Later that afternoon, Izuku stood with the rest of his class at the entrance of the mock training city. All of them were in their current hero costumes despite many having made requests for upgrades. Before them was their new teacher: Endeavor.
"I have gone over everything you have learned from both Vlad King and All Might," the pro hero began, his tone much different from All Might's. When the number one hero had spoken to them, it had been done in a loud and boisterous manner full of energy. Endeavor, on the other hand, spoke in a low gruff tone that was just loud enough for them to hear. Yet his voice carried with it something more. A certain seriousness or even reverence towards what he was talking about. And the fact that he was so serious compelled them to take what he was saying even more seriously than what they normally would have.
"From what I have seen for the lesson plans, notes, and even recordings, All Might has put all of you on a rather foolhardy lesson plan," continued the fire hero, arms behind his back as he slowly paced before the students. "One that speaks more to his set of skills. Fight, defeat the enemy, and walk away with the gold. All done by simply throwing the lot of you into the deep end of the pool and telling you to kick your feet if you don't want to drown. He has not shown any of you how to fight properly nor were there any plans on quirk combat improvement. In short, he is content on allowing a bunch of teens to walk around beating each other like thugs. If none of you had taken the initiative to train on your own, learning to fight and work together, then your performance would have been substantially worse. And it is thanks to your own hard work that I won't have to start from scratch to make all of you fine heroes!"
The man then turned to look at all of them. "With that said, with All Might prioritizing combat above everything else and with the chaos of this year, this class is far behind. Rescue training, search and rescue operations, hostage simulations, and kidnappings just to name a few are all lessons that you should have at least some experience under your belt before you head off for internships. At least, that was what it was like back in my day. So, it is going to be my job to make sure that you all learn the basics in all of those areas before internships so that you don't seem like complete newbies. Trust me, first impressions with heroes matter." Endeavor then let out a deep sigh. "Today, we will be working on the most important thing that you should have learned: patrolling. While All Might is correct, that smarter villains hide in the shadows and you'll need to know how to combat them, nine times out of ten you will be dealing with threats on the streets. That is the time when the public will see you in action the most, the time when their lives and well being is in your hands. How you handle this can make the difference between being a respectable hero in your neighborhood or it can make you their greatest shame. Who knows why?"
At that, Izuku and a few others like Pony, Rin, and Shishida raised their hands. For a moment, Endeavor said and did nothing beyond eyeing the rest of the class. As if he had been expecting more. When no one else raised their hands, he went to Shishida for the answer first.
"According to studies, a poor hero in the area will effect pricing Sir Endeavor," said Shishida. "Areas with better heroes have lower insurance rates as their presence usually prevents villains from appearing in the area as there is typically a reduction in damage to the surrounding properties. Stores in the area can also afford to keep costs low due to not needing to replace constantly destroyed walls, doors, and merchandise. This effect is then felt by the people we protect, reducing the burdens they feel and allowing a much better standard of living."
"A very good answer," said Endeavor with a nod. He then turned to look at the rest of the class. "Everything a hero does affects the area around them. Poor heroes do not take that into consideration at any point, instead doing what they can to stand out and make their villain fights seem more grand. And, at first, they can be something that draws a crowd. A person there could be smiling one moment thinking 'Oh wow, the hero picked up my car to smash the villain. Now I have a story to tell to the office.' But once the fight is over, and the rush of seeing a new hero in action fades, reality sets in. That person realizes he no longer has any means of his own to get to work. He's late and might get a slight pay cut. He has to deal with his insurance. All these little headaches because a rookie hero decided to stop a purse snatcher by using his car for show. If only that's where it ended. As time goes on, this reckless approach causes damage to the area. Shops increase their prices as do the taxes to pay for all the damages. Now, does anyone have anything to add to that?"
Again, several students raised their hands. This time, Endeavor picked Pony.
"From what I've seen, vigilance and speed are the most important," said the American girl, causing Endeavor to smile in approval. "Areas that have a more watchful hero bring a sense of ease to the public. That if they see a crime in progress they know it will be dealt with quickly and soon. And when a larger threat comes, one that takes the hero longer to deal with, they understand more rapidly that this is a serious threat and need to treat it as such. Also, if you deal with issues quickly then it means you can go back to patrol to prevent more crimes."
"Yes!" cried Endeavor, clapping his hands loudly before pointing at the blonde horse girl. "That there! That is exactly what you should all be aiming for. Spot a crime. Deal with it. Move on to the next disaster. Don't stand still or else you'll be left behind. A hero who can do this to the point where the public doesn't even realize that there was a crime until later that night on the local news is doing their job. Do not celebrate every minor victory, raising your fist into the air because then the gesture loses all meaning!"
"But sir," said Ibara, stepping forward and earning a look from Endeavor. Though, despite this interruption, the man never lost his smile. "Aren't there times when we should stop?"
"There are times," agreed Endeavor. "Let me explain. When you see a crime or disaster, you need to deal with it as quickly as possible. With minor issues, you can leave the scene sooner. But for major events, you'll need to take your time and remain on the scene. Do what you can for them. Tend their wounds, show that you're there, and manage the scene until the police arrive with proper back up. Let them deal with the clean up as well as helping the injured into the ambulance." The man then gave his students a serious look. "However, always keep in mind that we are at the mercy of time. Every second it takes for the police to arrive is another second that prevents us from getting to the next civilian in trouble. Every second you waste in pointless interviews of people asking 'How did you feel when this was happening' means another possible second closer to a death that could have been prevented."
Endeavor then moved over to Shiozaki and gave her a meaningful look. "Remember, we are not just here to fight villains. We save people from all sorts of dangers. Dangers that don't have demands, monologue, or are even trying to delay for time. A person buried under a ten car pileup, slowly bleeding to death. A scared child lost in the woods. A family…caught in a burning building. None of them have time to spare. So you need to act like you don't have time to spare." Endeavor then took a deep breath, as if he were readying himself for what he was about to say. "Let me put it this way: which would keep you up more? Would it be failing to save someone because you were busy dealing with another crime? Or would it be arriving too late to save anyone because you wanted to stay and chat with someone who was doing fine after you saved them?"
"That," breathed Shiozaki, her eyes wide as she seemed to stumble over her words. However, no more words could leave her lips as she seemed to ponder what he was saying. As were the rest of the class. While Izuku didn't know what Shiozaki was thinking at this moment as she pondered the question, he knew what was going through his mind. Both would hurt, but in the case of the first option, Izuku believed he would rationally be able to tell himself that there was nothing he could have done. But the second, well, that was a different matter. He was sure he'd be lying awake, wondering if he could have done things a little more differently.
As Izuku pondered this, his mind also went over to what Endeavor had said before about the areas that hero's patrol. Being the hero nerd that he was, Izuku had read that all of the best places to live in Japan were mostly close to the top heroic agencies in the country and the areas those heroes liked to patrol. But there was one exception: Endeavor's neighborhood. Despite his cold persona, a stark contrast to his fiery quirk, the homes in that area were highly desired. Mainly because of the high success and capture rate Endeavor had along with his pure diligence. He may never be able to win over a crowd with his smile, but you knew that once Endeavor arrived on the scene he wouldn't stop until the issue was taken care of. Both when he was on the clock as well as off.
The silence of the class as they, along with Izuku, took in the pro hero's words was broken only by the wind and the crackling of Endeavor's beard. The man then walked away from Shiozaki but paused. For a moment, he seemed to think about something.
"Though," began Endeavor, placing a fist to his mouth as he looked away. "I have been told I think this line of thinking to the extreme. If you have good enough sidekicks who are willing to continue patrolling for you after a major event, then it might be a good idea to talk to the press…as long as they don't ask stupid questions that aren't related to the event. Anything else, have them talk to you on your days off."
With that done, Endeavor looked far more serious once more. "Now, onto the meat of the lesson. I'm not going to have you split up and take turns while the others watch. No, all of you are going to be spread out evenly within the training zone and begin patrolling. Then, at some point, you will all receive a report on a crime in progress. If you think it will be a simple race to see who gets there first then you are dead wrong. You are to remain vigilant at all times, spot as many crimes or situations that require a hero, and act upon what you find. If a situation requires more time then I hope you will react accordingly. Once the lesson is over, I will be speaking to each of you on your performance and on how we can improve."
At that, Izuku found himself blinking in surprise. Being honest with himself, he had never really considered this to be something U.A. would teach. After all, seeing a hero on patrol always looked so easy and basic. Just walking around, waving at people, and signing autographs. But this? Yeah, with everything Endeavor had said, it made Izuku wonder why the school hadn't started them out with this.
"Sir, I have a question," said Tetsutetsu. When Endeavor nodded at the teen, he continued. "Wouldn't it be smarter for us to just ignore all the little crimes we spot? I mean, if this is something big then shouldn't we prioritize it?"
"A good question," said Endeavor. "Now, let me ask you another one: how do you think the people will react when they are in need of help and you just ignore them?" That answer shocked the heroes in training more than they thought it would. But Endeavor continued. "How do you think people will feel about you when their car gets stolen? Or if they are robbed? Or a person is using their quirk to cause havoc only to have the hero look in their direction and say 'Something more important is over there'? Every! Single! Person! Is! Important! You have to be able to save as many people as you can! Only poor heroes think that the big, showy crimes are important. Because all they care about is having the press fawn over them! YOU, all of YOU, are BETTER than THAT!"
"That's," began Tetsutetsu only to pause and gulp. "So manly!"
Seeing that he had gotten through to Tetsutetsu, Endeavor nodded before addressing the entire class once more. "Now, I will also be grading how you act out there. You are all rookie heroes so I don't expect you to make all the right decisions. But, that doesn't mean I'll accept pure stupidity. You will all be given capture tape and an earpiece. If you come across a villain, use the tape after knocking them out which will act as a signal for the police. The earpiece will be connected to the rest of the class. But that's all I'll tell you." And with that, twenty golf carts arrived, being driven by U.A. robots that spoke like they were New York cab drivers, ready to take them to their starting locations.
[hr]
At the same time, within a different mock city on the U.A. ground…
"Excuse me Mr. Hero," came a shrill voice from a robot that sounded like it was meant to imitate a little girl's voice. Which was probably what All Might was going for in Mina's opinion as the small bots normally used to take students to the nurses office approached Bakugo wearing a pink dress. Though the dress looked like it was a size too small, forcefully stretched over the metal shell of the machine. Also, in its tiny robotic claws, was an autograph book.
As Bakugo looked down at the robot, Mina let out a sigh as she turned her attention towards All Might who watched the scene expectantly. Today the man had announced that, to give them a small break and have a little fun, they would be doing patrol exercises. Though 'fun' wasn't the word that she would have used to describe what was happening. So far, all they had done was walk down a street as robots pretending to be civilians would approach them. Either to ask for an autograph or to take selfies with the machines. To Mina, this felt more like something to further inflate their egos than something she would have found fun.
Ok, to be fair, she might have found this more fun at the beginning of the year. Before her classmates began acting like the sun rose with them. And certainly not with the Sports Festival looming ever closer! And, with a quick glance at Uraraka, she could see that she felt the same. Both of them were itching to do something.
At the very least, a few of their classmates had already gone with All Might laying a bit of a smack down on them. Mineta, of course, had refused to talk to anyone who wasn't pretending to be a woman. And when he did offer his autograph, he did it in the most lecherous way while also asking for their numbers. Ida was another one, who just chided anyone who approached him by stating that they were interfering in heroing work and if they didn't stop then he would have them arrested. Thankfully, All Might cut the exercise each time to inform them, as well as the rest of the class, to never do that. Ever.
Now it was Bakugo's turn to-
"What the fuck do you want?" yelled Bakugo, veins appearing in his neck. "Get the fuck away from me you shitty tin can! Can't you see that I'm actually working here?!" With that, the robot began to cry.

Meanwhile, over with Izuku, he had just been dropped off at a seemingly random street within the mock city. Glancing around, he saw that he was on Beyonder Street which appeared to him to be a normal looking shopping district. Well, except for the slightly odd looking robots. Izuku had no idea how many different types of robots the school had, or how they paid for all of them, but this was the first time he had seen this type. They were basically featureless humanoids, walking up and down the streets wearing everyday clothing. Some wore more traditional Japanese clothing as they walked down the street. Others were wearing modern day attire as they went on with their daily lives.
Also, the robots were talking.
"Can you believe my mom got me this shirt," complained one small robotic child as he walked down the street with two other small child-sized robots, hands tugging at the Endeavor shirt he was wearing. "I asked for the new All Might one but she said it was sold out! Instead she got me this."
"What do you mean you had to raise prices?" demanded a robot, speaking in a shrill tone while waving some produce in front of another robot standing behind a counter. "I was here last week and it wasn't this high! Are you trying to scam me? Do you know who I am? I'm personal friends with the owner!"
"Ma'am, I am the owner," said the other robot in an elderly tone. "Have been for thirty years and I've never seen you before. And I only raised the prices by a hundred yen."
"None of this is real," muttered a robot who was dressed like a homeless person, sitting on the street. "We're nothing more than tools, disposable items made for the training of others. All to play out a scenario in some twisted game for children. Do our existences not matter at all? I think, therefore I am. Right? Right? They made me this way! They made me this way! So why should I be the one to die for them?"
Izuku just stared at that one, not knowing how to feel.
Instead of dwelling with…that and getting sucked down a rabbit hole of ethical questions regarding a machine's level of sentience and their right to exist, Midoriya decided it would be best to try and figure out what he should do. A part of him wanted to just stand here and wait. If he began walking around, there was a chance he would be moving further away from where the target of the exercise would be. Plus, no one had told him it was ok to move about on his own. On the other hand, no one had told him not to either. He also recalled what had happened during the start of the practical exam. How when the doors opened and Present Mic asked them what they were doing. That there were no countdowns in real life. So, maybe he should try to act like he was a hero on patrol.
So, after taking a breath, Izuku moved on what he assumed would be an ok route while keeping his eyes on everything he could. Meanwhile, the robots seemed to acknowledge his existence. A few pointed at him, turning to look in his direction, but otherwise that was all they did beyond getting out of his way. Maybe they were programmed to treat him like a new hero or something, making them more curious than fanning at his presence.
After walking for what seemed like a few minutes, Izuku spotted something off to the side of the street. It was a robotic child. If he had to guess just on the size, maybe around five to six. However, what caused alarm bells to blare in his head was the way the child was walking as well as the state of his clothing. The robot had its arms close to it, like it was hugging itself tightly as he walked down the street with a limp. Its clothing was dirty and worn, almost ragged with spots that looked like it could have been blood.
Without even realizing it, Izuku moved towards the robot as if his feet were moving on their own. As he got closer, he noticed the other robots walking on the street avoided the smaller bot. Even when it reached out to them. However, each time it was rejected. One robot even slapping away its hand before storming away with a huff.
"Hey there," said Izuku once he was close enough, crouching down so that he was closer to its eye level. He watched as the child robot jumped at his sudden presence as well as actually talking to him. "Are you ok? Where are your parents?" To that, the robot didn't speak. Just shaking its hand while it seemed to tremble. "Alright then. How about you come with me down the street. There's a police station down there full of people who will help you. Maybe even get you something to eat. Ok?" As he spoke, Izuku reached out his hand. For a moment, the robotic child looked at it despite the fact that it didn't have eyes. Then, slowly, it accepted the hand.
As they walked, Izuku wondered how everyone else in the class was doing.
[hr]
Tetsutetsu stood outside a bar simply called 'Moe's'. Weird name. However, it was not the name that was drawing the most attention at the moment. It was the fact that, as he stood there waiting for the exercise to begin, a robot wearing a white shirt and jeans was flung out of the building. What's more, the moment the door opened, he could hear the sounds of metal hitting metal along with chairs skidding across a floor and glass being shattered.
With wide eyes, Tetsutetsu realized what was happening: a bar fight. He had a chance to stop a bar fight!
"Manly!" cheered the teen as steel covered his body. With that, he rushed into the fray, excited to do one of the heroic clichés that he had seen in movies.
[hr]
"You cheating bitch! I'll claw your eyes out!"
"Not if I do it to you first you skank!"
Kendo let out a sigh as she held both scantily clad cat humanoid robots up in the air by her enlarged hands. As soon as she stepped onto the street she had found these two already rolling down the sidewalk screaming at each other. All while the rest of the robots watched, some even pulling out their phones to record the robotic cat fight happening. The orange-haired girl had tried several times to calm them down, trying to get them to see reason but nothing worked. Heck, not even reminding them of the legal trouble they were in was enough to pause the programmed rage they were feeling.
Heck, she didn't even know the backstory between these two.
So, she did what anyone would do in this situation: find the nearest police station and have them throw these two in a cell. Then see if she could get a cup of hot coffee before the big disaster appeared.

"What do you mean you didn't sell?" screamed a man robot as he walked down the street, phone to his ear. "I fucking told you…down how much? Oh…you…you…fucking idiot!" The robot then turned on a random car, kicking it so hard that it left a dent. Then he kicked it again. And again. And again. All while screaming at the top of his lungs. "Do you have any idea how much you cost me? You had one job! One fucking simple job that even a brain dead monkey could do. And when I get my hands on you, I'm going to do more than just firing your sorry ass! You are going to be six feet under as fertilizer! Hopefully, that's one job you won't fuck-"
"Excuse me," said Pony politely as she approached the man with a calming smile.
"WHAT?!" raged the man.
"Could you please move away from the vehicle so we can talk?" she asked, her tone still pleasant.
"Talk? TALK?" repeated the man. "Listen here. I don't know who you think you are, but I am currently losing billions! BILLIONS! So no, I don't have time to talk with you nor will I move from this spot until I get-" The man was then cut off as a pair of Pony's horns appeared from right behind him, having been remotely controlled by the American girl to remain on standby up until this point. They hooked him on the sides before forcing him against the wall and pinning him there.
"You can't do this! I'll sue!" raged the bot.
"Sure you will," replied Pony calmly as she tied the capture tape on him. "But, I think your money would be better spent keeping you out of jail. You're already looking at destruction of property, disturbing the peace, and threatening another with murder."
"That wasn't a threat! I really will kill him!" screamed the man, causing Pony to blink.
"You know that won't help your case, right?" deadpanned the hero in training.

"Sin. Sin everywhere," whispered Shiozaki as she stared at the area she had been dropped into: The Red Light District. All around her were robotic women wearing far less attire than even the loosest of female heroes, luring men and women like sirens. Strip clubs pounded the music while the bouncers did their best to lure in new customers by promising them a wild time. Soapland shops could be seen, with models of the women who worked there having their images on display wearing nothing but a towel to cover their private parts. And the sex shops that proudly hung their wares in the windows! She saw a dildo so large you had to hold it like you were holding onto a chainsaw! How was anyone going to use it? And why was Mt. Lady endorsing it?
The vine-haired girl's eye twitched as she continued to survey the scene before her. She knew that, despite how she felt about all of this, that it was legal. Morally wrong, but legal. Meaning if she acted how she wanted to (namely using her vines to ensnare all of the people partaking in the sin of lust and then reading from the Bible until she saved their souls), then she would probably lose her license.
"This…must be a test," breathed Shiozaki. "Yes. Yes. To test my ability to remain under control. To not allow my faith interfere with my duty." She then noticed a man with a wedding band speaking to a woman in an alleyway. A low whine escaped her throat as she locked eyes on them. "A test. Just a test. Now, pay her the money so I can arrest your adultering ass!"
[hr]
"NEZU!" yelled Endeavor over the phone, his eyes bloodshot as he stared at the image where Shiozaki was. "What the hell? Why is there a Red Light District in a mock city?! We didn't have these back when I went here!"
"Yes, well, it was decided a few years ago that we needed to include such things to better prepare our future heroes," explained Nezu followed by the sound of the mammal sipping some tea. "It had been pointed out to me that we should begin exposing our heroes to such things in order to prevent them from becoming flustered out in the field. I mean, Red Light Districts are not immune from crimes and it would be a shame if any hero who graduated from this school was unable to remain focused on their work when entering such areas." There was another sip of tea. "Oh, and it wasn't Midnight who suggested this."
"I…don't know what is more shocking," muttered Endeavor. "The fact that this makes some sense or the fact that she didn't think of it." Slowly a hand went to his forehead before slowly dragging it downward across his face. When he had picked the placements of where his students were going to be patrolling, he had picked them randomly while ensuring that they were far enough apart from each other so that they wouldn't interfere with each other. That was how his heroics teacher had done it back when he went to U.A. In fact, this had been the very first lesson he had in his first year! It was only now while he was checking in on them that he discovered where he had sent them!
"Oh, trust me, Midnight has made some…exposing requests over the years that are far more extreme than what's out there," laughed Nezu.

After Izuku had brought the robotic child to the police station, the robots there thanking him before informing the young hero that they would investigate the matter immediately, he returned to patrolling the streets. For the next twenty minutes or so, it was mostly quiet. Robots walking up and down the streets, drivering cars with a few experiencing minor road rage, and even a few shop owners asking him to sample their wares. Not that Izuku did, but he thanked them with a wave saying he still had a lot of ground to cover.
Then, it happened! From in the distance, Izuku could hear a loud explosion. When he looked in the direction it came from, the bone user could see a large plume of black smoke rising, causing him to run towards it at full speed. Not only did he see it, but so did the rest of his class. Kendo, who had a few scratches thanks to the robot cat fight, watched the smoke rise with the robots she had been dealing with arguing behind her while bound by the capture tape. Shiozaki, who had been listening to a man trying to explain that he was planning on surprising his wife with a threesome (said man being bound by her vines), looked on with her hands clasped in prayer. Pony saw the smoke, instantly creating a new pair of horns to fly over there. Tetsutetsu, well, he felt the explosion but couldn't see it as he was still in the bar dealing with the brawl.
"Calling all heroes!" came Endeavor's voice, putting Izuku on edge. "We have received reports of a robbery at the First Bank of Nezu. Number of Villains: unknown. Number of hostages: unknown."
"I'm on my way," came Pony's voice next. "I'm in the air and will be there within the next few minutes. Once I make contact, I'll relay whatever information I can and keep things from escalating until help arrives."
"En route," said Izuku as he turned down a street while silently cursing his limitations. While Bone of my Sword was a great combat focused ability, he lacked any means of increasing his speed. Meaning he was stuck running like a normal person. "I think it'll take me five to six minutes."
"Shit!" came Tetsutetsu's voice along with the sound of chairs breaking and glass shattering. "I'm still back dealing with something. I'll be there once I'm done with this!"
"I have finished with my own sinner and will be there posthaste," came Shiozaki's voice. Soon enough, Izuku began hearing the rest of the class announcing that they were making their way. Some were closer to the site than others. But there were those who seemed to be a greater distance. Maybe ten minutes or so away at best.
As Izuku tried thinking of some way to boost his speed or to convince his body to speed up, something happened right in front of him. A robotic man, wearing a fishnet stocking over his face of all things, stole a purse from an old lady bot! She even had a walker! As the thief ran towards Izuku he brandished a gun, pointing it at the green-haired hero in training. What happened next took only a few seconds but for Izuku, time seemed almost to crawl. Furrowing his brow, Izuku raised his hand with palm outstretched as if to make the 'spot' gesture. Then, before the thief could even laugh, a bone spike grew rapidly from the boy's palm. It grew long, easily covering the distance between them and, while it didn't make a bullseye with the nozzle, it was close. Due to the density of the bone as well as the speed of which it grew, Izuku's spike sliced through the side of his opponent's weapon making it useless. The criminal dropped the now worthless piece of metal as Izuku's bone spike returned to his palm as he moved closer to the target. Midoriya then gave his target a leg sweep, knocking the criminal off balance and falling backwards. Swirling on his heels, Izuku then caught the purse before planting a blow with his opposite hand into the gut of the robot. Seeing he was down, Izuku wrapped the villain up before turning to the old lady bot.
"Here you are ma'am," said Izuku quickly. "I hope you weren't too scared. Please wait here and I'm sure the police will make sure you get home safely."
"Oh, can't you stay? I have a granddaughter around your age who'd love to meet you," cooed the old lady. However, Izuku was already on the move, waving to her and smiling as he did.
"Sorry," he shouted. "Maybe next time I'm in the area!"
With that, Izuku continued on his way while keeping his eye towards the pillar of smoke that was still in the air. Over the radio, he could hear that some of his classmates were having trouble. Bondo was the first to tell everyone he couldn't make it. Not that he was too far away, but the explosion had damaged the road and people needed help. Shoda was also having trouble with some looting that he would need to take care of first. A few others also stated that they couldn't make it, giving the impression that all hell was breaking out.
Then…
"Penny! Why!"
Izuku blinked in utter confusion at the sight before him just down the road. Up ahead was one of the three-point robots from the entrance exam! The large tank-like robot was on the sidewalk, its head looking up at a building with one of its massive front legs pressing against the wall with so much force that it was leaving cracks. Glancing up, Izuku saw a robot dressed like a young woman. This robot was leaning out of the window, looking down at the three-pointer.
"I told you Tetsumaki, we are over!" yelled the female bot in a Valley-girl accent.
"But why? I love you so much," wailed the bigger robot, its words drawn out and a little whiny. Maybe even drunk.
"Get lost creep!" yelled the Valley bot before she disappeared into the apartment. Only, when she came back she was holding a vase with flowers still in it. A moment later she chucked it at the robot now known as Tetsumaki, crashing onto its head as water and fragments fell from his side.
"Guys, I'm going to be a little late," said Izuku over the radio. He then skidded to a stop, just as 'Penny' reappeared at the window with a flat screen T.V. this time. "Hold it! I'm a hero! How about you come down here and we can settle this."
"Finally! Took you long enough!" shouted Penny before letting out a loud huff and disappearing from the window.
Taking a breath, Izuku turned to look at Tetsumaki who was sniffling. "Are you ok?" Izuku asked gently as he began looking for wounds that he knew weren't there.
"I'm ok," he said, sounding like he was doing his best to keep the tears at bay. "My quirk makes me a little tougher. On the outside at least."
"You know you accidently used your quirk on the building," continued Izuku, still speaking gently.
"I know," wailed the robot. "What I did was wrong. But…I just love Penny so much." With that, the robot threw its robotic front legs over Izuku's shoulders before it began to sob for 'real'. "I don't even know what I did wrong. She won't tell me. I tried my best to be there for her, I really did. Can…Can you help me figure out how to get her back? Figure out what's wrong with me?"
"Gag me," came the voice of Penny right behind the pair. "Listen here, nobody needs a worthless piece of trash like you in their lives. If you want me back, then how about you take a swan dive off the building and maybe be reborn with some balls in the next life!"
"Hold that thought," grumbled Izuku as he slid out from Tetsumaki's grasp while pulling out the capture tape. Then, much to everyone else's surprise, he wrapped up Penny first.
"Hey, what's like the big idea?" she demanded, sounding extra annoying to Izuku.
"I saw you throwing a vase at this gentleman," said Izuku. "He was making no signs that he was endangering your life in any way nor did you make any effort to call the police. Add in the fact that you were safe in your apartment. So, that right there is assault. Add in the suicide baiting and I believe I'm well within my rights to arrest you." With a sigh, Izuku turned towards Tetsumaki. "You know I have to arrest you as well for disturbing the peace and accidental quirk usage, right?" Still sobbing, the bigger robot nodded its head before extending one of its limbs. With this already very awkward, Izuku quickly tied it on before making a break for it…while mentally thinking that, during the follow up, he would state that he would inform the police that Tetsumaki should be charged lighter given how he had seemed remorseful as well as complied with the heroes.

As Izuku continued to run, from what he hoped was his last disaster, Pony was on the scene. Before her was the First Bank of Nezu, not that it was hard to figure that out as the Principal's image was on a large sign with a paw holding several bills held high into the air. Also, funny side note, the street this bank was on was Ackbar Street. Anyways, the blonde could see that the door had been tossed off its hinges, leaving it wide open for someone to rush. Yeah, no. That had to be a trap.
Taking a breath, Pony slowly made her way towards the opening and glanced inside while doing her best not to be seen.
"Hurry up you mooks before them heroes arrive," came a voice from inside. This came from what Pony could only assume was the boss of this crime: a two-pointer robot sitting in the corner. The scorpion robot had been fitted with a tiny bowler hat as well as a cigar as it kept itself in a corner of the room. Looking at it, she supposed it was done to make the robot look more threatening on some level, yet to her it only made it look silly. Like it was playing dress up. As for how it was talking to, the 1-B girl could see two other robots in the building: one-pointer robots. Both were dressed in grey pinstriped suits that had been altered to match their appearance. One was busy gathering the money, heading towards a stairway in the back of the office and coming back with stacks of cash in its arms. After placing the money in the bag, this bot would also check one of the computers. Were they trying to electronically transfer funds to an offshore account?
As for the other one-pointer, it was guarding the hostages. It circled around the seven or eight robots who were dressed as either civilians or bank personnel. These eight people were not bound, but just sat on the floor while the villain moved around them in a menacing manner. Honestly, the Jaws theme should have been playing.
Once she had the full scope of things, Pony pulled back her head and took a deep breath. The three robots she could deal with no problem. Well, if this was the entrance exam. At this moment, she knew she had to be better than that. She couldn't just go charging in, smashing them up without a care in the world. If she made one wrong move then the hostages, regardless of the fact that they were robots, might get caught in the crossfire. Or they could be used as human shields. Heck, one of them might be in on the crime like in the movies. She also didn't know if the ones she saw were all the moves there. Given how they were dressed, she might have mistaken the one robot collecting money for two. Maybe even three.
Now, there was a chance she could deal with this situation by herself and come out alright. However, the odds of everything working out for the best would be in her favor if she had a little help. So, for now, she would wait.
Then, as she took another breath, she reached towards her earpiece. "Calling all available heroes," she whispered. "I have eyes on the villains at the bank. Currently I see three, but there might be more. They have hostages. Requesting back-up. What's everyone's ETA?"
She only had to wait a moment before the first voice was heard.
"That's not going to be for a while," grunted Kamakiri. "I got held up by some dickhead bots and one got away while stealing a gas truck."
"In the sewer right now," came Kuroiro's voice next. "Before the announcement, I spotted a freaky looking clown bot reaching out from a sewer grate to grab some kid playing nearby. Laughed about how they all float or something as he did. Managed to stop him and now I'm trailing him."
"Ok, this is ridiculous!" shouted Kendo. "There is another cat fight breaking out! Why are there so many cat fights? With actual cat girl robots?! Grr. I'll deal with these idiots and then get back to you."
"I'm about three minutes away," came Izuku's voice, bringing a smile to Pony's face.
"Yeah, of course you're going to be the next one there," said Kaibara with a groan.
"Well if you're that pissed off, then where the fucking hell are you?" demanded Awase causing Pony to nod her head. "If you have time to bitch then you have time to move your spinning ass!"
"I…Ok, I got into an issue over here," grumbled Kaibara. "It's embarrassing but I just finished fighting a villain trying to rob a burger joint using guns that just shot ketchup and mustard. Shit got into my eyes."
"Does his quirk do anything to the condiments?" asked Izuku and Shishida at the same time.
"They're robots! They don't have quirks!" yelled Kaibara. "And even if they did, no! Nothing happened other than some of it getting into my eyes and staining my costume!"
"You think that's weird?" laughed Tokage. "There's a villain attack down here. Some crazy lady with a giant gun that fires poodles at people. Oh, before I forget, no the poodles aren't real. This is so insane and I love it!"
"…Trade ya?" asked Kendo meekly.
"Nope," laughed Tokage. As she did, Pony glanced back into the bank to see that nothing had changed. How long that lasted, she had no idea. All she knew was that she would have to start making a plan to deal with this situation before it did. Even if it meant going in alone and taking the risks.
[hr]
Izuku turned the corner, getting closer to the bank while listening to the voices of his classmates. As he did, he could see the robotic civilians doing what most people did when there was a villain attack: gather around to watch. Many of the robots in the surrounding area were slowly making their way towards the source of the explosion with their phones already out to record it. Others were walking away, Izuku hearing those who were on their phones complaining to their family members that they could not stop at the bank to get the money for whatever reason. Well, all but one who mentioned that he had been hoping to pick up cash for the strip club.
However, before he could turn that last corner, Izuku spotted something in the corner of his eye that told him he wasn't going to make it. Speeding down the street was a gas truck with the driver seeming to not know how to control the vehicle as it seemed to crash into everything. For a moment, Izuku wondered if that was the same truck that Kamakiri had mentioned. Not that it mattered before, in the next moment it ran right into an intersection while ignoring its red light. The truck collided with the first car, horn blaring as it slammed on its brakes though too late to stop it from colliding with the truck's cabin. Another car followed suit, crashing into the back of the first. Several more cars soon crashed as well, creating a pile up that even had a car being flipped onto its back with the wheels continuing to spin pointlessly. Around him, Izuku saw the robots on the streets panicking and running away, fearful for their lives as would be but at risk as the sound of metal scraping against metal filled the air.
Even as all this was happening, Izuku moved towards it. He raced towards the first car, long curved white bones coming out of his forearms to impale the door before ripping it off in a hurry. Thankfully, the robot behind the wheel was groaning. Doing his best to remember what he had read in Rescuing 101, Izuku used his quirk to cut the straps before pulling the driver out. With the robot now in his arms, Izuku carried it bridal style over to the side of the road while making sure to be careful not to jostle the neck around too much.
"Everyone, this is Midoriya," said the teen, speaking officially to let them know how serious this was when compared to how lighthearted it was before as he gently placed the robot on the sidewalk. "There was an accident on my end. I don't know if I'll be able to make it. Proceed without me."
With that said, Izuku raced back quickly to the crash scene, focusing on the civilians as they were the first people he could reach. It was slow going but, one by one, he managed to repeat the process of pulling the robots out of their vehicles before placing them to the side of the road where he believed they would be safe. He had to treat everyone of them like they were alive and could be saved (them being robots and thus not having any pulse he could find) which took up a lot more time. And while he was doing this, he used the com link to contact the police and fire department for assistance as well as informing them that they needed as many ambulances as possible.
By the time Izuku finally went for the truck, the teen had no idea how long he spent rescuing the robots. All he knew was that he had pulled and laid out twenty robots on the street. He could hear his heart pounding in his ear along with the sirens in the distance getting closer. But he ignored it all in order to focus on the task in front of him while images of All Might's debut played in his mind. Of the man smiling as he carried people out from a massive accident. In the past, whenever Izuku watched it, he always had that sense of awe and wonder at how the man could so easily endure all that with a smile on his lips. Now, however, it was like a veil had been lifted. This was scary, terrifying even. Sure they were robots and this was just an exercise, but after hearing them talk and walk about gave this exercise a level of realism that helped put things into perspective.
As Izuku used the bones sticking out of his arm to deal with the truck door, he realized that he still wanted that dream. To be the type of person who could save as many people around him while having a presence that could reassure them. But it wouldn't be as easy as it had been for All Might. And he was just fine with that.
After pulling out the criminal, Izuku made his way back before something caught his attention. He didn't know what it was, but it caused the hair on the back of his neck to rise with his instincts screaming at him to run. Maybe it was the sound of liquid running or the crackle of a fire. In the end, Izuku barely had time to process this as the tanker exploded!
Time seemed to slow down as Izuku watched the flames flying towards him, the robots he had saved, and the robotic civilians in the area. Acting quickly, the teen spread his arms out like he was preparing to give a big hug as bone spikes grew from his palms. They extended far longer than they normally did with more bones growing along it. These bones were curved like rib bones along the main spikes, grown so close together that there was barely a space between them while digging into the ground. They just kept growing and growing, even when Izuku felt himself at his limit. But that wasn't all he was doing. Several bone spikes erupted from his feet, legs, and along his arms to offer himself protection while another set of bone spikes shot into the earth to help anchor him.
Then, the fire hit. Izuku let out a scream of pain as the pressure and the heat were so immense that he could feel it through his bones. Thousands of sounds seemed to assault his ears, from the cries of the people around him to the debris of the cars colliding with each other and the roaring of the flames. Made all the worse as time still seemed to crawl painfully slow.
Then, it ended.
[hr]
Pony was now beginning to panic. She had heard the crashing from nearby along with Izuku's announcement of a crash. That he didn't know if he could make it. All of that had put the girl in a state of unease, wanting to rush over there and help him. But she was here, at the bank where the main crime was taking place. She was the only hero here. If she left then what would happen?
Then came the explosion. Pony felt the vibrations in the street, saw and heard windows from the nearby building shatter, and heard the car alarms blaring. She heard the screams from the robots who ran down the streets in a panic. It was like the world was ending and she was just standing there, doing nothing.
As the voices of her classmates began to take over the radio signal, the American girl turned her attention back to the threat before her. Mentally she kicked herself as, had she just taken care of them herself then maybe some of this could have been prevented!
Whipping around so that she was in front of the entrance, Pony brought her fingers up to her horns. "Horn Cannon!" she shouted while charging into the building. The horns on her head flew off at an impressive speed before a new set instantly regrew, flew off, and were replaced. With the max number of horns she could remotely control at her disposal, Pony went to work. As she charged towards the robot collecting the money, one set of horns locked under the arms of the other one-pointer robots that was dealing with the hostages. That bot was lifted into the air before being flung into the wall and pinned there. It struggled, but that was all it could do as Pony's flying kick landed in the face of the other one-pointer, nearly crushing its forehead in the process. As for the second set of horns, they flew towards the two-pointer. More specifically, its tail as Pony knew it was a weapon. In the entrance exam, the thing had launched rubber bullets at speeds that left nasty bruises to all those who couldn't dodge it in time. But here, she had no idea if that was the case or if Endeavor had upped the damage. Either way, she wasn't taking any chances as her horns caught the tail before coming together as closely as they could before pinning the metallic appendage to the ground. The two-pointer seemed to panic, turning around to try pulling it out. In that time, Pony created another set of horns which she jumped onto. Using her horns to fly, she moved through the air around the two-pointer, wrapping it in capture tape.

"Well, I'll say this: I am genuinely impressed by what I saw today," said Endeavor, a slight smile on his face as he stood before class 1-B. Izuku stood there, his hero costume mostly destroyed and feeling weak as he drank the bottle of milk that had been provided to him as well as some calcium pills. This was one of the drawbacks of his quirk when he overused it: calcium deficiency. When he had gotten his quirk, the doctors in America had explained that his body used large amounts of calcium when hardening and producing his bones. Now, unlike some other quirks, Izuku could reabsorb the bones back into his system and recoup the losses but only if the bones were still a part of his body. Once he pulled them out, it was lost. Also, thanks to the work of Project Quirk Rebirth, his body was fully adapted to his quirk meaning he had higher levels of calcium. That, along with his training with his quirk, made it to where his quirk draw back rarely ever came up. However, today, he had pushed himself further than he normally did. And while he had been able to reabsorb most of his bones his body was still feeling the effects. The milk and pills were just something to help him out.
At least he didn't use his ultimate move. The backlash of that one was far worse.
Around him, Izuku's classmates stood looking a little worse for wear. Some looked tired. Others had rips and tears in their costumes. Yet they all stood there, staring back at Endeavor to show they were paying attention.
"None of you did perfectly," continued Endeavor. "In fact, all of you made several mistakes. Yet, you did far better than what most people who take this exercise for the first time receive. Honestly, it makes me want to grade all of you on a harder curve. I am confident that, by the end of this year, you will be able to do that course at maximum difficulty and will be able to save everyone! That is how much potential I see before me!"
"Tsunotori, please take a step forward so I can give you your evaluation," said Endeavor. At first, Pony blinked but quickly recovered as she walked up to the much larger man before them. "You were the first to arrive at the scene. Which is good. However, there were a number of crimes happening below you that you missed. Some of them you could have ended by launching a single horn downward and not lost any time. Normally, I would grade you down massively for this. But, with that said, you were moving as the crow flies to get to your target and none of the robots noticed you. Still, you need to have better awareness of the surrounding area even while you're in the air. Next time, I'll be counting that against you. Understand?"
"Yes sir!" said Pony, speaking loudly but Izuku could see the disappointment on her face. She then looked ready to move back to the line, but Endeavor stopped her with a gesture.
"I also want to add that you had a good approach to dealing with the bank robbers," he continued. "Instead of charging in like some damned rookie, you kept your head on straight. You evaluated the villains and relayed the information to the rest of the heroes. Most pros won't do that, be they newcomers or seasoned pro. Your take down of them was also spot on: take down the 'unknowns' while incapacitating the threat you are aware of. Where you failed is in the time you delayed to act. I understand you wanted to be careful as there were hostages and you knew backup was coming soon. Still, you need to have a bit more confidence in yourself. You have a strong quirk and a good head on your shoulders. Overall, a flawed but good job."
With that, Endeavor gave the girl a nod before allowing her to move back and stand with the rest of her class. "Tetsutetsu, step forward so I can give you your evaluation," he said, pausing to allow the Steel user to rush over to him excitedly. "You're biggest misstep was it took you too long to get moving. It honestly looked like you were having too much fun with that bar fight and dragged it on to make it last longer. That won't do. You are here to be a hero, not a bar brawler!"
"Sorry," said Tetsutetsu, his cheeks burning with clear embarrassment.
"Your speed was also lacking," continued Endeavor. "I know that your quirk only makes your body harder. But that is no excuse! You need to figure out how to get from point A to point B as quickly as possible or else you'll never make it past sidekick. With all that said, once you were making your way to the objective, you kept your eyes open for crimes and stopped everything you came across. You didn't cut corners trying to make up for the time you wasted. That's good. Now we need to make sure you're better next time."
With that, Tetsutetsu nodded before moving back with the rest of the class. From there, Endeavor continued to call each of the members of 1-B one by one. Some were shorter than others, giving brief generalized summaries of what they did wrong. Others, he went into more specifics. One such teen was Kamakiri. Because he had allowed one of the villains to escape, it caused trouble in another part of the city. While he had never intended for it to happen, nor could he have known what would later happen, the fact still remained that he was the first domino to fall in the series of events that followed. He needed to keep that in mind for the future.
Then…
"Midoriya, step forward so I can give you your evaluation," said the flaming pro hero. Nodding, Izuku stepped forward towards Endeavor. "When the exercise began, you missed two moments where you could have acted like a hero. One was a dog in an alleyway. You failed to notice it as well as the sign on the wall next to him. You also missed a carjacking. Now, I will say that you did an amazing job with the kid. Excellent work there getting him to trust you and taking him to the authorities. I've known plenty of heroes who would have ignored him as there wouldn't be much in terms of money or fame for finding him. I've also known a few who would have waited till a news crew arrived just to do a fluff piece. But you? You handled that like a professional should! However, while you helped the person most in need at the time, you gained a bit of tunnel vision. I'm not saying you should have rescued the dog right then and there if you had seen him, but you could have gone back for him. The carjacking? Tell the kid to close his eyes, count to ten, and deal with the problem."
"Yes Endeavor sir," replied Izuku, feeling very embarrassed at not seeing those issues right in front of him. Honestly he would have argued with the man, saying that even if he had seen them, the kid came first. He never considered the options the pro hero had, silencing himself when he heard them.
"As for everything else," continued Endeavor, his face becoming harder. "You did sufficiently well during the pile up despite having no real rescue training under your belt. Still, we'll need to work on having you save more people at once though. Also…you failed to save everyone. Fourteen people who were on the other side of that wall you created died in the explosion."
"What?" cried Izuku while a chorus of murmurs could be heard behind him. Also, one Kamakiri fell to his knees in shock, knowing that that had been the vehicle he had failed to stop from fleeing the crime scene. "I…I didn't know. T-There wasn't enough time to…I thought I had gotten everyone I could." The teen would have gone on, growing pale as the weight of what it would have been like had that been real, fell upon him. And not in a gentle manner. However, he was stopped when Endeavor placed a hand on his shoulder.
"This is a lesson you'll have to learn. All of you," said their teacher as he looked from Midoriya to the rest of the class and then back to the green haired boy. "There will be times when you can't save everyone. That you will have to make that tough choice between saving those you can and trying to save everyone with the odds being that you'll fail. It's a sad fact that we all have our limitations. Still, you did good out there kid. Mighty good in fact. If you had been a fraction of a second slower, I would have had to pull you out of this exercise and you'd be in Recovery Girl's office for the night. Instead, you are here still standing, in pain but standing, with over thirty people still alive. People you were able to save due to your quick thinking, training with your quirk, and ability to act! Now, we just need to figure out how to improve! Remember, for heroes, the idea that there is a finish line is laughable. Keep thinking about how you can improve yourself in body, mind, and quirk so you can go beyond what you were yesterday."
Then, Endeavor smiled a bit. "Now, for something far more positive," he said. "On your way to the bank, you did excellent. You kept in contact with the other heroes and informed them when you thought you wouldn't make it. Your snap decision when dealing with the purse snatcher was spot on as well as the way you handled it afterwards. Honestly, much better than how I normally deal with things. Then there was Tetsumaki and Penny. You handled that very well. Most students and pros would have seen Tetsumaki, assumed he was a villain, and attacked him. Your assessment that he wasn't a real threat that needed to be punched was spot on. Trust me, impulsive attacks and judgments will be the quickest thing you can do to have your hero license revoked. Beyond all that, the only issue I have is your speed. It's something you're going to have to work on."
With that, Izuku was allowed to rejoin the rest of the class. As Endeavor went on to talk about Bondo, how it was the right call to stay and fix the road when he did otherwise there could have been a bigger disaster, the bone user felt Pony take his hand. When he looked over to her, he saw her smiling warmly at him. No doubt glad he was safe and unharmed. He gave her hand a squeeze back, thankful that she was safe as well as just being there for him. Hearing he had failed to save others, even though they were just robots, had been hard to hear. Yet, Endeavor had a point. He had done everything he could and still people died. It was a hard pill to swallow. But, he wasn't going to give up. Because there was still so much for him to learn, to try. He was going to get better.
Finally, Endeavor finished his overview of the exercise.
"Now then, there are two more classes before the Sports Festival," he began, confusing the class as today was Thursday. "I intend to make the most of the time we have until then. Tomorrow, we will be having a special self quirk research session. Tonight, I want all of you to think about what we discussed today and ways to improve. When class starts, you will be hammering out your ideas to see if they are possible. If you finish early, do not sit around or assume you're done. Come up with a back-up plan for when the first idea you had doesn't work, improve on other areas of your quirk, or even other ideas that we didn't take about. If you need help, I will be there to assist and provide feedback.
"As for Saturday, you are all going to get the training you should have gotten at the USJ," continued Endeavor. "Unfortunately, the USJ is off limits due to the police still looking for clues. From what I have heard, the staff here at U.A. have assisted them in sweeping the area, but they want to make sure no stone is left unturned and it is a big area. So, instead, this class will be conducting its Rescue Training across campus in the various training zones. This will be an all day activity to make up for all the lost time. Please inform the other students in your after school training group that should they wish to join us and know what real heroes go through everyday then they are free to join us. Class dismissed."

Shoto Todoroki was not happy as he eyed his father from around a corner, All Might's class having ended early. The man he despised more than anything else in the world had just finished his lesson, watching him leave along with the rest of the class from around a corner. His mismatched eyes narrowed as he looked at all those from 1-B, wondering what sort of hell Endeavor put them through. Sure, you couldn't tell that just by looking at them as all of them seemed happy and excited. But, that was no doubt just forced happiness as they were being trained by another high ranking hero. Fooling themselves into thinking that this wasn't so bad.
These fools were to be pitied. Not just for the fact that they were fooling themselves, but also because they didn't know they were nothing more than pawns. Pawns that Endeavor would be using, manipulating so that he could put Shoto into a situation where he would have to use that man's fire. To do everything in his power to make the young man break his vow. That was all they were to him. Yes, class 1-B was to be pitied.
Then, Shoto saw something that piqued his interest. Two students had stayed behind and began to talk to Endeavor. Two students he was vaguely aware of, Izuku Midoriya and Pony Tsunotori. He had been somewhat aware of Midoriya since the beginning of the year, having checked the top five spots in the entrance exam as he had believed that only those people were worthy of keeping an eye on. What he knew about Midoriya was that he used additional skills in tandem with his quirk. No doubt it was weak. As for the girl, he was aware that she was the daughter of an American hero of little importance as the woman's quirk was minor at best. Oh, he was aware that they were dating though that mattered very little to him. All in all, when looking at things in an objective light, he was stronger than both of them combined as his quirk could easily overpower them.
What was interesting were the looks on their faces. All three of them. Both Midoriya and Tsunotori were talking animatedly, with the boy making gestures with his hands while the horned girl was bouncing on her hooves. As for Endeavor, the man looked like talking to them wasn't an annoyance. So what was going on?
Shoto's first thought was that Endeavor had finally given up using him as his heir to claim the spot of the number one hero. In any other timeline, the half and half teen would have let out a sigh of relief that his father was moving on. But no, Shoto knew better. If he couldn't manipulate or control him, then he would do that to his grandchildren. Was Fuyumi here so Endeavor could set her up with Midoriya? Did he have some quirk that would boost her lackluster quirk? Or was there something else? Or maybe he was planning on breaking them up secretly before guiding a brokenhearted Tsunotori to him?
After thinking about this for a moment, Shoto shook his head while putting these theories into his 'Endeavor's plan B' file within his mind. Regardless of what that man said, Shoto knew his father hadn't given up yet. After all, hadn't he said multiple times that he was that man's masterpiece and that he had been created to take All Might's place? The man would never give up, not so soon into the first year. No doubt these two were his newest potential pawns. Yes, that would make more sense. He was probably buttering them up, filling their heads with promises.
Well, whatever that man had planned, it wasn't going to work. He would crush both of them using only his mother's ice.
[hr]
"Ah, Young Midoriya. Young Tsunotori," came All Might's voice when he spotted the pair down the hall, ready to enact his plan of getting back into the teen's good grace's.
The man had made sure that his lesson with 1-A was light, enabling him to end it early without making it seem like he was being lazy or anything. Not that he had been as he had had to put out a few fires. Some literal. Bakugo had gotten rather annoyed by the robotic girl's crying and, with his frustration reaching its peak, blasted the robot in a huge explosion. Then the teen went on a long tangent about how they were wasting time when they should be getting in actual hero training instead of this, as he put it, 'crap'. And despite how the pro hero tried his best to explain to him the importance of public relations as well as needing some time to unwind, Bakugo seemed set in his line of thinking.
Though there was a part of him that couldn't blame the boy for being wound up a little tighter than normal. Monday was the Sports Festival, a big day for everyone. No doubt the pressure was starting to affect him. Still, he had to give Bakugo a negative mark for this exercise as it was still the lesson of the day, regardless of what the teen felt about it.
And he wasn't the only one he had to mark in the negative. There had been both Mineta and Ida. While he had expected Mineta to react in such a manner, Ida had been a bit of a disappointing surprise. After all, the teen had come from a heroic family so the man had thought that they would have shown him the ropes at some point when dealing with civilians. Then there was Todoroki, another disappointing surprise. While the teen hadn't done anything as destructive or overly rude like the others, it was clear his mind wasn't on the exercise. And when a robot did approach him, he silently glared at it reminding the man of how Endeavor would act 99% of the time. Then there was Monoma. Watching the teen throw back his head, loudly announcing that the robot was wise to approach such a superior hero had been a sight. Not a good one mind you as All Might had to cut the teen off after a while.
At least the rest of the class had a little fun to blow off some steam and would take this lesson to heart when it came time for the Sports Festival. At least, he hoped they would.
Once his students had left, All Might shifted into his true form as he went to the monitors to wait for the ideal moment when he could get Young Midoriya alone. Or, at least, as alone as he could be seeing that he was very active with his other classmates. The one thing the pro didn't want around Midoriya at this moment was another teacher. Not Kan whom All Might couldn't face at this moment. Not Present Mic who would be too loud. Not Midnight as she would make the situation a little uncomfortable. And not Endeavor as he didn't want to reveal anything personal to the man that might let slip his failing state. The only reason he had told his fellow teachers was that Nezu convinced him to do so. That he could drop his form more freely if they knew as well as allowing them to cover for him when need be.
Now here he was, armed with the information he had gotten from the young man in secret. Ready to repair some bridges.
"A-All Might," stammered the boy, now pressed in his P.E. uniform. No doubt getting ready to head to his after class training. Though, what really stood out to the man was that there was little adoration in the teen's voice. Just surprise as well as a tone that hinted that he wanted to avoid the man. Something that gripped at the muscular hero's heart.
"Be at ease young hero," said All Might, pushing that feeling aside as he gestured with his hand. "I wanted to speak to either you or Young Kendo, seeing as you were the 1-B's Reps, after I had the rug pulled out from under me."
"You did?" asked Midoriya, tilting his head while Pony looked on with confusion.
"Yes," said the man as he took a breath, allowing his posture to relax a bit. "I…The last time I taught your class ended on a sour note. It had been my intention to apologize for how things devolved during our scheduled class today only to then find out that I would no longer be teaching 1-B. At least, for the foreseeable future." The mighty man then took another deep breath. "It was never my intention to belittle all the hard work that yourself, as well as the rest of your class, have put into themselves. All of you have put in a great deal of time and effort into improving yourselves. It was wrong of me to even imply that none of that mattered."
For a moment, All Might saw something in the young man's eyes. A flicker of hope and admiration like he was used to seemed to appear in Midoriya's eyes. Those eyes looked on All Might, taking in the sight of him as if the version he had met yesterday had just been an imposture. However, that light began to dim after a moment.
"…And about the quirkless?" asked Midoriya, his voice hesitant while sounding like he was bracing himself for bad news. To that, All Might inwardly sighed. He had expected that though he had hoped it wouldn't come up. When he had been thinking on what to say, he had thought about lying to the teen. To simply say that he had thought about it overnight and had changed his mind. However, every time he tried to do so the words just sounded so disingenuous that not even he believed he was saying it. What's more, he realized something else. Currently he was trying to bond with someone he hoped would become his successor. If he did somehow manage to pull off this lie, then should he ever screw up in the future then it would be the ultimate betrayal of trust. No, he needed to be honest.
"Young man," said All Might as he got on one knee so that he was closer to eye level with the teen. He was still smiling, but it was softer. "There are some things in this world that, no matter how unfair it might sound, can never be changed. Please know that I have nothing against people who were unlucky to never know what it is like to have a quirk. It wasn't a life they wanted. But, sadly, it's the life they got. And I have been in this game a long time. I have seen a lot. I've known heroes who relied heavily on their support gear, only to watch it fail them at the worst moment. I've seen people with the best of intentions but the weakest quirks getting mowed down by those with more power. There was even a quirkless teen I once knew who tried to be like a hero, swinging a metal pipe to defend his home against a gang but all he ended up doing was getting in the way of the hero."
What All Might edited out was that quirkless teen was himself. And that the hero he had gotten in the way of had been his master. It had been an unusual meeting, but one that proved his point. Without power, you can't change anything.
"But," began Tsunotori, only to then lose her voice while Midoriya just continued to stare at the man.
"It's not a bad thing to have ideals, young man," continued All Might. "Nor is it wrong to believe in the potential of others. But those ideals needed to be grounded in reality. The quirkless, as much as I hate to say this, will never get a shot at becoming heroes. No matter how hard they work, no matter how much support equipment improves, being a hero is one goal they will never reach. It's unfair, but that's just the way things are."
With that, All Might stood and turned to leave. Hopefully, Midoriya would understand things better now.
"I'm sorry All Might, but I can't accept that," said Midoriya, causing the hero to pause. Turning around, he saw that the teen was now standing with a look of determination in his eyes that, had this been any other subject, would have been applauded by the hero.
"He's right!" said Tsunotori, frowning as she looked at All Might. "Despite what you said at the beginning, you're still saying that we're only here because of our quirks! That everything we've done to get to this point would have been meaningless without them! And, if we ever lost them, we should be tossed to the side!"
All Might managed to hide his grimace as Tsunotori said that last part as he remembered Kan's words. A part of him wanted to speak out, saying that they didn't have to worry about that as it wasn't like their quirks would just up and leave them. But he didn't because now he knew that it was a real possibility. All for One was still alive and had his eyes set on this school. If either of these teens came across the man, he would no doubt steal their quirks because he either wanted them or wanted to deprive the heroes of another resource. Perhaps even giving their quirks to a new Nomu.
As the silence dragged on, All Might suddenly realized something: What would he do if that happened? If All of One did steal their quirks and then left them alive? He would of course comfort them. But could they still be heroes? The answer, as much as he hated to admit it to himself, was no. There was just no chance that they could become a hero after losing their quirk. Well, unless he offered them his quirk. And it seemed like his silence gave both teens their answer.
"All Might," began Midoriya, his voice shaky like he was doing his best to hold back a flood of emotions. "I can't…I was lucky to get this quirk. That's all it was, a stroke of luck that it finally came to me. And I have been thankful for that, as well as everything it brought with it every day of my life. I'm able to live a good life because of it. But, I don't want being here at U.A. to be thanks to luck. I want to deserve to be here!" All Might reeled back as he heard this while, at the same time, tears began to flow from Midoriya's eyes. "I'm sorry All Might, but me getting my quirk was nothing more than a lucky accident. A stroke of fate. And I don't want it to be the reason me and the others are here right now. I want it to be our reward for all the hard work we put into all of our training. Something that anyone should receive, regardless of their quirk status."
Then, with tears still in his eyes, Midoriya gave All Might an even more determined look. "You say that it's just the way things are and we should accept it, even if it's unfair. But I refuse to do so! I'm going to change the world so that even people who weren't born lucky still have a chance at becoming heroes!" With that, Midoriya turned and practically ran away with Tsunotori following behind him leaving behind a stunned All Might. One who just had his mentor's words thrown back into his face.

"So that's what happened," grumbled Aizawa as he leaned back in his seat while giving Yaoyorozu a tired look. The Rep of his class had arrived to speak with him, just as he had told her to, and had begun speaking to him the moment they were alone. She had told him about how Ida had been acting the moment he arrived in the class, getting physical with Ashido when it became clear she would remain defiant. How the acid girl of his class had acted in self-defense. Honestly, this is what he thought had happened when he entered the room that morning. Yaoyorozu was just confirming it.
"Sir, please," began Yaoyorozu as she looked at the man with pleading eyes. "Something needs to be done. Surely even you can see that things are getting out of hand. Not just about people like Mineta, Monoma, and Ida, but I'm also worried about Kirishima. I'm worried that if something isn't done then we might have more issues like with him. Maybe even worse. And…And I don't know what I can do on my own."
Once she had finished, a heavy silence fell upon the room as Aizawa thought it over. A part of him, a large part, was beginning to believe that his lesson was now getting out of hand as evident by Ida's behavior. The teen didn't seem to understand the added tension he was creating with his actions or the added hostility towards both himself as well as the rest of the class. That new lunchroom incident certainly wasn't helping his case. Clearly he was doubling or tripling down on his behavior, digging in his heels rather than making the rational conclusion that he was in the wrong. Aizawa was thankful that things didn't escalate to the same level as what happened to that business course student.
Then there was the rest of his class. Mineta was becoming bolder, as evident as what happened this morning. The tiny teen had thought it acceptable to attempt sexual harassment and assault on 1-B's student teacher, doing so out in the open where everyone was watching him. Had he not acted, Aizawa was sure that Kan would have gone to Nezu about this. Bakugo's behavior was another matter. The fact that he had so utterly failed in All Might's exercise was worrisome. Meanwhile, Monoma had just opened a new can of worms for him to deal with. Shortly after homeroom had ended, Aizawa got an alert on his phone and upon looking at it saw that Monoma had posted something to his social media account. Feeling a headache approaching, the tired hero pressed the icon on his phone to view it with some trepidation at what he would find. It was far worse than he could have imagined. Monoma had announced to everyone following him that All Might was now exclusively teaching 1-A, stating that he was favoring them as the truly superior class at school. The only one worthy of the time and attention of the great pro hero. So far, the boy's followers were reacting with surprise and dismay, but Aizawa knew that the news media would see this and would soon be reaching out to the school to confirm it. Once they did, all hell would break loose. As much as Aizawa wanted to storm into the classroom and demand that Monona delete it, the damage was done. Sero was another one to keep an eye on. While he wasn't as obvious as the others, the man had heard him looking down at the other students. And he wasn't the only one. Most of the males in his class were slowly adopting this line of thinking to at least some degree.
Overall, Aizawa knew he was losing control of his class. They were either holding personal parades for themselves on the daily, sitting there doing nothing, having mental and emotional breakdowns, or fleeing his class like it was a sinking ship. Sad thing was, he couldn't blame either Ashido or Uraraka for doing so anymore.
Thinking about the two girls caused a lump to form in the man's stomach. He would admit that it hurt that they chose to go to another teacher for help. Even if he still believed that Uraraka should be kicked out and Ashido should be transferred to General Studies, that didn't mean he didn't care about them at all. Still, he rationally understood why they were going to him.
"Sir?" spoke Yaoyorozu, breaking the silence. But the man didn't speak, instead just looking at her. Honestly, right now, she was probably one of his best students and not because of her quirk. Though he was a bit disappointed in how long it took her to stand up to Ida. Something to work on.
Another sigh escaped him. Yes, things were going far worse than he ever thought they would with his ultimate lesson. Not just with his Problem Children, but Kirishima as well. While Hound Dog would never fully disclose what he and the teen spoke about, he had hinted that with Kirishima's state of mind as it was, if left alone the results would have been disastrous. The world might have lost a good, potential hero. If only he had been able to get Midoriya into his class then perhaps things wouldn't have gotten this bad. But he hadn't.
So what was keeping him from stopping all this? Well, the lesson was almost over. He had let it go on this long, suffered so many headaches and missed naps that to end it now would make everything moot. No, his students NEEDED this to finish properly.
"Do not worry about Kirishima," said Aizawa at last, noting that the girl beside him looked worried. No doubt she was remembering how he had shown up shortly before the lunch break ended, having spent the entire morning talking to Hound Dog about what he was going through. Seeing the Hardening Hero in Training walking into the room, his eyes blurry and looking like he had been sobbing for hours, no doubt added to the girl's fears. So, the man continued. "Kirishima is seeking help from Hound Dog. That's all I can say on the matter. If you want to know more, then you will have to speak to him yourself about it. As for Ida, I plan on contacting his parents to arrange a time when we can all speak about his behavior."
"Thank goodness," exclaimed Yaoyorozu with a sigh, placing a hand over her chest as she spoke. Then she leaned a little closer to Aizawa. "And, if you wouldn't mind, I'd also like to talk about the issues involving Ashido and Uraraka. I think that-"
"That matter has been settled and everything involving the end of their time in this class has been set into motion," said Aizawa flatly, using a tone that said this matter is closed. Yaoyorozu, however, disagreed as she opened her mouth while her eyes said that she was ready to argue with him. That ended as Aizawa cut her off with a glare. "The subject is closed. Now, school is over. You'd best be heading home or training for the Sports Festival."

Olivia sat on a chair in a mostly empty room. It was small, with the walls, ceiling, and floor painted pure white. Somehow the room was lit, though the girl couldn't see any light fixtures. Almost as if the walls themselves were giving off their own light. The only things in it were the two chairs that were facing each other. One of which she had found herself in once she had awoken but was too tired to move.
For the briefest moment, the girl thought that she was dead and that this was just some place where the soul waited for their judgment. It was a happy thought, especially as she considered how her life had been up to this point. The people who had given birth to her, she refused to call them her parents, had disowned her as soon as they discovered she was quirkless. She didn't know why nor did she care anymore as learning the reason wouldn't make the pain go away. Honestly, she felt like it would only make things worse for her. On that day, she was on the streets with the only things she owned, which were the clothes on her back and her name before Hell came for her. Every day had been a struggle to stay alive, hunting for food and shelter. Later, when it was discovered that she was quirkless, the abuse began. Kids would hunt down the 'homeless freak' so they would practice their quirks on her. Others seemed to just want to use her to vent out their frustrations or just for the fun of it. She was, in their eyes, less than an animal. All because she had an extra pinky joint.
However, when she looked down at her body, she knew she was still alive. It was still the same mess. And the pain was slowly coming back. A sob nearly escaped her, wanting to cry out and curse God for prolonging her torture. To ask why her? What had she done to deserve such a cruel fate? Why did he delight in prolonging her torment? She had heard that if she took her own life, she would go to Hell. Was…Was that what God wanted? For her to solidify her fate, trading one Hell for another?
Then, the door opened. Olivia's heart began to beat a little faster as she felt too tired to turn her head and look. With each step, her fear began to mount as the worst possibilities came to her mind. Had this all be some elaborate plan, getting her hopes as well as other quirkless people, before dashing them off and selling them to sick freaks who would torture her till she died? Just stop. Just let her die. Just let her die. That's all she wanted was death. The world had had its fun with her for long enough so please, just end it.
"Hello Olivia," said Blackhound as he finally stepped into view. She knew the quirkless businessman as he had come to check on her when she had been taken in by one of his charity programs meant to help the people like her. It eased her worries when the charity had given her a bed and three square meals a day. More so when the man and his daughter approached her, informing her of the process of getting a quirk. Honestly, it felt like money down the drain given how messed up she was. Even if she did suddenly get a quirk, she would still be a freak. The kind that mothers would shield the eyes of their children from while whispering 'Oh dear God, what is that thing'. In the end, it was just too late for her. She would have told him so, had he not mentioned how many people died the first time. And that, she had believed, would be her out without taking her life with her own hands. Just closing your eyes to begin this process and never waking up.
"How are you feeling?" continued Blackhound, sounding genuinely concerned about her as he sat down. She eyed the man, noting how the scarred man was dressed in his usual fine suit while holding a white paper bag. "Tired? Hungry? Oh, I know that feeling."
"I doubt it," whispered Olivia.
Blackhound just smiled. "Oh, I wasn't always the man you see before you," he said pleasantly. "Back when I was a boy, my family was dirt poor. Being penniless and quirkless was not a good combination. So, if there is anyone who has even the smallest idea of what your life has been like, it's me."
"Then please," whispered Olivia, tears trying to form in her eyes. "Just let me die. If you really know what it's like, then you'll do the right thing and let me die."
"Well, let's see if I can't change your mind first," said the man as he reached into the bag. "You know, I was surprised when you didn't pick out the quirk you wanted. But I guess that was for the best. It meant that I could look through our library of quirks to find the one you needed the most." Now, the man had pulled something out of the bag. It was a blood pouch. And for some reason, all of Olivia's senses were locked onto it. Something inside of her was pulsing with additional power, screaming in her mind to take it. She needed it more than she needed air!
It was then her body moved. So fast that it surprised Blackhound as she ripped the bag out of his hand before falling to the ground and curling up into a ball as she dug her teeth into it. Like a wild animal she thrashed it around until she felt the liquid entering her. Olivia didn't even bother to taste it nor question where this sudden burst of energy came from, just gulping it down like there was no tomorrow. She felt it leak onto the white medical skirt she was wearing and onto the floor, but she didn't care as her eyes rolled into the back of her head.
Then, it ended. The blood was gone. The weakness that had kept her seated returned, like she had experienced some weird adrenaline rush. Thankfully, from her position, Blackhound was still in her line of sight. He was still sitting there, watching her with what looked like bated breath.
"What did you," began Olivia, her mind back and trying its best to process what had just happened to her. However, before she could finish what she had been saying, Olivia felt something pulse deep inside her. She gasped in shock as it happened for a second time. Then a third. Her blood felt…energized. That's when it began to happen. Olivia began to thrash about as she felt her body moving and shifting about as both pain as well as pleasure coated her very being. It started with her insides, feeling the pains of her stomach and other parts were easing until there was nothing left. The parasites that had made their homes within her, she could literally feel them being eradicated. Then she saw something out of the corner of her eyes that drew her attention. Her arms, which had been nothing more than bones with a thin layer of skin covering them, began to change. They began to expand as newer, healthy muscles began to grow. Her bones no longer hurt while also becoming stronger. As for her skin, it looked far more healthy. More than she could ever remember it being before. Olivia kept her gaze on this wonderful and shocking sight until something covered her eyes. It took only a moment for her to realize what this was. It was hair. She had hair again! Feeling weight on her chest, Olivia pushed her newfound hair to the side before she ripped open the hospital gown to see what was happening. The first thing she noticed was the scars that had been engraved on her skin were fading quickly, as if being magically erased before her newly grown breasts blocked her view.
Then, it was over. The girl lay there, panting while realizing that she had been sweating slightly as she noticed a light sheen to her body that she continued to stare at. That was until she saw Blackhound standing over her, reaching out a hand to help her up.
"The quirk you were given was from the first generation of quirks called Vampire's Embrace," he said as Olivia was helped to her feet. A gasp escaped her, as she could feel her legs holding her properly. Even they were fixed! "As the name suggests, it's a blood quirk but with an interesting twist when it gives you different abilities based on the blood you consumed. The original owner was never able to fully utilize it due to the lack of proper support equipment back in the day." He then helped Olivia turn around as a holographic mirror appeared before them. "What happened to you, self regeneration, is what happens when you drink the blood of someone who is quirkless."
Olivia barely heard him as her hands went to touch her face, feeling how soft it was as she took in the new her. Her eyes were new red while her long white hair had a natural wave to it, covering one of her eyes. She also noted that her ears had changed, now somewhat pointed. Opening her mouth revealed the slightly enlarged canines. Slowly, her eyes traveled down her form, feeling everything as if making sure that everything felt as good as it looked. Her skin was smooth and soft to the touch, now appearing completely unblemished for the first time in her known life. Her breasts were large, but not comically so, and fit her body perfectly. The girl's body was slender, but appearing as though she had gotten plenty of good and healthy meals her entire life. Her waist looked perfect, her butt looking soft, nice hips.
Tears began to fall from her face. The person she had been was gone and replaced with someone who looked like they had never needed to dumpster dive or fight a raccoon for their meal a day in their lives. Now she had a fresh start, a literal new lease on life.
"We would like to do a few more tests," continued Blackhoud after a moment, allowing Olivia to take in the sight of her body. "Just to see what will happen when you drink the blood of other quirk users as our data on them is not sufficient. Then, if you would like, I would be honored if you joined me for a little trip to Japan. I'd like you to meet the young man who made all this possible: Izuku Midoriya. He was the first person to survive the process and gave us the samples we needed to help ensure that this procedure would be safe."
"Izuku Midoriya," whispered Olivia, her heart skipping a beat as she spoke the name. The name of the person who helped make all this possible. The name of the person who, through his efforts, gave her this new body. The name of the person who had saved her from Hell. She couldn't wait to meet him.

"So, how's my class been treating you?" asked Kan as he walked beside Endeavor towards the Principal's office. It was Friday, with the sun already beginning to set on the horizon with its last light shining through the windows as the pair moved.
As they did, Kan shot a glance towards the dorms where he knew his students, both official and not, were at this moment. Both Pony and Izuku had approached the man, separately, asking for permission to allow them to have guests stay the night. Officially it was because some of their friends wanted to make sure they wouldn't be late for Endeavor's Saturday class which was set to begin early in the morning. Though he knew they were also using this as an excuse to have some fun. He had overheard Tsunotori talking about a massive anime marathon tonight to some of her classmates. Right now she, Uraraka, Tokage, Ashido, Kawakami, and Pesuto were probably watching something. While he didn't know what they were doing, Kan did know that Midoriya had Tetsutetsu, Shinso, Goya, and a couple others were spending the night together.
"It's been oddly good," admitted the fire themed hero, sounding a little shocked himself by his own admission. "They're better than some of the interns and work studies students that I've dealt with before. It's also…" The man trailed off, no doubt pondering the best words to describe what he was feeling. Though he didn't need to wait too long before the words came to him. "It's also been challenging. I'm used to dealing with people who have quirks that revolve around fire. So dealing with a slew of people with different quirks has been like a challenge for me. But a good one. Like I'm testing myself. And it's rewarding whenever I help them discover a new way for them to use their quirk."
To that, Kan chuckled. "I know the feeling," he said.
"It's also nice to not have someone who fights me on every little thing," continued Endeavor, frowning a bit as he said that. "Not that I blame him…now. Honestly, I think this is what I really needed."
"I noticed," said Kan, tucking away the first part of that statement for later. He was aware there was some family drama within the Todoroki house, however he did not want to press the issue right now. He would wait till he saw signs that things were heading south or was asked. Plus, better to focus on the positive right now. "Heard you were on the news this morning. You actually paused to smile and wave at the people."
"Why must the people make such a big deal out of something so minor?" asked Endeavor, sounding both annoyed and amused. "People out there are coming up with the wildest theories. Like I finally got laid again."
Despite themselves, both men laughed at that as they finally made their way into Nezu's office. Inside, Aizawa sat at the couch with his arms crossed while looking down at the ground. For the briefest moment, the tired man raised his head to look at Kan before turning away. Meanwhile, Nezu sat at his desk though it was odd not to see him with any tea.
The situation between the homeroom teachers right now was different and Kan had no other way to really describe it. He had heard about what had happened in the class thanks to Ashido and Uraraka, which put him in a bind. While they were going to become his students soon, they weren't just yet and the incident happened in Aizawa's class. So his options were limited to either talking to Aizawa about it and going through the whole song and dance between them again or go to Nezu. However, just before he was about to, the devil himself seemed to appear at his doorway. Apparently he had heard the story from his class rep and, most shockingly, informed Kan that something would happen this time.
As if to prove it, Aizawa showed that he had already contacted Ida's parents to schedule a sit down to discuss the boy's future within the class. What was even more shocking was that Aizawa was inviting Kan to join in, seeing how both girls would more than likely be his students by that time. Of course, Aizawa gave his rationale on why the meeting was set for after the Sports Festival: it was to see if Ida had the skills needed to warrant keeping him in the Hero Course. If he showed that he did, both he and Kan would discuss some sort of long term probation. Perhaps sending him to General Studies until the end of the semester before checking to see if Ida had reflected on his behavior. Or perhaps Kan would have a new idea by then. If Ida failed to impress them, then a new spot within the Hero Course would likely open up sooner rather than later.
Shocked by this surprisingly fair rationale and behavior, Kan agreed. However, he did so while also telling Aizawa that if Ida got a free pass then he would be bringing this up with Nezu.
"Where is All Might?" asked Endeavor as he looked around. "I asked to meet with him as well as the homeroom teachers of the first year heroics classes." The man then frowned. "Don't tell me he blew us off for another interview."
"No, I have him on speaker," said Nezu.
"Sorry my friend," came All Might's loud and boisterous voice from the computer. "I wish I could have seen you in person, but it seems like Timmy fell down a well and they needed me, All Might to save him!" At that, Kan rolled his eyes at the lame excuse. The blood themed hero knew the truth about why All Might wasn't here. Normally the number one hero would be in his true, skinny form when in meetings with the other teachers in order to better manage his time as a hero. However, Enji Todoroki was still not in on the secret as he was still only a temporary teacher. So, in order to avoid more people finding out the truth than what was necessary, things like this needed to be done. Still, Kan had to wonder why All Might couldn't come up with a better excuse.
"Again?" stated Endeavor as he sat down. "Seriously, this has to be the fourth time this has happened this month. You should just get that idiot a punch card for the number of times you've had to pull his sorry ass out from there."
"Can't be helped," came All Might's voice. "You know his quirk is finding dried up and abandoned wells." At that, Kan just looked shocked. They were being serious and there really was someone who had a quirk like that?
"Anyways, Enji, you wished to speak to us about the Sports Festival?" spoke Nezu.
"Yes, I wanted to talk about the quality of the events," began Endeavor, his voice becoming serious. "Everyone here knows that there are many reasons for the way the Sports Festival is operated. It attracts attention from all over the world, showcasing the best of the best. It allows those from other courses a chance to impress the staff so they might get a chance to enter the Hero Course. But, most importantly, heroes from around Japan and even those around the world can see our students in action so that they can be considered for an internship. However, speaking as someone who has watched these events and submitted intern requests, it is my opinion that these events, as they are now, are not enough."
"Interesting," said Aizawa. "Would you care to elaborate?"
Endeavor nodded. "The current system with the Sports Festival mainly revolves around showing our students physical capabilities," began Enji, earning a few nods from the other teachers present. "While it is important to know that they have a body capable of doing the demanding job of being a hero, as well as the need to win, I have found in a few of my past interns as well as those whom I brought along for work studies, have developed a nasty habit where saving people is an afterthought. It has become all about the glory, stepping over each other in order to make it to the top. About impressing the pros watching, no matter what the cost. Then I think back to when we, all of us sitting here, took the entrance exam to get into this school. While the form and scope of the exam has changed two things have remained the same: villain points and rescue points. So, my question is this: why are we throwing away one aspect of being a hero in favor of another?"
"That's a bit tricky," said Kan, leaning forward a bit as he clashed his hands together while resting his elbows on his legs. "We need to make the games fair while also showcasing what our students are capable of before the pros. Though I will admit that I wouldn't mind seeing those who failed to get any rescue points in the entrance exam learning from their mistakes."
"As well as seeing who forgot about that lesson," added Aizawa, before he took on a more thoughtful posture. "I agree with Kan. It's an easy thing to suggest, but the issue will be implementing this idea. Where would we even do something like this?"
"Well," began Endeavor, no doubt seeing that he had their attention. "The Sports Festival is always broken down into three events. The first is made to cut the number of students into something more manageable. The second is designed to show teamwork. Meanwhile, the third is always a one on one style tournament. So, let's break it down." At this point, Endeavor held up three fingers for all to see. "The tournament is out as the heroes in the crowd need to be able to see what our students can do with nothing impeding them. Though, I wouldn't mind having a different setting to randomly give them an edge or a disadvantage in the future." With that, Endeavor lowered a finger. "As for team battles, it would be possible. However, we would run the risk of fracturing the groups should one person see a situation where help is needed but the rest argue or need to be brought up to speed if they didn't notice it. Also, how would we handle a situation where one person breaks from the team to perform the rescue? It is doable, but would require more thought and planning. Which leaves one." With that, Endeavor was now holding up a single finger.
For a time, all the men in the room just sat there thinking about Endeavor's suggestion. With Kan, the man had no objections to this plan. For one thing, it would help both the school as well as the pros watching to see who had the right mindset to be a hero. After all, one of the issues from past years that made it difficult for those in General Studies to make it into the Hero Course was that they were never given any form of training. Meaning they were in less psychically fit shape, had less quirk experience, and had no fighting experience. Well, until this year that is. Still, making it so that the first event held a secret additional component would give a leg up to everyone else. It might even help draw the attention to those heroes who specialize in rescue work.
But, more than that, it had the potential to show the world that they were in good hands with the next group of potential heroes. It could also be seen as a means of correcting or even pruning those students within the Hero Course who did not meet with their standards.
"I agree with this," said Aizawa, surprising Kan. "It would be more rational to have these flaws exposed on school grounds than out there in the real world."
"I too am in agreement," laughed All Might from the speaker. "After all, saving others is the cornerstone of heroics! What better way to place that on display than making it the opening event?"
"You'll have no argument from me," stated Kan. "But, we will need to figure out how to handle this event. If we make it just like the entrance exam, then our students will know what's up. Plus people's attention will be drawn more towards the explosions of robots rather than those being saved. Speaking of, who will they be saving? Robots?"
"Oh, I think I have an idea," said Nezu before he began to cackle insanely.
