared, even I am, but come on! Because of these people, you'd to stay with Harold almost 24/7, do tech work for him, serve him, you'd no life at all."
Kyle stammered. "But…but….b-but…..the penthouse was comfortable!"
"The man is dead, no need to sugarcoat it", Ward assured him, before saying. "Besides, with Harold dead, you'd be a lose end too, they'll come after you."
Kyle actually jumped and shook in fear. "They will?"
"Yes", Ward nodded grimly. "And because of that, you need to help me."
"But then wouldn't they kill me either way?"
"I know the one person who can take them down, well, two actually", Ward said with a shrug. "And with your help, they can accomplish it."
"R-really?" Kyle asked, and Ward gave him a smile.
"Really."
"All right, I'll do it!" Kyle finally gave in.
"You get a real job with us, and the best starting salary."
"Actually, all that won't be necessary", Kyle assured Ward, to his surprise, and the next thing he said was even more surprising. "Just pay for my ice cream every time I buy it and we'll be good."
Danny and Colleen stood in front of the final base they'd found, the main one, which seemed to be a one-floored but large house, with cameras, and both knew that guards were inside.
"So, ready to go?" Danny asked Colleen, flexing his muscles a little.
"Yeah, let's end this", Colleen declared.
Chikara Dojo
Ward and Claire sat behind Kyle, who was typing commands onto his laptop, and then smirked. "I'm in."
"Good", Ward commented.
Danny and Colleen saw the camera pointed outwards lower itself, clearly dying down, the former realizing. "They did it."
The guy sitting in front of the camera monitors looked at all the static that was coming on the monitors instead of the views, and tapped his earpiece. "All cameras are down."
Danny and Colleen walked forth, seeing a guy arriving to try and fix this specific camera, but without even breaking stride, Danny grasped him in a chokehold while walking until he was knocked out.
Then Danny dropped him as they reached the door, and Danny kicked it open, knowing it was heard all over the base.
Months ago, K'un-Lun
Danny was in the arena where he would finally face an opponent of his, and he was just waiting, flexing his muscles a little.
"I imagine you taught him something unexpected, Master Chen", Lei Kung noted to Chen, as Danny's opponent would be a student of his.
"I lack an arm, Master Lei Kung", Chen pointed out with a shrug. "So of course, I teach my students to turn their weakness into their greatest strength."
And then, from the other side of the arena, Chen's student walked out- a tall and muscular man named Chu, who towered over Danny.
But something they all noticed was that he was walking funny.
"Why does he walk like that?" Khan inquired.
"As I said, I turned their weakness into their greatest strength", Chen reminded them of what he'd said earlier.
"Chu", Danny greeted the man, who nodded.
"Danny."
They shared a little bow, and Chu actually staggered forwards a little, to the surprise of the rest, Davos just scoffing, before Chu straightened himself.
After that, Lei Kung and Chen shared a look, then said together. "Begin!"
Chu chuckled, looking at Danny, and then an aura of human chi erupted out of him, surprising Danny at just how much it was.
"Danny, tell me, what do you think of my stumbling technique?"
Danny was confused. "Huh?"
Suddenly, Chu started stumbling at a very high speed, all around Danny, nearly appearing as a blur to him, and most others.
Danny constantly moved his eyes, trying to track him. "Focus Danny, you've got to find this guy."
Slowly, his eyes started to make out Chu's stumbling all around him, and then Chu suddenly charged at him with a chop, but Danny raised his elbow in time to block, but Chu smirked.
"Have at it!"
And then he threw five strong punches right at Danny's abdomen at very quick speed, which made him gasp as he was sent flying off, clutching his abdomen. At a very high speed, Chu then leapt up near the falling Danny, and elbowed him hard, sending him crashing to the ground, before landing himself.
Danny groaned, noting that he was getting a really bad smell from Chu.
Chu chuckled. "Had enough?"
Danny opened his eyes. "Of course not!" He shot up, and Chu actually stumbled back awkwardly. "This game is just getting started."
With that, he charged Chu, throwing punch after punch, while Chu stumbled here and there, dodging each punch easily, and stumbling around Danny.
"Would you just stop jiggling?" Danny asked, throwing another punch that Chu dodged.
Chu then threw a punch but Danny used his forearm to deflect in time when Chu stumbled behind him at quick speed and threw a chop. Danny again raised his arms to block, but Chu punched his face hard, and he was sent stumbling back, spitting out blood.
With that, Chu started punching his face repeatedly, keeping him on the backfoot. Danny staggered back, wiped his lips, and charged once more.
And then, he threw punches, Chu just stumbling to dodge them.
The Masters all watched the fight in anticipation, noting Chu's impressive ability, wondering what Danny would do.
"Come on Danny", Lei Kung said to himself.
"Stop jiggling!" Danny said before throwing a really hard and fast punch that connected with Chu's jaw, and sent him flying off before crashing to the ground.
Chu lay on the ground, groaning, before suddenly, to Danny's shock, he just seemed to disappear.
And then, he appeared behind Danny all of a sudden. As Danny turned around, Chu kicked him really hard and he was sent flying off into a wall in the corner, shattering it, causing the viewers to get up in surprise, even the Masters.
"Impressive", Khan had to say regarding Chu.
Suddenly. Chu let out a burp, stumbled back, and fell down, before seating himself on the ground.
Lei Kung raised an eyebrow at Chen. "Is he a…."
"Yes", Chen confirmed with a nod. "Chu drinks a lot. But like I said, the weakness of my students has been turned into their strength by me."
"So does that mean he gains more power by drinking?" Feng inquired, Chen nodding at that.
"Yes, yes he does. And it makes him unpredictable."
Chu let out a laugh and said. "I need another one!"
That was when the rubble that had seemingly crushed Danny burst, as Danny shot out of it at high speed, before flipping and landing before Chu, flexing his muscles and moving his feet.
"Now that was close, I could have been killed or badly wounded if I didn't have my guard up", Danny commented to Chu with a smirk. "One dumb mistake and it's the end, right?"
"Yeah", Chu noted. "Pretty much."
"You know, this whole fighting deal?" Danny asked, Chu nodding. "I'm starting to like it."
With that, he started chuckling, and Chu laughed with him.
Danny added. "And I'm guessing you are too."
"No point playing if it is not for keeps", Chu said with a shrug.
"Well, seems like you and I have something in common."
The Masters shared looks, having smiles on their faces at the fact that the two opponents were sharing banter. Respecting opponents was very important, as it showed humility.
Only opponents who were pure evil deserved no respect at all.
Chu laughed, before having a hiccup and stumbling back, and putting his hands over his mouth, Danny and the rest watching him strangely.
Then, Chu recovered, wiped his mouth, and prepared to fight. Suddenly, he took out a flask. "Now this here is one of the strongest drinks ever made."
In front of Danny, he used his teeth to undo its cap, then gulped all of it down right in one go, to the surprise of all masters but Chen.
"Even if he gains power by drinking, will he be able to stand and fight now?" Hao inquired in complete shock.
"You will see", Chen said with a chuckle.
Then, suddenly, Chu's human chi burst as an aura, and he grunted, his muscles seeming to expand, as Danny prepared himself.
Then suddenly, the aura dissipated, Chu staggered back while putting a hand over his mouth, then ran to the edge of the arena, turning around and throwing up, as groans were heard all over, Danny just looking at Chu's back strangely.
Then, when he was done, Chu stood up and took a fighting stance, his body glowing with chi as he held out his palms, and an orb of chi was summoned in between them.
After that, the two ran to the side, facing each other, before stopping as Chu raised his foot and slammed it to the ground, cracking it, and hurled his orb right at Danny.
At that moment, Danny leapt in the air and aimed his fingers at the orb as if they were a gun, and a blast of chi shot out of his fingers, colliding with the orb. The two fighters' chis clashed, trying to fight, before both dissipated.
With that, both of them charged each other, and started throwing many rapid punches at each other's faces, which connected as both were wounded on the face.
Then, Chu threw a hard uppercut which sent Danny flying back, but he planted his feet on the ground, managing to steady himself.
Using the opportunity, Chu summoned another orb, and then raised his palms over his head, the orb increasing in size, before Chu hurled it at Danny.
Danny aimed his fingers at the orb, and this time, fired two medium-sized but powerful blasts of chi. They collided with Chu's orb, and broke through it, making a way on the other side as they made for Chu, who gasped.
The orb was still moving though, and it hit Danny, while the two blasts from his fingers hit Chu, explosions of chi occurring on both sides as the Masters got up once more, looking at the fight interestingly.
When the smoke dissipated, they were both gone. However, another master named Yan pointed up, and they all looked up to see the two fighters flipping in the air, the upper portions of their robes gone, before they landed on the ground, and the rest noticed they looked quite wounded. Even Davos was interested now.
"I'm guessing you used a lot of juice in that double shot, and then my orb collided with you", Chu noted, the two of them panting. "You can swing a little more of that chi, but that's it, right?"
Danny smirked. "Pretty much helpless."
Chu told him. "I'm so out of it I can barely lift my arm."
And with that, both of them started laughing together. After about a minute of laughing, Chu finally said. "I know there's a way we can end this."
Danny shrugged. "I'm all ears."
Chu revealed just what. "A knife's edge death fight."
Danny narrowed his eyes. "A knife's edge death fight?"
Chu then took out two long knives, before walking forth, and when he was near Danny, he knelt on the ground, and stabbed one knife onto it. After that, he walked back to his original position and stabbed the other knife onto the ground too.
Then, he looked at Danny. "Take off your shoes and put your foot in front of the knife." With that, he threw his shoes off, and went ahead of where the knife on his side was planted, holding out one knee.
Danny looked at him for a few seconds, then threw off his shoes as well. Before walking ahead of the knife on his side and holding out one knee.
Their knees touched each other, while the back of their foot touched the planted knives, as everyone watched in anticipation.
With that, the two looked at each other for a few seconds, then Danny threw a punch to Chu's chest, who threw one to Danny's face.
Then, the two kept throwing punches, getting the other one on the chest or face, as at one point, Danny dodged a punch and struck Chu's face, then Chu blocked a punch and struck Danny so hard the back of his foot was cut into by the knife and bled.
Then Danny punched Chu many times in the abdomen as the back of his own foot was cut into by the knife too, and bled.
And with that, the two continued punching each other happily, seeming to be in a stalemate for a good few minutes as the back of their feet were bleeding.
At one point, Danny gave an uppercut, and Chu responded by punching the top of his head, before punching Danny as he felt the back of his foot being cut into deeper.
Then, Chu lunged at Danny with a powerful headbutt, only for Danny to lunge back with one of his own. And then, their heads clashed against each other
For a few seconds, they were just in the same position for a few seconds. Then, Chu stumbled, and crashed to the side.
Danny staggered forth, his foot bleeding, as Chu tried to get up, then fell down, chuckling, Danny joining him.
"Your student was quite impressive", Lei Kung said to Chen genuinely.
"As was yours", Chen said in reply, the two sharing a smile.
Danny smiled at Chu and said. "Chu…I look forward to fighting you again one day."
Chu nodded. "As do I, Danny." He added. "Especially once you become the Iron Fist."
Danny smiled happily, before kneeling and putting a hand on Chu's shoulder. "You'd have made a great Iron Fist too."
Present day, New York City, Chikara Dojo
Ward sat with his back to the wall, Claire doing the same thing, as Kyle kept the cameras down.
"I'm guessing it has begun now", Ward commented.
"Yeah, its time", Claire noted.
"At least they're doing something right", Ward said with a sigh, looking down. "Unlike me."
"Well, you did bring in that guy", Claire pointed out while gesturing to Kyle from where she was. "And his computer skills helped this time."
"Yeah, but this doesn't make up for anything", Ward muttered, looking down again as he shook his head. "It doesn't change anything. I was neck deep in it all, they used the company to deal in heroin! And bought buildings to use as their bases, this is just the tip of the iceberg!" Ward grasped his head. "What have I done?! I've messed up everything, everything!" He looked ahead. "I just wanted to be a good businessman, the way I'd seen my father and Wendell Rand be." He shook his head once more while taking a deep breath. "I just ended up being a little pawn in the games played by Harold and The Hand. They could have been stopped a long time ago if I hadn't been playing ball."
Claire simply listened to what he was saying, nodding as she processed it, before giving him a look. "Look, you messed up, there is no sugarcoating it, you really messed up."
"I know", Ward groaned.
"But The Hand are dangerous", Claire pointed out. "If you hadn't done it, most likely Joy would have been coerced already."
Ward tried to open his mouth to argue but she held up her hand. "I'm not saying you didn't do anything wrong, you did a lot of wrong yourself. But its not only you, and really, Harold and The Hand did the most damage."
"Still", Ward sighed. "I should have had the courage to do something sooner. Any help I've given here, it doesn't make up for anything. Nothing has changed."
"So, you wanna change things?" Claire asked, Ward nodding. "Then start changing things, one good deed is not changing things. You got to do good consistently from now on, every day."
"And keep doing it", Ward muttered, having resolve on his face. "Because I got to do more."
Claire smiled, putting a hand to his shoulder. "Yeah, you do. But I'll say this- you're off to a really great start."
The two shared a smile at that before looking ahead again.
The room was cloaked in shadows, save for the faint glow of the city lights that filtered through the tall windows, casting a dim, flickering pattern across the walls. Joy Meachum sat on the edge of her bed, her posture stiff, shoulders tense. Her eyes, glassy with unshed tears, were locked on a framed photo she clutched tightly in her hands—a picture of her father, Harold Meachum, smiling brightly, standing between a younger Joy and Ward. It was from happier times, before the darkness and secrets that now threatened to swallow everything she thought she knew.
Her mind raced, fragments of the last few hours playing on a loop in her head—her father's lifeless body, his final, desperate attempt to reach out to her, Danny's bloodstained hands, Ward's pleading, guilt-ridden face.
The memory of Harold's last words echoed in her mind.
"Joy..."
His voice, broken and frail, seemed to weave through her thoughts, cutting through the silence of her room. He had died with her name on his lips, reaching out to her, needing her, and she hadn't been able to do anything to save him. It was all taken away from her, just as she had finally gotten him back.
She squeezed the photo frame tighter, her knuckles turning white as the anger inside her built, turning her sorrow into something sharper, harder. Her thoughts turned to Danny—Danny Rand, the so-called friend of her father. He was supposed to have helped them against the organization that had tormented their family. Instead, he had been hiding things from her, keeping secrets, lying about his real intentions. He had come into their lives promising friendship and hope, but he had brought nothing but chaos.
Then there was Ward, her brother, her own flesh and blood. He had hidden the truth about their father's survival, working behind her back, keeping her in the dark. She had trusted him to be her partner, her ally, but he had chosen to deceive her, to shield her from the truth in the name of protection. Now, in her mind, his guilt was plain to see, and he had even admitted it. All the years of loyalty meant nothing when confronted with his betrayal.
Her grip tightened even further, her hands shaking. A sharp crack broke the silence as the glass of the picture frame splintered under the pressure of her grasp, a spiderweb of fractures spreading across the image of her father's smiling face. A shard cut into her palm, but she barely flinched, her focus wholly consumed by the anger coursing through her veins.
They took him from me. They both took him from me. The thought ran through her mind, over and over again, a vicious mantra that fueled the fire inside her. They were the reason her father was gone. They were the ones who had turned his final moments into a scene of violence and horror. She had lost everything, again, because of them.
Joy's eyes, dark with determination, drifted back to the fractured image of Harold, his face still visible through the jagged lines. She had tried to believe in Danny, to find some common ground with Ward, but they had betrayed her trust, destroyed any hope she had left.
I won't let them get away with this. The thought solidified in her mind like iron, the decision that she had been teetering on the edge of for so long finally taking root. She would not mourn in silence, would not be the victim anymore. If Danny and Ward had taken everything from her, then she would take it back. She would make them pay, she would ensure that they felt the same pain she did, that they knew what it meant to lose.
With one final look at the photo, she stood abruptly, tossing the shattered frame onto her nightstand with a clatter. Blood welled from the small cut on her palm, but she ignored it, her jaw set, her expression hardening into cold resolve.
In the dim light of her room, Joy Meachum's grief twisted into something darker, something unyielding. She turned toward the window, staring out into the city, her mind already plotting her next move.
There was no going back now. From this moment on, she would be their enemy.
Danny and Colleen were making their way through the base, fighting the operatives and Ninjas who tried to stop them.
One Ninja leapt at Colleen who backed to avoid when another kicked her back towards him from behind, but she ducked to avoid his swing and decked his abdomen before decking his face, knocking him out.
Another one flipped at her and kicked but she grabbed his foot and headbutted him, dazing him, after which she threw him off. Another threw a punch but she ducked while getting to his other side, and as one more tried to punch, she blocked and knocked him out.
The one she'd avoided before tried to attack from behind but she elbowed him out. As another struck, she grasped his arm and threw him to the ground, before kicking another away as he rolled to the ground.
As one more charged her, she grasped him by the shoulder and threw him down too. Then she blocked another one's blow and kicked him twice, sending him to his knees, and kneed his face, knocking him down. He tried to get up but she kicked his face, knocking him out.
As another threw a punch, she caught it and punched his abdomen, then spun him around and threw him into the wall where he crashed.
Danny deflected a kick and grasping the operative's arm, struck his abdomen, then spinning, grabbed his head and flipped him to the ground. As another attacked, Danny ducked to dodge, then punched his face before spin-kicking him out. After that, he backed to avoid another one's strike while grabbing his hand and kicking one more away, before kicking another away behind him, and threw the guy down.
As another punched, Danny deflected, grabbed his wrist and twisted, before smacking his face as he was knocked out. Then he turned around as another one took out a knife, and he dodged it thrice, before kicking him away into a wall.
Colleen took out her katana as some operatives with swords came at her. She thrust towards one, who barely dodged, before she spun, clashing with the other ones. She blocked one and sliced him down, before blocking another, grasping him, and throwing him into one more.
After that, she blocked some strikes while backing before one kicked her back, and then she ducked to avoid the swing of one from behind her while striking at his feet with the hilt, making him fall down.
As another leapt at her, she blocked and sliced him down before blocking another one's swing and pushing him back, then spinning and slicing another one down.
After that, she knelt while blocking one more swing, before swinging up, cutting that one down, and as another charged from behind, she twirled her own and thrust it backwards, stabbing his side as he gasped while she pulled out, letting him fall down.
Then she blocked another's blow before spinning and stabbing into his side too, before pulling down and letting him fall. One more attacked her with dual knives but she blocked before moving her sword up and cutting his hands with the blade, before spinning and slicing him down.
The two then walked forth, finding a door, and Colleen kicked it open. All they saw was a large area, usually meant for sitting on the ground or lying down in quarters such as this.
Right now, Madame Gao and Bakuto stood there, the former just smirking, her hand on her stick, while the latter held up his own sword.
Danny and Colleen glared at them.
Months ago, K'un-Lun
Danny faced off against Bao, a student of Master Khan.
"I look forward to seeing what you've taught Bao, Master Khan", Lei Kung commented, Khan just nodding with a smirk.
"Just watch and find out", Khan shrugged.
Then, Lei Kung and Khan said together. "Begin!"
"Let us fight with honor", Danny said to Bao, who threw two quick kicks that Danny blocked, before blocking a strike, a spin-strike, then another strike, and he leaned back to avoid a punch, blocked the next punch, then leaned back to avoid one more punch.
After that, he kicked Bao, then struck as Bao blocked, before Danny kneed him as he was sent back. Bao smirked, then did a double spin-kick which Danny avoided by ducking, after which Bao threw a punch, which Danny blocked, and then he dodged another, before being sent back by a kick.
Bao tried to stomp his foot in Danny's direction but Danny barely avoided as the ground was crushed, and Bao kicked some rubble in Danny's direction which he dodged.
"He is quite relentless", Hao noted, looking at Khan.
Bao spun and tried to elbow Danny twice, who blocked, before blocking another strike, and two kicks, and then he blocked another strike and ducked to avoid a kick, and dodged one more punch by side-stepping before smacking Bao's face as he was sent back.
Bao then glared at Danny before smirking. "Honor, huh?"
He raised his hand, and a blast of light entered Danny's eyes, making him gasp as he shut his eyes, staggering back, blinded.
"What is that?" Chen inquired in surprise, the masters looking amongst each other.
"An unconventional technique", Khan simply said in response, as Lei Kung narrowed his eyes at him.
Bao struck twice as Danny barely blocked without seeing once, and dodged another time, before blocking again, grabbing Bao's hand. As his vision returned, Bao blasted the light using his chi again right into Danny's eyes, making him stagger back.
Everything became blurry to Danny, before Bao punched his face, staggering him back, while Bao chuckled. Danny's nose was bleeding.
"Your student does not fight with honor!" Feng said angrily to Khan. "He blinds his opponent!"
"And would enemies of ours like The Hand not try to do the same?" Khan asked back in reply. "Teaching to fight with honor is meaningless when it is the enemy they will fight one day."
Danny was kicked on the chest, before Bao threw a strike that he dodged, and then he blocked one before trying to elbow, his vision returning, only for Bao to blast the light in his eyes once more, and then he threw Danny down before stomping his foot upon his chest.
Danny lifted his foot up and kicked Bao away, throwing him down. Both got up, glaring at each other at the same time while Danny's vision returned. Danny threw a kick that Bao blocked, and then he blocked a strike before striking Danny who blocked while spinning, getting his arms in a hold, as he also avoided being stomped by Bao's feet, before Bao struck his knee and he went down.
Then, Bao lifted his foot, and the light shone from that too, into Danny's eyes, blinding him. Then Bao smacked Danny's head before slamming it to the ground, and then lifted Danny up before kicking him to the side.
As Danny groaned, Bao took his fighting stance, while Danny got up, his vision returning, and he ducked to avoid two punches from Bao, before blocking a punch, only for Bao to blast the light in his eyes from the other hand, after which Bao grabbed Danny and lowered him to the ground, near his foot, and blasted the light in his eyes again, then kneed his face while pushing him off.
Then he grabbed Danny and tossed him away onto the ground.
Khan smirked, while Lei Kung looked at him.
"Being an enemy of the light is not an advisable way to battle, Master Khan."
Danny got up, groaning, his vision returning, before he kicked Bao but was blocked, then struck at Bao twice, who blocked both times, then he blocked two blows, and as Bao tried to blast the light in his eyes, Danny turned his head away, then grasped his wrist, and tried to strike but Bao blocked and shone the light again but Danny turned his head to avoid.
After that, he spun Bao, and elbowed his chest twice, throwing him off. Then he kicked Bao away as he staggered. Bao quickly shone his light as Danny barely turned to avoid, then blocked a strike and a kick, and as Bao tried to use the foot to shine his light, Danny just threw him off to the ground.
As Bao sat up, Danny took off the belt curl of his robe. Bao tried to blast the light in his eyes but Danny struck his fingers with the belt curl while passing human chi through it, making Bao lower his hand in pain.
"Honor", Danny smirked, holding the belt, as Bao got up, glaring angrily.
Bao then tried to strike as Danny dodged and struck him on the face with the belt curl, and he grasped his face in pain. Danny held his belt curl, as Bao recovered and threw a spin kick that Danny easily dodged.
As Bao punched, Danny used the belt curl to wrap his fist while side-stepping, and he tried to use his other fist but Danny wrapped it too, turning his head away to avoid the light blast, and wrapped both of Bao's hands tightly with his belt curl before tossing him towards a pillar, Bao's fingers crashing against it and breaking, making him scream in pain as the Masters watched in anticipation.
Lei Kung smiled. "Good thinking, Danny."
Khan just shrugged and scoffed, while Danny spun and wrapped the belt curl around Bao's throat, and lifting him up, slammed him to the ground, knocking him out at last.
The Masters smiled in approval, even Khan, but it was strained. Lei Kung noted the slight change in his expression.
Something was off about this. He'd taught Bao a very unconventional and even dishonorable move, and while they could get his justification, they were supposed to teach honor and humility to their students alongside skill and strategy, four qualities that Danny had displayed perfectly.
Present Day
Danny and Colleen marched forwards, towards Gao and Bakuto respectively.
"Now, I shall punish you for your disobedience, Colleen", Bakuto said as he and Colleen began to circle each other, the former holding up a dao sword, while Colleen held up her katana. "After everything I've done for you, this is how you repay your sensei?"
Colleen snarled. "You just tried to brainwash me into your cult, and I won't let that happen."
Bakuto almost looked hurt. "Saying such harsh words about us after everything we want to do for the world?" He shook his head before the two faced off once more. "This shall be your end."
"Come for revenge, Iron Fist?" Madame Gao taunted Danny with her usual smirk. "Because I heard anger does not suit the protector of K'un-Lun."
Danny just looked at her. "I'm not here for revenge." As much as he wanted to rip her apart for the deaths of his parents, it would not bring them back, and it would not change anything at all. "I'm here to end your schemes."
"I wonder, if it is only your words that are wise, or your skills as well", Gao noted, the two preparing to fight.
At the same time, Colleen and Bakuto charged each other, katana and dao sword clashing, as Colleen backed to avoid a swing and ducked to avoid another. She blocked a few more barely, gritting her teeth, not realizing that Bakuto knew this fighting style as well.
Bakuto spun away and then she tried to strike a few times as he blocked, then thrust forwards, Colleen barely avoiding and blocking it, before getting onto his other side as they clashed once more. Colleen got onto Bakuto's other side again and tried to slice at his feet but he flipped to avoid, before striking at Colleen, and even though she blocked, the strength sent her staggering back, while he flipped near her and they clashed once more.
Bakuto pushed Colleen back, then spun and elbowed her chest twice, before spinning and kicking her face as she went down.
He leapt at her with dao sword raised but she rolled away to avoid in time and got up, and flipped to avoid a swing of his, barely saving herself. Then she straightened herself as Bakuto smirked and swung at her, Colleen barely blocking.
She continued to block more swings, pushed to her limit, and at one point, Bakuto spun and gave her katana a strong downwards strike which lowered it, and then he almost took her head off with his next swing but she ducked to avoid.
Then she raised her katana, blocking the next few strikes before Bakuto kicked her away. Colleen staggered back, going down on her knees, gasping in pain.
Bakuto twirled his dao sword and held out his hand. "After I slay you, I shall slay your students as well, to punish them for your actions. And once that is done, their blood shall be drained too, like those children."
In this moment, Colleen did not see any sign of the sensei who'd trained her and seemingly loved her, just a monster who needed to be put down.
Colleen gritted her teeth as she got up, ready to face him again, while Bakuto thrust forwards but Colleen leaned sideways to avoid, and raised her katana as Bakuto struck in her direction anyways, the clash making her stagger back.
Bakuto then leapt at her and she swung, he flipped in the air to avoid, then landed and clashed with her. She barely blocked his swings before trying to swing as he easily spun and dodged.
Then they clashed, Colleen wanting to protect her students from the same fate as those children, the entire reason she'd turned against The Hand.
As she swung, Bakuto sliced at her thigh, making her kneel in pain, and then tried to swing at her as she blocked with her katana.
He slowly pushed back, lowering her sword while smirking at her.
"You never had a chance, and now, neither do your students."
Colleen glared at him, grunting, wanting to protect them all from him, and defeat him to repent for ever having been part of The Hand.
She needed to win, and for that, she had to be one with her weapon.
At that moment, her katana suddenly started glowing, which Bakuto noticed briefly just as Colleen pushed back and getting up, leapt and kicked him with both feet, sending him falling to the ground.
Meanwhile, Danny charged his Iron Fist and rushed Madame Gao, who side-stepped to avoid and struck his back with her stick, making him gasp as he went down.
"You are weak", Madame Gao said. "Not driven, for you do not truly know what you want."
Danny spun around and threw a kick that she dodged, before throwing some punches which she dodged too. "Is it to defeat us?" Gao dodged more strikes, then struck with her stick as Danny dodged, before she struck him with her chi enhanced kick as he was sent flying off. "Or is it to reconnect with your family and friends?"
Danny landed on the ground, then started running around while she continued. "Do you want to reclaim the business you said you don't want, or do you want to just be K'un-Lun's attack dog even when in New York City?"
Danny leapt at her, trying to strike with his Iron Fist as she dodged by side-stepping, before striking Danny's chest with her chi-enhanced palm as he was thrown back. He tried to punch again but she dodged and struck his abdomen with her stick, sending him sliding on the ground.
"Or do you want nothing at all, since you came here to protect your friends from us, yet you stay in a dojo with this woman you just met, and let a few failures discourage you from meeting with them?"
Danny leapt at her with a punch but she avoided, and then he tried to punch with the Iron Fist but she avoided again, before avoiding two more punches, then striking Danny's face as he was sent back.
Only, he threw a kick to her side. She raised her elbow to block but it still sent her staggering sideways, while Danny leapt and landed to the ground.
"Master Khan did not tell us just how truly weak you were, unworthy of the power you wield."
Danny's eyes widened as he felt his heart drop. "Master Khan?"
Gao chuckled. "You are the most foolish Iron Fist in existence! It never occurred to you that we sent men to fight you the day you came to this city?"
Danny looked horrified and shook his head. "No…no, Master Khan, he was in K'un-Lun, he'd never-"
"He has been following the teachings of The Hand for a long time, and knows it is us who speak the truth- the power within K'un-Lun must be used to rule the world, and change it", Madame Gao declared. "But the greedy fools just want to keep it amongst themselves."
Danny started. "But he….he advised me and Davos, even when we were not his students, he guided us at times, and was pleased by our achievements."
"All a backup plan if a student of his did not become the Iron Fist", Madame Gao revealed, to Danny's horror. "If a student of his had become the Iron Fist, they would have left K'un-Lun together to join us. You and Davos were the backup. Whichever one of you won would be tricked into coming here, and of course, as fate would have it, it was you, the Iron Fist born in the United States, the one whose home is here as much as in K'un-Lun. All he needed was some choice words, and you came running."
Danny staggered back, feeling sick to his stomach as he realized he'd played right into the hands of Master Khan and The Hand.
"And now, your end has come."
Danny glared at her, then roared, trying to punch with his Iron Fist as she dodged that, and blocked any attempted strikes with his normal fist, and as Danny threw an Iron Fist punch, she dodged and smacked his face with her palm, sending him flying off.
Danny landed and charged again, Madame Gao dodging his punches while he leapt and tried to elbow, but she leapt back to avoid, then kicked his face, sending him back.
She then held out her hand and taunted him to come closer. "Let us see how much power the Iron Fist truly holds."
Danny almost charged her, but held himself back at the last moment, realizing what she was doing. Baiting him into attacking wildly, so she could use her superior experience to easily throw him off-balance.
And he was playing into her trap like a fool.
He wasn't just the rookie that Davos had thrown to the ground on his first day of training. He had trained, mastered his chi, honed his sensed, won the tournament, and won the Iron Fist!
Davos had turned his back on him, Harold and Madame Gao had killed his parents, and Master Khan was a traitor who'd been manipulating him.
So what?!
He had built himself up under Master Lei Kung, and with Davos, and earned the power of the Iron Fist.
He was the Iron Fist! The power belonged to him. And a true fighter, a true fighter did not give in to negative emotions when the enemy tried to feed into those.
No, he was going to stay calm, and win in the way of the Iron Fist, just like he'd won his final match that day, all those months ago.
Months ago, K'un-Lun
The final fight of the Tournament was here at last- Danny Rand vs. Davos! The two students of Lei Kung, his adopted son, and his blood son, both equally beloved by him, and both having been trained by him to be the best.
It was no wonder that they'd reached the final round.
And now, it was going to be one of them.
Lei Kung stood up, looking at both of them with pride.
"Begin!"
Davos took his fighting stance. "Mantis!"
Danny took his own. "Tiger!"
Then Davos charged, spinning his arms, trying to strike, Danny blocking the strikes, before backing and blocking a kick, then trying to kick himself as Davos dodged.
Then Danny ducked to avoid a swing and struck as Davos blocked, before Davos tried to sweep Danny's feet from underneath him but Danny stepped back to avoid.
They continued to clash, Davos trying to stomp down on Danny's feet as he stepped back to avoid. Their feet touched each other while Davos spun and tried to strike but Danny blocked.
He backed to avoid more swinging strikes from Davos, before blocking, but Davos quickly lowered his hand, then struck Danny's chest with both fists as he was sent staggering back, and then Davos smacked Danny's chest with interlocked palms, making him fly up and fall down.
Danny flipped up as Davos twirled his palms and threw kicks, Danny barely blocking, and he grasped Davos' wrist, lowering it, then grasped his other one as Davos freed the previous one, before Danny smacked him away.
Danny then charged Davos, throwing some strikes of the Tiger Style as Davos backed to avoid, and then ducked to avoid more strikes.
After that, he began to swiftly block Danny's strikes, and ducked to avoid another before blocking one until Danny struck his side, then kneed his abdomen before spinning and striking his face as Davos was sent flying off and crashing.
Danny looked down at him, his face a mix of affection and determination, while Davos got up, ready to fight more. He took another fighting stance with his mantis as Danny took another with his tiger.
With that, he charged Davos, swinging his palms in the Tiger Style as Davos blocked in the Mantis Style, and threw a strike that Danny ducked to avoid, then Danny blocked another, before leaning back to avoid both of Davos' swinging arms.
Then he blocked two more of Davos' strikes before kicking his face, sending him back into a pillar. As Davos recovered, Danny leapt with a punch, Davos side-stepping to avoid as the pillar was cracked.
Then Danny struck at Davos with his palms as Davos blocked those, then Danny tried to sweep his feet from underneath him but Davos leapt to avoid, and planted his feet on the pillar, using his chi to stick to it via, and took his fighting stance, while Danny looked up and took his own.
Danny then struck upwards with his palms as Davos blocked each time, and tried to strike at Danny once as he ducked to avoid, and the clashing continued, their palms clashing at one point, as Danny staggered back.
Davos took his fighting stance once more, only for Danny to charge forth and enhance his foot with chi, kicking the pillar, causing it to crack and shake before Davos fell to the ground.
As Davos got up, Danny charged at him, about to strike his throat, but stopped at the last moment, hesitating, remembering their first meeting, their training, the races, the laughter, the trouble.
Smiling at Davos, he lowered his palm, giving him a nod.
Davos did not smile back. He glared at Danny, then suddenly kicked him hard, sending him flying back as he crashed to the ground.
"The Iron Fist belongs to me!"
Then, he glowed with his human chi, his veins bursting with a white light as Danny stood up, and Davos charged him with a roar, striking with his palms many times in a fury, Danny blocking with his own wrists as he glowed with his human chi too.
Davos flipped towards Danny and continued trying to strike him, Danny backing and blocking, shocked by how ruthless Davos was being.
He continued to back, block and duck, as Davos' strikes hit two pillars and damaged them, before Danny blocked, backed and ducked again to avoid Davos' fury. As Danny avoided again, Davos' strike hit one pillar and he literally ripped part of it out.
He tried to strike again as Danny dodged and Davos ripped another part of the pillar out. Then he tried to strike again, Danny jumping away while Davos ripped out part of the pillar.
As he struck again a few times, Danny continued backing to avoid while Davos leapt onto a pillar and then at Danny, trying to strike, as Danny held out his hands, grasping Davos, throwing himself down, then tossing Davos to the other side.
Then he got up as Davos cartwheeled towards him, and he turned around just as Davos leapt with a roar, but he leapt up and back to avoid, Davos striking the ground and ripping some of it out while screaming, and he threw the rubble at Danny, Danny jumping to avoid once more, but some of it struck his side, damaging it a little.
As Danny landed, Davos struck forth with his palm but Danny leaned backwards and grasped his elbow. Davos glared, then freed himself before striking again as Danny blocked while backing, protecting himself from the rapid and furious blows.
Then he ducked to avoid two of those, and grasped Davos' hand, twisting as Davos gasped, before striking with his other as Danny grasped that too and pushed back, before twisting the other hand.
Davos freed himself and struck as Danny blocked, and he tried to strike but Danny grabbed his elbow and twisted a little, before Davos struck with his other elbow, though Danny blocked and continued to twist.
Davos then flipped to free himself and struck as Danny grasped his little finger and twisted, making him gasp. He tried to strike at Danny who leapt and flipped to his other side as he let the finger go, both glaring at each other.
As Davos charged Danny with a furious roar, Danny just leapt and kicked his face, sending him flying back and falling down.
Danny marched towards Davos, taking his fighting stance, but his expression was one of sadness and shock. Davos glared, then stood up with a roar.
He tried to strike as Danny ducked to his other side, and as Davos struck again, Danny repeated what he'd done. Then he dodged two more rapid strikes.
Lei Kung stood up in utter shock at what Davos was doing.
Danny blocked two blows, then punched Davos twice, before punching his face repeatedly, then blocking a blow and punching again. He dodged another strike and gave Davos two rapid punches, then kicked him on the face.
Then, he threw rapid strikes as Davos blocked, before one got his face, and then Danny struck him again, sending him staggering back.
After that, Danny, glowing white with his human chi, gave two quick kicks to Davos' face, before throwing some more as Davos backed and blocked. Danny then started giving spin-kicks, Davos continuing to back and block.
Then he gave a hard kick to Davos' face, sending him staggering back again. After that, Danny punched his face hard, sending him staggering away once more.
Danny took his fighting stance as Davos charged him, but Danny blocked his strikes and struck him back, then punched him thrice before ducking to avoid his punch, and ducked to avoid some more before punching him thrice.
Then he punched Davos in a combo again, and struck him, before punching his abdomen and face, dodging a punch, and striking at his throat as Davos staggered back in pain.
Danny charged Davos, ducking to avoid a swing, and then ducking to avoid one more before punching Davos' face hard as he was sent back. Then Danny punched Davos' chest, making him hold it in pain, and punched his face, sending him back.
Davos barely recovered when Danny threw more punches at his face, then punched his abdomen twice, Davos holding it and backing off in pain once more.
Davos screamed madly as Lei Kung lowered his head in sadness and shame. Davos charged Danny with a strike but he leapt and spun, kicking Davos back once more as he flew back and crashed to the ground.
Davos tried to stagger up, but Danny rushed him and with a leap, kicked his face, sending him rolling away, making him groan as he was knocked out.
Danny then looked ahead at Davos, waiting for him to get up.
He didn't.
Danny continued to look at the unconscious Davos.
"I'm sorry", he whispered. "I hope you can be happy for me as I'd been for you."
For a while, there was no sound.
Then, Master Khan began clapping for Danny, and then Chen, Feng, Hao and the rest joined. Finally, Lei Kung lifted his head, pushing down his shame at himself for leading Davos down this path for the time being, while his pride in Danny swelled, and he applauded too, Danny smiling as he looked up, and bowed humbly to the applause.
Danny had shown honor and humility in the fight with Chu, strategy in the fight with Bao, and calmness against fury in the fight with Davos.
He was perfect for the role.
"Now soon, Danny Rand shall face Shou-Lao in a test which proves if he is worthy of the power of the Iron Fist or not."
Danny just looked up in determination, ready to face this final challenge once and for all.
Present Day, New York City
Danny looked at Madame Gao with a smirk of his own. "You want to see the power of the Iron Fist?"
He charged at Gao again, and tried to punch with his normal fist as she raised her palm to block, but Danny stopped at the last moment, and jumped back, sliding on the ground, as both his fists glowed, and then he opened them, grasping part of the ground, and using his chi to break it off, Gao just staring.
Danny then threw the huge piece of the ground at Gao, before leaping as his entire body glowed with chi, and he kicked it hard, shattering it into pieces.
The rubble flew at Gao, who used her stick to break through it all, only to notice that Danny wasn't in front of her.
Sensing something, she turned around, only for Danny to hit her on the face with his Iron Fist as she was sent flying off, spitting out blood, and then she crashed to the ground.
Colleen glared at Bakuto, her katana glowing brighter, as Bakuto glared at her, and both charged each other with roars. They swung their blades in wide arcs, katana and dao sword clashing.
Only, Colleen's glowing katana cut through Bakuto's dao sword, and then through his chest, while Colleen got on his other side, having sliced through him.
She knelt, then stood up, turning around as she saw Bakuto, who turned around, blood seeping out of his chest as he held it, then coughed blood out, before staggering forwards, and then falling onto the floor on his face, surrounded in a pool of blood.
Bakuto was dead!
As Gao staggered up, her eyes widened in horror on seeing Danny completely glowing with chi now, the aura around him.
"This is the power the Iron Fist wields", Danny declared with a smirk as Gao leapt at him, stick held out, but he side-stepped to avoid, Gao landing on his other side.
She then turned, seeing his back to her, and leapt at him again, stick held out, only for Danny to side-step once more as Gao couldn't hit him. And then, in a rapid motion, Danny lifted his foot up, hitting Gao in the abdomen as she spat out blood, while the kick sent her flying into the air.
Her back hit the ceiling, breaking some of it, and as she fell down, Danny struck her with the Iron Fist, sending her crashing through the wall now, and Gao felt part of her stomach constrict, and was weakened.
She crashed on the ground, and tried to stagger up, only to see her hands had wrinkles on them.
"Huh?"
Danny marched towards her. "This Demon chi you foolishly use, it keeps you strong even at this age, it keeps you standing." He struck Gao's chest, and she spat out more blood, feeling even more weakened, while her face had many lines and wrinkles on it now, her hair turning completely white.
"But now, I've blocked it."
Then, Danny aimed his Iron Fists at her, and struck her chest with both, sending her flying off and rolling to the ground, spitting more blood, looking like a very, very old woman, one who was on her deathbed.
Danny just looked at her, Colleen walking to his side, as Gao stared at him in horror.
Her chi had all been blocked by him. Their armies could not be mustered, as the Iron Fist and the traitor had taken their factions out, and in general, the fights against these two had made her and Bakuto lose many men already.
At this point, even if the portal opened, they lacked the power to take over K'un-Lun.
And now, Colleen had taken out Bakuto, while Danny had blocked nearly all the Demon chi powering her up.
She just had a little bit left.
Madame Gao raised her hand, and then there was a blinding flash of light, Danny and Colleen shutting their eyes for a few moments and staggering back.
When they opened their eyes, Madame Gao was gone.
"No!" Danny cried out in frustration, as Colleen looked around, and her jaw dropped.
"She is not the only one."
"What do you-" Danny stopped on turning to her side, seeing that Bakuto was gone too. "Oh no!"
They shared a shocked look, as Danny stopped glowing, the lights flickering once more, while the entire ground seemed to shake.
"The portal", Danny noted, before sighing. "Gao and Bakuto may be gone, but we've decimated their factions, they won't be getting into K'un-Lun."
Colleen nodded in agreement, then asked. "What about the portal?"
"Its power is wielded by me."
Danny and Colleen turned around, Danny's eyes widening on seeing Master Khan step out of the shadows.
"Master Khan", Danny greeted coolly. Hearing about the betrayal was one thing, seeing it was another
"Danny", Khan said with a chuckle. "Look how far you've come."
"No thanks to you", Danny said with a snarl, Khan shrugging.
"Would you have been able to rediscover yourself had I not planted the thought in your mind that you needed to return?"
"For your gain", Danny pointed out.
"The power of the Iron Fist can only be wielded by those with the strength to wield it", Khan declared, then pointed at Danny. "You ran away. Clearly, you lack the strength."
Danny wasn't taking it. "You're not in K'un-Lun either, so that makes you weak as well."
Khan shrugged. "It seems one fight is left…the fight that shall decide who deserves the Iron Fist, and how the power of K'un-Lun must be used."
As Danny and Colleen stared, Master Khan declared. "Come to where the portal is by midnight. And then, the outcome shall be decided."
With that, he turned around and walked into the shadows, disappearing into them, while Danny and Colleen shared a look, then looked at the spot where Khan had last been.
The portal was corporeal, almost fully open now, some mountains at the edge of K'un-Lun visible on the other side.
Danny looked outside from the stronghold of The Hand, seeing lights flickering in all buildings, while everything continued to shake for a bit before stopping.
The final showdown was near.
Ending credits play.
And with this, the penultimate episode ends, hope it was enjoyed by all.
Thanks a lot to Brainstorm Sorcerer for many of the fight scene suggestions again, much appreciated.
Danny's fight with Chu was taken from Yusuke's fight with Chu in 'Yu Yu Hakusho', from the Dark Tournament Saga, the greatest Tournament Saga in all of manga/anime.
Then, his fight Bao was taken from the 1998 film 'Hitman', the fight being two of Jet Li's fights with Paul Rapovski.
The final fight with Davos was from the video 'A Real Chinese Kung Fu Master Fight: Incredible Mantis Style vs Tiger Style' by 'Kung Fu' on YouTube, and then Donnie Yen vs. Mak Wai from 'Legend of the Wolf'.
Obviously, this Tournament was much larger, with so many students participating, but due to 'episode length', I only showed three fights, all of them with Danny.
And this is not the Tournament of the Heavenly Cities, as this Tournament was only in K'un-Lun for them to select the guy who'll fight Shou-Lao, which was Danny.
But I hope this was like a good prelude to it. The Tournament of the Heavenly Cities would be a good plot for a hypothetical Season 2.
Danny used his chi like a gun in the fight with Chu. Of course it was a reference to Yusuke's Spirit Gun, but also to the chi guns that Iron Fist has used sometimes in comics.
This Tournament also referenced the final round of the Chūnin Exams in 'Naruto', where the students battle, and not just the skill but strategy and their ability to be calm in stressful situations are tested.
Davos fought aggressively due to believing the Iron Fist is his birthright, and Danny fought calmly, winning.
Khan's student Bao using this unconventional technique of blinding an opponent is what tipped Lei Kung and the other Masters off to Khan's true nature, explaining the flashbacks of the previous 'episode'.
Colleen's fights against The Hand Ninjas was taken from the videos 'Girl vs 7 guys/Brutal fight' by 'Czech Action Crew' and 'Demon Blade 2' by 'James Newman' on YouTube.
Danny's fight against them was taken from Scott Adkins' fight against ten guys in a nightclub from the film 'Ninja: Shadow of a Tear'.
Then, Colleen's final fight with Bakuto took a few bits from Zhang Ziyi's and Michelle Yeoh's fight in 'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon', and a lot of it was taken from the video 'Brendon Huor vs. Seth Austin (Sword of the Stranger Anime Style Fight)' by 'Lbpstuntschicago' on YouTube.
Remember, Danny had sensed chi in Colleen's katana in 'Episode' 4, and that finally came into play here.
Bakuto's skills were inconsistent in the show, but here they're consistent, and Colleen beat him as the chi in her katana caught him off-guard.
Danny's fight against Gao was taken from Gon's fights against Hisoka and Pitou from 'Hunter X Hunter'. At the end, he blocked the Demon chi inside her, weakening her, but she used the little bit she'd left to escape, and Bakuto escaped too, meaning he lives, and they will be back in 'The Defenders'.
Thanks a lot to Brainstorm Sorcerer for all the fight scene suggestions once more, much appreciated.
So, the evil chi used by The Hand is actually Demon chi, huh? Interesting. Another mystery for 'The Defenders' to tackle but I'm sure you all have your guesses.
And now, the truth of Master Khan has been revealed, so time for the finale.
Hope all enjoyed and see you all next time with the Season 1 finale!
