"Spicer." Chase stood behind him, his tone even with no hint of its usual disdain. There was no response. He took leisurely steps around the young man, circling him to see his face. What he found was not what the immortal man was expecting.
Jack was staring at the door, his expression blank even as tears slipped loosely from his red-shot ruby eyes. He looked utterly broken. Chase frowned deeply, squatting in front of him and snapping his fingers once. The redhead blinked, eyes coming into focus hazily onto the warlord.
"…Chase?" Jack's voice cracked, hardly above a whisper, as if he didn't trust what he was seeing.
"What has gotten into you, Spicer?"
"I… he…he left me…"
"Left you?" Chase feigned ignorance, quirking a brow.
"Jun Jie, my b-… my ex…" Fresh tears started to well up in those crystalline eyes. "The monks, they…they fucking attacked him and then he…dumped me…" White hands came up, the shock finally having subsided as the heartbreak came to the forefront.
Chase scrunched his nose at the display but made no move to silence him. Jack would need to let this out if he was going to make this plan work. "The monks attacked him? Were you engaged in battle?"
"No! We were at my parents' fucking gala party, and they just came out of the goddamn sky and…and…" He rubbed his face, sniffling as anger started to seed. "I haven't even been to a Showdown in months!" The rant continued, Jack's anger burning enough to distract him from the hand that was gently rubbing his back. Chase allowed the younger man to go on until he was hoarse.
"I have a proposition that may interest you, Spicer." Chase said at length, once Jack had gotten himself calmed and his face cleaned up. The redhead looked over as he took a sip of water, raising a brow slightly. "As you have recently discovered, a new monk has joined the Xiaolin Temple. This Ping Pong is to become the Wudai Dragon of Wood."
"Wait, wood? I thought there were only four Wudai jerks, there's gonna be six of them?" Jack rubbed his face tiredly. Chase looked him over, taking in the younger man's appearance. In the two years since the redhead started pulling away from the Xiaolin-Heylin conflict, he had gotten taller and lost a portion of his baby fat. His hair had started growing out, the vibrant locks now brushing the tops of his shoulders. The dark black mark was still present on his face, but overall, he wasn't hard on the eyes.
"They don't have all six yet, and I would rather keep them from getting the Dragon of Metal amongst their ranks. Very little is known about this element, however."
"Huh…so, why do you need my help?"
"Dojo is the only one who can sense the elemental energies, he was reared for the specific purpose of being the guardian of the Wudai Warriors. While I can use my magic to spy on them, I want to get to the individual before the monks."
Jack let this information roll around in his head. He could be greedy, ask what was in it for him. But right now…right now, he wanted nothing more than to take away something from those self-righteous pricks.
"…alright, I'll do it." Chase grinned, feeling pleased with himself that his plan was now in motion.
