The Illusive man stood on the balcony of his ebony space station. A station that stands as the pinnacle of human technology. In the darkened room, one could still see edges of a luxurious suit and golden rings. However, despite all of his luxuries and his wealth, he could only peer into the vast cosmos with envious eyes.
"Sir," a woman's voice called out to him from his desk. "The board is ready to see you now."
"Good… Send them in," he said, not removing his gaze from the cosmos, as if it would disappear if he tore away from its gaze. He heard the chime and felt the light of many screens enlighten the room. He spoke.
"Gentlemen…" he said. "Long have been the days since humanity had lost its seat at the pinnacle of every species. After we conquered our solar system, we had thought ourselves at the top… How wrong we were."
There was murmurs behind him as he turned to the ten screens of silhouetted men. Walking towards them, he continued. "No more gentlemen," he said. "For I have found the key to our evolution."
Pressing a button on his desk, the sound of a the floor opens to reveal a cryogenic pod. In it, was a young man. He had spiky blonde hair, fair skin, and whisker marks on his cheeks. He wore a tattered orange and black jumpsuit.
"Are you saying this boy is the key for us to catch up to the rest of the galaxy?", one board member asked.
"No…" The man said as he removed his hand from the glass of the pod and looked at the many hidden screens of his investors.
"This boy is the key for us to surpass them."
[6 months later]
"Any progress Dr. Ling?", the Illusive man said.
"N-not yet sir," he said. "After preliminary trials of test the energy that exudes from his body, we have decided to unlock him from his chamber."
"Are you telling me that he has been awaken?"
"Yes, but only momentarily," the scientist explained. "We used a powerful sedative that put him in a coma like state. From this, we have been able to synthesize some of his blood to create a serum but the results have been… disappointing."
"How disappointing?"
"None of the subjects have survived the serum," he said. "All have either… exploded or have turned to what looks like stone frogs."
"Are these… human subjects?"
"No," scientist said. "We have only done animal trials."
"… try a few human subjects," the Illusive man said. "Take Subject Adam to Purgatory."
"Purgatory? That's where we keep Subject Zero," Dr. Ling questioned. "Isn't that a little dangerous sir. What if one of them escapes?"
"Are you telling me that our security is not capable to stopping a few subjects?"
"N-No! Sir!", he said. "I-I'll do it right away!"
"See to it Dr. Ling," the Illusive man said. With his piece said, he ended the transmission.
The doctor sighed, before looking at his subject. "We have no idea how dangerous the subject is and yet he wants to put him with the same facility as Subject Zero? Madness."
"What do we do sir?", one of his assistants asked.
"We do what he says," he said as he walked to the door. "We have no choice. Prepare a pod for transport. I'll be in my office if anyone needs me."
"Yes sir," they said as they left to do their task.
What they didn't know was that the young man was awake and had long awoken from his slumber, having burned off the sedative and has been discretely learning from the scientists for the past 3 months without any of them realizing.
'Subject Zero eh?', he thought as opened his eyes. "Seems like I'll have to postpone my escape."
Author's Note: Hello. I made this a little while ago between working on my Pokemon and Game of Thrones fictions. Hope you enjoy.
