Prologue: New School Year, new life
It has been four months since Arkadimon was defeated. The Digidestined have been living peacefully, with some adjustments to some of their lifestyles to accommodate for the consequences of the battle with Arkadimon. Their new school year was starting soon, yet one Digidestined was in the Digital World.
Standing atop a cliff, wearing a special yellow cloak, stood a Digidestined with their partner.
Human: "Looks like we didn't find it today, Agumon."
Agumon: "Don't worry about it. We'll find it soon enough, right Taichi?"
Taichi turned to Agumon with a smile.
Taichi: "Of course, I just wish we had a bigger clue to these power outages happening around."
Taichi looked from the cliff and saw a large house in the distance. Agumon looked up to Taichi.
Agumon: "Do you want to go see them?"
Taichi: "Nah, it's late, and they have school tomorrow. Speaking of, we should get back home now. I've got practice tomorrow."
Agumon: "Alright."
Taichi brought his hand up to an earpiece on his ear.
Courage: "Koushiro, we didn't find anything today. We're going to go back home first. I need to get up early tomorrow."
Knowledge: "Alright, I know I've been asking since I gave it to you last month but, how's the cloak? Is it protecting you properly?"
Courage: "Yeah don't sweat it. It's protecting perfectly fine. Although I'm not sure how strong it will be against a proper Digimon attack."
Knowledge: "Alright. Good work today, I'll see you tomorrow. Goodnight."
Courage: "Definitely. Goodnight."
A gate opened in front of Taichi, and he entered it. He arrived in his home with Agumon. He hung the cloak on his chair before he went to bed. Agumon quickly went and made himself comfortable in his own small bed.
Somewhere...
The second generation Digidestined didn't know what had happened or where they were. All they knew, was that they were fighting for their lives.
Impeiraldramon and Metallicdramon were trying their best but to no avail. Their opponents were just too strong. The worst part was who they were fighting. An Omegamon, a Rosemon and a Piemon. It was bad enough that they had to fight multiple Digimon they believed to be on the side of good, but Piemon... he seemed to know them. It was almost as if... he was the one from four months ago.
Eventually, they fell. Their Digimon reverted and they couldn't fight any longer. They didn't have the numbers advantage or the strength advantage. It was a doomed fight from the start.
An alarm was going off within a room. A faint voice could be heard outside.
Voice: "Onii-Chan! Wake up!"
The door opened, revealing a girl in a school uniform.
Girl: "Come on, Onii-Chan. You're going to be late for practice."
The girl went to the bed and began to pull on the blanket.
Girl: "Wake Up!"
She softly pulled the blanket off, causing Taichi to jolt up.
Taichi: "Hikari!? What's happening?"
Hikari giggled.
Hikari: "You're going to be late for practice."
Taichi looked at his alarm clock and immediately started to panic. He quickly jumped up and went to prepare himself, while Hikari went back to the living room. She sat down at the table and began to eat her breakfast.
As Taichi was tying his shoes, Hikari stood up.
Hikari: "Onii-Chan, are you ok?"
Taichi: "Huh? Why wouldn't I be?"
Hikari: "Normally you wouldn't sleep through your alarm, especially for practice."
Taichi: "Oh, don't worry about it. I just had a weird dream, that's all."
Hikari's face turned into one of confusion, almost as if something odd had happened.
Hikari: "Hmm?"
Taichi: "And besides, I slept quite late yesterday. I was helping Koushiro."
Hikari: "Ah right, the power outages."
Taichi: "Yeah, anyways I gotta go. I'll see you later, Hikari!"
Taichi looked further into the house.
Taichi: "See you later, Mom!"
Taichi ran out the door, leaving Hikari behind with their mother.
Taichi's mom came out of the kitchen and saw a bento on the table.
Mrs Yagami: "Ah, he forgot his lunch."
Hikari: "Don't worry, Mom. I'll bring it to him."
Mrs Yagami: "Alright, thanks Hikari."
Mrs Yagami went back to handling the house as Hikari went to sit at the table. She placed her head in her hands and looked deep in thought.
"A weird dream? Takeru and I both had one as well… I know Takeru and I had the same dream… was Onii-Chan's the same as well? Either way, that dream felt too realistic. We need to make sure Daisuke and the rest are ok."
Hikari stood up and walked into one of the rooms. It used to be her room, but now it was unoccupied. She picked up the cat that was looking around the room.
Hikari: "Alright, Tailmon. You ready to go?"
Tailmon: "Of course."
Hikari let Tailmon down, allowing Tailmon to jump to the window. Hikari said a swift goodbye to her mother before grabbing her lunch and her brother's. She left her house and got on a bicycle. She cycled towards the school, with Tailmon following her via the trees.
That's it for the prologue. Welcome back, Digidestined! Been a while since the end of the first fanfic, isn't it? Well, I definitely won't be able to produce chapters at the same speed as last time. So, no 2 weeks, 2 chapters kind of thing. I'll probably go with a 2 weeks, 1 chapter? Not too sure yet. Anyways, I'll be publishing every Friday for this fanfic. See you soon!
