Jack was starting to feel pretty grateful for the distraction Chase had provided him with. It had been just over a week since the breakup, his personal projects had hit a snag and his company mostly took care of itself, so this gave him something to focus on. Chase had popped in once or twice to check in on his progress and had actually seemed interested in his ideas.

"So, what exactly will this robot do?" The warlord asked as he watched Jack from across the worktable. He studied how the young man was able to sit perfectly still, only his hands moving in minute motions to carefully strip and twine wires.

"It will be able energy to scan energy signatures," Jack said, craning his neck slightly to see the wires better as he worked. "I figure, all the Shen Gong Wu give off an energy signature that is traceable, so the Wudai powers should to."

"…Is that how you were able to find Shen Gong Wu after Wuya left?" Chase was able to keep the honest surprise he felt out of his voice, toning toward vague curiosity instead. He'd never really questioned how Jack had continued to participate in the hunt of the magical toys when he wasn't teamed up with someone with magical intuition before, but now…

"Yeah, I tried tagging Dojo for a bit after the first time but that didn't last long. After that, I did some testing and figured out how to trace the energy signature and made a tracker." Jack said offhandedly, capping the wires and laying them neatly inside the small robot.

"I see. And, it looks like a pigeon because…?"

"Camouflage…also, it's kind of a play on an internet joke." Chase didn't press for more details, able to tell from Jack's expression that the explanation would be lengthy. And it wasn't something he wanted to commit his time to.

The days passed, the birdbot proved to be a very successful tool for spying and scanning. Jack was able to collect a surplus of data and then did something he hadn't done in a few years. He started to grind on a project.

Chase teleported into Jack's workshop, becoming comfortable walking through the dimly lit robotics lab. Jack Spicer was sitting at a drafting table, furiously working on something while mumbling to himself. On the desk next to him, was a mirid of notes, a tablet, printed graphs, and Jack's old Shen Gong Wu tracker.

"Spicer." Chase greeted, stopping a foot or so behind him. The usual reaction was absent, in fact, there was no reaction. He frowned, sensing the feverish nature of the albino man's work. "Spicer!"

The louder calling of his name snapped Jack out of his focus, causing him to whirl around. His eyes were wild and bloodshot, heavy bags underneath. Chase frowned at the slight, but didn't manage to get a word in before Jack started talking.

"Chase! Perfect timing! I made huge progress!" He dropped his pencil on the floor, seeming to forget that he was holding it. "I compiled all the scans a data and I figured it out!"

Jack snatched one of the graphs off the desk, holding it up to Chase. "Okay, so when you look at the Wudai power energies, it looks like they're the same. BUT! But, if you look closer, they do have different qualities! SO, you've got the four main elements." Jack pointed to the four lines on the graph he was holding. "It looks like there'd be no place for the other two elements to go, BUT!"

The manic redhead dropped the paper, grabbing his tablet. He continued to speak as he typed. "It's just like medieval rainbows!"

"Medieval rainbows?" Chase managed before Jack was speaking a mile a minute again.

"Yes! You need a prism to see where wood and metal fit in! So, I did a ton of data analysis and I found that there are is a gap in the 'energy rainbow' that I can reconstruct to make up the energy of the Wudai Dragon of Metal." He showed Chase a line graph with little icons of the monks faces next to various colored lines, along with a dark line that matched the flow with a question mark next to it.

"With this, I can reprogram my old tracker to track down this guy!" Jack grinned, breathing a bit heavily to catch his breath. Chase looked over the graph, digesting the information before meeting Jack's gaze. He smiled, a wicked sight before taking the tablet and setting it down on the desk.

"This is very impressive, Spicer. I think this will give us quite the advantage. However…when was the last time you slept?" Jack blinked, his eyes burning slightly as he looked at Chase.

"Um…" He glanced at his watch, before cringing. "…Sixty-three hours?"

"And have you eaten anything?"

"Oh, I, uh…I made some mantou earlier. I had some of that. Oh, do you want some? They're your favorite right?"

Chase looked at Jack, gold eyes staring at the sleep-deprived young man. How did he know that? "That is…kind of you. Thank you, but you need to get your rest, Spicer."

Jack finally got up, Chase walking with him into the house to ensure the younger man did, in fact, eat something before he headed to bed. The warlord was quite surprised when Jack insisted that he take a portion of the mantou.

"I won't eat all of it in time." He insisted, actively falling asleep as he chewed. "Besides, it's your birthday."

The warlord was silent, his thoughts racing as he helped Jack get to bed before teleporting back to his mountain keep.
