In Class 1-A's classroom...
Midoriya stretched his arms up as classes wrapped up. Something about being in class felt more exhausting than usual. That could be because he was worried about how classes were going in Class 1-M.
With Lila Rossi.
He knew that AllMight could handle someone like her, but he still worried about what she might be saying or pulling in there. He at least hoped that she wasn't causing a scene with the others. Marinette was Class Rep., and he knew that she could handle things between them and Lila. He was at least glad that Zoe was taking classes here.
"Hey Izuku," Uraraka said to him with a big smile, "You look exhausted, and we haven't even started hero training yet."
"Yeah. I've just been wondering how AllMight is handling Lila," Midoriya said to her, "I'm sure she can be a bit of a hand full in class. I can't imagine what she was like back in Paris."
"I'm sure AllMight knows how to handle someone like her. Don't forget that he was the Symbol of Peace," Uraraka said to him.
"Yeah. I'm sure things are settling down pretty well," Midoriya said back, "Besides, it's not like she's going to pull anything during lunch."
Midoriya grabbed his school bag and was ready to head out. He noticed that his Miraculous was still on him, knowing full well that Lila never tried to take it away from him at any point. Midoriya and the others headed out of their classroom, feeling pretty hungry. As soon as they left, they noticed Class 1-M heading out as well.
Chloe spotted Bakugo right away and ran over to him to give him a side hug. He seemed to be fine with it and didn't make a big deal out of it. Midoriya noticed that they've been pretty casual about them dating. He didn't even to be bothered by them being together in school. He looked a little nervous, but that was about it.
Then everyone else came out with Marinette and Adrien keeping an eye on Lila. Zoe spotted Midoriya and ran over to him with a smile on her face.
"Hey Izuku! This so cool," Zoe exclaimed, "I can't believe that you get to do this all the time!"
Midoriya smiled back, glad to see her enjoying it here already.
"Yeah. It's pretty crazy here, but you get used to it," Midoriya said as he rubbed the back of his head.
"I don't know how you could ever get use to a place like this," Lila interrupted them as she walked over to Midoriya, "It's so big and has way too many people in a school like this. The quirks even seem a bit weirder than I expected."
Everyone stared at Lila and avoided her pretty quickly. Marinette and Adrien made sure that she didn't run off, and they all headed towards the cafeteria.
"Lila, can you at least be a little polite? We're not staying here for very long," Marinette asked her, trying not to stir up anything.
"Don't worry, Marinette. I'll be nice to these wannabe heroes," Lila said back, "Besides, when do you ever get the chance to meet people like this. But I wouldn't mind eating something from here with Izuku. Well, as long as he's okay with it of course."
Everyone was surprised that she wanted to sit with Midoriya, and he felt a little embarrassed that she even brought this up with everyone around. He really wanted to keep an eye on her, but he didn't think he'd be sitting with her during lunch. Then again, this might be the best time to get her to understand things better here.
Midoriya let out a sigh and felt a blemish form around his face.
"Fine. Lila, you can sit with me if you want to," Midoriya said to her.
"Really? Well, if you say so," Lila said to him, "As long as Ochaco doesn't get jealous of course. Don't worry Ochaco. I won't do anything with Izuku here. It's not like I'm going to take my lair or anything."
Uraraka felt her face heat up as she got closer to Midoriya. She couldn't help but think about the time when she kissed Midoriya back in the cave. She did it to take One for All, but still. She couldn't let Lila get to her, not like she use to. Uraraka tried to let Midoriya walk with him like they usually did as if Lila weren't even here.
Lila walked beside Midoriya, and he noticed her looking at his Miraculous dangling from his belt. Something about her gaze made him wonder what AllMight had mentioned in the classroom. Something about her seemed a little more relaxed as they walked over to the cafeteria. She didn't back away from him and stayed nearby. She looked like she was interested in the school a little more, which worried him. He didn't want her running off and lying to anyone she comes across. He really didn't want her ruining Class 1-M's reputation before they left to go home.
Lila was definitely going to be up to something soon enough.
They all walked to the cafeteria, and Midoriya talked to Zoe, Uraraka and Iida. He hoped that lunch today would go by pretty well with Lila around. He kept an eye on her, noticing that she wasn't talking much with anyone. He was glad that she wasn't stirring up anything with the other classmates. He couldn't imagine what she'd be like with Class 1-B or any other classmates for that matter. She was just walking alongside him, but glanced down at his Miraculous here and there. She never even tried to take it, she just seemed fascinated by it for some reason. He could barely look at her without her being suspicious of him.
He had somehow be sneaky about this just like her.
They all entered the cafeteria, and Midoriya explained to Lila and Zoe how you order. Even if they didn't have quirks, it should still boost their energy up quite a bit if they pick a certain ingredient. Lila seemed a little weirded out by this quirk, but was so hungry that she went for it.
Midoriya stood by Lila's side along with Uraraka, and Midoriya noticed Uraraka keeping an eye on her. Midoriya ordered Katsudon, and noticed Lila eyeing it. He remembered in that moment when he came over to see his mom at her apartment. He felt a little weird getting lunch with her after what she did to his mom. She soon ordered shrimp scampi, which caught Midoriya's attention. It looked really good, and he wasn't expecting her to grab something like that. She grabbed a pudding cup along with some sprite. He was at least that she wasn't causing a scene.
After they all grabbed their lunch, Lila followed Midoriya, Uraraka and Zoe to their seats. They ended up sitting with Iida, Todoroki, Kagami and Yaoyorozu. Midoriya sat down and somehow Lila sat between Midoriya and Uraraka. It felt a little awkward, but didn't mind dealing with her instead of Uraraka. Considering what happened earlier, he was glad that he could give Uraraka a break from her.
Something about Lila seemed more quiet than usual. Midoriya always thought that Lila was someone that talked a lot and didn't know when to stay quiet at times. Something about her seemed more relaxed, which made him feel better about having lunch with her. He knew that now was the time to get to know her better. He didn't know how to go about it considering she wasn't exactly someone that would actually have a genuine conversation with just anyone. But maybe she would open up to him for some reason. That made him feel a little warm, realizing that she's been a little flirty with him as of recently. He tried to shake it off and go back to his meal.
Then he noticed Lila getting annoyed with Iida. He sat across from her, and he kept looking at her like she might cause a scene at any moment.
"Uhh... Can you please tell your friend here to back off a little? He's kind of annoying me," Lila asked Midoriya.
Midoriya wanted to get along with her, especially since it might help him get through to her.
"Umm... Iida, maybe you should lay off a bit. It is lunch time after all," Midoriya asked him as he grabbed his chopsticks.
Iida backed off a bit and adjusted his glasses.
"Fine. But I still don't trust you," Iida said to Lila, "Just leave Midoriya's Miraculous and him alone. We don't want another sticky situation like last time."
"Geez, don't worry about it," Lila said back as she got ready to eat, "Is he always this strict? Please don't tell me that he's your Class Rep."
"Yes, he is Class Rep., which is why he's worried about me around you," Midoriya explained to her, "You should just give him a break. He's just looking out for his classmates."
"Fine. It's not like I care about your Miraculous anymore," Lila said back under her breath.
Midoriya noticed that and wondered what she meant by that. He noticed her eating her lunch and how good it looked. He had never had shrimp scampi before and just looking at it made his stomach growl. She took a bite, and her eyes lit up from how delicious it was. Something about seemed like a dish that meant something to her. He couldn't even remember a time when she looked at something with her eyes lit up like that.
"So, you like shrimp scampi? I've never had that before. Is it any good?" Midoriya asked her, trying to start a conversation with her.
He felt a little awkward trying to talk to her, but he felt like he had at least try to get to know her. It was the best way to be sneaky like her. She finished her bite of food, and he could tell that she didn't understand why he was talking to her.
"Yeah. It's pretty good, but it's not a big deal. It's just shrimp scampi," Lila said back, "Although I do eat a lot of pasta since I'm italian. I use to travel a lot to Italy with my mom so I'm use to really good quality pasta."
He could tell that some of his classmates didn't quite believe her, but Midoriya decided to give her a chance. The way she talked about it seemed more in the moment than anything else. Clearly it meant something to her, but she would never straight up admit it. Then again, it's not he's ever talked to her before. He still felt weird talking to her, but kept going.
"Really? What kind of pasta did you eat there?" Midoriya asked her.
He could tell that she was a littl confused as to why he even cared. For a moment, she seemed to drop her guard. Something about her eyes seemed less sly and much softer than usual. He was kind of interested in what she had to say at that point. He didn't have a lot of italian food, but he usually had it more as a restaurant dish with his mom. He realized that he finally found something that she might actually like.
For real this time.
"A lot of linguini. Raviolis are really good when they're made properly. Even chicken alfredo is really good when it's made with good quality cheese and freshly made pasta," Lila told him.
"Wow! All of that sounds really good," Midoriya commented with sparkling eyes, "You must miss Italy a lot."
His eyes sparkled, finally getting somewhere with her. He got hungry just talking about all of these amazing italian dishes. He wondered if he could somehow make something for her just to help her relax. Maybe even try to get her to stop going after Miraculous or anyone else for that matter. He just wanted to enjoy her time here before she leaves. He wanted her to leave this place feeling like she actually didn't mind staying for a bit longer. Maybe even understand this Japan more.
"My mom and I use to do it all the time, but then..."
Lila stopped in her tracks, and Midoriya noticed her regain her composure. Something about her seemed to get back to the way she usually is. He could tell that she slipped up for a moment and went back to pushing him away. He felt bad for her and didn't understand why she acted this way. Then he realized that she mentioned her mom and wondered if she had an estranged relationship with her for some reason. He could relate to that with his own dad since he knew nothing about him.
Midoriya noticed this and wondered if he should let her off the hook for now. He started to feel bad for her if that's why she acts this way.
"Sorry if I brought something up that bothers you," Midoriya said to her, "We can talk about something else."
Lila didn't say anything and kept eating her lunch. Midoriya watched her eating her pasta dish, and she seemed more distant with him. She didn't say anything as she kept eating. He felt bad for her and ate some of his katsudon. He wondered if he could get anything else out of her, but he decided to drop it for now.
"So, Mr. Yagi told us some interesting things about quirks," Zoe said to them, "I didn't know that there were so many different kinds. Like Momo, Ochaco and Shouto has an emitter type quirk, right?"
Yaoyorozu, Uraraka and Todoroki were surprised that she got it pretty quickly.
"Wow! I'm impressed," Yaoyorozu exclaimed, "You haven't even been here for that long, and you already know what types of quirks we have."
"Well, once everyone explained, it wasn't hard to narrow it down to a few of you," Zoe explained to them, "Like Tenya, is yours a mutant or a accumulation-type quirk? I couldn't tell between the two."
Iida was a little thrown off by the question, but he seemed to be really interested in her conversation.
"Well, my quirk is mutant since my engines aren't built in. I was born with this quirk, so that means these engines are a part of my quirk," Iida explained to them, "My older brother has the same kind of quirk but it's in his elbows, so I can see why you'd think its a accumulation-type quirk."
Midoriya noticed Lila look up, somewhat interested in the conversation. For some reason, she was pretty quiet however.
"Really? That's pretty interesting. I would've thought that your quirk was accumulation-type quirk because of that as well," Kagami said to him, "It's really interesting how different quirks are here. I never would've thought that there'd be so many different kinds."
"Yeah. Even I was surprised when I first came here to U.A.," Yaoyorozu said back, "Even if I was recommended to this school, it still threw me off a little bit. The Sports Festival was no joke either."
Midoriya realized that even Lila didn't know that. Yaoyorozu was recommended to this school, and Midoriya was surprised that this was her first time finding out about this. He hoped that she wouldn't take advantage of this in any way, but he didn't know what she would do with this sort of information. She didn't seem interested in all of this however, which worried him. He just hoped that she was more fascinated rather than trying to gain information to have over others.
"Really? You were recommended?" Zoe pointed out, "That's pretty cool! That must mean that you're pretty skilled and strong."
Yaoyorozu felt herself blush as Zoe kept commenting her.
"Oh well, maybe it a little," Yaoyorozu said to her a little nervously.
"Don't be like that Yaoyorozu. You're amazing!" Uraraka pointed out, "Her quirk is Creation. She can create any non living object through her skin, but she has to know what's made of and understand how it works in order to make it. It can be pretty useful, that's for sure."
"So like a rip off Ladybug?" Lila said without thinking.
Everyone looked up to see her playing around with her pasta. Midoriya noticed that Yaoyorozu looked a little thrown off, but not quite hurt by the comment. Todoroki checked on her, and she seemed to be okay with it. Uraraka looked at Lila and gave her piercing glare. Lila glared back, but didn't say anything. Midoriya looked at Lila and felt like she wasn't thinking about what she was saying in the moment. Zoe felt a little awkward and tried to keep the conversation going onto something else.
"So Izuku, AllMight even told us more about... your quirk," Zoe explained to him, but a little more secretive about it, "This quirk of yours. It sounds like something completely different from any other quirks. That's gotta feel pretty amazing to have such a special quirk."
Midoriya's eyes widened, realizing that AllMight had just told everyone in Class 1-M, including Lila about One for All. Something about that didn't feel right, especially since this was her first class here. Lila looked up, and she noticed his shocked expression. He didn't think he'd be talking this during lunch and definitely not in front of Lila.
"I-I... Well, this isn't something I usually talk about in public," Midoriya explained to them, "Whatever AllMight said to you, I'm sure he wants to keep this between all of us. He wouldn't just tell anyone since most of you already know about it."
Lila gave him a suspicious look which just made him even more nervous to have her around him. She looked down at his Miraculous, and he noticed her staring at it. He really hoped that she was thinking about taking it. She must've known that wasn't worth it and wouldn't work any way. Then again, he noticed her being suspicious of it earlier.
"This AllMight hero, he seems to know what he's doing," Lila said to them, "But he really should be careful who he tells this to. You never know when it might come back to bite you in the butt."
Midoriya's eyes widened in shock, like he was worried she might make a move. He couldn't tell if Lila was kidding or not, but he tried to calm down a little. After a moment, he knew that she was just testing him, at least he hoped that's all it was.
In the corner of Midoriya's eye, Uraraka looked like she couldn't take it anymore.
"Lila, what're you getting at?" Uraraka asked her, "If you're trying to get something out of Izuku, then you can stop now. This isn't something to mess with, and you fully know that."
"You think I don't know that? After everything I've been through, I'm not stupid enough to do it again," Lila said to her.
Lila gave her a dirty glare and sat there, not daring to move. She leaned in close, making Midoriya a little uncomfortable. She was this close to the Miraculous, but Uraraka stared back at there with the same dirty glare. Everyone looked at them a little nervously and hoped that none of them would cause a scene. This was not the time and place to be doing this, and even Bakugo and other classmates noticed them.
Lila soon let out a sigh and backed off from Uraraka.
"Whatever. It's not like I'm ever gonna get a quirk or Miraculous. I'm basically quirkless here," Lila said to them and then leaned into Midoriya, "Just like Izuku here once was. I can't imagine what that was like. To get a special quirk from the one and only Symbol of Peace. That must've been pretty amazing Izuku."
Midoriya felt a little uncomfortable talking to her so close, and Uraraka's eyes widened at how close she was getting to him. Uraraka tried to keep her away from him, but that just made things more awkward for Midoriya.
"Izuku, you should really be careful with a quirk like that," Lila whispered to him, "Your Miraculous may be gone, but your quirk is still up for grabs. You and AllMight should be careful who you trust."
Midoriya felt his stomach turn and chest tighten as Lila stayed close to him. Uraraka wrapped her arm around Midoriya and pulled him away from her. Lila backed off and grabbed her tray of pasta. She walked off and threw her tray away into the trash nearby. Some of Class 1-M's classmates were already walking off, including Marinette so she kept an eye on her as Lila left.
Midoriya for a moment locked eyes with Lila, and he could swear that she wasn't done yet.
He just hoped that it wasn't anything like last time.
Another amazing chapter!
I love where this is going! I like to point out that I accidentally got some chapters mixed up, so I had some chapters that had the same numbers, so I'm closer to the story wrapping up. I might make sure that it doesn't feel rushed or anything like that. I'm still happy with the way things are going with it. Lila and Midoriya have been fun to write for the most part. I really like the fact that I kind of rewrote Lila slightly. I made her more lonely if anything and that's why she lies a lot. I don't want to go into it that much just so I don't spoil anything, but I thought I'd make it more about that version of her. I just think it's more scaled down than what that show is doing, which I still is a bit ridiculous.
So don't expect Lila to be Cerise Bianca or go in that direction. That whole Cerise moment in the story was just a little nod/reference to the show's reveal.
What's going to happen next??
More to come soon!
