Chapter 3: The Alpha and the Omega

The Digidestined had all been sent home by Himekawa, with the exception of Takeru and Hikari. The two were being driven to Himekawa's office. As they exited the van, the two felt slightly uneasy.

Hikari: "There's a dark presence inside…"

Takeru: "Yeah… but don't worry. It's not necessarily evil, right?"

Hikari: "Right… there's also a small presence of Light."

The two were speaking in whispers as they followed Himekawa into the building.

Himekawa: "Himekawa here. Digidestined 7 and 8 are with me."

Voice: "Alright, he said he will be waiting inside."

The door in front of them opened, allowing the group to go in. Himekawa brought them to her office and opened the door. As they entered, they saw a familiar face.

However, instead of greeting him with a smile, Takeru and Hikari unexpectedly formed their weapons from their Holy Rings. Himekawa looked shocked.

Himekawa: "What are you two doing? Isn't this Gennai? The one that helped your group?"

Takeru and Hikari glared at Gennai as Patamon and Tailmon got in front of them protectively.

Tailmon: "You're not Gennai."

Takeru: "Who are you?"

Hikari: "What did you do to Gennai?"

The Gennai lookalike turned and had a smile. He clapped his hands and sighed.

Gennai(?): "Impressive. It seems we have underestimated you two yet again. Oh well, the game is over I guess."

The Gennai lookalike turned to the window.

Gennai(?): "I'm not here to fight, so you can put away your weapons."

Himekawa looked confused at the scene before her as Takeru and Hikari relaxed a little, but their weapons didn't change back into being Holy Rings.

Gennai(?): "I have been the one that has been communicating with this group. It was quite easy, to just steal the name. With the two of us having a similar appearance it's not like they would've realised it easily."

Patamon: "Then you've been giving false information?"

Takeru: "What are you planning?"

Gennai(?): "Oh, don't be so rash. All the information I've given is true. You can check with the real Gennai. We might not be on the same side, but my lord and I have been courteous enough to give only the correct information. After all, it wouldn't be fun if Gennai withheld important information to the Digital World's strongest defenders."

The group stayed quiet and glared at the lookalike.

Gennai(?): "Oh well, it's up to you if you want to believe me, but I'm not entirely 'evil' as you call it. Regardless, I've just made this an even battlefield. Something that Gennai and the beasts are too scared of. I wonder why he is so scared of giving up that information."

The Gennai lookalike smirked as he walked towards the window. A gate opened in front of him, and he gave a small wave as he left. The group was dumbfounded but Himekawa quickly recovered.

Himekawa: "What was that?"

Himekawa began to move to her computer and looked through the data.

Hikari: "We're not sure…"

Takeru: "What information did he give you?"

Patamon: "We can check if it's true."

Himekawa thought for a moment and sighed.

Himekawa: "I'm not supposed to give out some of this information but… it's useless if I don't know whether it's true or not."

Himekawa gestured for the two to come to her computer and the two followed. Patamon and Tailmon sat on the couch, thinking about what had just happened.

Himekawa: "Firstly, the power outages are indeed caused by Digimon."

Hikari: "Yes, Gennai and Qinglongmon suspect that there is a root cause but… we haven't been able to investigate it because of the infection."

Himekawa nodded and the screen changed to images of the infected Kuwagamon.

Himekawa: "Secondly, there's an infection going on throughout the Digital World. We don't know what's causing it."

Takeru: "Correct, although Qinglongmon and Gennai think it may have something to do with the Dark Ocean. As Hikari and I are half Digital, Qinglongmon is having us live with him to minimise the risk of us getting infected."

Hikari: "We're also not sure about how the Digimon are infected, so for now we are trying to use the gates as little as possible just in case."

Himekawa nodded and typed in some words. She sighed before she pulled up a page showing names of the first and second generation Digidestined.

Himekawa: "Lastly… despite the screen here saying all the Digidestined are safe and accounted for… Digidestined 9 to 12, Motomiya Daisuke, Ichijoji Ken, Inoue Miyako and Hida Iori, all four of them are currently not accounted for, correct?"

Takeru and Hikari looked at each other with worry but nodded.

Takeru: "They… we don't know what happened to them."

Hikari: "They just began to have a dark feeling like the Dark Ocean after we had a weird dream."

Takeru: "Qinglongmon and Gennai… they have told us not to tell anybody."

Hikari: "They don't want everyone else to panic…"

Himekawa glanced towards an unopened drawer and sighed.

Himekawa: "Alright then. Thank you, both of you."

Takeru and Hikari nodded with sombre expressions.

Takeru: "If that's all, Hikari and I will go and report to Qinglongmon and Gennai. Until we say so, keep all this information secret from the rest."

Himekawa: "Of course."

Hikari took off her Holy Ring and lightly flicked it in front of her. It changed into a gate. The duo walked through with their partners. Himekawa looked on in shock.

"A direct gate..? Straight to… Qinglongmon…"

The next day

The Digidestined were getting ready for school. All of them had their televisions on and were watching the news as they got ready.

Reporter: "Yesterday's unidentified creatures caused major damage in Odaiba. Miraculously, there were no reports of anyone being seriously injured. The unidentified creatures first appeared in Odaiba and were later spotted at Haneda Airport. Although there is no data on these creatures, many have claimed to have seen them before. Here's some public reactions."

Citizen 1: "I'm really worried that they'll come back."

Citizen 2: "The children were terrified. I hope they don't come back."

Taichi watched the television and clenched his fists.

Taichi: "They're treating you like the enemies."

Mrs Yagami: "My my, there's nothing scary about you two, right?"

Agumon/Tailmon: "Right!"

Mrs Yagami: "They just don't understand you guys enough, right?"

Agumon/Tailmon: "Right!"

Hikari had a small smile seeing Agumon and Tailmon cheerfully interacting with her mom.

Taichi sighed and started to walk to the door.

Taichi: "I'm off…"

Taichi was absorbed in his thoughts and was surprised when he saw Yamato waiting outside the lift.

Taichi: "Yamato…"

Yamato: "Did you see the news?"

Taichi flinched but didn't respond. Yamato sighed and the two walked to school together.

At school, many of the students were talking about what had happened on the news. Taichi clenched his fist.

Yamato: "Let's go."

Taichi sighed and walked with Yamato to Daigo's office. As they opened the door, they found that the room was empty. They went to the staff room and asked the other teachers but found that Daigo hadn't come to school for the day.

The duo left the staff room and was greeted by Sora and Koushiro, who both looked very shocked as Mimi was in front of them.

Taichi: "Mimi?"

Mimi turned around with a flourish and gave a peace sign.

Mimi: "Did I forget to tell you? I'm enrolling in this school, year one, same class as Koushiro."

The group looked shocked but turned their heads when they heard a sneeze. They saw a girl that also came out of the staff room with Mimi.

The girl looked embarrassed and quickly ran away.

Sora: "Your friend?"

Mimi: "Nope. She's a transfer student, just like me. I heard she's a second year. Maybe she'll be in your class, Sora."

Sora: "Is that so…"

The bell went off and Mimi turned to Koushiro.

Mimi: "Can you escort me?"

Koushiro gave a smile.

Koushiro: "Of course."

The two went off to the class, with Mimi chatting excitedly with Koushiro.

Sora: "They work well together."

Yamato: "Really?"

Sora: "I don't mean it in a romantic way."

Yamato: "Ah, I get what you mean."

Taichi: "Makes sense. Mimi was with him a lot after our first Adventure."

Sora: "Anyways, I heard that the game and concert got cancelled."

Yamato: "Yeah, we will probably go for it once things settle down."

Taichi: "Yeah."

The trio walked off to their classes. As Taichi and Sora sat down in their class, they saw a new student walk in.

Taichi and Sora looked a little surprised.

Meiko: "M-My name is Meiko Mochizuki. I transferred here from Tottori. N-Nice to meet you."

Meiko went to the empty seat and noticed Taichi and Sora. She let out a small gasp and sat down.

The teacher continued with their class as usual.

At the end of the day, the Digidestined had all agreed to meet up. They were in Koushiro's office, which had apparently shifted to a new location, and looked substantially larger. Their Digimon had stayed at home, with the exception of Tentomon, who always followed Koushiro to his office.

As they were waiting for the rest of the members to arrive, Yamato and Sora were looking around the new office in awe. Mimi was excitedly asking Koushiro about the new office. Taichi had seen the office a few times before, so he already knew about it. Instead, Taichi had more interest in Hikari and Takeru as both looked oddly uneasy.

Taichi went close to Hikari.

Taichi: "Hey, is Daisuke and the rest coming?"

Hikari: "Ah err…"

Taichi: "You and Takeru were able to pass on the message, right?"

Takeru looked to Hikari and spoke up with a worried face.

Takeru: "Erm, Taichi, we will explain later, but they won't be coming."

Taichi gave them a skeptical look but didn't push any further. The intercom rang and Tentomon flew over to it. He clicked a few buttons before flying back to Koushiro.

Tentomon: "Joe is here."

Yamato and Sora went to the couch and were ready for the meeting to start soon, while Mimi continued to question Koushiro about the office. Soon enough, Joe entered the room with a shocked expression.

Joe: "What on… how did you get an office like this, Koushiro?!"

Koushiro: "Ah, Himekawa… funded… the office. She said she wanted us to have the best equipment possible to keep us well-informed about any threats.

Mimi quickly went over to Joe and energetically greeted him.

Mimi: "It's been ages!"

Mimi quickly grabbed his hand and placed two packets of sweets into it.

Mimi: "Here, have a souvenir! One for Gomamon as well!"

Joe smiled.

Joe: "It hasn't been that long. It's only been six months since we fought Arkadimon."

Mimi pouted and muttered her response.

Mimi: "That's long enough…"

Sora giggled.

Sora: "Don't worry Joe. She's just excited to see all of us again. Sorry we had to drag you away from studying."

Joe: "It's fine."

Koushiro gave a sheepish smile as he peeked out from the computer on his desk, which had six screens.

Koushiro: "Sorry about the couches, I had them brought in from my previous office and I don't really have the money to buy more."

Taichi: "Don't worry about it, Koushiro. Anyways, let's move on to our topic for today."

Koushiro: "What about Daisuke and the rest?"

Taichi: "… Don't worry, we will just contact them later…"

Koushiro looked skeptical but ignored it.

Koushiro: "Ok… I'm assuming you guys saw the news today?"

Hikari: "Mmm, it was terrible."

Mimi: "I can't believe they would insult our partners like that."

Yamato: "I'll ask my dad to make a complaint against it."

Sora: "Now now, let's not get rash."

Joe: "Yeah, they're just using scare tactics to gather attention."

Taichi: "It's not completely wrong though."

The Digidestined looked at Taichi with shock.

Taichi: "The airport and Odaiba did get majorly damaged."

Yamato: "Tch, you know that if we didn't stop them, there would've been more damage."

Taichi: "Yeah. Sorry, I just don't think we can do much against the claims against our Digimon. I'm not blaming them, but… as long as we fight here, we won't be able to avoid damage."

Koushiro: "Are you suggesting we should bring them to the Digital World? We probably could. It would be hard, but I can open gates if we need to."

Takeru and Hikari looked at each other with worry and decided to speak up.

Takeru: "Actually, there's something we need to say…"

The Digidestined now turned their confusion to Takeru and Hikari, as both had stood up.

Hikari: "There's… an infection happening in the Digital World right now."

Takeru: "It's best if we… don't use gates that often."

Hikari: "It started around the time of the blackouts. We've been staying with Qinglongmon since then."

Koushiro: "An infection?"

Takeru: "Yeah and…"

Hikari: "Takeru and I can't… travel to the Digital World or be near the gates for too long as we may get infected, same with our partners. Also…"

Hikari and Takeru looked to the ground, looking like they were ashamed of something.

Taichi: "Hikari?"

Small tears came out of Hikari's eyes.

Hikari: "I… I think Agumon and Tentomon have been…"

Hikari didn't need to finish the sentence as they all managed to understand.

Hikari wiped her tears and had an apologetic look. Takeru also looked apologetic.

Yamato: "So you knew since about this… and you didn't tell us?"

Takeru: "Sorry… Qinglongmon and Gennai… they didn't want any of you to worry... but they've given permission for us to say it now."

Hikari: "Also… there's more…"

The Digidestined were all taken aback at the incredible amount of information that was given to them.

Hikari: "About a week ago, did any of you have any strange dreams?"

Taichi: "Yeah, it was vague, but I remember some familiar figures, but I couldn't put my finger on who-"

Taichi's face paled as he remembered what he saw. The rest of the Digidestined all seemed to have the same dream and were all realising what they saw.

Taichi: "No…"

Hikari and Takeru nodded.

Hikari: "Daisuke and the rest…"

Takeru: "We've lost contact with them."

Taichi: "No… but I… I saw Daisuke a week ago…"

Hikari shook her head.

Hikari: "It has something to do with the… dark ocean…"

There was silence in the room as all the Digidestined started to process everything.

Koushiro grit his teeth and looked back on everything he had typed. Takeru and Hikari put on faces of determination.

Takeru: "We will do our best and work with Qinglongmon and Gennai."

Hikari: "We will give any updates when we can."

Taichi sighed and walked over to Hikari, ruffling her hair. Taichi put on a grin.

Taichi: "Don't worry about it. It's not your fault. We will all do our best to get our friends back."

Taichi turned to the rest of the Digidestined who seemed to have lightened up from his comment. Mimi perked up.

Mimi: "Is anyone else hungry? We should get something to eat."

Mimi had a wide grin, and it was obvious that she was just trying her best to lighten up the mood.

Taichi: "Ah sorry, I promised Agumon I would go out with him later."

Yamato: "Sorry, band practice."

Joe: "I need to study."

Sora: "A break would be good for you, Joe."

Joe sighed.

Joe: "Sorry, I really need to study. I barely even have enough time for my girlfriend."

Upon hearing that, the room went into total silence, even Koushiro's typing had completely stopped.

Joe: "What?"

Mimi: "No way! I don't believe it!"

Joe: "What's wrong with that? I'm the oldest one here so I have the first right to be happy."

The group immediately gave Joe a deadpan expression as they turned to Takeru and Hikari. Takeru and Hikari became flustered under the sudden attention given to them.

Joe: "A-Anyways, it's true!"

The discussion went on for a little while before the Digidestined went off to do their own business. Taichi had went off to pick up Agumon. Yamato went to practice with his band. Koushiro had opted to continue researching. Joe went back home to study. Not wanting to intrude on the three girls, Takeru decided to go back to his home to see his mom.

The following day

Sora: "Koushiro, did you sleep well?"

Koushiro: "Yeah… for about… three hours…"

The Digidestined clearly showed their disdain, but Koushiro quickly changed their focus.

Koushiro: "A-Anyways, I finally finished making these googles. Try them on, Taichi."

Taichi: "Sure…"

Taichi put on the googles and had to blink as he adjusted to the multiple green lines he saw.

Taichi: "What is this..?"

Koushiro: "It should let you see distortions in space. In other words, it should let you see a gate."

Taichi: "But we can already see those…"

Koushiro: "Theoretically it should allow you to see it before a gate is formed, as the gates actually start to form quite a bit before we can actually see it."

Koushiro brought up his tablet and typed into it for a moment. As Koushiro was typing, Taichi started to see more lines appearing. They were also starting to turn red instead of being green.

Koushiro: "It should look more intense now since I've opened the special digital space for our Digimon."

Taichi: "Yeah, the light is definitely stronger."

Koushiro: "That's perfect, then we can use this to help search for other gates that could appear. Hopefully, we don't find any. It wouldn't be good if a fight broke out here."

The Digidestined were about to walk off, but Sora stopped them. She walked over to a figure she saw, a familiar figure to Sora and Taichi in particular.

Sora: "Is everything alright?"

Meiko: "Ah, umm… you see… I was looking for something, but I ended up getting lost."

Mimi walked up to them as well.

Mimi: "Shall we show you around?"

Meiko: "But…"

Sora: "Don't worry, we're also searching for something."

Takeru and Hikari looked to each other and nodded as Sora and Mimi were convincing Meiko. Hikari went to Taichi and tapped him on the shoulder lightly.

Hikari: "Let's be careful. Takeru and I sense a very small darkness nearby and it doesn't feel friendly.

Taichi: "From… Mochizuki?"

Takeru: "No, it's moving around very fast, but it doesn't seem to be causing any trouble. Although, it definitely doesn't feel friendly like Devimon or SkullKnightmon."

Koushiro: "Then should we chase after it?"

Taichi thought for a moment before shaking his head.

Taichi: "No, for now we will just avoid it. It wouldn't be good if it were a threat, and we brought Mochizuki into it."

Koushiro nodded as the group gathered and started to walk around.

Sora: "So what are you looking for?"

Meiko: "It's… like a cat…"

As they continued to roam around, Takeru and Hikari were constantly on guard, ensuring they didn't walk towards the small darkness they felt. Taichi also occasionally put on the new googles to check for any gates.

As they explored around the different areas, nothing much happened. Eventually, they had been walking around for a long time and Meiko decided to split from them, not wanting to trouble them anymore.

As the Digidestined continued to walk around, Taichi sighed.

Taichi: "Maybe it would be better if we were higher."

Koushiro: "Ah, that makes sense. Then maybe we can go there?"

Koushiro pointed towards a Ferris wheel.

Taichi: "Looks perfect."

The Digidestined began to walk to the Ferris wheel as Takeru looked up from his phone.

Takeru: "Onii-chan just arrived. I'll tell him to meet up with us at the Ferris wheel."

Taichi: "Alright."

The group went over to the Ferris wheel and found Yamato waiting for them.

Yamato: "Sorry, band practice extended longer than I thought it would."

Koushiro: "It's no problem."

As the Digidestined went towards the Ferris wheel, they found that there was no queue and would be able to get on immediately.

Yamato: "So what's happening here?"

Sora: "Taichi can explain to you."

Before they had even realised, Sora, Mimi, Koushiro, Takeru and Hikari had already gotten on the first carriage and the door closed.

Taichi shrugged and got on the next one with Yamato.

Mimi laughed and watched on in interest.

Mimi: "Wonder what's going to happen~"

Sora: "Yeah, they felt a little off yesterday. Maybe they'll be able to talk it out properly."

Taichi and Yamato looked out the windows as the Ferris wheel went up. After a while, Yamato spoke up.

Yamato: "Hey, about yesterday, something was off about you."

Taichi: "You noticed, huh?"

Yamato gave a small smile.

Yamato: "We've been friends and comrades in battle for what? Four years? I would pick up if you acted weird especially if it were related to the Digital World."

Taichi: "It's been five."

Yamato: "You sure you want to include the year you were gone?"

Taichi: "Fair."

Yamato: "So? What's up?"

Taichi: "It's… nothing…"

Yamato: "Taichi… a new threat is coming. Even worse, it could be the dark ocean. I'd rather both of us be at our best."

Taichi remained silent for a moment before sighing.

Taichi: "I can't help it. That year changed me, alright? And… I've already lost so much to the Digital World…"

Yamato's eye twitched.

Yamato: "So you're not going to fight as hard? You need to be clearer with me, Taichi."

Taichi: "Tch, I just… I'm trying to see the bigger picture, alright? I don't want any damage to happen to this world. I don't want to lose anything else."

Yamato: "We fight to ensure we don't lose anything else. You're not making sense Taichi."

Taichi's face began to grow more aggressive, and it looked like he was trying to hold back anger.

Taichi: "I've already lost a year of my life to the Digital World, and now I've lost Hikari! I don't want to lose anything else, ok? Is that too much to ask for?!"

Yamato glared at Taichi.

Yamato: "If we're going there, I've lost Takeru as well. That makes it twice now. I also don't want to lose anything else, that's why I'm going to keep fighting."

Taichi: "At least you didn't bond with him like I did with Hikari!"

Taichi's eyes widened, and he was taken aback. Yamato had a similar reaction, before scowling and turning away. Taichi looked apologetic.

Taichi: "Y-Yamato… sorry, I-I didn't mean it. I don't… I don't know what came over me…"

Yamato stayed silent for a moment before taking a deep breath.

Yamato: "Not cool, but you've been through a lot, so I'll let it slide."

Although Yamato had said that, it was clear to Taichi and Yamato that there were going to be some lasting effects from this conversation.

Yamato looked out the window as he spoke.

Yamato: "So what are we doing up here, anyways?"

Taichi: "Ah, right."

Taichi began to put on his googles.

Taichi: "Just checking fo- Holy shit."

Taichi quickly brought out his phone and texted Koushiro. Taichi began to explain everything to Yamato as the Digidestined waited for the Ferris wheel to finish its rotation.

As the Ferris wheel finished its rotation, the sky had darkened and it started to get windy. An announcement was made for citizens to start evacuating.

The Digidestined started to run behind Taichi, who had his googles on.

Taichi: "We're almost there, it's just up ahead."

Hikari: "Onii-Chan, we need to be careful. We're running towards the small darkness from earlier."

Koushiro: "Then, maybe the gate is the source of the darkness?"

Takeru: "No, the darkness feels like a Digimon. I don't think it's the gate."

The Digidestined were cautious, but they pressed onward. They were the only ones who could defend against whatever came out from the gate.

As they reached the location of the gate, they realised that it was beginning to open.

Mimi: "Koushiro, quickly get Palmon and the others!"

Koushiro: "Right!"

Koushiro took out his tablet and quickly typed on it. Soon the Digimon came out of the area. With the information given by Takeru and Hikari, Koushiro had already made a separate space for Agumon and Tentomon, to reduce the chance of the infection spreading.

The gate fully opened and a large Digimon came out of it.

Koushiro brought his Digivice forward.

Koushiro: "Alphamon. Mega."

The large Digimon turned and seemed to be looking at something. The Digidestined turned and saw Meiko holding a small cat-like creature.

Sora: "Isn't that…"

Taichi: "Move! Get away from here!"

Alphamon appeared disappointed before turning towards the Digidestined. He raised his arm, aiming at them.

The Digidestined clenched their Digivices and their Digimon quickly evolved all the way to Mega. Alphamon didn't seem fazed and fired a green projectile towards the Digidestined.

WarGreymon brought his brave shield forward and blocked the projectile. WarGreymon was pushed back slightly. Hououmon, HerakleKabuterimon and Rosemon dashed out from behind Wargreymon and charged towards Alphamon.

Rosemon threw her whip forward and caught Alphamon's hand. HerakleKabuterimon readied an attack, as did Hououmon.

HerakleKabuterimon: "Giga-"

Hououmon: "Starlight-"

Alphamon aimed his non-restricted hand up, towards Hououmon and fired a single green projectile towards her. The projectile hit Hououmon and surprisingly was able to knock her out. Hououmon fell to the ground, reverting to Piyomon.

Sora: "Piyomon!"

HerakleKabuterimon: "Blaster!"

Alphamon formed a blade in his hand and stabbed at HerakleKabuterimon's attack, instantly dissipating it. Alphamon slashed the vines entangling his other hand.

HerakleKabuterimon and Rosemon were in shock and couldn't react as Alphamon thrust his hands out and sent a green projectile towards each of them. Both got hit and instantly reverted.

Mimi: "Palmon!"

Koushiro: "In just one shot…"

MetalGarurumon: "Grace Cross Freezer!"

The missiles from MetalGarurumon hit Alphamon, causing him to be encased in ice. However, in a split second, the ice shattered.

Seraphimon and Ophanimon charged down from above, but Alphamon merely stood his ground and blocked. Alphamon seemed like he was struggling a little from blocking Seraphimon's punch and Ophanimon's lance, but he quickly pushed both of them away.

He thrust his hand towards the side and a new sword began to form. Alphamon held the sword as the plates on his back extended out and formed golden wings. Alphamon's expression also sharpened.

In an instant, Alphamon was in front of Ophanimon and slashed down with his sword. Ophanimon tried to bring her shield forward to block the attack, but the shield cracked. Alphamon landed on the ground before kicking Ophanimon away. He quickly fired a projectile, causing even Ophanimon to revert instantly.

Seraphimon: "Don't hurt Ophanimon! Seven Heavens!"

Alphamon spun his sword and blocked the seven balls of energy coming towards him. Seraphimon appeared right in front of him and attempted to punch him, but Alphamon blocked it with his sword and pushed his hand onto Seraphimon's armour. With a point-blank shot, Seraphimon was sent flying back while reverting.

Alphamon had taken down five megas in merely a few seconds. MetalGarurumon's compartments quickly opened, and the missiles flew forward, hitting Alphamon. Alphamon turned towards the attack and was frozen solid. However, like before, the ice shattered, barely slowing Alphamon. Alphamon began to float over to the Digidestined.

Yamato: "Freezing it isn't going to work... Taichi, now!"

Taichi: "G-Got it, Yamato!"

Taichi and Yamato brought their Digivices forward as WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon fused into Omegamon.

Alphamon was mostly expressionless, but it did flinch upon seeing Omegamon. Although the Digidestined couldn't tell very well, it almost seemed like Alphamon was excited.

Omegamon's sword was unsheathed, and he charged forward towards Alphamon. Alphamon charged forward as well. The two clashed, an immense wind coming from their clash.

The Digidestined had to form their shields just to protect themselves from the intense wind.

Taichi: "Shit. This is like against Negamon but in our world instead."

The winds were so intense that it had already damaged the surrounding area.

Alphamon thrust forth his other hand, a green energy forming on it. Omegamon quickly flew back, avoiding the attack. However, the green projectiles flew across the battlefield, hitting some of the surrounding structures, including the Ferris wheel the Digidestined had just been on.

Omegamon dashed back and thrust his sword into the ground as he fired with his cannon arm. Alphamon swung his sword and slashed through the blasts as he landed on Omegamon's sword.

With his momentum, on top of standing on the sword, Alphamon had trapped Omegamon's sword into the ground. Alphamon raised his sword and was about to slash down on Omegamon. However, Omegamon's eyes sharpened, and he thrust his other hand up.

Naturally, his cannon arm wouldn't have been able to stop Alphamon's slash. However, it wasn't his cannon that collided with Alphamon's sword. It was a golden sword that clashed. Omegamon pushed the sword upwards as Alphamon backed away.

Omegamon pulled his sword out of the ground and it began to morph, becoming a cannon. Omegamon aimed it up and fired at Alphamon. Alphamon thrust his hand forward, firing green projectiles.

As the smoke between them cleared, Alphamon's eyes widened as he saw Omegamon Alter-S. Alphamon's eyes sharpened. Omegamon aimed his cannon at Alphamon and fired a blast that immobilised Alphamon.

Alphamon twitched as a gate opened behind him. He struggled to break free as Omegamon slashed at the air, sending sword slashes towards Alphamon. Just before they could hit, Alphamon was able to break free and enter the gate, with it instantly closing behind him. The sword slashes went forward, hitting into a building as its original target had simply vanished.

Seeing that Alphamon was gone, Omegamon started to revert back to Agumon and Gabumon. The Digidestined ran over to their partners and gathered together. As they gathered, they were about to discuss but Takeru and Hikari quickly flinched and turned around sharply. The rest of the Digidestined turned around and saw Meiko holding a small cat-like creature.

Sora: "Is… that what you were looking for?"

Meiko: "Ah… yes. This is Mei."

Takeru and Hikari looked tense, and they went to their brothers' sides. They lightly tugged on their shirts, giving Taichi and Yamato a message.

Meiko fiddled with an object in her pocket and showed it to the rest of the Digidestined.

Koushiro: "A Digivice…"

Mimi: "So you're a Digidestined too?"

Meiko: "Ah, I suppose so. Sorry for not saying it earlier."

Sora: "It's fine, it's not like you can just go around saying you're a Digidestined."

Meiko turned down to her partner in her hands and had a small smile.

Meiko: "This is Meicoomon. Mei, these nice people were helping to look for you earlier. Say thank you."

Meicoomon: "Dan Dan."

Meicoomon had a smile that looked innocent to the Digidestined, however, Takeru and Hikari shuddered in fear.

Mimi: "Dan… Dan?"

Meiko: "It's… dialect for thank you."

Sora and Mimi began to converse with Meiko as the Digidestined walked away from the battlefield. Taichi, Yamato, Koushiro, Takeru and Hikari were a bit behind.

Taichi: "What happened, Hikari?"

Yamato: "Yeah, same with you, Takeru."

Takeru and Hikari's faces were pale as they responded.

Hikari: "The small darkness…"

Takeru: "It's Meicoomon."
