Jack felt like he was going to be ruling the world any day now. His business was booming, his secret experiments were going exceedingly well, and his boyfriend of six months had agreed to meet his parents. He felt like he was on Cloud 9. As he combed back his hair, he could hear Jun Jie getting dressed in the bedroom. Everything felt so perfect. He smiled at himself in the mirror. He just had to get through an hour of alone time with Jun Jie and his parents, and then it was time for the Gala.

He stepped out of the ensuite, smiling still as gazed at the man in his room. Jun Jie was busy buttoning up his shirt, their suit jackets neatly set across the bed. Jack felt his smile slip a little as he watched, a niggling part of his brain comparing the man before him to the one the darkest parts of him craved. He shook his head slightly, pushing the thoughts back down as he strode across the room and planted a kiss on Jun Jie's cheek.

"Almost ready?"

"Almost. Do I have to wear the cuff links?" Jun Jie asked, looking a little uncomfortable as he adjusted his collar. Jack picked up the box holding the custom black diamond cuff links, glancing back at him.

"You did want to wear Western formal wear. I'll help you with them." Jack smiled, pulling them out and walking over to attach the accessory to the cuffs of his boyfriend's shirt. Jun Jie allowed him, not commenting on the choice but still looking nervous.

"Thanks." They kissed quickly, finishing dressing before heading out. They took one of Jack's miniature jets, a thing Jun Jie was still in awe of, to the Spicer Mansion. The place had had some updates since Jack had moved out, though the basement remained a place of storage for various old robotics projects. The Spicers had expanded and now had a vast ballroom to accommodate the charity galas they held yearly for their antiquities network.

Sophia and Jonathan Spicer were delighted to meet their son's new beau. Jonathan asked Jun Jie about his studies and about his future plans while Sophia fawned over him. Jun Jie was engaging and charming if a bit reserved. That feeling persisted. Everything was going smoothly and perfect.

Once people started arriving for the gala, Jun Jie kept by Jack's side. There were many people that Jack knew, that he greeted and introduced to his boyfriend. As the night wore on, Jun Jie even started venturing out and joining other conversations. Jack felt at ease and in his element, like nothing could go wrong.

But then, that just wasn't Jack's luck, now was it.

Jack couldn't find his boyfriend. It was odd, because he could have sworn he'd just seen him. He wound his way through the partygoers, deflecting inviting conversations with a smile as he searched. This was a lot…perhaps the man had gone to get some fresh air? Jack made his way to the balcony, which was sparsely populated. He called out, looking around and a knot of worry tightened in his belly.

"Jun Jie?" There was a sound above him, like wind but far too familiar. The sound of a dragon riding through the air. Jack looked up, a glimpse of green in the dark sky confirming his suspicions. It disappeared quacking into the expansive garden and Jack broke out into a run. Why the fuck were the monks here?

As he rounded the hedge, the albino man arrived just in time to see Ping Pong dart off of Dojo with the Tangle Web Comb in hand. Before him stood a stone still and clearly terrified Jun Jie. Before anyone could stop him, Ping Pong acted.

"Tangle Web Comb!" The small monk cried, a thick web of silk shooting out and encasing the confused man before him. Jun Jie fell backwards, completely encased in the silk as the other monks gasped.

"Jun Jie!" Jack cried, rushing forward to tear the silk from his lover's face and attempt to free him. He shot a vicious glare up at the monks, "What have you done?"

Ping Pong lifted his chin, less familiar with Jack than the rest, but knowing who he was. "I have captured the evil Chase Young!"

Jack snarled, getting up with a frightening speed and snatching the Shen Gong Wu from the small yellow boy. "That isn't Chase, you fucking moron! Tangle Web Comb!"

The silk was sucked back into the comb, revealing Jun Jie as he gasped for breath. Jack pocketed the comb, before he rushed over to Jun Jie, helping the man up.

"But, I…!"

"This isn't Chase! This is my boyfriend, his name is Jun Jie you miscreants! Why in the name of Hannibal Roy Bean, would you think Chase Young would be at a fucking charity gala at my parents' house?!" Jack shouted, holding onto Jun Jie's arm protectively. The monks looked to each other before Raimundo stepped forward.

"Sorry, Jack, we just…there was a serious surge of evil power here. Dojo felt it and, well, this guy does look…"

"So you're just going around, attacking people based on that crusty snake's hunger pains?" Jack spat back, tone all venom. Words failed Raimundo. He'd never seen Jack this furious before, in all the years he'd known him. With a heavy breath, he gave Jun Jie a deep bow.

"We apologize, we were greatly mistaken." He said, the other monks following his lead. Jack scoffed.

"Get the fuck out of here."

Some hours later, the two men were back at Jack's mansion. They had flown back in silence, having left right after the monks flew off on Dojo. Jack tossed his jacket on the floor, running a hand through his hair.

"I'm sorry about all that, I didn't want you to get involved in that mess…"

"Jack…" The tone made him freeze slightly before turning to look at Jun Jie. The man was wild-eyed and shaken. Jack stepped closer and felt his heart sink when Jun Jie flinched away. "I…I can't…"

"No… No, Jun Jie, wait…"

"I can't do this…" Jun Jie hurried past Jack, grabbing his luggage and started throwing his things in. "That was…that was too much. Jack, there was a dragon. A fucking dragon."

"I know, they won't come near you again, I promise! I can talk to them!"

"Talk to them?! Jack, no! I…I can't." He paused to look at him. "I can't."

Jack felt something in him crack. He watched, numbly, as Jun Jie finished packing his bag, grabbed plane tickets, and ordered a JackBot to drive him to the airport. Jack clung to him at the last moment, begged him to stay before being pushed off and onto his own floor. And as the door shut behind Jun jie, he knew.

It was over.

An hour later, that's where Chase found him. Sitting, hunched, staring at the door.
